It's nice to see someone with out white hair taking an interest in preserving one of these important and yes, 'delightful' examples of living history! This, the Ford Model T, literally changed the world. Right along with refrigeration, telephone, air flight, and the maxim machine gun. Kudos to you fellow devote to the early Auto mobile! I'm enjoying your 'Silent Films' (very much in the 'spirit' I might add)
Thank you for not putting music, this is so relaxing to watch!
When you pulled the rims off the headlights, it appears that the reflectors are in very good condition. They are silver plated, so you can use any good silver cleaner to spruce them up. Once polished, make sure you avoid to get your fingerprints on them so they won't tarnish. I had my reflectors resilvered 40 years ago and they still shine like new.
That’s good to know. Thanks
I like Walter, he keeps a keen eye on your work!
Good Job !! as a owner of three model A fords Iwill say that you don't need a 40,000 dollar restoration to have fun. My retort has been I found them , I payed for them , I did the work and the upkeep , If you have a problem go away.
Perfect !! I think you made the perfect choice instead of repainting. The car shows it's well deserved honest patina.
Walter, the project manager, boss, quality controllant...!! Regards Stig Österberg from Finland.
If My dad would have restored that car he would have took it completely all apart restored every part then put it back together
Yep but I’m guessing this not really a restoration
yes, I'm of the Dismantle and Restore school myself. Consider how much junk, rust, dirt, etc there must be buried in the seams, and all that is being ignored. Any place there is a join is a potential place for rust-through. I also would have taken the wheels OFF and checked the spindles, bearings, etc.
Exactly
And how long would that take? Months? Years? This guy is getting er done in a single weekend or two with minimal cost and tools. This car is never going to be a show car. The interior is gone. I think the work and finish look great.
@@josephfilm73 take your time
It is good to see that in last some little quality inspector… doing inspections
El amigo perruno inspeccionando la restauración y dio su aprobación!!!! Saludos desde Montevideo Uruguay
I was never much of a patina fan; especially when it’s fake but with this project; being that the car is all original I am starting to dig it in these cases. Little Walter is so cute; reminds me of our own little dog; by the way looks like he needs some paw washing and around the mouth; looks like he’s been running around the yard quite a bit 😂🤣🐶...great progress in this project; it’s going to be awesome. The challenge will be in driving it; totally different from even a Model A. There is a pedal (I believe the middle) for reverse!
Yeah driving it will be interesting 👍
Interesting about the aluminum panels. It wasn't the last time Ford used aluminum. When Ford came out with the Ford-Ferguson 9N tractor in 1939, the earliest tractors (about the first 800 or so) had cast aluminum hoods and side panels. They wanted to get them out the door faster than the stamping molds for steel hoods could be finished, thus the earliest had the aluminum casted hoods. Very few of those survived the strain and are worth a great deal of money nowadays. Loving the "T" series and Walter too!! I never took a magnet to my '26 Tudor when I had it- but I never did any body work to it either. Now I wish I tried it.
👍👍👍👍👍. I have learnt so much practical work from your video. I again appreciate your video.
Before it looked like the only thing holding it together was rust and force of will, now it’s just the Will.
Your Car is like Mine! Part Aluminum, Part Steel! And a lot of WOOD! I Tore Mine ALL Apart, And Sandblasted the Frame, Straightened it out, They Sag a tad over the Years, But not as bad as a Model A, Strangely Enough! Welded any cracks in My Finders blasted them, And had them and the frame and running boards Powder Coated! Along with New Springs and Wheels! I wish I had Wheels like Yours! But Mine are pretty nice! I just have to make sure there is 65 - 70 PSI in them! My Brother found My Car for Me, So We are going to make it look as if it was a few Years old! Not a trailer Queen, More Like a Clean King of the road! Your next project is going to be the engine! I know You have already done it! I bet it was a real JOY to do! Mine was not bad, until the Transmission, and the FLYWHEEL MAGNETO And Coils I had to replace! SHEEEEEESE! You have to install it all nose down! Time the planetary gears! Make sure the Drums are not cracked! one of Mine WAS! FUN, FUN, FUN! And getting the correct gap between the Mag coils and Magnets LORD!
I thought the original bodies were all steel?
Man that looks so much better than before! Good job. I think that is a paint job I could do on a car! Nice to see your pooch, Wally? Walter? I love seeing pets in these videos! Good job!
This is so hard to watch! It’s like the guy at the antique mall that has clear coated all the antiques in his booth, completely devaluing them in the process!
Unfortunately these cars don’t have much value to begin with. You could easily spend $20-30k restoring one and would only have a $10k car. I’m very surprised how expensive the parts are and how little the complete cars are worth. I really enjoy working on it but I expect to lose money in the process.
@@Jerod_Helt Sorry, I didn’t realize what you were trying to accomplish. When you painted the wheels red, I kinda lost it! LOL!!! But now that I’ve been following along, this project is coming along quite nicely!
i'm excited to see this run again
Me too 👍
I am amazed at how good the clear coat looks painted on! I have a ‘48 Ford F1 PU with ancient black. I’d like to preserve what remains of the finish. Do you think this would work?
Incredible what chemicals have been processed here.
With a sandblasting system that would have been 100% better.
