Not making full use of the log storage imo ;p Each dam or zipline stage should have a platform for storages, with K doing a large clear then dumping them into the nearest storage. You just need to grab and zip at each point. Having the ziplines extend further so that they run past each other a bit. Inside that bit should be the storages. In addition to going into the inventory to "pause" and heal, thrown grenades still detonate while you're in the inventory, and the mutants can't do anything about the full damage they are about to take.
Loot always respawns upon joining so you can get ammo and other supplies at the helicrash easily. I made my base right next to the crash and I looted the containers, saved and reloaded my game for tons of ammo, meds and building supplies.
I’ve found a way to duplicate logs, first get two logs out of one full log holder, whilst holding both the logs, press E to equip another one from another full log holder directly next to it. Since the logs automatically go into the holders when loose, they will duplicate and fill both holders. Pretty useful.
I think it's the most informative video ever since the release of SotF - thanks for that! What also surprised me were the integrated LEDs on the inventory mat and the possible color change. xD I'm not quite good at crafting armor either...
Hold a stick and walk to the door, you get a prompt to attach it (create a lock). The cut side of the log is where the lock will be. In your case you might wanna change the outside and inside of the door so the lock is on the inside of the door.
strength does not influence the amount of items you carry or the amount of hits needed to kill.also does not influence the speed in which you cut down trees. all it does is,it increases your hp pool.
Just found your chanel and I'm absolutely surprised by the quality of this video. Not only is it extremely informative, but it also doesn't spoiler anything and it is even quite funny. So thank you i guess, really helped me out there.

And you will both recieved the materials. I only play with my brother, so give it a shot if you play with more people. Nice way to stock up on meat and other materials especially early on.

But, he has a bad habit of throwing grenades and molotovs without warning while I'm trying to hack and slash through enemies so I've started skinning things without him as a punishment for taking off all my armor
It would be helpful if they brought back the stats page from your in-game pocketbook so that we can see our strength and maybe the effects/numbers of everything. Like, if I am a 25 in strength how many extra sticks am I able to carry. Something small but I often feel like it would provide real value for me
@@Twizted86 Sometimes it takes a minute to find 20 sticks in the wild. But your book is always with you. It's an easy addition that gives the player more knowledge of their capabilities. No downsides except the little bit of extra coding to put it in.
Some golden tips in here. Good work! There's a lot more to strength than you see on the surface. I'm also extensively testing. Meet ya in the middle! hahah Cheers! Thanks for the shout out. :)
Great video! 99% of this was news to me! The only thing i saw that might need a disclaimer is the, "Hop in your inventory and let your stam/health regen". That unfortunately only works in single player. In multiplayer the world doesn't pause while in your inventory. Other than that, it was a great video!!
Decent beginner trick: Build your first Base location somewhere in the middle of the starting area, so not in the mountains, but somewhere by the big lake that has 3 or 4 rivers connecting to it, that way youll never have to walk too far to get to each of the caves, except for the rebreather cave. However, if you manage to get the beach spawn, you can get the Rebreather right away and start your journey afterwards to save you some time. Also, build your Base close to a river like he said in the Video, and get your wooden Logs from somewhere up the river instead of chopping down the trees right around your Base. Trust me, your base will only look half as good with dozens of tree trunks but no trees around it.
something that isn't mentioned often is that, aside from blocking with a weapon, you can also parry. If you double tap your block (right-click by pc default) you can give a little shove which will parry cannibal's attacks. I don't know if it works on anything other than the regular sized cannibals running about.
I can confirm that it can deflect Creepy/Faceless Cannibal attacks, but can't deflect heavy/leaping attacks, or any attack from Brutes, Redmen, or Creepy Mutants.
Going in inventory in MP does not pause the game! You can make a half height defensive wall to make it easier to shoot at cannibals. I don't think they will try to go over it either. Haven't tested this. You can cook rotten fish and make it edible again.
for the defensive walls they seem to avoid anything with a spike, even the 1/4 logs so I've been doing my walls alternating full log, 1/4 log and then you have nice gaps to shoot through
PRO TIP: 1. Put cloth around the tree -- Kelvin will not cut that tree. 2. Double tap right click to parry normal-sized Cannibals. Giants and Monsters can't be parried.
this was awesome fun informative dude this game is so complex its so good ive never played the first so ihave like no idea what the story is either and im having a blast dying but yo the constructionnnn thanks!
