- We've know for a few weeks now that all third party developers were recently briefed on PlayStation 5 Pro specs. There's been a number of leaks regarding its CPU, GPU, Memory, ray tracing hardware, and machine learning AI resolution enhancements. And now Sony has more or less confirmed that these leaks are (or at least were) legitimate. So let's talk about what Sony did, and also touch on a few new details regarding the planned hardware. We'll also cover everything we've learned up to this point. Which is a lot actually! And if you stick around, we might also talk about the best way to cook bacon without getting grease everyone. Nah I think leaks pushed quality of companies announcing a new game or device , so they prepare for a possible leak so they put a lot of effort keeping a leak in mind

As long as they let me turn RT off and set the Resolution to 1440p they can do whatever they want. If I can't do those two things i doubt i'd buy this pro model.
I'd say that is up to the game devs and has nothing to do with the console. See "Dragon's Dogma 2" where at first RT could not be disabled, but the option has been added now.

Why would you buy a higher spec console then run it at lower graphical specs? Surely the the ideal is to have ray tracing on, run at 3840 x 2160 and have a bare minimum of 60fps.

Lot of assumptions here from people who basically like to write things off before they have even come out. I've avoided PC gaming because I'm not well-versed in the technical jargon associated with it. When I buy a game, I simply want to play it without the hassle of dealing with complex specifications and inflated prices of PC components. Consoles have been my go-to choice because they offer a straightforward buying and playing experience, allowing me to relax in the living room and enjoy games on a large screen.
However, after watching this video, I realized how little I know about all the technical terms like FFT, IFFT, Tflops, shaders, running speed, RAM speed, etc. As a consumer who prioritizes ease of use, these terms have never held much meaning for me. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing how these technicalities translate into real-life performance tho

PC is no where near as hard to use as it was before, additionally the extra cost used on the system makes up from the cheaper game costs and no subscriptions for online. I understand your point but if you ever are interested in a PC, steam big picture is a good thing to try.

Only thing I'm worried about is getting my pre order in before the scalpers, it will be a mad rush again most likely.
I want to trade my current PS5 in towards the Pro model at EB Games, hopefully they still do the pre order trade bonus thing like in the past, although from memory for the base PS5 they only took pre orders online 🤔

I'm really interested in PSSSR and how it would affect games going forward.
Depends on how ready Sony are to reveal this officially, I that assume that they would be ready to release it at least within two months after announcement like they did with PS4 PRO the announcement was September 8 2016 and PRO released in November 10 2016.
Except this isn't an announcement. Their "confirming" the console by taking down videos about the Pro and Variety making an article about them getting leaked specs. Sony hasn't announced anything

How about you read carefully, and maybe choose your wording a bit better bub.
Most people only got their hands on a PS5 after 2022, after the stock issues were resolved. It's kind of pointless to release a Pro version already, when only a handful of games have been truly "next-gen" so far (without a PS4 release).

I'm super interested in PSSR and what it brings to the table - will this be frame gen or an equivalent to DLSS 3 - either would be huge - I have a 4070 based laptop and these features make the card perform like a much higher spec'd card. I am guessing they have reverse engineered these features from Nvidia and put a Sony spin on it to make it different enough so they do not have problems down the road.
It’s AMD tech so I wouldn’t really get your hopes up. They’re at least five years behind Nvidia’s dlss 3.
A 4070 laptop vs a 4070 gaming pc are not the same

Hopefully AAA game devs drop cross gen ports before the PS5 Pro comes out. What's the point in getting a mid gen upgrade console if they're still being held back by more than a decade old hardware
Sony has been stated Ragnorock was the last Cross gen exclusive.
Even cross gen games aren't reaching the limits of low-mid range TVs (4K60fps), they are normally 1440p60fps, they can still aim for native 4K60fps for those games.
That's not true. If the game is developed targeting the new hardware, they can just drop resolution and some setting for last gen hardware. If the cross gen games are not runing at 120fps, rest assure the console is not held back by the PS4. You need to be more realistic. The PRO will only provide a better resolution with a margical graphics upgrade if at all.

We already haven't been seeing very many cross-gen games. It's mostly smaller titles (Prince of Persia Lost Crown for ex) at this point.
A PS5 Pro with PS1-PS3 backwards compatibility and music CD playback would be a must buy.
Sometimes, these leaks are intentional so that they can observe our reactions online and get people like us hyped up. It's a genius marketing strategy.

