When I moved to France from the US, I discovered Kirstie's You tube shows. She is delightfully entertaining to watch and listen to. I admire how she jumped into the learning of all different crafty things, and learned along the way. She knows how to make a house a home, and listens to the wants and needs of the persons she is designing for, so they take part in the remaking of their homes. I have never found anyone on line who teaches how wonderful it can be to find bargains at thrift shops the way she does, and values handmade items. All of these things I have done for many years myself and was thrilled to see her in action! How much fun to get to know her and call her your friend!! I hope she continues to do shows, so the younger generation will be able to learn all these wise lessons. Oh yes, and I can not imagine my house being all gray, how depressing!!!

I loved your talk. You are so inspirational and it’s a pleasure to listen to someone who appreciates that you don’t need lots of money to have a comfortable home with objects that make you happy. I’ve taken on board that I need to get rid of things I’m hanging onto that I clean and don’t enjoy. Thank you so much. Xx

She’s a natural on camera. Fun to watch her take on projects like when she made candles and stained glass.

Well said Kirstie on sustainability. Keep the temperature gage a notch cooler and wear a cardigan or a jumper. Ask "where is that from" for every item before you buy it and don't buy anything that has been manufactured more than a few hundred miles away. Food waste is incredibly problematic, shop carefully and eat seasonally as much as possible.

Yes and also people don't realise the light spectrum we have in England means you need to take into account ALL of the grey shades!!!!!!! Some greys just won't work for you..😑

I totally agree with Kirsty I can’t stand this overuse of grey ! Whenever I watch homes under the hammer it seems to be plaster everywhere grey ! Walls, carpet, doors, fixtures ahh ! It’s awful !

Kirstie, I am going to paint my living room a dark grey as a backdrop to a collection of Modern Paintings that are very strong, with reds, yellow, olive greens, orange, blue... The colours one paints ones walls ought to be REALLY WELL THOUGHT OUT, as to how they live in tandem with everything else in the room... but ESPECIALLY as a backdrop to ones Art.
I now live in the NW of the US where we have weather and light rather similar to England.
But I thoroughly agree about grey ... and the bouncing of LIGHT. There isn't ANYTHING more important than light, esp. in England/UK, where barn conversions are not allowed to have more than ONE window per wall added into the structure.
...It's now a year later and I've decided to paint the walls that will be a backdrop to my paintings a very very dark blue.

@@MarcoNegrisEye Oh!!!!!! An apology!!! That's an anomaly!! That's lovely. Thank you. Please don't worry... the problem here in print is that there is no TONE, so no one ever knows how something's being said and obviously, you were teasing in a friendly manner. I would hate to think that we stop doing that altogether. So many changes in the world. We NEED humour!
This talking aloud thing (and in print) is an affliction of age (I'm 65). (You are right to tease me ... and I DID sound defensive). You too, take care.

@@andreaandrea6716 I was just trying to be a bit of a wind up merchant, not anything malicious but like you say, there is no tone in print. But thanks for your kind and forgiving response. Don't worry about your perception perhaps being an age thing as I have a 38 year old brother and a 15 year old daughter who both are a NIGHTMARE with taking things wrong down in print. Although as evidenced I can be a smart arse so sometimes their initial response is correct 😂 Thanks for your reply.

I hate the gray all over decorating...so bland and blah. The color and texture in decorating bring warmth and charm ✨️.

I like Kirsty but she’s talking like buying second hand and dumpster diving is a new thing ,Ive been married 47 years ,as newly weds we would go to auctions and pick up discarded antiques for next to nothing ,we would clean ,mend or paint stuff we would even “reinvent” furniture to other uses ,I picked up discarded items off the street before it was fashionable ,We bought a really old electric sewing machine that only did straight and zigzag stitches ,l made some of my clothes and furnishings using it, .Kirsty loves crafts but she can’t really craft as she doesn’t actually make the item just part of it ,Does she really design decorate and those rooms ,i love when she goes around the junk shops and seeing the end result of the items bought from there in the home ,I like the programme though ,

It ISN'T new, but she doesn't claim that it is. And she's been doing it ALL HER LIFE! Her parents did up something like...17 houses? So they moved all the time and it's second nature to her, as it is to you! And me! I think that the question was "What's next?" and she was responding. Think about it; As a reaction against the Mid-Century-Modern, everything will swing in the opposite direction. But she does claim that she is NOT crafty!
