Great to see Skye again. We spent our honeymoon here 60 yrs ago, returned on our Silver and Golden wedding anniversaries. Now in our 80s and not fit to travel so far I enjoyed the video so much. Thank you Steve.
Wow, so many long threads and deep connections to this special place, thanks for sharing yours, each of you. Islands are powerful places and this one clearly holds a special place in many people's hearts and lives. Long and fondly remembered.
Very enjoyable! I would love to travel on Skye and overnight in a bothy! You guys make the impossible , possible for me!!!!! Much appreciated! Thanks so much!
I can only echo what everyone else has said. The incredible beauty of the scenery is just so stunning it makes me want to cry. You just did it justice. Thank you Steve.
My daughter was in Skye a couple of weeks before Steve....and she was giving us the lowdown on most of the places you visited, meanwhile I'm just back from Polmont with visits to Burntisland and Lochearn. I used to go up to Lochearn fishing with my granda when I was a youngster, the eyes grew moist when I went to the place where we used to camp.....such happy memories.. Burntisland wasn't bad either I met the FM and had a photo taken with her. A cracking short trip up "back hame".... Thanks for an excellent video Steve, words alone cannot describe the beauty of Skye...the videos bring home what a glorious place it is.
🙌 two hands up from me to visit more Bothies. And please invite us to come along 😁 I’m sure loads of viewers would be up for a shin dig in a bothy one night 💚💚💚💚
Many happy memories of Skye climbing in the Cuillins.Worked on the New Road from Scronsar to Slighan away back in 1962/1963.Deserted Single Track Roads not like that now and visited in Oct 2023 could not believe how busy it is now.At 92 years of age now like to remember it as it was in the 1960s.Stayed in croft at Lower Breakish for 7 months whilst working on the new road at Scronsar just as well with the Multitude of Camper vans on the Roads there now. Thanks Steve for your Video made a Old Man happy looking back
Steve and Alicja, this is the second time I've watched this video. It's been over 17 months since it was posted, so the timing of this comment might seem a bit tardy, but it's the current events in the world that make me appreciate this -- and other of your videos -- all over again. With all the war, disinformation, and economic uncertainty we're faced with today, your videos are like a warm hug on a cold, rainy day. Seeing the serene natural beauty through appreciative eyes, hearing the interesting dialogue supplemented by subtly humorous captions, feeling like a friend who's been invited along on your adventures... It's all priceless and a very welcome break from the news -- and a reminder that reality is not confined to the bad news we're bombarded with, but also the beauty of nature and accomplishments of people, past and present, who've helped shape our world in very positive ways. Thanks again for all that you do!
I remember sailing in to Portree Saturday pm, needing diesel for the yacht, no shops open, no cafe, nobody around on a Sunday, and no diesel except by ordering 500 litres from a tanker. We found a fisherman who sold us some, it was 11p per litre! That was 1985, its all changed now!
A strange reason to thank you for your travel blogs, Steve. My husband is in the terminal stage of dementia and, at times, can become very agitated, weepy and angry. I have found that showing him your journeys, listening to the gentle background music, and your gentle Scottish accent calms him and gives me some 'me' time. Dont stop what you do, it is more entertaining than you know
It is nearly 30 years since I last visited Skye. This wonderful video brought the memories flooding back😊. Thanks for reminding me of some of the places I enjoyed so much!
Without a doubt, the best Skye video I have ever seen. Interesting, educational, entertaining and inspiring, with fantastic scenery captured. Thanks for that.
Another great film. For those interested in wildlife, we took a longer trip from Elgol, stopping at Canna and Sanday, and saw basking shark, golden eagle and sea eagle, red deer on Rum, all sorts of other sea birds. What a great 4 hours.
Man I love Scotland, wish I was there right now. Since I haven't been able to go that many places lately, videos like this really help keep me sane. Great work Steve!
Skye was part of my patch from 2006 through to 2016 when I left the Highlands after 25 years. My heritage on my late fathers side is Highland even though I am Edinburgh born and bred. This makes me want to return, it’s a stunning island.