1. There's only a 10% boost on the CPU which won't be utilized much
2. There's only a 45% boost on the GPU ( around 14.33 TFLOPS from 10.28 TFLOPS on base PS5) which when considering the 105% boost we got on the PS4 pro, is really small.
3. There is almost no AAA titles coming out to take advantage of this upgrade except maybe GTA 6
4. Don't expect GTA 6 to run at 60 fps except at 1080p

@joelnwadike3181 10% boost is fine. A massive CPU boost and you're at something closer to a PS6. A few games that only run at 30 isn't a problem with the hardware, the developers chose to use a 30fps target and use their budget elsewhere.

A machine with just slightly better graphics isn't worth it to me. Thr only thing that would make me buy a PS5 Pro instead of just waiting for PS6 would be if it had PS1-PS5 compatibility. Which it won't, because that would take effort.

Gaming today is nothing but a joke of remakes and remasters. TLOU2 "remaster" was the nail in the coffin for me with any hope for the industry anymore.

I wish that was possible as well, and I think PS2 could be done easily considering there is a PS2 emulator for PS4 for a few games on PSN. They could just port that emulator to PS5 and call it a day. PS1 would be slightly harder, since Sony hasn't made an emulator for PS1 for anything newer than PS3 (I think). PS3 is where the main issue lies. The PS3 is a very hard console to emulate, and I'd imagine Sony does not care to put the insane amount of effort needed to achieve this for not much return. Not many consumers will be using backwards compatibility most probably
@@hatsonchickens PS1 would be insanely easy for them to do. And I'd think the PS2, being as old as it is, should be as well. It's PS3 that's really causing all the trouble, but there were so many amazing games that really need boosting to 60 FPS, like Infamous.

If a hobbyist coding team can emulate PS3 on PC, then Sony can definitely do it officially with the PS5/Pro. They just don't want to.
They dont want to because it costs money, and with Xbox's BC there were only 5-6% of people who were using the feature. And that was made in a way that if you had the disc, you didnt even need to buy the game again. Drive would read the licence, and the console would download x86 port on the HDD.

Will we be able to pop out the expanded SSD memory from the PS5 and reinstall it in the PS5 pro? I was kind of assuming that I will be losing all of the game library on the expanded SSD moving it to the newer Console.

@@Lxx00Jxx00 yep , no man's sky for example just runs with less issues on psvr 2 with the ps5 , I've had so many things go wrong with that game on pc and thanks to the eye tracked foveated rendering it's pretty much on par with pcs that cost over £800-£1000
@@weplayvrgames and that's on the VR 2. You can go on other games -- dead space, RE 4, dragons dogma 2 etc -- that runs better on the PS5 even compared with today graphic cards from nvidia. Oh, also, no traversal stutter, something that is a daily occurance on common pc games. I think that there's no reason other than piracy to play on PC when compared to the PS5 or the XSX

I'd love to believe the GPU performance numbers, but hard to given the incremental downgrading of TFLOP expectation the closer the PS5 got to launch.
i bought my slim back in february. i was telling myself for years i'd wait for a pro model but after hearing how it won't be a worthy upgrade for awhile now, i don't feel any guilt about pulling the trigger a little early.

I'm in the process of buying and playing a tonne of ps3 games I missed out out when I was younger, mainly due to a lack of money, not enough time and the PS4 launching at an awkward time during my final school year not allowing me to play as much during that time. I foresee Mystic talking about and recommending games that will inevitably need to be added to my collection 😅
There are so many hidden gems on the ps3 that are locked on that system and the fact that Sony is leaving that system behind makes me really sad.

I’m staying with my ps5 og it’s still good enough and no issues yet because I took good care of it and I upgraded with an extra ssd m.2 2TB and add a cool case plates with an cooler fans by kiwi home to run more lower temperatures..at the most I’ll upgrade my 4k 60hz to a 4k 120hz tv with more features

Ya I only own a PS5 at this point for the physical discs. I like owning a few games on disc. When it comes to my digital library steam is the superior platform for digital plus I buy a lot of games on GOG so I have DRM free versions of my fav games

People are crazy. They think hardware is magical. But it's all just math. The PS4 was 150w, PS4 slim was 80w and the PS4 pro was 150w. Double the freacking power by going from 28nm to 16nm (almost half = almost double the performance per watt). The PS5 is 250w !!! It's already huge and the cooling system is already twice as big as PS4 and all wraped around the fan (best place to cool). The PS5 "slim" was barely an improvement going from 7nm to 6nm. There are 5nm and 4nm but the 4nm cost an arm to produce. Sony will either get a slight improvement with 5nm or make people pay 700$+ for 4nm. None of these will provide the PS4 pro's jump in performance unless they also increase the size of the chip and bump its power target. But the console will be even bigger or sound like a jet engine (PS3 ... cought).
The PS5 pro will not be amazing, there will be some serious compromises somewhere.

