I used to have terrible oral health. My dentist now reports “you have the gums of a healthy teenager” By following this routine and sticking to a Blueprint diet, my mouth is the healthiest it’s ever been in my adult life.
@@APMATT I brushed a long time without fluoride, it's a bad idea. Also most floss string contain PFAS. Extra tip is chew xylitol gum, it creates saliva and helps the teeth.
Before I really knew who Bryan Johnson was, the media made him seem like some wacko who wanted to live forever, but as I explored it further, I realize now he's just a guy who wants to give out good health advice and help people. He's really cool.

Dental hygienist here. Stop using your electric toothbrush like a manual one! Just hold it at the gumline for a few seconds before moving on to the next area. No need to scrub back and forth as it causes gum recession.
Uh oh I use an electric one and then go in with a manuel one to make sure I scrub my tongue and the roof of my mouth. I still use floss and a tongue scraper. I do mouthwash and follow everything up with coconut oil. I need to replace my water pik.
I’m a dentist and I 100% agree with all your recommendations. It’s very rare that I say that, but anyone following this advice will improve their oral health.
Fair enough. I do recommend fluoride. It’s a very hard thing to filter out so most likely the general population will have some fluoride in their diet, either from bottled beverages or municipal water. It may be shocking to say, but if people follow his recommendations, and skip fluoride, they likely still will see benefits. It is about balancing the bad bacteria that causes caries. Fluoride isn’t the only way to do it… it’s just an easy way to do it. It strengthens enamel and promotes favorable bacteria.
As a dentist, I was a bit reluctant to click on this video, (preparing to get showered with BS info). But I was pleasantly surprised to see that he had done his research and actually shared a lot of valuable information. Thanks for the video!
@tessnf Unfortunately that's the only part that I'd have to disagree on. But each to their own! He's still doing better than 99 percent of the people out there!
You are a brave one Bryan. You remind me of my oldest son. He fights depression valiantly, climbed mountains, sailed the Atlantic in a small boat with crew of three, did wilderness trainings that were so scary to me. He was in the USAF and deployed twice during Iraq war. Two divorces. Both were tragic. But he looks almost as young as you do at 53! Has always eaten carefully, though tends to get radical. Teeth are great so far. Red head. Skin as white as snow. Lol. We used to tease him and tell him to put long pants on because his legs were blinding us.😂 Keep sharing your amazing life with us. I just got my first shipment of Snake Oil today and I’m having a hard time tossing out the packaging! It’s so clever. ❤
As a dental hygienist, I agree with this routine. I would only switch the order of flossing and brushing first, then use Waterpik because you need to loosen up plaque by brushing and flossing and then flush the remaining plaque out with Waterpik. Extremely important information about bruxism since MANY people don’t know they clench/grind.
Bryan, I like how you're letting some of your quirky personality into the videos and being yourself more and not trying to be what others want to see. Keep being you dude!
I only started flossing properly when I paid for Invisalign in my 20s and boy do you miss a lot of food in between the teeth after brushing! Mouthwash will NOT suffice either, make sure you guys floss. Anyone with erupted wisdom teeth, I recommend you get a water flosser, especially if you notice your breath starts to smell despite brushing.
40% of your teeth don’t get hit when you brush… Flossing sucks but it’s super helpful. Never was into it in my youth, luckily I didn’t have any problems
I must say that water pressure flossing seems to be working. As studies shows that depending on how you floss you still have a lot of potential bacteria. Actually it’s more important to focus on good brushing that flossing
@TreCayUltimateLife the wisdom tooth is the third molar. Often times when it erupts it doesn't do it properly so that part of the gingiva is on top of it so that food, bacteria and pus can accumulate there. This is why he is talking about water picking, cuz that way you can clean that area. Ideally though you would just extract the tooth
I really appreciate this video. I’ve been in a very complex and difficult stage of grief for the last 2 years, whereby I was on ‘autopilot’ (caring for the kids well, doing the minimum for myself and often less so). I don’t think I even looked at my teeth for the best part of those 2 years, let alone cleaned them or visited a dentist. I’m now ready to face any damage I have done to my oral health and pick up a new regime. I purchased an electric toothbrush, replacement heads, waterpick, dental floss, mouthwash and some other bits to gently ease away build up. Surprisingly, my mouth looks ok (at least by sight alone). Gums were bleeding easily, but I’m on week 2 of my new oral health lifestyle and they are bleeding significantly less and look much better already. I am looking forward to your video to see if I’m missing out on any other important pointers, thank you in advance.
@@haza123b4 I must be honest, I still have days where I don’t do the full routine twice a day, learning to take care of myself again is progress in the making. However, most days I’m on top of it and it’s going fab! My gums are hardly bleeding if even at all, whereas before they would bleed even when I ate food. Cosmetically, I think (I hope) I’ve caught it in time, as my teeth still “look” fine. I’m actually enjoying the process of it all, so we are still going strong but with room for improvement. Something I never had thought of or had anticipated was the confidence it has given me, I used to be afraid to talk to people close up incase my breath was bad or they saw gross stuff on my teeth. Now, I’m not afraid to smile widely and naturally, I’m confident to speak to people, kiss my husband again, and hug my friends. Life is great. Thank you so much for asking, that’s a very kind comment.
I implore you to check out the work of Dr. Ellie Phillips. You need to address the acidic environment of your mouth. I've been using her complete mouth care system for 6 weeks now and my teeth have never felt cleaner, stronger or brighter. Xylitol mints or crystals are essential. Must be pure with no glycerine. Grief and stress actually contribute to an acidic mouth.
@vickis.9363 I'm on it too! And I can sense my breath isn't bad anymore. I could taste it in the back of my throat before. My tongue is pink also. I'm yet to be able to see an improvement in my gum recession but I know that's a difficult one. Goodluck in your Dr Ellie journey!
Thank you Bryan, I have been a dental hygienist for 24 years. I can relate to a lot of your personal background you share in your content. I really appreciate how accurate this education is. And you covered the important part! Measuring the periodontium. I can’t tell you how many time I diagnose someone with advanced periodontal disease and explain what it is, I show them the bone loss on their own X-rays. And when we are done they say, cool so no cavities? There needs to be more awareness and it needs to come from people like you. This is the best UA-cam video I have seen that covers oral care in a comprehensive manner. Thank you! You are sincerely a good person 🩵
Thank you for these videos Bryan. My health has been in a really bad place after a long run of drinking. I've quit and I am starting back on the track. My health sucks right now, but these videos give me motivation to keep pushing hard and get it back where it needs to be.
Dude, I did the same thing. My dog died due to "gross veterinary negligence and malpractice" (currently suing them) ... anyway - I started drinking pretty heavily. Like - I was putting down a half-gallon a day. Kept that up for almost two years. My blood pressure went through the roof, I gained nearly 40 lbs - it was horrible. I started going to the gym (and yes, I was going drunk ... but at least I was going), started eating raw fruits & veggies with fish/chicken/meat, and after a while, the drinking started to fade into the background. I had a few drinks recently and it was not even close to enjoyable. The alcohol did its job - I wrapped my mourning up - started taking better care of myself - one day I just didn't want to drink anymore. Three months later I was rockin' a sixpack, put on some muscle and tone, and my blood pressure came down from about 140/95 to around 110/70. The drinking definitely had some lasting effects though. If I eat too much salt or have any sugar my blood pressure rockets right back up for about a day. But I don't do that too often. Anyway - danix0001 is right. You're not alone. Just keep at it man. I'm living proof that it's possible. You got this! PS - if you need to talk or anything like that, message me on my channel - or go to one of the websites listed on my channel and shoot an email my way. You can do it! I mean, I did it and I'm nothing special. You CAN do it.

