As a certified cybersecurity analyst, a “leak” often occurs by mistake from an internal employee or more often than not occurs when a breach within a network system occurs: hence why leaks are never official since they’re usually done via mistake or via a data/network breach. So no, “officially leaked” is still incorrect because SONY themselves did not put this out themselves, otherwise that’d be an official announcement.

So far it seems like most of the PS5 generation is just a bunch of PS4 games that run at 60fps with fast load times.
That's literally what it is for 99% of games. It's just a PS4 Pro 2.
Honestly if you take a PS4 game and put it up next to a PS5 game - even a cross-gen, AAA title like God of War Ragnarok (which was developed on PS5 first), the differences are shockingly small. I recall a bigger difference in graphical output when comparing PS2, Gamecube, and OG Xbox games (and they were in the same 'console generation').
It seems from here on out, the only upgrades we're getting with new consoles is better performance and higher resolutions (and not necessarily in that order).

@@N.i.E.M.O Once graphics have become photorealistic, what else is left? We're down to minor little details now. Even resolution is probably close to reaching it's limits, as we are probably reaching the limits of what the human eye can perceive. We still have a ways to go, but with how crazy fast we're advancing these days, I highly doubt we have more then around 15 or 20 years before we hit a wall. At that point, all we'll have left is better performance, but even that will eventually hit a wall. In order to move forward from there, video games will eventually have to move beyond the TV screen. Of course, I have no idea what that would be, but perhaps I'd be something similar to Star Trek's holodeck.
Yup, and I skipped the ps4 and played through those games I missed on my ps5. I got the series X too, I just don’t see either as being worth the money. Thought GOW was the most impressive visual game I’ve seen and then I realized that it’s a ps4 title lol. Not enough games pushing the specs they bragged about, putting out another console is just arrogance.
After learning some pc lingo I now know that both the Xbox and PlayStation are unlikely to produce a console that is comparable to high end PCs, I personally will never buy a pro of either console.

I just don't see much value in something like this for me since it seems like higher frame rates won't be supported at 1440p or 4k. Last gen it made sense because of the anemic Jaguar processors. I'd rather see Sony put the money and resources towards games

I remember reading about some rumors that Sony wasn't happy about how good Red Dead Redemption 2 looked on the Xbox One X compared to the PS4 Pro. I could see them trying to launch this before GTA 6.

What's the point? Most modern games are still playable on a base PS4. What could possibly use the extra specs of something more powerful than a base PS5? It's not like this is a PC that could use these extra specs for running emulators.

Nah man, the reason for which SS sold more than SX were very specific, one being the plandemic(where people were forced to stay in homes with little money) and the second one was the silicon and material shortages. Now, these reasons are not valid for the most part. Also, there was a big MS push for SS since it was cheaper to manufacture AND it also allowed MS to further their digital only agenda. This is the reason for which MS kept trumpeted their SS success. Now that things have changed they wont say a word for SX, simply because it has a disc drive and they dont want it, they want only digital.
Give people the possibility to choose freely and unrestrained and they'll choose SX in most cases.
I had TWO SS's, I sold both of them and got an SX.
I get the feeling that most of the people buying a PS5 Pro are going to be the ones like me who don't have a PS5 yet and decided to wait for the Pro.

@Fafnir2000 Mostly, I just haven't had the money. Besides, the only Xbox I've had any interest in was the 360. Before and since it hasn't had any exclusives I'm into, unlike Sony and Nintendo.
@@Razmoudah I was a psn guy too from ps3 to ps4 even ps4 pro but 2018, the year major games released like rdr2, gow4 and Spiderman. I pre-ordered all these and only played rdr2. For whole year I never touched any other games only to realise xbox one x was the superior way to play it. Now the only game I care about is gta6 and Xbox sx is powerful than a ps5 so that was the reason I gone xbox this time. But ps5 pro coming is a very good news for me I mean I know it's coming.

I have my OG PS5 from Launch, then bought a second one this last Xmas that came with Spider-Man 2. Going to pass on the pro. I’ll probably get that Switch Pro when that comes. Never bought the switch. Still have the Wii U hooked up.