He’s milking this ps5 pro stuff to much, Really only people who are gonna buy this are people would are able to fork another 800$ to Sony for features the ps5 should of been able to do. Really there’s no point to buy the pro when no games really take advantage of the ps5 anyway. Some games are still using FSR 1 And still have performance issues and blurry graphics, I wonder why!
As someone whos has recently migrated to PC gaming. Raytacing is still a gimmick for now atleast. Does it make the game look better, for sure it does but unless you have an Nvidia 4090 or amd equivilent, its just not worth consoles making that fearure a focus. Granted i have an rx 7800 xt, which can handle raytracing but at lower settings not like Nvidias 4080/4090 (which im not willing to trade 1 kidney for). The native performance is great and fsr has been reliable so far although i prefer to run game natively when i can.
Slap that disc drive behind the plate in the style of the digital original, make it the size of the slim, and make the shape less obtrusive and you got a ps5 pro
Considering i only bought ps5 for psvr2 ill only do the same if it improves it. I still havent seen much that i couldnt do on my ps4 pro since ps5 released. There has been like maybe 5 games worth mentioning that are exclusive to ps5

Ray tracing should not be a priority on current consoles. They're too cheap to have the hardware to do it while maintaining 60fps and 4K or whatever high-ish resolution they're insisting on using. Maybe in a gen or two that will be possible, but not yet.
The MS feature that allowed older games to uncap their framerates/run at 60fps was super cool, and I wish Sony would do something like that
i heard somewhere that the ps5 pro would not be retro-compatible with ps4 games like the ps5 and slim version, does anyone know if that's true or fake news?, i have plans to buy a ps5 slim on june, but seeing that the ps5 pro could be here by the end of the year i would wait, but not if its not going to be compatible with ps4 games
Wouldn´t make sense. Of course PS4 Games will run as well. PS5 Pro will use the base from PS5, so there is no reason for that happen imo.
I miss the days and weeks leading up to the PS5 release. Everything that came out was so exciting. I was glued to every Playstation & gaming channel on UA-cam during those days.

Now that the pro is confirmed I need to wage. Should I keep my day 1 ps5 (beefed up cooling) or should I get a pro and sell the day 1 ps5?. I would consider keeping both if I could hack one but I don't think I'll be able to

I don't understand how pro models help these companies even from business stand point. Isn't the whole idea behind consoles is to sell the hardware at a loss to reduce entry barrier and then recovering or rather make money through game licensing and subscription fee?
When will PlayStation as a brand recover/make money if they keep introducing new hardware every 4 years? I mean shouldn't they be focusing more on game sales and releasing more games?

Where are you getting the 20% figure from? Does 45% raster or 2-3X RT boost with hardware-based upscaling sound like a 20% boost?
Remember last gen “pro” consoles getting pretty much zero support almost exclusively to first party titles. I’m not buying into it this time, developers have absolutely no reason to spend extra effort and money enhancing a game for a fraction of the player base just to up sell a console nobody is using.
So, what you're telling me is you don't want that extra 0.00001 millisecond faster load times and 1 FPS faster gameplay? I don't buy it... Surely you will want to play some PS2 remaster game that they will assuredly be coming out with on the newest and bestest 2025 PS5 Pro!!!

Nope. The clocks are actually slightly slower on the Pro. 45% raster uplift and 2-3x RT boost is what the leak says.