That’s fantastic! I’m going through the same journey currently, and it’s the most excitement I’ve felt in a long time. I’m 43, I’ll have 17 months clean and sober this week, I’ve lost 45lbs, left a toxic, long-term relationship, developed a routine around my physical and mental health, just accepted a position at the treatment center that saved my life 1.5 years ago, and am very much starting to see the results of these changes in ways I wouldn’t have expected-fully in transformation mode! These changes truly feel like a superpower. Having spent so many years enveloped with negative behaviors and mindset made me lose sight of how good things can be. I get frustrated along the way that things aren’t happening fast enough, BUT as we all know anything worth having is hard and takes time. Calm seas never a skilled sailor did make. Keep it up, you go this!
As a dentist I agree with everything said except for the tongue scraping , you can scrape it from time to time but if done too often it will cause overgrowth of the papillae on the surface of the tongue hence collecting more microbes and bacteria
Oh, interesting! I scrape my tongue but not daily, maybe every couple weeks, maybe I could do it a little more often but I won't worry about not doing it daily, thank you
You agree with him using toothpaste without fluor? I assume you missed that part. Lastly, I would argue something is a bit up when he feels the need to use Xylitol mouthwash (a sugar that starves bacteria to death because they cant use it) to avoid human interaction level bad breath. That is not normal. It actually sounds like someone with too much bacteria that does a "genocide" of them to avoid temporary smell they produce, rather than fixing the issue.
@@Lobos222if you mean toothpaste without fluoride , I know many holistic fans dislike fluoride but I highly recommend it for all ages , not just anti cavity but also anti sensitivity especially after a deep teeth cleaning and or whitening . about mouth washes, I've never used a mouthwash in my life , its a medicine that I might prescribe for periodontal disease only after deep cleaning and for only few days , although I haven't recommended it to anyone yet , I instead sometimes advice (water+ sodium bicarbonate) rinse but still its only for certain conditions and not just for bad breath , bad breath main reason is carbohydrates intake. I know the (non chlorhexidine) rinses are labeled daily use but I still see it as a chemical that is not needed , personally my best mouth rinse and breath freshener is simply cucumber !
Keep up the good work Bryan, as a college student I really appreciate how you make me question everything I do and you have really been a positive voice in my mind that forces me to make healthier decisions. Thank you.
3:11 "these pass because they don't have fluoride" isn't it recommended that your toothpaste have fluoride because it is associated with several benefits? I'd love if anyone could clarify on this.
Absolutely. In some states of the US they do not add fluoruide to their water, so it's common that when someone not from the area goes to the dentist, the dentist knows instantly that they're not from there due to their teeth. My dad was a dentist for 20 years too, he always recommends fluoride.
Harmful effects on pineal gland (part of brain/your soul) and independent studies are coming out against it for both that and because it breaks down entire bones, like knees
I use a prescription 5000 ppm high fluoride toothpaste. My mother was prescribed the fluoride paste and I asked for it also to try to prevent future dental work as much as possible. Dentist will help you keep your teeth healthy but they love it when you have to get extensive dental work because it pays their bills.
Very good video and recs (from a dentist). We also digitally scan our patients and overlap the scans from the years to monitor tooth wear, movement, recession, etc. always good to have a baseline.
Well, not 100% for free. This guy is knowledgeable but he is also selling products, most of his videos are some form of advertisement as well as an info dump. He's using affiliate links so he is profiting off these videos.
Amazing info! I’m genuinely so proud, Bryan. Consider this video dentist-approved. The only thing I would say however, is you don’t have to completely cut-out fluoride from your toothpaste if you’re afraid of toxicity levels.. chances are, the amount of F you get from toothpastes is barely enough to give you the benefits to strengthen your teeth’s enamel and decrease chances of decay or at least it’s duration, without having to worry about toxicity because it doesn’t reach that level easily. As long as no as you follow the ADA’s guidelines of brushing daily from 2-3 times and using a pea-sized amount of paste, then you are good to go. Those who get toxicity are likely children who have ingested large amounts of toothpaste by mistake and there are ways to manage it also. It’s really not dangerous if you follow the recommended amount, and at the end of the day it is really beneficial for your teeth & cheaper in price too in comparison to other similarly used components. And remember.. “good things come to those who floss” :)
Is it to rinse? I got gum recession and sensitivity. Would it be ok? I already drink warm water with sea salt in the morning and its being so good! Everytime a Flu attempted to come it would go away just by drinking it in the morning.
Salt water has been a classic thing since forever. Not just rinse the mouth but to gurgle as well for throat health and to suck up and “sneeze” out for sinus health. Also good for scalp along with vineagar. After doing teeth care a bit of gurgling coconut out around the mouth is also good to reduce inflammation

