  • In this video we show you how we design and engrave a 24" wide Cherry Live-Edge Cabin Sign.
We do many of these signs through the year, they take approximately 45 - 100 minutes to complete, but these cabin signs bring in some high quality business.
The raw live-edge wood seen in these videos is from a local specialty wood supplier. All of their wood is 1" thick, and we buy 6' lengths at a time, and cut them to size once orders start coming in.
If you are sourcing this wood locally, make sure the wood is nicely sanded to get this premium look.
We also engrave on Walnut, which is usually a shorter board, and slightly more expensive for the saw material.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Great video! I'm NEW NEW to the laser "industry" and I'm trying to find all the resources I can. Haven't even gotten my laser yet. It's headed this way. Anyway, nice job! You really should make more videos. Could use all the help I can get. Cheers!!!

It's a good practice to ck your laser heights at different locations on the wood in case it is not perfectly flat.

I notice that your laser is a different height off the material surface than it was in your other videos. How did you determine what measurement to use?

When are you going to show us some of what you do with that fiber marking laser? Thank you

Another great video, I have the same 80 watt Red & Black laser, have you engraved and cut thin Acrylic plastic with your machine? if you have, it would be a good opportunity to make a video..... Thanks

Young lady, get yourself a couple Vinyl application squeegees . From a sign supply. Then you can smooth down your masking as you apply it. Unless i missed it, I watched your video to see how long it took to burn the sign.

    Just wondering.
How come you're not running at full power and double the speed?
Wouldn't that give the roughly the same result?
    Best regards

It’s recommended you never run a laser at 100% because it will greatly reduce the life of the laser tube. I personally try to cap mine at 80% power
But even if we are talking double power but still less than 100%, different power and speed give different results. Sometimes it’s a clean cut, and sometimes it’s less char.
I always cut a testing grid on each material to find the optimal settings for ongoing cuts.

@@kendallcreations6737 Thanks for the Quick response and great explanation 😁.
And great video, neat trick with the masking tape.
Been strugling with the smoke trails on My diode. Will give the masking tape a shot.

Have you tried using something like gorilla tape or shipping tape to pick up the tiny pieces of masking tape rather than the Cricut tool? Roll the tape backward abound your hand, like a make-shift lint roller.

Do you know how many mA your pulling while engraving at those percentages? I have a 60watt and getting ready to engrave on cherry wood for the first time.

      I have a K40 with a 50w tube in it (I installed it). I cut at 50% and I am pulling 16mA.

Really should use a mask when spraying paints 😷

    Two things:
The Cricut tool you were using is a weeding tool.
What pressure air are you using when doing your engravings? And is this the same pressure you use when cutting?
    Thanks

    Why the masking tape?

    • @kendallcreations6737
      @kendallcreations6737  2 роки тому +1

Hello, I use masking tape so I don’t need to sand the soot off after engraving. I also fear that if I sand it, I might ruin the engraving portion and I won’t be happy with my piece. I also find it a time saver.
