My mouth dropped open at the end with the 3D effect(I’m guessing they built a diorama and spliced in the animation... the effect is flawless!!) This is the kind of movie magic that really sparks a sense of wonder. Whereas everything is just explained by CGI now, old films really had that “How’d they do that??” effect!
They put a surprising amount of 3D elements in cartoons back in the thirties! Popeye had a lot of 3D sets himself, it's incredible what they could manage back then
i cannot begin to describe how nostalgic this is for me. my mom had a huge collection of classic cartoons she raised me on like betty boop, felix the cat, casper the ghost, tom & jerry, you name it. glad i can rediscover and re-watch all this stuff and feel the nostalgia to come with it.
AH! I knew I recognized that Grampy man ... he also played in this vintage Christmas cartoon that me and siblings watched as young kids called "Christmas Comes but Once a Year". I see he's always helping the little kids out!
I was just gonna say the same thing. Classic kid. Waste the soap and water, go to all the trouble of making the sounds like he's washing up, then just get the towel filthy. Lmao the little details in these cartoons is absolutely amazing
Thanks so much for giving us more Betty. I am collecting her cartoons & especially enjoy the songs. They sure don't make them like that anymore. She is such a hoot! 💯% 🆒️*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣💙💜😀🙃
Grampy's hat is a telegraph key. Some of them light up and make that beeping noise. That's probably what they used for the sound effect. I wonder if it spells anything in Morse code.
2:31 is literally my little sister when she doesn't get her device back and also Betty Boop is acting so motherly to the kid, I think she would make an amazing babysitter.

Kinda makes me wish I could try something like that at home when I can’t go outside.

The later Popeye cartoons had that 3-D effects in some of them too.

You be right they built some of the props and use stop motion to move the prop around along with animating the characters onto a glass.
We all need a Grampy in our life.

He is a genius!
Ryder from GTA San Andreas was a genius.
Yessssssssss UvU
Understatement right here.
Actually his inventions were pretty clever!
Yeah they were
I agree. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Better that Five Minutes Craft
It’s so creative 😊 the Grampy cartoons were always my favorite

they need to pulled out these show back out on TV...
MeTV has already done it. It’s on Popeye and Pals on Saturdays
0:50 I love Betty Boop's singing, she's has a lovely voice!
I thought I had watched “all” of UA-cam Betty Boop but 5/5/22 is first for this jewel. Betty’s lengthy song is a ear worm!
The apartment building and some of the furniture looks quite modern for being 84 years ago
It really isn’t! These types of furniture were really common back then
Not really, they were common back then
....no...it's just that our furniture has stayed similar. You can find furniture like this if you go back centuries
No that was actually fairly common back then
Because our country is underdeveloped 💀
Grampy isn't just a genius inventor; he's a sorcerer.
Some of these old Popeye cartoons also had.3-D effects too.
