Hi, my name is Jim, and I am one of Mr. Menville's nephews. It's a shame he didn't live to see his films be seen online. Thank you and Len Janson for posting this!
Remember this being shown at one of the monthly meetings of the San Fernando Valley chapter of the Ford Model T Club of America back in the mid/late 60's! Think I've seen it once since then until now. FINALLY, I know what it is! THANKS!!
@@johnkuzma7066 HA!😆Yeah, it does sound like a "T" 4 banger! Only error there was the transmission shift (and the "column shifter"). You likely know, T's were 2 speed pedal operated, band shifted. No gear crunching! 😊 Might have been another make from the same era.
At 7:57, the former Garden Court Apartments, 7021 Hollywood Blvd; Hollywood, Los Angeles. The building was used as the backdrop for "Death Wish II", and Cheech and Chong's "Next Movie".
Thanks for this as I seen this since “Driver’s Education Class” in 1976. I liked his “Gulf Oil” commercials also…😂! Augh the simple times in California when you could leave your garage door open and not get robbed before you left the driveway…😮….also gas was 32 cents a gallon at a “76” station…😊…wish that time would come back…😂! Have a great day!
Oh my...TCM shows unheard of movie, everybody (including myself) runs to find it on UA-cam afterwards. I think it says something about the phenomenon that is UA-cam.
Thank you so much! This is my family's humor to the tee. I give thanks to your friend and you. What a classic. We will play this forever if we can. Is it on DVD? I would buy several copies of this. Please let me know.
LunaticByTheSea ya what is the joke its ao atuoid i have to watch it but it has to be the stupiest film i ever saw and i like old films bit aome are just stupid
Does anyone know what vehicle was used for the majority of the engine sounds of the Hot-Rodder? Sounds like a very distinctive engine note. The putt-putt driver's engine sound like a Model-T type (but electric-start) or maybe Model-A engine.
I just saw this short for the first time on TCM on Demand. I thought it was rather funny, too. But I was wondering: Could this short possibly have been the inspiration for Gulf Oil's No-Nox premium gasoline commercials in the late 60's? (I was only 6 years old when those commercials first aired in 1968.) And, were Mssrs. Janson and Menville also involved in those commercials' production? Nevertheless, this short is a masterwork. Thanks so much, Mr. Jansen, for posting it!
Pizza the hut - That horn sounds to me like an aftermarket "Turkey Gobbler" air horn like the JC Whitney catalog might sell. Either that, or it is just the organist hitting some keys on the keyboard. I think also that some Alfa Romeos had horns like that.
"The producers of this public safety film wish to express their gratitude to the following organizations...without whose cooperation this motion picture was made." ...Wait, what? (Seriously though, great little film!)

Saw this like 50 years ago and this is the first time since. Hilarious! Thanks
I just love how Len works that cigar...true genius!!!
Before CGI (Computer Graphics) Amazing how much stop motion photography must have been used!

I thought that engine sounded familiar

At 7:57, the former Garden Court Apartments, 7021 Hollywood Blvd; Hollywood, Los Angeles. The building was used as the backdrop for "Death Wish II", and Cheech and Chong's "Next Movie".
And thus, road rage was born.
That's a classic bad case of road rage!
WONDERFUL!!! You can't help but love this! And all their others, too!
why does this remind me of "Spy vs. Spy"?
Whoever Madge Wilson is, she has my admiration for the score she played.
Just a hoot to watch!
Katrina and the Waves did a music video with some of this effect in it.
What was the Name of the Song?

That must have been a pita to film !

Yes, just saw this on TCM as well - FANTASTIC SHORT FILM!!!
Omg this is the third time ever seeing this short, I love it, every time I see this
At 2:27, gas prices, 32.9 and 35.9....... I grew up in Whittier at this time and bought gas for 29 to 31 cents per gallon at the Powerine Station....
Maybe this is where the term "Butt Hurt" started.

It's a real shame that talented film makers like these had to suffer through the dark age of animation.

Any idea what the song is at 00:18 ?
Fabulous - but the soundtrack is disabled. Can this be fixed?
On the bottom of the video (task bar) you will see a speaker icon. Click on that and move the sound up.
you know i think we all saw this just now in tcm. but still i love it!!! the sound is a little off and quiet, could you fix that?
I am looking for Blaze Glory if you have any ideas to where I can find it Message me back Please. Thanks

I don't get what you think is so hard to understand?
@@honey_bee65 Probably because they were being tricky in getting our tax money to fund their film.
@2:27 gas at $3.29
No, that's 32.9 cents per gal regular and 35.9 cents per gal premium . The price of gas late 60's.
