How Did This Luxury RV from Newmar Surprise Me? 2018 London Aire

  • In my never ending saga of living my best life, I was asked to inspect this luxury 2018 London Aire for Doug Sewell with Sewellmotorcoach ‪@Sewellmotorcoach‬ in Kentucy. After completion, Doug thought I should do a complete run worthiness test on an extended cross-country test drive to his dealership in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. And how I'm I going to say no to that?
So join me in as a routine inspection turns into a cross country trek during a winter storm, that cuased me to take a long detour through Texas. I will share the features of this 2018 London Aire luxury Class A diesel pusher from Newmar, and make a few minor complaints.
    Thanks for watching!!

Doug will have to start paying James more. I've already made up my mind. If or when I purchase my first RV, Sewell Motorcoach will be my first look, and James will definitely be the deciding factor of the purchase.

Successful service industry businesses have one thing in common, almost universally...they don't cheap out when paying the help. Doug is happy to pay for your service and that probably translates to how he treats all his employees as well. Which means your going to get great service from his company. This is coming from someone who has run small businesses for 33 years now.

Another great roof inspection and tour! I also hate those trough style faucets on RVs. My Tiffin came with one and I replaced it within my first couple of months of ownership. The first time an air bubble goes through the line the faucet will spray the entire area with water (or winterizing fluid). Whoever thought they were a good idea in an RV never traveled or stayed in any RV that had one installed... Thanks again!!!

it literally spit on me right before the video, but they get stained easily too where the water sits when the faucet is off.

Great offer by Doug... if I were in the market now, that would be a persuasive selling point. I have a 15 Dutch Star with almost the same floorplan and most all of the features of this LA but with only a 450 Cummins. Although, my coach is only 40' so the 450 is plenty.

Awesome!! You do a much better reviews than most RV dealers. You get to the point and with some extra technical details as well. One thing I do not like about sales persons its when a buyer knows more about the RV than the salesman.

I really love this coach with its classic interior. I love that Doug asked you to do the inspection James and the final inspection for whoever purchases this RV. Trust is everything in this industry and I’m honored to say that I trust you both and would have called you anyway for this coach. Given the circumstances of the industry during the economic downturn I have no idea what the price represents but somehow I’ll find out more information on its true value. No disrespect but with sales down over 50% thus far I would like to buy something that reflects the reality of this particular coach.
If I have to wait another 6 months or even a year I will. I’m ready to buy the right RV at a moment’s notice.
Finally please let me wish you and Doug a very merry Christmas and a delightful New Year ☃️🎄🛷🎁♥️🥂

Everyone knows YOU are the star of the show, James. Love the London Aire. They look like Newmar's answer to the Prevost H3-45 but as you said, quite a bit lighter but also a little less expensive. I'm always amazed at the height of those London/King Aire models. Gorgeous coaches but personally I would take that '01 Prevost XL2 Doug has on his website. Omg, that is a thing of beauty. One of these days I'll be in a position to live my dream of traveling the country full time in a '97-'01 vintage Prevost XL or XL2. Don't get me wrong, I'd give my left arm for the London Aire and I'd definitely need it, if only for the steering assist having just my right arm and all. I think it might be worth it. Lol.

I own an 2018 Dutch-Star that is so close to this model. The only thing mine lacks is the motor. I cannot complain about the hp mine has as the 450 hp it comes wit and 1250 torque ...its does everything I need with moderation, but dang it that 605 hp and increase torque is awesome too.

Great job, James! I think Doug Sewell's offer was a really nice touch! It shows integrity as a seller, too! One thing I'm wondering is if there is a dedicated "breaker panel" or fused block on your Beaver Patriot Thunder, with extra spaces that you can use to neatly tie in those LED bars you want to add to the basement? Oh, and incidentally, will the electronic control system allow "remote control in the house section" of the new circuit? Merry Christmas and a Most Happy, Healthy New Year to You and Yours, James!

James. The more I watch your videos the more confused I get as far as which company makes the best coach ! Tiffin, Newmar, Prevost, vintage Beaver, vintage Liberty. They can't ALL be the best ! Maybe you can do a comparison of main pros & cons. Lastly, do any of these coaches you've been driving have Retroband inserts in them ? Have you had a front tire blow out ?

My apologies for being very late to the party. At 20:53 some threaded bar and a crank are shown in the slide out tray. Thanks in advance, and as always many thanks for your extremely helpful videos, James!

Most of the Newmar luxury brands have similar layouts and construction, but here are the main differences:
New Aire: 35ft chassis , essentially a baby King Aire
    Mountain aire: 500 hp engine
    London aire: 605 engine
    Essex: traditional/elegant styling, more tech
King Aire (2021+) : contemporary/European styling, extreme tech, high end appliances

that long slideout cover was sagging and when it rains will touch the slideout, should be tightend..ask me how I know..and every time I see these I see a money pit for repairs and maintenance and terrible fuel mileage, fuel pump issues also with this engine, turbo flange seals, had one in a truck..all that power means less fuel mileage and problems the newer ones they fixed better but this engine had issues in these years

    Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request your assistance with a matter related to my 2016 Monaco Diplomat DF motor coach.
Firstly, I would like to express my admiration for your skills and expertise. I am confident that with your help, I will be able to resolve this issue in a timely and satisfactory manner.
I have the Monaco diplomat owner's manual and specification, but I am unable to find any information on how to access the engine to change the belt and air intake filter. I have searched the manufacturer's website and other online resources, but have been unable to locate this information.
I was wondering if your dealership or service center might have access to additional documentation or be able to provide guidance on accessing the engine for maintenance purposes. Any information or guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to your reply.
    And happy new year!