Many thanks Steve for bringing back so many memories of a younger me. I remember driving all the way from Sheffield to Skye in one go, 495 miles and having to pay £12 for the Skye bridge. Looks like you did ok with the weather as well. All the best Mike in Sheffield.
I always think of the song 'The far Curillin's are pulling me away', the tune is now in my brain forever (well today anyway). Never been to Skye been in Scotland a good few times and always enjoyed my visits. Thank you for sharing your trip, I look at the pair of you walking effortlessly over the hills and mountains, I can just about crawl to the opposite side of my living room now, age and cancer I'm afraid but I can always dream of walking beside you two in spirit. Thank you.
Hi Steve, how you show the beauty of our land is truly amazing. Your content is just unreal this has got to be my favourite journey so far. Added bonus always love to see you both exploring together, can I just say what a great picture Alicja drew in pencil. Steve thank you so much as always.
Absolutely stunning video Steve. The Scottish Tourist Board should hire you lol. You captured the most beautiful island in the world brilliantly. Martin
Enjoyed this video so much. My grandmother was born in and grew up in Dundee. My grandfather’s family has a long history in Cupar. I never had the chance to meet them. My father grew up in Toronto and New York, as his father moved for work. My father never sought out his family in Scotland even though he was so proud to have that connection. I would love to travel to Scotland for an extended trip. Your channel is so special to me. And you are both so kind, and generous and wonderful.
I visited Skye 40 years ago and had forgotten how stunning it is! You brought it all back with your wonderful film. Now I’m planning another trip and definitely going to take the turntable ferry. Thanks so much and I’d be very interested in seeing more Bothys.
Thanks Steve and Alicja for showcasing Skye and the work of the MBA, these shelters are a godsend. Their remoteness is their greatest asset. In out of the way spots, when the weather turns stormy these can make the difference between a chance to dry out and warm up and something altogether more drastic.
Steve, I love all of your videos but this one has to be up there with the best, the scenery looks unbelievable. The music and filming is fantastic and love the way you both have loads of fun sharing your adventures. Skye is somewhere I definitely want to visit one day for sure. Keep on travelling and sharing your journeys. More bothy videos would be great as well 👍🙂
WOW. A couple of years ago and Loved seeing places I was able to get to when we went to Skye in May. A mini refresher tour. You guys are so cute together.
So lovely to see Skye again! Such a stunning place. I recognized some of the places you visited but it was great to see those off the usual tourist routes.
I’m sick right now and this was truly the best medicine!! Thank you Steve for sharing these beautiful landscapes and your charming commentary with us. More bothy content please!
hope you are on the recovery..i stay in skelmorlie.north ayrshire scotland... i have just got a new knee..walked the hills all my life with my border collies...i explored many parts of scotland with my off road 4x4 landrover...now got a citreon c4 electric car.. preparing to get get away soon up the islands and west coast.. hope is all well. get in touch..thanks alan clark.
Hi! Im thoroughly enjoying y’all’s videos. Not only am I able to view amazing places, but ur commentary is great. I have to laugh @ some of ur funny jokes. I live in the states & have never even heard of a Bothy & would really enjoy seeing more as y’all travel. Thanks so much for sharing the places u visit. I look forward to seeing them 😉
Hi Steve & Alicja , I recently subscribed to your channel as you really seem to enjoy your short trips and they make great viewing. Even though I'm not far away (just across the forth!) you still inspire me to visit places a bit further from home. You are a very engaging presenter (like you've been doing it for years) and the videos are also very professional. As the lovely Alicja features more and more that makes them all the better, although you are both very brave sleeping in a van in some of the Scottish weather!
Hi Steve and Alicja absolutely loves this video, the scenery and colours are amazing. The sea was so vivid and beautiful. Definitely on the to do list. 👍
I discovered your channel by chance and am currently watching one video after the other, your video of Skye, my secret dream place where I have been several times, is simply breathtaking and beautiful, thank you for your great video Steve and Alicija, greetings from Germany ❤ SCOTLAND ❤
Hello Steve and Alicja....this has got to be your best vlog yet, fantastic scenery.I''ve been to Skye twice but only for weekends and not long enough to see everything as you know. Alicja always seems to be so happy,it must be the fresh air that does it! Thanks again for your amazing work Steve. 😊
Absolutely stunning video! My ancestry is Scottish. I was born in Washington State and lived in California all of my life. California has a lot pretty stunning scenery, but watching this video, it's hard to believe such locations exist. It looks like you're a long way from the world. I'm 63 and I've been playing the Highland bagpipes for over half a century. What I wouldn't give to stand on one the precipices you've shown us and play my pipes. One of the things I like most is seeing sheep running around through the streets of those small villages. Like a stray dog or cat in the town I live in.