One thing that still baffles me is how it was acceptable to have "up to 8k" on the original PS5 box, when what they meant was you can view a static 8k picture, not play a game in 8k. Now they're releasing a new upgrade that also says "up to 8k support." All I want is fun games, enough of all the spec sheets and trying to one up each other on TFLOPS, when in practicality it really has done nothing for the consumers beyond "flop" measuring. :)

33 teraflops is about equivalent to an rtx 4070 super, a 550 - 600$ card. the pro is going to be about 750 -800$ if that is true.

To be honest I agree with you Rich I think we are hitting the peak of graphic and game play I was amazed how beautiful Final Fantasy 16 looked and Now I am playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and it is a beautiful game I would prefer that they work on better fps
Considering that the raw discernible graphical jump from PS4 to PS5 is practically nothing (aside from better resolution and framerates), it's pretty clear that the law of 'diminishing returns' is very real. I mean, we had to hit this point eventually.
Not to say improvements can't still be made - until we hit spot-on photo-realism - but even then, even if the processing power and rendering techniques are available, it will be up to the skill and resources of the developers to actually take advantage of it. Though I do see AI-created assets becoming a big thing, and more universally accepted, in the future.

Sony needs to do these things:
Guarantee ownership of games - Right now you don't own your games and WILL lose access to them in a few years - both physical and digital
Unlock frame rates because older games are unplayable in 30fps
Free up online play it's ridiculus to pay to play online

Don't worry man. PS6 will play those PS4 looking games at 8K and PS6 Pro at 8K 60 BUT PS7 will be so wild that it will actually have better graphics than PS4.
The only reason I'd be interested in it is if it has a 2tb m.2 in and the price is in line with that upgrade. Or just a little less. Like 600 I say ok. 700 is no deal for me. I'd just buy stuff released on my newly built PC. And buy a base PS5 and upgrade m.2 myself if they go crazy with pricing.
I am really not excited for any games anymore. I think I have grown out of being excited for games. It’s just commanding pixels on a screen. I am not sure if my brain is just super fried from Chemo and Radiation therapy or what but I am not excited not like when I was a kid.
Nothing will ever be as exciting as when you were a kid because you were a kid and experiencing everything bigger and for the first time. Of course everything seem more magical when we are kids.
You just need to relax and stop trying to chase after that childhood excitement but just enjoy life as it is. If you are not feeling like playing games right now just do something else.
For a big time i didn't play much or had appetite for games yet now despite being a middle age old dude am really excited about playing Stellar Blade.
Will it be like when i was a teen playing on my PS1? No it won't, it probably will never be but i think i am gonna have a really good fun. Every now and then a game excites me and i go back to just enjoying some gaming in life.

What is the purpose of investing in new hardware when developers for this generation must ensure their games are compatible with handheld devices? Essentially, the upgrades primarily offer improved textures and resolution and possable improved fps, but little else.
I can't say i care.. because what is more tech power going to bring when the AAA industry is just kinda falling apart?
Think about that... what is all this power going to do for games not being made?
If you take a chart and follow how many games are released every month then is more than anyone could ever buy or play.
Sure many of them aren't AAA as you say but plenty of AA and indie games have nice looking graphics now our days that look amazing in 4K 60 or even 120fps since they are not so demanding.
On top every month you get at least a few AAA game releases.
This guy goes "OMG Sony said there will be nothing" but is not a big deal at all if Sony studios themselves don't throw out a title in a year as long as you get things to play.
No games for PlayStation and nothing to play apparently but everyone is having a blast playing Helldrivers 2, Foamstars is actually fun, Final Fantasy Rebirth is quite the buzz everywhere right now, Rise of the Ronin is just releasing along with Dragons Dogma 2 and massive amount of people are hyped for Stellar Blade coming next month and checking for the disappearing demo.
Don't know about you but i don't even have the time to enjoy playing all those this next 2 months let alone any cool indie or AA game that might appear on top, not to mention anything on my backlock.
Nothing to play apparently but i don't even have the time to fully enjoy that "nothing".