At least here in Germany it failed quite a lot of tests. Especially for its: titanium dioxide as well as Sodium lauryl sulfate Best regards
I'm curious to know Bryan's answer to No. 2 as well. With regard to SLS, it's not a terrible ingredient per se and is in many products. It definitely does cause irritation/adverse reaction in many people that said.
Hi Bryan. I'm preparing my own protocol, based in part on yours, and I've read an interesting study that advises against brushing your tongue, since it's on the tongue itself that nitric acid is produced, which passes to your stomach and from there to all your cells. Greetings! 🤙
fluorides are important if you have a high score of risk of cavities (bad brushing technique, lots of sugar in your diet, a past of cavities, hyposalivation). if you dont have any of these issues then you can be without fluorides but you will increase your risk of cavities cause fluorides biochemicaly help in the prevention of demineralizarion and help in the remineralization if you have active dental plaque
Fluoride is great for preventing tooth decay. He mentioned Xylitol, thats great too & it’s in some brands of gum. So if you like to chew gum, make sure it’s sugar free and contains xylitol.
Yo Brian.. you need to change your electric toothbrush for a one that works by vibration instead of the one you're using which rubs your teeth doing a mechanical movement. The mechanical rubbing wears your enamel faster since it's harsher. Also you want to use a toothpaste with a low abrasive effect (I use Yotuel licorice mint.. it's also the best taste out there ✌🏼)
@@deanmoriarty5883he’s using one that works by vibration. However he’s still brushing with it like most people do without realizing they are not supposed to. He just needs to let it do the work instead of brushing with it.

Years ago it helped improve my oral health. Now that my baseline is back to ideal I have not needed it in my protocol " So for rest of us it's still a great activity.