Dude Thats a Beauty, My Dream Car. Looks like alot of fun. Thanks for Sharing.
I want to see you put the tires on the rims.
Watch episode 4 ua-cam.com/video/obhAvwpCIAE/v-deo.html👍
I enjoy your format, I get to see the project without all the quirky banter some like to go on with ,, I also like that you essentially left the car alone , so you can see it's 100 yrs of character ! But I disagree with the wheels , J MO, I would have stuck with Henry Ford ,, any color as long as it's black 😁 ,,, nice work though !!
Awesome "Horseless carriage" plate!
Think I would have painted it charcoal black and then clear-coated it
Love it - do they have a clear coat with less gloss? I might do my '31 Packard with that! You will get lots of interest and questions about the aluminum/steel combo used on the body. Great job
I wish they did have one with less gloss. I would prefer a matte finish👍
Very good videos. You have done an amazing work. I appreciate fully. But I think the Speedometer should have been near the driver instead of clock. May be depends upon the original placement .
The speedometer was an optional extra on these models. There was no original placement position.
why didn't you use a roller to do all that painting?
Looks great thanks
No hay que pulir nada antes de aplicar cualquier producto??
The clear coat came out really well. Is there a satin finish version as I have a 1960 Plymouth I would like to do that to?
I don’t think there is. But this got dull over time
@@Jerod_Helt thanks. It would be good to see a reference to that on a video as I am looking for more of a matt sheen type finish for my Plymouth. If it goes dull that might be the look I am after.
Is the sun visor, you know the visor on top of your wind shield, is it metal? I was just wondering because I never saw you treat it with Rust-Oleum or clear coat.
It’s fabric
This is the part I don’t agree with, I rather take it apart and do one part at the time and painted all in black.
still can't get over this thing having a clock, was a good many years before I owned one with a clock pretty sure the first few that had them didn't work..
Did I miss something? How did you remove the rust reformer after it did it's job?? Did you hose it off & then wash the car? Good video!
You don’t remove it. It dries then you paint over it 👍
The little dog wants to ride in it as soon as it is finished.
I hope you don't mind that walter was my favorite part of the video
Not at all😁
I think Walter approves.
when did u tear it apart and restore to new
I don’t
Won't be easier sandblaster?
Horseless carriage, you have to put that in the plate cause people could run for the magic car moving without horses
So beautiful
I found your comment that the body was part aluminum quite interesting. I always thought “T’s” were all steel. Does your car have a custom 3rd party coach by any chance? I didn’t think that the fabrication skills, particularly in aluminum, were not that mature in the 1920’s and I don’t think it would be cost effective, something the “T” famous for. Have you tried sticking a magnet to the car where you think aluminum is present? I am VERY curious.
My ‘23 needs rust attention. I am watching your process with great interest. You are lucky to start with a complete car. Mine is “whole”, runs and drives under it own power. My battle is stopping 90+ years of New England weather. I am thoroughly enjoying your video series. 👍
BTW, I like the rust patina look. 👍
I did try to stick a magnet to it, it did not stick. It’s definitely not steel and the paint seems to be original on the whole car so it’s most likely original from the factory.
Why not use the spray gun for the clear coat? Great work! 👏
It’s just easier. And less mess👍
I love the no sound and all the comments to say somebody would have done different let them do it you are doing wonderful thank you.
Looks good! What are the 2 products used?
Thanks buddy. I show the products in the video👍
Was curious about the "Clear Diamond Finish." Online the cans look different but I think it may look off color because of your tarp roof. Thanks
Yeah unfortunately the cover and also the GoPro camera affect the color of things. Red’s sometimes look orange in the videos. You can get the clear coat here www.kbs-coatings.com/?AffId=40
Thanks, I've been looking for something like that to use on old corn planters
Walter!
why are you using a brush?
Seems fitting for this project. I don't think many people had spray guns in 1923👍
Oh oh I saw a puppy dog !
Los videos están bien pero pára un próximo proyecto que sean mas amamos deber podrías poner música para que sea mas ameno ver lo
Model T will not have aluminum doors. Check with a magnet.
I’m pretty sure it’s aluminum. Definitely not steel👍
Surprised!!
A new “Fordor” sedan appeared in December 1922, which used aluminum panels throughout the body. The cowl section and lower body section were changed to steel during the year. There was no cowl vent in the early Fordor sedans but the vent was added during early 1923, before the change to the larger hood.
👍👍✌️
Why is he messing about with painting before restoring the engine, gears, electrics etc? This can’t be right surely.
El forcito se merece una buena restauración no está chapuza...lo salva el buen estado de la chapa nomas.....pero ni el abollon del capó le sacó el flaco...y dejar un auto sin pintar para mi es de vagos
This is what happens when this new generation watches a few youtube videos and they think they should restore a car. Shame really. Not only did he destroy structural wood components on the first day with a pressure washer but that's only half of the halfassery going on here.

Jeez ...., I subscribed because I thought I was going to see an interesting restoration. Guess I'll just move on to something else.
Ah Jeez... please don’t waist anymore time on this channel👍
frankly speaking I never sow a horrible car restoration like this... very bad
That clear coat was a bit disappointing
Yes it was