My big question was the price as well. My next big question is will Sony be selling upgrades for The Last of Us Part 1 and 2 for the PS5 Pro? No, we know they will, the question is also, for how much?
I have not played alot of current gen only games. I dont reallt see the point of upgrading.
I started playing star wars jedi survivor on my series x. I feel like we are juat at the begining of the generation. I think the only other current gen only games ive played were starfield and need for speed unbound.
I might as well just keep my console until theres no longer new games being made for it.
I am on the fence on this. Because i don't feel like i really need the Pro to play my games especially since i play on a 1080p screen instead of a 4K one but on the other hand i like PlayStation VR and i invest in it and this might make VR even better and more clear etc so it might be worth it for that.

PS5 in theory has the power to do 8k but it never will I don’t even know why it says 8K on the box. In performance mode the console can do 120fps in 1080p and 4k 60fps or 30fps depending on the game. In fidelity mode you can do 1080p 60fps or 4k 30fps and Ray Tracing. That’s what the PS5 can do at the moment.
@@ryans413 8K is for media and indie games... but PS5 output is capped at 4K for whatever reason...maybe some day they will release a firmware for 8K output 🤷♂

4K 60 should be a baseline norm, come PS5 Pro. I'm not sure why Sony is struggling to meet that with the Pro. They just need something equivalent to the 7800 XT or 7900 XT. Those GPUs can do it without scaling.
So the PS5 Pro will give us the performance that Sony promised with the original PS5....got it. I'll stick with my gaming PC.

i have gaming pc as well (i5 12400 rtx3060 and 32gb of ram) but as soon as ps5 pro has an official relase date i will sell it and get the ps5 pro just for gta6 tbh
they revise down the sales figures of the 5.
they delay games until next year.

and then they pump millions into a pro model and think its going to fly off the shelves , if a lot of ppl havnt jumped from the 4 to the 5 by now a pro version wont make that much difference.
and then the ps6 will come out so pro owners have another huge bill to upgrade and lets be honest here most if not all ppl wont be able to see the difference from the base 5 to the new 6 let alone from the pro to the 6 as its all now about the tech side.
then the 6 will be held back by the pro version as ppl have other things to spend money on rather than a plastic box , so while sony do a bridging system the ppl that did buy the pro will be less likely to rush out in huge numbers for a new system as we have seen with the ps4 / ps4 pro and 5 , and then sony will start to revise sales down after a few years and this will wipe billions off the company value.
and before you all start with ill buy the 5 pro and then the 6 when that comes out and then the 6 pro , its you that are fuelling this whole pro idea and when the 6 comes out you might find things in your life have changed.

Never bought a pro version, and see no reason now. The lack of solid games is kinda getting old. They need to up the triple AAAs and get back to their roots.
Considering Returnal is still the only 1st party Sony game I gave a crap about, I think I can safely pass.
there really wasnt much difference between the ps4 and the ps4 pro - ultimatley, developers always catered to the lower spec machine to maximise sales

The Xbox One X had a much beefier GPU than the PS4 Pro, and even then you only got higher resolutions. Frame rates all but stayed the same, and we know developers won't be prioritizing the hardware with the smallest install size.
While people were whining the Series S was "holding games back," developers were still releasing ports on base XB1 & PS4, including Sony themselves. And when Switch 2 releases, the bottom tier target will be even lower, so don't expect devs to target PS5 Pro as a priority.
Nice spec jump, but minimal CPU increase. Even in the PC world many games are bottlenecked by the CPU. Either way its a nice jump

Playing Bloodborne on Ps5 pro and it's still 30 fps.
The PS5 already gave me what I wanted. Basically a PS4 with a modern CPU inside. Thank you and goodbye Sony, I don't need the PS5 Pro. Graphics might advance, but game mechanics and game depth haven't budged an inch in 20 years.
This one will sit on the shelf. Specs won't drive sales as games can't even run at >60 fps with 4k now! Sony also announced zero new AAA from any of their studios until 2025. Xbox Dame Pass is set to dominate now. Will it happen? Time will tell. I bought an Xbox X to be safe.
