I've so enjoyed watching this. We just remodeled our home and I thought I did well picking out all the bits and bobs, i.e.., sinks, knobs, light fixtures, towel racks, faucets, etc., etc. I only wish I could have shopped around like you did. I've always been crafty and would have loved to have made stuff, but I'm disabled now and just can't do the things I used to do. I had much vicarious satisfaction watching this. A huge anglophile in California!
What fun you must have had. I am so sorry you can no longer do what you used to be able to. 4 years ago due to medical misadventure I lost the nerves in my feet.and my hands are only 50% you can’t sue in this country ! I used to make curtains , do the antique shops, knit etc; gardening I adored. Isn’t it frustrating !.. aren’t we lucky to have Kirsty to watch. She is so uplifting. ❤️ to you.
Justice for dark furniture! Darker pieces can be styled to look chic.
Beautiful rooms, love the patchwork quilt, and love the pink room. Not a fan of the sinks in the bedrooms, find them a bit creepy for some reason, and would much prefer a couch and seating area than a bath.
agree
I discovered this series during the holidays & what a present! Unfortunately I live in a small NYC apt. and my roommate doesn't care for decor.😞 However the textiles in this series have given loads of inspiration.😃 I'm going to use my sewing machine & make some wonderful colorful bed linens. Thank you Kristi. 😁🏡💓
oh, I am loving these videos. I went to the start and am binge watching right to the end. You have such great style
I love how she visits local artisans and learns how they do their craft and tries to make something for her house with it.
The only thing I don't like here is the bath in the bedroom. Not for me!
i have never seen a bathroom in a bedroom with out a wall and door around it but hey im Canadian lol i dont get out much
I make quilts out of the good parts of damaged linens I get for cheap or free. I wish I could show one to Kirstie, I think she'd love it.
Fun fact: The Norwegian word for "textiles" is "stoff", which also means "drugs".
Kirstie you are a girl after my own heart! You made me laugh so much when you got to the tablecloth section! I have finally met my match! I absolutely love your chanel. I have been living abroad the last 15 years and cant wait to be back in UK to go to these types of shops again! I can't wait!! Thanks for being you and giving me back a joy de vivre🙂😘
This so reminds me of redoing my house after a housefire smoked up the interior really bad and the interior was stripped down to the studs. I collected old light fixtures, ripped out a monstrously oversized 1970s fireplace and replaced it with a more diminutive corner gas fireplace with an antique quarter sawn oak mantle I found at an architectural salvage source for $10. I moved the furnace and bedroom doors, making the bathroom functional after having been halved when the furnace was installed on the main floor instead of the crawl space. I moved the kitchen door so I could have more kitchen cabinets as the old configuration only allowed for a bank of drawers, the sink, and a corner unit. I bought some new pieces of vintage furniture to go with my antique and shabby chic style, bought used curtains and carpets, and turned a few vintage linens into curtains. I cleaned much of the possessions myself, making room in the budget for a claw foot tub, I picked up a floor model pedestal sink at the architectural salvage source for only $35. I found all the flooring and Portuguese tile, meticulously coordinated the colors down to the grout, found second hand cabinets for the bathroom, found a stained glass light in the perfect colors to go with the tile and bead board wainscotting in the bathroom which was painted a very deep purplish blue to make the claw foot tub and pedestal sink pop. Before the fire I hated my house, now I love it.
Your home sounds magnificent. I love that you turned a disaster into an opportunity. Because of your vision, your house rose majestically from its own ashes, reborn better than ever.
That is just fabulous!! Well done! Your house is a veritable phoenix. How magical.
@@andreaandrea6716 I had so much fun getting to choose everythinng down to the last detail.
@@Glorindellen How wonderful that you did that... even more extraordinary is that you turned a tragedy into a Life's Dream!
Even the gorgeous cat in the gorgeous bedroom is a matching grey! Lol!
She’s good
Love this series
The entire series were so inspiring. What one can do with second hand items are even mind blowing. Such an amazing learning experience unraveled through individual creativity and a community put together... It was awesome indeed 💌
Just discovered this series. Will give a lot of joy as my husband and I recover from Covid (got boosters, of course). At 77 I'm beginning to hand off a lifetime of treasures to grandchildren. It's so fun to watch Kirstie use heirlooms and hand-me-downs with such flair. (BTW, having sinks in the bedrooms is brilliant!)
I do upholstery for the last 25 years and up to now never put a tack in my mouth not the way to do it, there is plenty of room on the table much safer to do .
I miss Phil with Kirsty. 😦jx
3:28 for a nano second I thought that’s a stuffed cat
I have loved every minute watching your home design and working with new skills. You are just the BEST at what you do. So inspirational Kirsty. Thank you soo much. Xxx 😘
Paining and refinishing antiques is a no-no. Best find out if what you have is old, first. What looks bad to you may be perfect to the true collector.
What 4 episodes it's been! Joy and goosebumps at the same time, absolutely amazed, and the look of the house, the place it sits in, divine!!!
Everything is exquisite. Bringing the calmness and warmth with good decor. Without spending excessively. Only negative for me, wouldn't put a tub. In a master bedroom for hygienic reasons. That's why you have a bathroom. But not knocking those. That like a tub in their room.
Amazingly welcoming house. Love all you do.
Amazing Kirstie! Is there nothing that she doesn't get involved in? I've loved her real estate series with Phil, etc. This is equally wonderful! What year was this filmed?
Is so so beautiful…. Well done Kirstie
What year was this please? I watched the series on TV and I can’t remember the year. Love it. X
love everyone of them...really love that she kept the sinks in the rooms...so creative
Come over here, Kirstie, and learn to quilt!
The farm quilt!!!! Oh, I love it!
Love learning form all the skilled artisans. Don't care for the monochromatic bedroom. It just looks bland and everything just melds together with nothing being eye-catching. Each to his/her own.
Whimsical, charming, inviting, beautiful and comfortable! Well done :)
My mum makes African quilts from African materials and designs. She made me some for my house and many tourists commented on them. i jst love what you can do with fabric !
If you watch 'Location, Location, Location,' you'll notice that many of Kirstie's dresses are made from African fabrics!! (I think she must have a seamstress who makes them.)
Just wondering, as the house has been empty for so long, any chance it is haunted?
Hopefully not.
Lovely ideas though
It’s beautiful Kirstie!
Love the blind in the children's bedroom. They can count sheep now.
Lovely and cozy house. Love your sense of style using the old and learning new skills.
love it
That house with all the lamps looks more like an auction hall. Such an ugly hodgepodge.
Some people ( with a name and status and maybe a title and some eloquence and persuasion ) can sell anything to people with no clue. Even dirt.
