Helicopters has its own roles.
Helicopters are very good while using inside one's territory and near border.
Using helicopter inside enemy areas = vulnerable. No matter what heli it is. That's why we have fighterjets.
Helicopters = slow, noisy, flies ay low altitude.

US offered India nuclear technology in 1960s before Chinese attack but our beloved Chacha Nehru didn't bother to accept. The offer was given various times. Later, US even Offered UNSC permanent membership to us twice but again our beloved Chacha nehru didn't accept this and India rather leaned towards the USSR. And, US couldn't see that happening and they got anti-India. And they started nurturing pakistan as a counter of India and Used pakistan against the USSR in Afghanistan.

in kargil war, Pakistan brought down two of Indian warplanes with its manpad missiles (probably Anza) when they crossed Pakistani borders. So, helicopters r relatively very easy to bring down.
We must focus on developing new generation of weapons like drones, satellite, guided ammo and train our soldiers in using them extensively.

@@AlphaDefenseHindi that hasn't made any difference. Good equipment is one component but the more crucial component is battlefield tactics. The Russians have pretty much (surprisingly) failed at that.
@@AlphaDefenseHindi not mi 28 but kamov's, hostomel airport was won by 3 helicopters, ka 52's, mi 24's and then your usual mil mi 8's, you can notice how much late the mi 28's joined the conflict. It's the kamovs and mi 24's that led the charge and were extensively used in combat patrols and escort missions. Aur ye April fool wala joke nahi hai.

You analysis proved that use of helecopter is now becoming limited in war ..Even Apache choppers can be shoot down as proved in Gulf war. Secondly , I didn't really like the Russian war strategy, where suppression of enemy Air- defence system was not done first before sending the choppers and fighters inside Ukraine.Also...sending toothless soldiers in 64 miles long convoy( visible to enemy and vunarable to enemy fire) by Russia in a modern battlefield was very disappointing.
What is the replacement you are suggesting for Helos ?

What SEAD can you do against enemy firing MANPADS from civilian buildings? Will have to take down the whole goddamned city to get rid of them Which is what Russia is doing/was forced to do And this requires artillery on ground too apart from aerial bombing

Russia Ukraine war is prime example.
What i found missing in this war are
1) use of electronic counter measure systems by Russia. If u remember on first day of Gulf war USA n Nato forces used such strong jammers in Iraq that even Soviet radars got jammed. This could have saved many losses of aircrafts.
2) There is hardly any night attack! Mostly we see day war , this shows most Russian helecopters are not capable for night mode.
3) Use of Sattilite navigation and AWACS systems missing .
4) Coordination of C3.command, communication, control, is very poor.
I just wonder why Russia a super power is fighting a second world war style war!

India suffered low flying MI 17 (or 24) helicopter crashes which are heavy and unfit for high altitude combat due to the Pakistani stingers in Kargil. The output is highly manuarable LCH which can fly at high altitude in any weather conditions not that easily visible for stinger missiles. But now Drones (Artificial Intelligence) are the game changers.

The Apache 64E ' longbow' can hover at a distance and launch or direct drones into a high threat zone where they can be used to neutralize MANPADS. Also the Apache can be in touch with other Apaches and the ground via radio modems . This enables them to operate as a network . Combat history has shown that any networked system whether of soldiers on the ground , tanks or helicopters is much more effective than the same elements working alone. We need more Apaches for our IAF and the Army aviation corps. That is why this obsession with ' atmanirbhar' Bharat upsets me. It is a good concept but it cannot be pushed down the throat of the military.
No they cannot survive. It showed in Kargil war where we lost jets and helicopters and had to resort to bombing from high altitude beyond the reach of stinger missiles..

It is not about Russian Helicopters, if a battle happens in between two powerful military, losses will happen. Ukraine is a powerful military in Europe, so it will happen. Also, Russia haven't used their advanced weapons yet, maybe in fear of those falling in NATO's hand. US lost their most advanced stealth F 114 during bombing run in Yoguslavia, who was using very old air defence at the time.
About that F-117 shotdown. Serbs could not even shoot down enough F-16s to make a difference. Shooting down one F-117 does not mean much. F-117 flew 100s of sorties unscathed. You can always get lucky shots and that does not mean you have a war winning technology. Even one of two F-35s will be shot down in a war, but the country that owns F-35s will win the war in the end.
Russia doesnot have any advance weapons in their arsenal. The only advance weapons they have is hypersonic missile and they used it already but you can't win a war with 5 or 6 high tech weapons. We can now see how Russian handed their ass to Ukraine. By the way Ukraine is not a strong military in europe
@@totoitekelcha7628 Have you followed Yamen War ? Huge consignments of US wepons like Abhram Tanks are lost to Yamenies Rebels. Houties don't long range air defense for which Saudis are getting away with high altitude bombing, but if they use helicoptor those will be taken out using Igla Manpads. 90% of English News are heavily invested by US arms company. They will never show failure of there own equipments.

I know you try to be positive here but the main thing is if apache detects threats it cant relay that info to other russian helicopters effectively and the bulk of air operations will be done by Hinds which can be targeted easily.

Btw kamov can do the tracking part also, because it has a bigger radar in nose. Under m standard upgrade it will be equipped with an Aesa radar.
As far as I know, Singer is smart enough to distinguish between US assets and enemy assets. US stingers will not kill US Apaches. I do not know how this will work for Pakistani stingers and Indian Apaches.
It all depend on technology, training and luck.

Still modern manpads not only uses infrared seeker they use 3 types of seekers to lock on target same manpad drdo developing and how u counter manpad like star streak which uses laser to lock on
Star streak can be countered by smoke secondly do you think in the battlefield of india which is 6000m above the visibility gets lower .
But anyways it is the best short-range airdefence.
@@akshivsaxena2005 First of all smoke is out of the question when it comes to air craft (fixed or rotary) as the craft is moving, secondly as you go higher up, visibility improves due to lack of humidity and dust particles (not the other way round)

Rudra is NOT an attack helicopter. It is merely an armed helicopter. It CANNOT fulfill the tactical objectives that a dedicated attack helicopter could accomplish.

Man portable systems like Stinger do not turn on there Radars so soon they do it only when the target is within the striking range....