Just an FYI, I haven't seen anyone doing it, but you can use a stick on a door to create of a lock of some sorts. I don't know how good it is against the cannibals though.
I know the video is older but when building the fires. If you just stand and look at the base where the rocks go and just start placing the rocks. The rocks will automatically go to the next rock location so you don’t have to follow it around
how do you do place the zipline exactly ? I've built one, but the logs don't fall into the stockage, they are just stuck into the wall such as an arrow would do. :/
@@lazharus5254 Best way is to build a frame like this: |¯| Attach the zipline on the front of the top log and place the logholders on the other side. The logs then should fly directly into the log holders.
I take out every other log in my wall to poke a stick through. it allows me to see my bases surrounding and to use my spear though the wall for extra damage.
I think it would be very funny if someone made a detailed introduction/guide video of all the survival and crafting mechanics, but without showing or mentioning cannibals/mutants at all. Just a fun & cozy wilderness survival sim.
Another tip: Golfcarts absolutely DESTROY the cannibals when you run into them or barely touch them as you drive by. Perfect for early game if you're being harassed.
Just a note on the inventory hack. While the world is paused, time is not. O left the game running while I was in my inventory in summer, went about my day, came home, realised I left the game running, went out of my inventory, and it was winter.
Just a question, and this is NOT an attack on either channels, but, youtube is both your guys job. UA-cam is your boss, so when to colleagues in a company has an conflict, do they reach out to their customers to "solve" their problems or is it their responsibility to resolve the conflict within the company? And isn't it any help guide or something within youtube that the content creators can reach out to to get help resolving such problems? If not maby youtube should have their own HR departement to help solving these type of issues cause there's alot of em.

Like, if I am a 25 in strength how many extra sticks am I able to carry. Something small but I often feel like it would provide real value for me
strength doesn,t affect how much you can carry, just how much health you have
or you could do as irl and pick them up counting as you go until you cannot carry any more.. then you will have your number :)
@@Twizted86 Sometimes it takes a minute to find 20 sticks in the wild. But your book is always with you. It's an easy addition that gives the player more knowledge of their capabilities. No downsides except the little bit of extra coding to put it in.
@@Gardolind this. someone always try extra hard for an early access game.. smh
Good stuff. Straight to the point and no BS. Subbed.
Good point!
That spontaneous doom shotgun edit was insane
I am BUSY....oh, there goes an arm. 🤣 That was fantastic!
Decent beginner trick:
Build your first Base location somewhere in the middle of the starting area, so not in the mountains, but somewhere by the big lake that has 3 or 4 rivers connecting to it, that way youll never have to walk too far to get to each of the caves, except for the rebreather cave.
Get a glider. Once you get the hang of it you don't walk long distances.
From my experience, strength only goes up when 1) you're swinging a tool/weapon or 2) you pick up logs.
yeah same here. strength also doesn't make you do more damage or carry more items. it's just hp from what I've seen
Man. . .
This usually was Farkets job. . .
But thank you for this great video ❤
something that isn't mentioned often is that, aside from blocking with a weapon, you can also parry.
Logs on a zip line is the best.
little tip with a radio is if you tap the E button when its on it will change the station/music.
Going in inventory in MP does not pause the game!
You can make a half height defensive wall to make it easier to shoot at cannibals. I don't think they will try to go over it either. Haven't tested this.
You can cook rotten fish and make it edible again.
More than once too.....cooked rotten fish become edible again after cooking a second time. Pretty sure both things are are not intended....lol
for the defensive walls they seem to avoid anything with a spike, even the 1/4 logs
so I've been doing my walls alternating full log, 1/4 log and then you have nice gaps to shoot through
I did see a video where the cannibals will hop over a half wall but apparently not if there is spikes on it or in front
@@pbsixgun6 yeah the rotten cooking bug is very helpful but unintended and will probably be patched soon
4:50 that was satisfying
PRO TIP:
1. Put cloth around the tree -- Kelvin will not cut that tree.
2. Double tap right click to parry normal-sized Cannibals. Giants and Monsters can't be parried.
Nah, sadly that is not true!
