  • In this video we will show you what you need to do to laser engrave a powder coated yeti rambler with an 80w co2 laser.
This process works for any stainless steel, powder coated item - a very similar process is used for flasks, coffee mugs, etc.
In this video we are using our Red/Black 80W Co2 Laser Engraver with an upgraded 80w Reci laser tube, upgraded air assist, upgraded lens, and modified CW-3000 water chiller for maximum flow and integrated alarm output.

Nice video! Maybe I missed it in the video, I went back but no avail. What dpi or step over amount did you use? I ruined a 29.00 yeti lol

I noticed you have the CW-3000 water chiller. When you turn on your chiller, I assume your temperature starts at 25C, right? If you are doing a long engraving, what temperature does your chiller normally reach? I have found my chiller will increase to around 29C-30C with longer engravings. Do you ever place ice in your chiller?

Hi Donald, our chiller usually starts at around 18-19 since that’s the ambient temperature in our home. On large projects, we have seen the temperature rise to 23 (on a hot day), and sometimes we will add ice when this happens.
If your temperature is standard between 25 and 30, you may want to upgrade to the CW-5000 which has a refrigeration mechanism to lower the temperature. The CW-3000 is more of a passive cooling system using heat-syncs to dissipate the heat.

So do you know if you could powder coat another color on and laser it off so it's two tone

I do not powder coat anything. But in my opinion, It would be highly unlikely.

How do you account for the taper of the tumbler? I laser etched one recently and the image towards the bottom of the mug wasn’t as well etched as it was towards the top of the mug.

Hello, there are two things that I do. I raise my bed up a bit to account for the spacing or if I’m not comfortable with the design, I go back to the customer and recommend a different design/layout.