We love you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️👍
Absolutely Bryan. I’ve been using a water pic for years and it gets all of the food out from in between your teeth and around your gum line. I usually fill mine with Mouthwash, in order to kill all the germs while I’m at it. Then brush really well with an electric toothbrush and make sure I get my tongue and top of my mouth where bacteria can hide out. It leaves your mouth feeling nice and fresh, along with your breath. Hope all is well with you. I love your videos and the fact that you are teaching people how to take care of themselves. It’s really cool to see your journey to the fountain of youth.
I brushed my teeth every day. But in 2020 I got an infected cavity because I switched to non-fluoride toothpaste for a few months. Later in 2024 I had to get a root canal because the pain was unbearable and the tooth wasn't improving. I would like to know how you came to the conclusion of using non-fluoride
It depends on the kind of non fluoride toothpaste, many are terrible but I've found Dr bronners is a good one, a lot of non fluoride toothpaste just contains nothing at all that does anything for your teeth
I slept with my mouth wide open every night, turning my mouth into a dried out nightmare. I finally started taping my mouth shut, and that made all the difference.
@carnicavegirl7214 a dry mouth, whatever the cause, is tragic for oral health. I was spending 30% of my life with a dried out mouth. Literally overnight my oral health improved 100%.
Fluoride is an amazing mineral for your teeth and you should prefer it in your tooth pastes. It forms fluoroapatite which a stronger form of hydroxyappatite from which your tooth is made of.
It’s very good for teeth and has some degree of affect on bones but it calcifies and deteriorates your brain over time, not some crazy conspiracy theory just basic chemistry/biology
Studies show this… studies show that… lol fluoride isn’t that great for your overall health but the negligible amount one absorbs during brushing teeth shouldn’t be that much of an issue. It’s the fluoride in the water we should be worried about
• Waterpik • Dr. Tung’s floss • Fluoride-Free toothpaste • Tongue scraper • Xylitol mouthwash (for bad breath) • Biannual cleaning at the dentist • SomnoDent device/other mouth guard • Avoid sugar, Careful w/ acidic liquids • Check for a dry mouth condition • Check pocket depth/attachment loss/plaque index/gum bleeding I would also suggest coconut oil pulling, nearly every day. Swash a little coconut oil in your mouth for 10 minutes. Happy healing! ✨
Bryan, I do the same protocol…but I floss first then water pick. I noticed my health improved when I flossed first because it breaks everything up then the water pick cleans up the rest.
I recently drank Coke Zero by the liter for almost two weeks straight during vacation (I usually never do) and started to get tooth pain. I was wondering whether this was due to my enamel being eroded by the Coke Zero. I will get this checked by my doctor ASAP - thank you for spreading awareness for these important and impactful health tips, Bryan!
Luckily, I don't like Coke nor Pepsi. I'm sure Sprite and Fanta aren't helpful either, but I'm trying my best, man. Especially with this deadly and painful disease I was born with. Doesn't help the fact that headaches and storms make my brain process things much slower >:( I mean, my brain processes things faster than AI usually, but those two things and waking up tired and being constantly tired because of the disease itself and meds is not helping me. I even forget about the most important things I need to do to keep myself alive and well, and it just so happens that I forget my teeth more than anything else as if my body is stuck in the era where we had nothing but the animals around us for food and no cleaning 😭 Seriously... I can't use lotions because they make my skin sensitive and all six senses are already pretty sensitive so I don't need that despite the fact that my legs will always be ashy if I don't find something better than Vaseline... Even Dove's products make me itchy since I'm technically allergic to pork(yes they use pork in their soaps. They use pork, chicken and corn like it's the salt of the earth 🤢). It's like I'm a woman with male skin and I hate it honestly. I don't like my skin being so utterly dry like it was when I wasn't using lotion cause I couldn't find anything that worked with being a problem and now it's gonna be that way again because of how stupidly dangerous humans are. All of those chemicals we don't need and the unnecessary lies that will only hurt those that make said lies and those that believe it and those that get forced into it. I'm sure we can find something purely made out of plants to put on our bodies instead OF FKING ANIMAL FAT! I love eating certain animals don't get me wrong, but it's putting it on our bodies that seems like it would do more harm ON us instead of when ingested... What if rocks also have feelings like plants do?🤔🤔🤔 Sorry, I'm more curious than a cat but at least I know when to run, hide and kill if necessary and plausible... Even in the times I don't, the universe is there to make sure I don't die despite the fact I very much want to because anything in this world is not worth it for as long as I have this disease... Even though I have died more than twice because of who and what I am... The only reason it's keeping me alive now is because it's truly the end and this is the last century, last decade... For some reason, it's probably the answer to getting my features and the rest of my powers back... I feel like it's more than that but I haven't gotten anything else rn. It's possible that I was tripping or it's too late. It's the only reason I've been doing experiments on myself in the first place; To figure out why I don't feel human and if these powers are the only ones I have and why I have such a strong connection to the spiritual realm and souls... Apparently I'm suppose to be y'all's Savior ;-; :/ wish you humans could help me, but y'all don't know anything helpful for my problems 😔 plus, some are disguised but are demons, some are controlled by demons and some are humans that are just straight up evil. Luckily one of my powers that I got back so far is the one where I can tell who's evil and who's controlled by hugging them 🙃 I wish I could tell just by looking into their eyes deep into their soul, but nope. At least not yet... We'll see with time although gotta hurry. 2025 is when things get more dangerous. I just hope and pray it's not a z apocalypse but meteors. Maybe even aliens that will listen to what you have to say first before figuring out if they should k!ll you on site x~x Anything that isn't like zombies for our sake! I suffered from massive, quick plaque buildup, which would then turn into tartar almost immediately. It was so bad, I had to get a professional dental cleaning 3 to 4 times a year. Here is what I did to stop this: Instead of a classic dental cleaning, I went to a guided biofilm therapy, more precise, less damage to the teeth, better result. I then used an antiotic anti biofilm mouthwash (Perio aid active control) for 3 days, 2 times a day, while simultaneously taking a special probiotic for my mouth (GUM PerioBalance) for a month. This was actually the game changer: I had a bacterial disbalance in my mouth, now it is solved. I also use multiple toothbrushes, I have a Philips Sonicare with regular brushes, a wooden manual tooth brush with active charcoal brushes, those are rather hard, I use it only two or three times per week. In addition, I also use an ultrasonic toothbrush 3 times per week. My teeth just stay clean now and don't need professional cleaning all the time.
3:10 these pass because they don't contain fluoride? wait I heard so many times dentists say it's the only important component in toothpaste was that kinda a lie?
No it’s definitely not a lie, please listen to your dentist! There’s huge amounts of evidence to prove the benefits of flouride and only conspiracy theories that tell you to avoid it 🫠
@@DamianAI9 the truth is you should not consume fluride so crazy people assumed that fluoride paste is bad for you. Just don't swallow it and you will be ok. Not a single study proves that fluoride pastes are harmful.
1. A person needs a healthy biofilm. 2. Brush twice daily. Once in the morning upon waking and once in the evening. 3. Floss once daily, preferably in the evening. I never get cavities, nor pockets, nor plaque and I'm over 50.
@@TheAnimeKers I always floss before brushing. That's what makes sense to me. As far as biofilm, I don't know why some people have a healthier one than others. For instance, my son is like me and doesn't get cavities. He uses a plain manual toothbrush and flosses. His father has endless dental issues, yet he uses an electric toothbrush, xylitol, etc.
@LisaCulton Genetics. Some say the contents of your saliva may vary. Some people just have bad teeth due to genetics and no amount of dental care will cure it. Sure dental hygiene helps but there are people who never brush or floss and do not get cavities. Women also may find after pregnancy that they lose teeth or get cavities more easily. Maybe mineral dysregulation. There is also stress which increase teeth grinding at night. Don't know if autoimmune conditions play a part but some may make the person drier overall.
@TheAnimeKers Flossing is bad as it drives bad bacteria into the gums and bloodstream. See Dr. Ellie Phillips complete mouth care system to learn how to restore your teeth's natural biofilm.
I would check out Dr Ellie Phillips mouth care system if you want to reverse cavities and prevent them. To my surprise Bryan’s oral care routine was a bit underwhelming… and some parts may even be outright wrong (like getting a cleaning every 6 months). If you are taking proper care of your mouth there should be absolutely 0 plague build up and therefore no reason to get a cleaning.
Completely agree with you. For someone who is that much into self improvement and health he has no clue when it comes to oral health 🤪I do like Dr. Ellie's approach even though I do not use her mouth care system.
It is good to go to your dentist every 6 months for a thorough cleaning and to see if anything is askew. Weird advice telling people NOT to see their dentist. Also, his oral care routine is sound. It doesn't need to be anything over the top at all. Even just brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing once will help most people avoid getting cavaties. - a person that hasn't had cavaties in over 10 years.
@@leslieclawson6319 aight you little nitwit I never said not to see the dentist I said getting a cleaning shouldn’t be necessary if you’re taking proper care of your mouth.