You can NOT put Cloth around Trees 😢
This is just a "Feature Request" right now ^^
Awesome. I build my base just on the other side of the river where you build it
I SWEAR YALL ARE SO CREATIVE
Thank you Tem. Tips are always welcomed.
I once instructed Kelvin to fill my stick holder, but I had like 8. Went away on a caving trip and came back to find hundreds of sticks.
0:22 i was attentively listening to what u were saying then u threw a limb at the cannibal xD
Man thank you so much for these tips most of these I didnt know you can do in the game
lmao that killing montage when the cannibals killed you
another tip, if you're a lower level player dealing with cannibals the torch works well as a weapon.
This video was very useful thanks! I am also wondering where you set up your home it looks like a great area.
First timer to the game and your channel. Impressed with both. Subbed.👍
this was awesome fun informative dude this game is so complex its so good ive never played the first so ihave like no idea what the story is either and im having a blast dying but yo the constructionnnn thanks!
the tip videos ive seen have been pretty useless but omg this one is amazing, Than you!!!
thankfully from the new hotfix the other day i believe the treehouse issue with kelvin just got fixed
you can use the sled in the river and you can also use Grenade on group of tress to instantly cut them dawn
propably best tips and tricks I seen in youtube
I'm really liking the sons of the forest series
Just an FYI, I haven't seen anyone doing it, but you can use a stick on a door to create of a lock of some sorts. I don't know how good it is against the cannibals though.
Very, VERY helpful. You never cease to amaze me. Thank you. 😁👍
There are so many tip videos and your was the most helpful so thank you
pretty cool. i knew the most of it, but some things are new to me. thnx a lot !
I know the video is older but when building the fires. If you just stand and look at the base where the rocks go and just start placing the rocks. The rocks will automatically go to the next rock location so you don’t have to follow it around
9:45 Okay THAT is surely useful! Especially when you use more than one zipline to move the logs.
how do you do place the zipline exactly ? I've built one, but the logs don't fall into the stockage, they are just stuck into the wall such as an arrow would do. :/
@@lazharus5254 Best way is to build a frame like this: |¯| Attach the zipline on the front of the top log and place the logholders on the other side. The logs then should fly directly into the log holders.
16:55 Virginia really is like a cat. Look at her bringing you that dead squirrel she hunted, such a good girl.
you earned yourself a subscriber
Well that was an easy like and subscribe. Great stuff man, thanks!
I take out every other log in my wall to poke a stick through. it allows me to see my bases surrounding and to use my spear though the wall for extra damage.
Very helpful guide thanks for the video and keep making more content for sons of the forest
I think it would be very funny if someone made a detailed introduction/guide video of all the survival and crafting mechanics, but without showing or mentioning cannibals/mutants at all. Just a fun & cozy wilderness survival sim.
Thanks for the tips but more for the humor :D I laughed quite a lot during this video
Virginia will dance for you if she is near a playing radio.
4:03 OMG thanks alot for that bro!!
Another tip: Golfcarts absolutely DESTROY the cannibals when you run into them or barely touch them as you drive by. Perfect for early game if you're being harassed.
The man. The legend.
great video, probably the best sotf tips vid I've seen!
omg thanks for this.. especially the strength stat!!!
Just a note on the inventory hack. While the world is paused, time is not. O left the game running while I was in my inventory in summer, went about my day, came home, realised I left the game running, went out of my inventory, and it was winter.
dude, this is a perfect video
Just a question, and this is NOT an attack on either channels, but, youtube is both your guys job. UA-cam is your boss, so when to colleagues in a company has an conflict, do they reach out to their customers to "solve" their problems or is it their responsibility to resolve the conflict within the company? And isn't it any help guide or something within youtube that the content creators can reach out to to get help resolving such problems? If not maby youtube should have their own HR departement to help solving these type of issues cause there's alot of em.
This video is gold! Nice work !!!! here have my like!
