I say it all the time: paper is EVERYTHING. You can make even the worst pencils work better on good paper. On the other hand, even Luminance won't look very good on bad paper.
Crayolas look great on Neenah vellum Bristol but suck in Johanna Basford books & regular copy paper. My prismas & polychromos are fine on all of them. So matching paper & pencil definitely matters.

I do more fine art than coloring now, but when I did a lot of coloring, I used Tombow Dual Brush watercolor markers a lot. Once I did a side by side mini painting comparison between them and some of my professional watercolors. I could NOT tell the difference. Tombow’s blending is wonderful and the brush tips perform superbly and give you great control. It’s just too bad they’re not lightfast and Tombow’s web info about them states that very clearly.
I been coloring for a decade. My favorite paper is Strathmore 500 series, Derwent Lightfast Paper and Fabriano artistico Hot Pressed water color paper.

Sitting on my couch with a blanket and watching your videos…so relaxing and fun 🧡 I laughed out loud after 1:09…thought my sound wasn’t right, but it was Rose snoring 😂 still a bit sad that you guys can’t ship the books outside the US, but I understand. Shippingcosts are expensive.
Mountains, Hills, and Speed Bumps lol. 😄 Black watercolor- yes please! Or black mixed media might be more ideal. Gouache, opaque acrylics, gel pens, metallics, shimmers, glittters, interference and color shifting media is where black really shines. Japanese and Chinese watercolors tend to be more opaque like gouache(their style preference) esp cheap Chinese watercolor sets that use lots of fillers for cost savings. For translucent paints try using a white or light non lifting media as an under painting layer. Like inktense, and Albright durrer, water color pencils are supposed to dry permanent. (Always Test on scraps!) Rose in gouache on black (or tan) would really pop. She’s such a sweet pup. I enjoy seeing her in your videos.
This did encourage me to use my tan paper. I love your watercolor paper especially. The problem for black for me is not being able to see the image printed on it. Actually, never tried to print on black paper but I assume it wouldn't work. I know you have coloring books you've printed yourselves but I have no way of printing white ink. This was a great video! Love to you guys and little Rose 🌹
Have fun with your tan paper. We print our black coloring pages with black ink because, like you, our printer doesn’t print in white. Give it a try. Look for illustrations with bold black lines.

Canson 90 lb. XL 8.5in x11in. watercolor paper goes through my printer. I have an HP. It's spiral bound and the pages are perforated. Just in case anyone is looking for one that goes through a printer.

I lucked out on my printer. It's only got about a 70° curve on the paper path and I've run as high as 250gsm paper through it with no problem. It's an inexpensive HP Deskjet 1512.
Speaking of white pens!!!!! Could you make or do you have a video comparison of some white pens please? I have so much trouble getting Sakura to roll smoothly no matter what speed I go. Thanks

I am really enjoying my sampler with the four white papers. I'm going back and re-swatching my different mediums on the correct paper. It really makes a difference! The watercolor paper has been working great with my Epson Inkjet printer. How can you decide which is the best side on watercolor paper?
So happy to hear you are enjoying your sampler pack of paper. Steve says you look for the texture in the watercolor paper…the side that has the peaks is the right side. FYI…I have had good luck coloring on both sides.
Have been so curious about black watercolor paper but can't afford the learning investment. I'd definitely save aside to get a black watercolor version of the black paper mandala book you have in your shop.
Very interesting demonstration, unfortunately I'm in the UK so cost of trying your pads and sample packs makes them too expensive but enjoy your videos.
I store my gel pens by brand and keep them as horizontal as practical. If you are a member of our Coloring Academy, check out the “Fast Track to Gel Pens” workshops…I teach more storage ideas there.
from April 17-27 I was in Internship. The place is called "happy design". I helped design Confirmation cards, Wedding cards and Tikki masks. Should also Design a flower wreath, a cross with Jesus, butterflies, dogs and teddy bears. Had so much fun. Now I am waiting to be notified whether I can be employed permanently.
Depends on so many factors. If you are printing on the watercolor paper like we do, then we recommend our watercolor paper. If you don’t need printing capabilities, then the sky is the limit. Depending on your budget, give the cold press (more tooth and texture) Arches a try.

@@gabrielamezone7572 I have a CANON TS-9000, that’s a color inkjet printer,but for watercolor it’s not good because it smears, so I have a BROTHER laser, HL-L2350DW but I purchased it like maybe 2-3 yrs ago,the cheapest really it’s B&W I only use it for watercolor paper or paper that I will use for watercolor pencils and I can use up to 140lb no problem, I have to feed it manually. I hope this helps

I think you’re asking about Inktense pencils on marker paper? If that is the question, I would say they work similar to the watercolor pencils I used in these demonstrations. Watch for an upcoming Inktense video where we will be exploring this product more.

What about activating wc pencils with other liquids? Oil spirits glycerin etc ? Next time.

Yes! But small illustration lines will be hard to see so pick an illustration with bold line work