My teeth have never felt cleaner and there is absolutely no need for a dental cleaning at this point. I'm overjoyed. Teeth are whiter, brighter, stronger, smoother than ever before. @BryanJohnson I think the best Complete Mouth Care System is the one by (Dentist) Dr. Ellie Phillips, that is a routine based on a pre-rinse with chlorine (gum cleaning, pH rise before brushing); brushing with sodium fluoride toothpaste (for enamel remineralization with fluoride-hydroxiapatite); then rinse with original listerine (essential oils that kill germs in their immature form): rinse with act flouride rinse (enamel remineralization with fluoride-hydroxiapatite, that is harder than hydroxiapatite). Then xilitol after each meal. Anyway thanks for shaing you're very inspirining!!
@@BulletMagnetJB not all but some can kill off to much bacterials in you. Not just the bad ones but also the good ones. Too little studies to totally claim if this is an issue. Bryan (and to everyone else interested in improving your oral health), I highly recommend reading *Cure Tooth Decay: Heal and Prevent Cavities with Nutrition* by Ramiel Nagel. It's a great book about oral health. (I know you already have your own diet, but you may learn some things.) What I like about this book is that it's very honest and tells you all its sources.
By coincidence, I just got this book yesterday. Ramiel Nagel also has another very good book called Cure Gum Disease Naturally, for anyone with gum issues.
@BryanJohnson I have an important question: is your team only composed of MD doctors? Do you have phd researchers as consultant? I'm curious about some "mistakes" like the sensodyn or telo 0:04 mere or use of some toxin in your protocol.
Regarding bad body odour or bad breathe, can also be fixed by going to the toilet frequently, the more you eat the more toilet visits you should be going, if not you have poor digestive function and or maybe a problem with your health. The cause of bad breathe comes from inside the stomach and body also, so if you eat one meal a day and you go toielkt one time too for that no2 business, you likely have no bad breatrhe or body odour issues, in a perfect world you would be exercising and sweating out toxins already, with this method, but yeah brushing teeth is also a necessity. Also when visiting the dentist , ask them first if you need teeth cleaning, if you don't need it, don't do it, because your teeth have a bio film over them, and if you keep getting teeth cleaning your essentially removing natural barrier against all sorts of problems.
As a dentist, there's only one thing I don't understand: why do you use fluoride-free toothpaste? Fluoride reduces demineralization of enamel, promotes the remineralization of enamel, and inhibits bacterial metabolism.
1. Dental Fluorosis: This is the most evident risk associated with excessive fluoride intake during the early years of tooth development. Fluorosis can cause varying degrees of tooth discoloration and surface irregularities, from mild white spots to severe staining and pitting. The condition is cosmetic but indicates overexposure to fluoride. 2. Skeletal Fluorosis: Long-term exposure to high levels of fluoride can lead to skeletal fluorosis, a bone disease that involves the accumulation of fluoride in the bones, making them extremely hard yet more brittle over time. This condition can lead to pain, damage to bones and joints, and increased risk of fractures. 3. Thyroid Function: There is some evidence to suggest that excessive fluoride exposure might be linked to impaired thyroid function. High levels of fluoride might interfere with thyroid hormones, which are critical for regulating metabolism. Studies suggest that populations consuming higher amounts of fluoride can have an increased risk of hypothyroidism, characterized by low levels of thyroid hormone. 4. Neurological Development Issues: Some studies have suggested a potential link between high fluoride exposure and neurodevelopmental issues. Research, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses, indicates that high fluoride exposure might be associated with lower IQ scores in children. These studies often reference regions with naturally high fluoride levels in water, raising concerns about less controlled fluoride exposures. 5. Endocrine Disruption: Fluoride is also suspected of affecting other endocrine organs besides the thyroid, including the pineal gland, which regulates melatonin and sleep patterns. Some research suggests that fluoride could accumulate in the pineal gland, potentially affecting its function.
One thing I didn't realise until recent years is you're not meant to rinse your mouth out with water after you brush...just spit and leave it. Let what's left remain on your teeth.
@@BulletMagnetJB the dentist says that if you don't rinse and just spit, the fluoride has more time to work on your teeth. BUT a neurologist would tell you that recent studies suggest that fluoride is a neurotoxin. Is it worth it to better your teeth at the cost of your brain? Take my friendly advice, rinse it away.
@@AndroidAquaponicsTech lots of endogenus things (things within the body) are neurotoxic! Calcium, magnesium, cholride, sodium - without these you would die within a matter seconds but are also neurotoxic. Signalling molecules like glutamate and nitric oxide are neurotoxic. Vitamins are neurotoxic - are we going to stop eating broccoli, carrots, berries over fear of neurotoxicity from vitamin A? How about stop eating meat because vitamin B is neurotoxic? I’m not trying to argue with you and I hope you can see how more information is needed when considering what to put into our bodies
