Cedric & Omar's music and interviews have done more for me than any therapy or medicine I've ever used. I struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, and that leads to a lot of guilt, shame & self hatred. Omar has always had a way of tapping into the subconcious and tapping into new ways of thinking and I am grateful to be able to heal through his music 🫶🙏
I discovered them back in the Frances the Mute era, and since then they turned to be one of my fav bands. Well, all of their projects tbh. Through all this journey I realized Mars Volta can take the form of any genre. I think that is the big picture Omar and Cedric had in mind when they created the band. People is just attached to genres, but it's 2022 and that issue is over. Music is music, you enjoy it or you don't. And this album is actually gold 🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for the interview, greetings from Buenos Aires!

Lot of Jungian concepts being alluded to about their process. Fair play to Lowe for indexing the interview so well. Slowly realised if we were going to get consistent, crazy time signature awesome TMV releases then it'd kill more of those guys. Relieved to hear they've been able to settle down and start repairing. Hope to hear what's up if they want to relax more into Sunday morning vibes, still got those first albums to get back into anytime the wife goes out :D
That’s it right. We forget that they aren’t there to simply provide us with music to jam to. They are creating in different levels through their lives because they have something to express and they established an outlet for that. Therefore, if they are done with a certain phase or phrase, and to keep using it is going to damage them, who are we to demand more? This was a beautifully human conversation. Zane is so good at bringing it to the essence. Great guys, all.

wow this is incredible. love these guys. i got to meet cedric in 2016ish in portland at the restaurant where i was working, and he was one of the coolest guys i've ever met. thank you for this conversation. if you ever see this, cedric, thank you so much for that, and the show the same night. it meant -- and still means -- so much.
wow, omar is so beautifully thoughtfully spoken
Beautiful interview man. Real men cry. Bless TMV.
So happy at the return of the Volta! Going see them tomorrow night and will drive 6 hours just to see them again.
I’m so happy they’re doing well. Props to the interviewer for doing such a fantastic job.
Wow, such a rich and deep interview on many levels. "What's meant for you, will only be for you" ..... This interview was meant for me!
And this album is actually gold 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the interview, greetings from Buenos Aires!
🚀🚀🚀🙏🎶🎶🎶
It’s a space where no one can tell them ‘no’. That’s ultimately what The Mars Volta is. Where ANYTHING goes.
This interview is awesome. I really love the way that all of them talk about the past, the present, the music, the feelings. I was a big fan of Mars Volta in that years and now i'm so happy for their return. The new album is amazing!
Los Amo! Gracias por la música y por decir lo que piensan de la manera más elocuente! I love this interview. I saw TMV live in 2011... They sound better now 2022! Larga Vida a Mars Volta!
This interview reminded me why I look up to these guys so much
I never thought Mars Volta would make me cry, but they did. Great great interview, such a pleasure to listen these two
Zane is not wrong. Those Big Day Out performances in 04 were absolute PEAK live Volta.
Omar is a gift to the world.
One of the greatest interviews I’ve ever seen. So emotional and cathartic.
I absolutely love Omar's answer around 20:00. Very happy to hear his ego is in check
I love these guys so much and am so happy their friendship is in such a good place. Beautiful and truly inspiring
°insert bomb exploding sound effect° 💣🔥
That’s it right. We forget that they aren’t there to simply provide us with music to jam to. They are creating in different levels through their lives because they have something to express and they established an outlet for that. Therefore, if they are done with a certain phase or phrase, and to keep using it is going to damage them, who are we to demand more? This was a beautifully human conversation. Zane is so good at bringing it to the essence. Great guys, all.
Your wife isn’t into it? 😢 I’m hoping to turn my BF into a super fan after this October’s shows! I got tickets to two nights.
@@litgirlablaze3432 it's alright, she's just more cool headed than me :D. Plenty of overlap with other types of music. You gonna throw the BF into the deep end live, or slip him a few albums before?
Thought that too
"Primal scream therapy only works so much" geez that's gonna stay with me forever
These x2 provided me the soundtrack of my life and i am eternally thankful
It's not coincidence that I came because I am such a huge TMV fan and ended listening for some good ol' therapy. Glad to see my youth idols are, like myself, caring for their mental health too. It takes huevos for going out there and being vulnerable.
The past couple of years have been some of the worst for me personally but when I see my 2 favorite bands release new music (RHCP and TMV) - I forget about all the troubles. Thank you Omar and Cedric for such a soulful interview.
I could watch this interview over and over. It's so insightful on so many levels.
im crying yall
so happy for the boys.
the concept of burnout as an artist is put on such a poignant display from the exchange at 43:30 is one of the most important things to be aware of if you're going to make music for life.
The mars volta is the best band in the universe 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Incredible interview. The best band in the world.
man...find you a homie that you can love and treasure the way ced and and omar love each other.
I had kind of written this album off, didnt bother listening, but this video changed my mind entirely. Beautiful and eloquent. Thank you for being best friends!
So happy they are back! Love the new album and long may they reign! Amazing interview, I laughed, I cried, 5/5.
, ,
I laughed, I cried, and I danced
I love the heartfelt condescension of the Mars Volta.
"You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means."
Wow, I’m only 14 min in, and I would have never thought I needed this. Talking about fatherhood, family and friendship in such a healthy way. TMV got me through some hard times and I didn’t realize they still are.
I love these guys since 2000s , they made just pure Art , I love everything they do
When I heard they got back together I got emotional, they are so talented and they make great music together. I'm so happy
I love the mars volta and props to zane lowe this interview is amazing
I always loved the Mars Volta lyrics and AtDI before that. The poetic feel they always have. "Starting with gibberish and then putting words to it" (17:12) answered, at least in part, how the lyrics come about and sound so weird and enlightening at the same time. Thanks for taking up Mars Volta again!
Mars Volta on Tiny Desk needs to happen!
For quoting purposes: "anything that takes the air out of a room and makes you feel like you're in the trailer of your own movie...that's proper pop music" -Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Apple Music Interview, 2022. A necessary citation to keep in our pockets.
A mí también me dan aún escalofríos de escucharos. Gracias por tanto🤩
After the doc this interview has a new prism
