BEGINNER Tries a PRISMACOLOR Technique Box for the First Time (Level 1 Drawing & Shading Landscape)

- I’ve been asked several times for a follow up review on the Prismacolor Technique Boxes, so I picked up their new Level 1 - Drawing and Shading - Landscape box and asked my husband Steve to give it a try. I thought that this would be a fairer Prismacolor Technique Box Review because he is a beginner, and we would be able to see just how beginner friendly these Level 1 boxes are. He was a good sport and gave it a try. See what he thought of the experience and get our thoughts on whether or not we would recommend the Prismacolor Technique Level 1 Drawing and Shading Landscape box.

My husband and I have the same hobbies as you and Steve. I am deeply and passionately into coloring, my husband is in love with photography. He will take his camera plus a selection of lenses out and come back with a hodgepodge of pictures of pets, people and scenes. While I disappear into the pages of my coloring books. We come together to show each other what we have accomplished. We typically react with I don't know how you can get into all this technique with one another. We also have pretty intense careers and the enjoyment we get from our hobbies is really essential to us. I have learned a lot from your channel and really enjoy your videos.

Steve, you are such a good sport to jump in like that, good job! and your first attempt looks much better than my last, so I think you could be going places with coloring if you chose to, and you are definitely the cutest guinea pig I've seen in a while maybe you've picked up a thing or two by osmosis

I put in for the pencils, don't have much hope, in 46, going on 47 years in July, I've never won a single thing in my entire life. Not even at carnivals games, where you pay to win. So yeah, zero hope. But I went through all the steps. My luck meter is at a negative number. LOL!

Steve you did great. I have seen these boxes at Walmart but wasn't sure what they are about. Well now I know. And you get quite a few items to do the picture. Scan the picture on color pencil paper.
Steve is a great sport, did a great job, and his love for his wife is unquestioned! I think a more accurate review would have come from a beginner who really wanted to learn.
I love this video. Your Husband was a good sport. I laughed with him when you asked him if he was having fun or something like that. 😅 and ive learned something by watching it. Draw 1st or go by the picture 1st. . Either way this waa a great video. Gave me a good laugh after a long day of work.

Steve was great. Maybe you can show this box as allround coloring. So we can see the different.
I think he did an amazing job too. I think you truly need to have an interest to do colored pencil drawing and coloring because it's really slow. I'd love to see him try watercolor ;-). I did the Landscape 3 and enjoyed it, even though I didn't necessarily like the color choices. I started the Labrador Retriever...so far not nearly as rewarding. They don't really do a great job of describing what they're doing. I'd love to see how you'd do with that one. I'm glad that they may have improved the lessons with the new kits.
First, Rose’s reaction was great. Second, I’m really proud of Steve for giving it a try. It shows that people like me that are just learning aren’t alone. It feels overwhelming and knowing I’m not alone is great.

I bought a box today at Walmart for $22.97.
I got a box called Nature. It has a flower. I would have preferred the palm tree on the beach.
I don't really care because I just want to learn how to draw. At least I have a starting point.
Mine came with one rough sketch. I made a copy on my printer so I don't mess up the original and can come back and try again.

Steve did a nice first time illustration. I agree with you Jennifer that patients is helpful when coloring. I sometimes lose my patients when doing color alongs because I didn't watch the entire video beforehand to see where the artist was going. So now before laying down any color I watch them. Thanks for another informative video.
A few months ago I bought one from Costco and they are 2 lessons in one box. I bought it for $9.99. I basically just bought it for the pencils. I also found one at Walmart on clearance for $5.
Thanks Steve, my coloring has the streaks showing too. Never the smooth, and even. I wouldn’t watch the video that was offered. Jen is a better teacher .

It was fun to watch - unfortunately the box is not available in Sweden… 😢 It would be nice to have the possibility to access the classes and sketch and info about the colours to use…