I WISH I would have seen / known this when I was, say, 5 yrs old! My mother used sweets to nurture and I guess, 'control' her kids...we had MANY homemade deserts including: chocolate chip cookies, rhubarb pie, blackberry pie, lemon meringue pie and last but not least, 'colach' a Czech pastry, light bread filled with a poppy seed paste.... after dinner (well, not all at the same time, lol)!!. Anyway, ALL were amazing - delicious and loaded with sugar! I remember how I associated "LOVE' with the warm, freshly baked sweets...I seldom remember being asked to "brush your teeth"! Consequently I now have difficult issues with my teeth but this video is helpful and gives NEW information that my dental hygienist and dentist NEVER mentioned... at all! So I like many others am very appreciative of that! I see SO many young and house-less people on the streets of my city (Portland Oregon) with NO teeth! I hope and pray that public health care in this country will SOON change and ALL will have access to the SAME health care including mental health AND dental care! This video should be shown to ALL elementary school kids (I am an elementary school teacher) along with all of the necessary "tools" to maintain lifelong, healthy teeth. ALL schools and ALL economic levels should have good health and dental care! Everyone deserves vibrant health as Bryan is now purposing!
My observation: Brushing at night before bed and after lunch is better than brushing in the morning and at night. As per logic is: 1. Night Brushing: Cleans your mouth before you sleep, preventing bacteria build-up overnight. 2. Morning Saliva: When you wake up, your mouth is still clean since you haven’t eaten or drunk anything. Morning saliva is beneficial for your stomach because it contains enzymes that aid digestion. By brushing in the morning, you wash away this beneficial saliva. 3. Post-Lunch Brushing: Cleaning your teeth after lunch removes food particles and reduces the risk of cavities and bad breath. "Avoid morning brushing" Because there zero benefits That the point
I think this video is really concerning. Giving the recommendation to use toothpaste without Flouride without giving explanation on why you leave it out of your routine and what trade-offs you are making by doing so will definitly harm some people. They will watch the video, don't have your sugar free diet and are maybe to lazy to do everything you do in your routine and end up only replacing the toothbrush they are using with one that does not contain flouride, because that is the easiest thing to do out of all the things in your routine. Now they essentielly removed the one thing that actually protected their teeths.
Fluoride is a neuro toxin. Plenty of double blind peer reviewed studies that show this. It shouldn’t be in anything . Especially our drinking water . As for toothpaste, even if you don’t swallow any , you’re still getting it into the blood stream . Try taking a dissolvable pill for example, 20 seconds in your mouth and it’s gone . Same goes for fluoride toothpaste .
Now the nuances between types of toothbrushes types of floss and rinses and when and how many times to floss or brush would be a great future video. I find that trying new flosses and oral health items really helps me re-engage my interest in my oral care routine.
Awesome thank you so much for helping society in the world and going against big government and big corporations. They are not here for our benefit but you are.
I brushed my teeth every day. But in 2020 I got an infected cavity because I switched to non-fluoride toothpaste for a few months. Later in 2024 I had to get a root canal because the pain was unbearable and the tooth wasn't improving. I would like to know how you came to the conclusion of using non-fluoride.
What I don't like about heavy relying on external ways to manage oral health (that is opposite to relying on mostly carnivore died) is that it eliminates symptoms, but doesn't remove the real cause of bad oral health: the bad nutrition. Also think that you can clean your mouth, but what about esophagus? Stomach? Intestines? Are you sure they are clean enough and don't suffer without proper cleaning, like in your mouth? I think such questions are hard to answer regarding our body's complexity, and the best thing is to consume mostly meat to fight the cause of bad oral health and not the symptoms.
Was going to say, strange he's not doing oil pulling. Also strange he's talking about covering bad breath, because if your gut is healthy you don't have bad breath.
@@maddysweden2179not always the case. Its bacteria in the mouth festering. But he said only when he is coming into close contact with others, is when he uses wash, just as an extra preventative
NANO-hydroxyapatite toothpaste should be heavily recommended here, also mention fluorides downsides. Neurotoxin. Replaces hydroxyapatite in teeth with fluorapatite which makes them more brittle and yellows them and makes them transparent. Fluoride also causes skeletal fluorosis which will greatly hurt longevity. Also, vit D, boron, k2 are nutrients that will improve the health of teeth in the long run.
Sugar isn't just bad for your teeth, but also bad for your gums. If you often have mouth ulcers look into your diet. It's quite possible that you consume too much sugar, which weakens the gums and eventually causes mouth ulcers. Besides that I use a tooth paste without SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), which also helps reduce my mouth ulcers. SLS is a foaming agent used in tooth paste, shampoo, shower gel, and liquid soap which is known to cause mouth ulcers. If you wonder what brand, it's Zendium, but it's only sold in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Scandinavia. Hope this helps anyone dealing with mouth ulcers.
@marcolino708 You're talking about stannous fluoride, which is bad. Must be sodium fluoride in a .05 solution. Even our bodies make fluoride. See Dr. Ellie Phillips..
i used to grind my teeth a lot too but my solution was being mindful of where i put my tonghe like if its touching the top of your mouth its veery likely you will vacuum your mouth cavity resulting in grinding your teeth however if you keep it at the bottom... your jaw muscles wont contract enough to grind your teeth i cant floss because my teeth are too close together.. well maybe i could but its bloody annoying. all problems i got with my teeth is cause of fizzy drinks + sugary desserts i used to drink and eat a lot of those daily while not using mouthwash or high pH water to wash it away.. i only get cavities on the front top of my teeth which is the worst, thats cause acid gets stuck to my gums.. but no problems with my gums thats down to genetics been told that by my dentist. solved the tongue issues and bad breath chewing mastix gum, it was literally solved in a flash