What we need is a PS5 version of Parasite Eve & Parasite Eve 2. I want to finish PE 2 and can't because I lost 1 of the 2 discs (and of course the 1 I didn't lose is always available on eBay... so I'm not the only one who loses that 1 of 2 discs)

If the ps5 was actually RDNA 2, it could do VRS from a hardware level, Variable Rate Shading.
What is the point? Unless theyre going to make games entirely specific to the pro to actually take advantage of the hw, what could it possibly do? Better fps on locked 60fps games lol? in my case i just need info on how many games physical games are there to play on a ps5 pro will ps5 pro have disc player how many of the games are just digital rather than disc are people wasting $ on a disc play console .. if ps6 + maby ps5 pro is just digital forward then any game buying needs to focus on digital libraries but thats not good as stories have shown a studio can enter peoples accounts and remove there games whenever in case of my old skyrim when i stopped having playstation plus some parts of the game stopped when internet access went away. but seems to me rather odd to pay every month to have playstation plus but w/e

I would too but the main problem is GTA 6. When that comes out next year and the pro is out too and it's not out for PC yet sadly I'll have no choice haha
Depends what happens with games going forward. If the base PS5 starts to struggle like PS4 did then I'd have no problem upgrading, but for now it feels pretty pointless.

I hope the PlayStation life span gets extended more because If the PlayStation 5 Pro last only 3 years then PlayStation 6 comes out I think It wouldn't be as great as previous PlayStation life spans. I think the 9th gen consoles should get more years before the 10th gen consoles come out. Overall I think the last 2 years the PlayStation 5 for me had big hitters. This year so far the PlayStation 5 is going strong. Cool video. ^_^
The lifespan of vanilla/pro PS5 console will last just as long as the previous generation. It may seem short, but look at the dates. Everything is moving along as scheduled.

@@supersmallchibiwolf872 Remember, I think, it was 1 or 2 years ago someone at Sony said that they have a bunch of games in the making , or pretty much ready. They are holding them back on purpose, and waiting for the right time to release them to maximize profits. I think the games were for the PS4, then they were upgraded to the PS5; ex: Stellar Blade.

im in the process of replaying all my games on ps3 and ps4, getting all platinums or atleast as close i can possibly get to 100%. Before diving into a new console. Might skip the whole ps5 era, got alot to do on the two previous generations.

Another thing to think about if looking to play PS5 games on PC in the future is that if you want to play those games at PS5 pro levels fidelity, 12GB cards like the 4070,4060 & their super/ti variants 12Gb and less will have issues running the those games as I’m sure PS5 pro games will be hitting those 13GB VRAM resources consistently. Looks like I’ll be getting a 4080 or 4090 but will

3080 still wipes the floor with PS5 and likely PS5 Pro with only 10gb of vram. It’s not even close.
@@TomCamies I highly doubt it. The PS5 pro GPU will be equivalent to a 7800XT and that wipes the floor of a 3080 10gb, 12g variant easy
@@Patrick-tw7nr buddy I have both the 3080 10gb variant and the PS5 which is why I mentioned it and I can assure you the PS5 gets no where close to it in performance. What you have to remember is the memory bus and bandwidth is far higher with gddr6x vram on the 3080. Also if the pro is equivalent to the 7800XT then the 3080 is faster than that card in most games correct?
I have always said, since right before the release of the original ps5, I am going to wait till 2 years after the release of the PS5 pro before I buy one. Let all the scalpers and resellers die away and let all the bugs get worked out. Plus give it time for a good collection of great games utilizing the hardware and software to come out. This way I don't stress myself out unnecessarily.

Am I the only one that gets turned off by the whole “detachable disc drive” ordeal? I understand it would have some benefits such as if the disc drive messed up you could just buy another. But I’m a physical collector/gamer, I like my physical media. Not only does the current slim ps5 not look as good but that detectable drive just throws me off. The fact it needs an internet connect when first connected. I miss the old days of gaming, you didn’t need internet. Throw a game in and play. I have been wanting a 2nd ps5 but don’t care for the slim so I thought I’d wait for a pro model but knowing it will have a detachable disc drive. Idk now.
The CPU only getting a 10% boost feels pretty underwhelming. They could have launched base PS5 with that extra performance and then delivered a bigger leap with the Pro. To make 60 frames a target for almost every game.
They couldn't make it much faster for numerous reasons... mainly to keep clock in check for games being made for PS5... what people don't understand is that most tech is involved in the graphics end... simply "features" added that can be turned on or enabled in these enhanced games for more graphical fidelity.
It’s up to the developers for how they leverage the power of a machine. Developers favor graphics and so have fans these past few generations.
Or they just wait and skip the pro nonsense.. In 2 years the PS6 comes out.
@@scupkingPS6 isn't coming until 2027/8 according to the leaked documents, so everyone on base PS5 should cope. The Pro is great for newcomers.
