If you build with lots of stone, ignore the stone storage and just have Kelvin complete the fireplace blueprint structure.when you want the stones, disassemble the fireplace toward a log cart to auto collect nearly all of them.
thats awesome lol - i jus started a game on the hardest diff.idk wtf to build tho, i was guna hug a cliff near a pond for stones but im near too many roads. there are so many good spots but a bit harder to find one that can support you during the winter

Building in sons of the forest is immensely satisfying... if not a little frustrating at times 😂
The realistic nature of chopping down trees and managing wood structures is what sold me on it
One of the better building mechanics imo. Fallout 4s building was horrible so war Day z. The only games to have a really good mechanic was this one, Enshrouded and Minecraft.
Building it's pretty simple yet complicated, it's fun and annoying at the same time
@@j-s-m IMO it's more Sons of the Forest, Enshrouded and valheim. You don't really have a 'free' build in minecraft, everything need to fit as a square. But the voxel add a lot for the creativity of course. In comparaison, in valheim/Enshrouded, you can take a plank and put it everywhere on the wall, The placement is totally free. Everything need to 'snap' in minecraft

I played Sons since the earlier access came out and I’ve replayed it again since the full release but I never did much building until now and I gotta say it’s a lot of fun

If you utilize the roof where you leave gaps, does that allow water from the rain and snow to come in?
for #29, when you make the stairs first, you can add the stump for the railing after without needing to place the other logs. :)

Awsome video! Many thanks. I need that bar NOW hahah #29 - you can avoid all that by placing at least one stair. It locks the diagonal beam in place, enabling the vertical snap point :) #37 is also not needed anymore since there are corner ramps now. intruded and extruded. The triangular frames no longer need a vertical beam. but i can't make corner overhangs and arch bridges anymore. Since 1.0... :)

You can use logs from fallen trees as decorative elements. I used this technique to build a more realistic sawmill

Bro the loghack command would have been useful before i spent several hours and over 500 logs cut by hand to build a small house with barely enough room for a bed and a fireplace and a defensive wall
Hi thanks for sharing what has got to be one of the best building tips for Sons of The Forest I have seen so far, this has given me some rather helpful tips of how I am going to build my base, and Yes I have been using Cheatstick from time time for some items, but I do like the actual cutting down the trees animations whilst using a Axe, I have just Subscribed to your channel as I found your video extremely useful! 😊

With floors, if you simply right click it will change the orientation of the planks/stones. No need to worry about angles or existing structure.

I gotta ask, has anyone figured out the new rules for an insulated shelter? Use to be you could have a ceiling one-quarter log high and it would still count, but now my bases are treated the same as though I am outside. Havent found anything discussing this.

Small correction on the X means dismantling said part will collapse what if suports.
This isint allways the case and sometimes you can break the pillar without anything breaking.

How do you create the fence at #12 because for me after i put the 2 sticks pointing up on the existing fence it won't let me put the 2 sticks in the middle like a fence, just sticks pointed in random directions??

That shelf trick for building scaffolding I'm going to use. I would just place an angled log and build scaffolding that way
4:51 windows is suspect
This game seriously just needs to remove the building restrictions / add a modifier key to ignore them.
They clearly are screwing up the 'restrictions' resulting in needing to do dumb workarounds like 5:05. And we're already existing in a world where you can build on Ice and have a floating house in the summer. So just let the players have fun.

nice tips, but how do you do the infinite log cheat for building?
Install WeMod and activate it while you are in the game menu. Then activate the option to enable the debug console Press F1 and type LogHack On to activate it, and then LogHack Off to deactivate it
when ur in the game...just standing there...type *cheatstick* ...just type it with ur keyboard even tho there is nothing to actually type it into...and after that u can press F1 and when the console commands are there u can type *loghack on* and if u dont want it u can type *loghack off*

If you're playing the story mode don't bother building it just slows down your progression.