Uh oh I use an electric one and then go in with a manuel one to make sure I scrub my tongue and the roof of my mouth. I still use floss and a tongue scraper. I do mouthwash and follow everything up with coconut oil. I need to replace my water pik.
I’ve spoken to loads of family members who use the electric like a manual and were really surprised.
I’m a dentist and I 100% agree with all your recommendations. It’s very rare that I say that, but anyone following this advice will improve their oral health.
Even the toothpaste without fluoride?
Fair enough. I do recommend fluoride. It’s a very hard thing to filter out so most likely the general population will have some fluoride in their diet, either from bottled beverages or municipal water. It may be shocking to say, but if people follow his recommendations, and skip fluoride, they likely still will see benefits. It is about balancing the bad bacteria that causes caries. Fluoride isn’t the only way to do it… it’s just an easy way to do it. It strengthens enamel and promotes favorable bacteria.

Your videos are so informative without the fluff, I appreciate that very much. Its enjoyable to watch
40% of your teeth don’t get hit when you brush…
Flossing sucks but it’s super helpful.
Never was into it in my youth, luckily I didn’t have any problems
hey what do you mean by erupted wisdom teeth?
On your boat, started really caring for teeth after Invisalign
*How is it going?*
Good luck on your journey mate. You are not alone. Keep up the work :)

As a dentist I agree with everything said except for the tongue scraping ,
you can scrape it from time to time but if done too often it will cause overgrowth of the papillae on the surface of the tongue hence collecting more microbes and bacteria
I was searching for this comment. I think scientific studies also tend to find more cancer in tongue scraping people.

@BryanJohnson can you please explain why you use fluoride-free toothpaste? All the dentists and the ADA recommend toothpaste with fluoride
Commenting to boost this comment. Because I also was under the impression that Fluoride was essential to oral health.
fluorides are important if you have a high score of risk of cavities (bad brushing technique, lots of sugar in your diet, a past of cavities, hyposalivation). if you dont have any of these issues then you can be without fluorides but you will increase your risk of cavities cause fluorides biochemicaly help in the prevention of demineralizarion and help in the remineralization if you have active dental plaque
Fluoride is great for preventing tooth decay. He mentioned Xylitol, thats great too & it’s in some brands of gum. So if you like to chew gum, make sure it’s sugar free and contains xylitol.
then why would he willingly not choose to have a fluoride toothpaste if it means it helps in further cavity prevention?

Yo Brian.. you need to change your electric toothbrush for a one that works by vibration instead of the one you're using which rubs your teeth doing a mechanical movement.
The mechanical rubbing wears your enamel faster since it's harsher.

Tea tree oil crushes testosterone.
Also any kind of mint or menthol does the same. Stay away from it if you are a man.

Not all bacteria is bad. Your digestive tract microbiome starts in your mouth. You may want to save mouthwash for special occasions.

It depends on the kind of non fluoride toothpaste, many are terrible but I've found Dr bronners is a good one, a lot of non fluoride toothpaste just contains nothing at all that does anything for your teeth
I think it’s because he eats basically 0 sugar and drinks nothing acidic, so he can afford not needing the fluoride

Yes, and in conjunction with xylitol, remineralizes the teeth.
Why does he use fluoride-free toothpaste? Studies show it hardens enamel to supranatural levels. Or am I missing something?
It’s very good for teeth and has some degree of affect on bones but it calcifies and deteriorates your brain over time, not some crazy conspiracy theory just basic chemistry/biology
Call it conspiracy but it's 1. Not necessary and 2. unhealthy for other reasons like it calcifies your pineal gland and lowers intelligence
Because flouride is toxic to the human body and there is no actual scientifically proven benefit of it for your teeth.
Are you living under a rock, have you not seen the dstudies? Fluoride was found to dumb you down and Calcified the pineal Gland in your brain.
Studies show this… studies show that… lol fluoride isn’t that great for your overall health but the negligible amount one absorbs during brushing teeth shouldn’t be that much of an issue. It’s the fluoride in the water we should be worried about
• Waterpik
• Dr. Tung’s floss
• Fluoride-Free toothpaste
• Tongue scraper
• Xylitol mouthwash (for bad breath)
• Biannual cleaning at the dentist
• SomnoDent device/other mouth guard
• Avoid sugar, Careful w/ acidic liquids
• Check for a dry mouth condition
• Check pocket depth/attachment loss/plaque index/gum bleeding
I would also suggest coconut oil pulling, nearly every day. Swash a little coconut oil in your mouth for 10 minutes.
Happy healing! ✨
If you have soft enamel already don’t use a waterpik. It will create holes in your teeth!
Oil pulling destroys the good bacteria of the mouth. See Dr. Ellie Phillips.
A tongue brush is better than a tongue scraper tbh. Better if you have oral thrush or a bacterial overgrowth too
Bryan, I do the same protocol…but I floss first then water pick. I noticed my health improved when I flossed first because it breaks everything up then the water pick cleans up the rest.
I recently drank Coke Zero by the liter for almost two weeks straight during vacation (I usually never do) and started to get tooth pain. There is a reason why you can use Coke to clean up pipes 😂
Always rinse with water after drinking a fizzy drink, its mild acid, Darwin _:)

And it needs me alive to guide as many ppl as possible to Heaven since only "I know de whey"

I suffered from massive, quick plaque buildup, which would then turn into tartar almost immediately. It was so bad, I had to get a professional dental cleaning 3 to 4 times a year. Here is what I did to stop this:
Instead of a classic dental cleaning, I went to a guided biofilm therapy, more precise, less damage to the teeth, better result.