@kurtb: What I wouldn't give to see you standing on a precipice (in full kilt of course) listening to "Over the Sea to Skye." What a romantic thought on an overcast morning here in Laguna. I have fond memories of Scotland, men in kilts, and of course, the pipes. Whadda ya know.....suddenly big drops of rain are falling here on my hilltop. So Cal is beautiful too but it's hard to beat the memories of handful of summers I spent traveling in Scotland. 🙂😌 ( 9Aug. 2023 )
Stunning video. Places we visited 3 years ago and some we will see in two weeks. Cannot await our forthcoming trip to Scotland. Got several valuable tips from some others of your videos . Thanks mate , stay healthy. Regards from Germany.
I felt as though I was on vacation in Skye myself because you both caught it so well. The scenery was awesome, actually breath taking. The idea of a sleepover in the Bothy on a stormy night..Yes!! Thanks for that guys, a real weekend tonic for me. And thanks for sharing a great vid.
Brilliant video, I have done the ferry many times and also the boat trip (via Bella-Jane) 3 times. Even walked round the loch one year. Took over 2 hours from memory but was well worth it.
My word!! Thank you for a lot of memories!! We were lucky to have three weeks on Skye in 2016. Looks like you packed everything into three days!! Great vid had me smiling all the way through. Keep safe and well.
What a great video Steve. I enjoyed it so much. Will definitely have to spend some time on Skye now that I know what to expect. You do a fantastic job on your videos. Appreciated so much.
I have footage of us going to Skye on that ferry, the lady who works on the boat was just a kid when we went to Skye! So much to view and to take in how fortunate we Scots are in having this beautiful Scotland ! We were there again last year and visited the oldest pub in the UK and went and spent the day at the fairy pools! No need to take a plane, have a better holiday staying at hame!
Thanks this brought back long forgotten memories of 50 years ago. Hiking on Skye, catching the post bus from Broadford to Elgol. Hiking to Loch Coruisk over "the bad step", then scrambling up Sgurr Alisdair followed by scree running down to Glen Brittle. Finally walking back to civilization at the Sligachan Hotel.
I keep saying it Steve...your choice of subject...the quality of the film...and throw in a mixture of good music & some interesting facts along the way...makes your films...one of Scotland's best exports...like its whisky! well done and thanks so much.
Hey Steve, your views of the island are hard on the heart; your lighthearted narrative goes well with the breathtaking views that I swear I've seen before! It puts meaning to the words, eye eye! Ernie
Still catching up on all your travels ... You two are just the best guides ever....Keep taking us along with you its magical sharing your enthusiasm 😂😂😊😊😊😊😊
another beautiful and exciting trip. I love the fact that you make it to all the lighthouses. those are my favorite architecture! it's amazing how curvy and Switchbacky those roads are. almost had to break out the Dramamine. thanks again for being great tour guides. both of you be well, stay safe, love from Texas.
That evil ram on the cliff...he is the eye of Skye. And you are right - 3 days is not enough time there, as we can attest. But we learned loads of history there, especially about that infamous bridge, Flora Macdonald, and Saucy Mary. Cheers for bringing back some good memories. Well done episode!
Informative and entertaining. Your videos are becoming a highlight! I love your enthusiasm for Scotland - it's certainly a beautiful country. Never made it to Skye so far but its on the list now.....
Absolutely stunning! I went to Skye last autumn for a day trip and it just did not do it justice, that boat trip from elcoll? Elgoll?? I've forgotten, is a must!
