Always a delight to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful animation and highlighting the real tragedy of zoos.
This short is sort of a core memory as I remember they would play it VERY early in the morning on Nickelodeon so I'd end up seeing it while waiting for other shows to come on. Good times
I'm always impressed by the quality of this.
Absolutely wonderful. I first saw this film in 1990 and watched it and over. And I think the Brazilian puma is my favorite, and when I learned that the voices were all of regular people, and the puma's was of a Brazilian student, the film meant even more to me.
OMG - I saw the series when I lived in Italy in 2005, but the title in Italian never translated to something I could find. Just on Aardman's site and saw the Creature Discomforts, same format, and finally found this! Yeah! Can't wait to watch them all in English :)
I have been trying to find this since 1999. I am so happy to have randomly stumbled upon it!
Absolutely classic!
It just doesn’t get old. The detail is incredible. Right down to the turtles adams apple when he swallows. And knowing it’s real people being interviewed, The dad who is afraid to say he likes steak, and then embarrassed by his son saying steak with lion. Genius, it’s up there with Star Wars and Gladiator.
This is actually one of the first things I remember seeing on a TV screen. Probably around '92-'93 and on video cassette. I could still remember the upcoming chuckles (turtle heading the beach ball, bird pulling the others beak), would have my little toddler ass in hysterics.
Utterly BRILLIANT!!!!
Claymation at it's very very best!
Everything about these films are utterly BRILLIANT!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I haven’t seen a short film when it aired on Nickelodeon Back in the 80s and early 90s.
In case anyone doesn't know what this is, it's interviews with residents of a housing estate and an old people's home synced to claymation.
This is the same animator that did the movie about the escaping chickens from a chicken ranch...I can't remember the name of the movie, sorry, but I do remember watching these series on t.v. for a short time years ago... GENIUS is all I can say.
Chicken Run, Wonderful movie!
ICYDK, The Jaguar also makes a cameo in The Wrong Trousers as a museum exhibit. I recently watched Wrong Trousers after watching a bit of this, and I instantly recognised the Jaguar when I saw him.
This was always the highlight of every animation film festival.
I remember this from when I was a kid, haven’t seen it since, been sitting mouth open in surprise thanks for the memory!
The polar bear family are now in therapy
This is made by Aardman Studios, right?
The animation style looks SO similar!
Yes, it’s made by Aardman animation studios.
After spending two years in London I completely understand where the Brazilian puma is coming from.
NICK PARK IS AN AARDMAN LEGEND!!! LONG LIVE AARDMAN FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!
That Jaguar sounds just like the great Ayrton Senna. It's uncanny!
It’s actually a puma.
not That much
Such an entrancing, clever film. Really one of Park's best works.
"We don't like potatos we like meat" Somehow my favorite sentence of the entire short