@LisaCulton Hi! a few questions. How do you promote a healthy biofilm? Do you agree on flossing before brushing? Thanks
@@LisaCultonbecause you get your oral microbiote when you are born from environement and people around. you gave yours to your son

Bryan (and to everyone else interested in improving your oral health), I highly recommend reading *Cure Tooth Decay: Heal and Prevent Cavities with Nutrition* by Ramiel Nagel. It's a great book about oral health. (I know you already have your own diet, but you may learn some things.) It goes beyond curing and preventing cavities with nutrition, and talks about teeth brushing (use the blotting method), jaw alignment, and so much more.
What I like about this book is that it's very honest and tells you all its sources.
Ok dude

Thanks so much *MR OBALAR* on UA-cam for curing me from Herpes, keep saving lives.❤.
As a dentist, there's only one thing I don't understand: why do you use fluoride-free toothpaste? Fluoride reduces demineralization of enamel, promotes the remineralization of enamel, and inhibits bacterial metabolism.
Because its toxic for your body. Has literally been shown to lower IQ.
1. Dental Fluorosis:
This is the most evident risk associated with excessive fluoride intake during the early years of tooth development. Fluorosis can cause varying degrees of tooth discoloration and surface irregularities, from mild white spots to severe staining and pitting. The condition is cosmetic but indicates overexposure to fluoride.
2. Skeletal Fluorosis:
Long-term exposure to high levels of fluoride can lead to skeletal fluorosis, a bone disease that involves the accumulation of fluoride in the bones, making them extremely hard yet more brittle over time. This condition can lead to pain, damage to bones and joints, and increased risk of fractures.
3. Thyroid Function:
There is some evidence to suggest that excessive fluoride exposure might be linked to impaired thyroid function. High levels of fluoride might interfere with thyroid hormones, which are critical for regulating metabolism. Studies suggest that populations consuming higher amounts of fluoride can have an increased risk of hypothyroidism, characterized by low levels of thyroid hormone.
4. Neurological Development Issues:
Some studies have suggested a potential link between high fluoride exposure and neurodevelopmental issues. Research, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses, indicates that high fluoride exposure might be associated with lower IQ scores in children. These studies often reference regions with naturally high fluoride levels in water, raising concerns about less controlled fluoride exposures.
5. Endocrine Disruption:
Fluoride is also suspected of affecting other endocrine organs besides the thyroid, including the pineal gland, which regulates melatonin and sleep patterns. Some research suggests that fluoride could accumulate in the pineal gland, potentially affecting its function.

I put the xylitol mouthwash in my Water Pik!

Better to just use xylitol and water
My observation:
Brushing at night before bed and after lunch is better than brushing in the morning and at night. As per logic is:
"Avoid morning brushing"
Because there zero benefits That the point
My coworkers unanimously object the part about skipping morning brushing. 😄
lol how you gonna brush at lunch time , public toilet ?
Bryan you have a talent to keep me watching and to learn a lot ! Thank you ☺️
I think this video is really concerning.
Same goes for fluoride toothpaste .
that sensodyne toothpaste has fluoride in it...
Now the nuances between types of toothbrushes types of floss and rinses and when and how many times to floss or brush would be a great future video. I find that trying new flosses and oral health items really helps me re-engage my interest in my oral care routine.
Thank you! Looking good Bryan!

I think such questions are hard to answer regarding our body's complexity, and the best thing is to consume mostly meat to fight the cause of bad oral health and not the symptoms.
what about tea tree oil mouthwash, n teeth whitening?
highly recommend: 1) floss 2) oil pull with coconut oil 3) brush 4) tongue scrape 🦷
Oil pulling causes yeast infections in my mouth. It kills off the good bacteria as well, giving yeast an advantage
@@janco333 coconut oil kills the yeast that cause yeast infection
@@janco333I've heard that if you switch the coconut oil with xylitol that will keep the good bacteria.
Also, vit D, boron, k2 are nutrients that will improve the health of teeth in the long run.
brands and examples please?
But his teeth don’t seem very nice. Hope that he is okay now.
Eric Berg says that sugar competes with vitamin C in our body, so basically if you eat too much sugar, you cause scurvy.
It's not the sugar, is the chronic acidic environment in your mouth causing the ulcers. See Dr. Ellie Phillips for help.
Why would you avoid fluoride?
It's an industrial waste product and neurotoxin.
@marcolino708 You're talking about stannous fluoride, which is bad. Must be sodium fluoride in a .05 solution. Even our bodies make fluoride. See Dr. Ellie Phillips..

i used to grind my teeth a lot too but my solution was being mindful of where i put my tonghe like if its touching the top of your mouth its veery likely you will vacuum your mouth cavity resulting in grinding your teeth however if you keep it at the bottom... your jaw muscles wont contract enough to grind your teeth
i cant floss because my teeth are too close together.. well maybe i could but its bloody annoying. all problems i got with my teeth is cause of fizzy drinks + sugary desserts i used to drink and eat a lot of those daily while not using mouthwash or high pH water to wash it away.. i only get cavities on the front top of my teeth which is the worst, thats cause acid gets stuck to my gums.. but no problems with my gums thats down to genetics been told that by my dentist. solved the tongue issues and bad breath chewing mastix gum, it was literally solved in a flash
Thanks so much *MR OBALAR* on UA-cam for curing me from Herpes, keep saving lives.❤.