This is a lovely vlog about the place I grew up. Having not been back in about 3 years, I really enjoyed looking at some of the scenery again here. Thank you ❤️
About 30 years ago my friends and I drove from Sussex to Neist Point Lighthouse where we booked to stay. Fabulous memories and great fun. Rock pools, wildlife, beer and friends. Happy days.
Yes, thank you for asking Steve, I would love to see the other bothys as they are a truly intriguing and caring shelter phenomenon. It's lovely to see you are so intrepid! Take care,
Beautiful blue water! Loved the fairy pools. Too bad you don’t sell prints of the photos you take. I’ve seen half dozen I’d love to have. Great trip, as always, thanks for taking us along.
Fantastic video. Stayed at the Neist Point Lighthouse cottages for 2 weeks back in 1990. Remember our luggage being hoisted down using the winch! No way could handle the walk to the lighthouse now! Had a fantastic meal at the Three Chimneys.
Some years ago we were on a Highlands coach tour, to our delight the coach driver said he would take us on a circular tour of Skye. He took us over the bridge, at the foot of the bridge was a traffic island. He drove round it twice and immediately returned to the mainland and declared that was the circular tour of Skye!!
We were on Sye in 1999 for 1 day, paid to go over the bridge, today I am sad and depressed, but watching one of your videos makes me feel so much better, thank you ❣️
Steve, what a fantastic trip you made there! That ferry was just incredible - wish we had done that when we went. But seeing this vlog brought back so many wonderful memories of my visit to Skye (you went to my favourite place of all: Neist Point...a little piece of heaven on earth!). Thanks for the memories of the beautiful island!!
I loved this video! I will be traveling to Scotland in May and staying on Skye for 4 nights - I cannot wait! All of this was very helpful - thank you so much!
Another great vlog thanks to both of you what an amazing place your Scotland is and so similar than some areas in the South Island of New Zealand much appreciated great videos can't get enough of it
Thank you. Brought back fantastic memories of our very first sighting of seals and a whale at Neist Point, then sea eagles on the drive back to our amazing accommodation in Stein. Happy memories.
Your video is great, as it brings back memories of a hiking trip I made several years ago. Skye is a fantastic place with the most stunning scenery, and you have captured it expertly. Of course the best way to experience it is on foot! Thanks for your expertise and insights!
Fantastic videos Steve !!. As always ..I’m always left speechless after watching them ..spectacular views..breathtaking scenery ..some of your videos are long.. but I always stay to the end ..Captivating to say the least.. Keep up the great work .. and most of all thank you !!
The beauty of UA-cam, taking us to places without limits, rekindling romantic memories… beautiful.
Great video Steve, it is my fav place in Scotland, along with Glencoe. Landscape beauty
The landscape reminds me of the Lord of the Rings, magnificent!
Aww how sweet, I've never visited that far North, it looks beautiful 🎉🇫🇮
Very enjoyable! I would love to travel on Skye and overnight in a bothy! You guys make the impossible , possible for me!!!!! Much appreciated! Thanks so much!
I can only echo what everyone else has said. The incredible beauty of the scenery is just so stunning it makes me want to cry. You just did it justice. Thank you Steve.
You know what, me to, I guess its really where I am from, and just found out like 10 years ago :) ✌
My daughter was in Skye a couple of weeks before Steve....and she was giving us the lowdown on most of the places you visited, meanwhile I'm just back from Polmont with visits to Burntisland and Lochearn. Going back and watching your older stuff, absolutely gorgeous video. What a truly breathtaking place xxx
Exactly what I'm doing. Whilst waiting for a new video, back track on some old stuff I missed
🙌 two hands up from me to visit more Bothies. And please invite us to come along 😁 I’m sure loads of viewers would be up for a shin dig in a bothy one night 💚💚💚💚

wow good on you sir, great memories
Steve and Alicja, this is the second time I've watched this video. It's been over 17 months since it was posted, so the timing of this comment might seem a bit tardy, but it's the current events in the world that make me appreciate this -- and other of your videos -- all over again. Thank you, the two of you made the videos very informative. The cenery is beautifull. No litter any where. God Bless.
Such a relevant and well worded comment dear Sir. :}
Great comment Bob, take care my friend
I can’t wait to experience this
Im just watching this episode again too. Fabulous episode. Skye is spectacular place. I love the Bothy and would love to see more Bothy episodes
Dont stop what you do, it is more entertaining than you know
Thanks so much for sharing this. It means the world to me!
I love the sound of the alarm clock. I must have it🏴
It is nearly 30 years since I last visited Skye. This wonderful video brought the memories flooding back😊. Thanks for reminding me of some of the places I enjoyed so much!
Wonderful! Thank you both, from Aotearoa/New Zealand. 🥰👏🏼
Wow, can you really see all that wildlife up there, thats great, making me want to bunk off work and set off now.
Man I love Scotland, wish I was there right now. Since I haven't been able to go that many places lately, videos like this really help keep me sane. Great work Steve!
And i should add, that path to Neist Point is soooo much steeper in person than it looks on video :)
Glad to help Jason, cheers! :)
Ditto. Watching from Australia 🇦🇺
@@paris5551000 Same here .
Thanks so much! Unable to travel much, myself just now, so this video was a delight.
That shot of the sun disappearing behind the mountain - just sublime.
Skye was part of my patch from 2006 through to 2016 when I left the Highlands after 25 years. My heritage on my late fathers side is Highland even though I am Edinburgh born and bred. This makes me want to return, it’s a stunning island.
Getting more and more like a theme park now Iain , too busy , not like it used to be unfortunately
Many thanks Steve for bringing back so many memories of a younger me. I remember driving all the way from Sheffield to Skye in one go, 495 miles and having to pay £12 for the Skye bridge. Looks like you did ok with the weather as well. All the best Mike in Sheffield.

You both are making me jealous with all this beautiful scenery 😮
Brings back memories of the same trip we did but walked back over the Black Cuillin over 2 days. Stunning.
Another stunner of a video, Steve. Thanks to you and Alicja for bring us along on your trips.

These Friday videos are becoming a true treat Steve!!! Love it!! 🏴 said it before travel Scotland should be in touch with you the job you do!!!!
Cheers Arron! Happy Friday :)
I need to get back to Scotland. The beauty of the place is breathtaking, and the Scots are the friendiest people I've ever encountered.

An absolute gem of a video, what a wonderful stunning country Scotland is, take care both of you, so looking forward to the next video.
Probably I one day shall make the islands and highlands of Western Scotland. Stunning landscapes and communities. Thank you for your work!
So lovely to see Skye again! Such a stunning place. I recognized some of the places you visited but it was great to see those off the usual tourist routes.
Breath taking views on Skye, it's been years since I've been there. Thanks Steve for taking us along and making such an awesome video in the process
Just beautiful, not enough words to describe the beauty of this wee country called Scotland, we are so fortunate.
Without a shadow of doubt 10/10. Have never been to sky. Thanks Team ❤️❤️
this video has seriously made me want a visit to Skye...looks wonderful and thanks for another fabulous video steve and alicia .

Beautifully shot, one of the best vlogs I have seen of Isle of Skye
Thanks so much! Wishing you a lovely trip
So emotional on SKYE brings a tear to my eye even just seeing the beauty as I travel with you two. big thank you
Hey Steve, your views of the island are hard on the heart; your lighthearted narrative goes well with the breathtaking views that I swear I've seen before! It puts meaning to the words, eye eye! Ernie
Great timing, Steve - we are off to Skye in a fortnight! Some fab tips from you, added to the itinerary. 👍
Brilliant video Steve & Alicja! This has to be one of your best yet!
That was a pleasant virtual visit to Skye. Thanks Steve & Alicja.
An amazing trip thanking you for the opportunity to share your experience with us, would love to see more of your experience
Still catching up on all your travels ... You two are just the best guides ever....Keep taking us along with you its magical sharing your enthusiasm 😂😂😊😊😊😊😊
Have just watched this video again, Skye has stolen my heart. I love the place and spent several days there and still only scratched the surface.
another beautiful and exciting trip.
I've used the Glenelg ferry way back in 1966 and it was very good indeed.
Patty- I've always wanted to go to Scotland. That was beautiful. Can't wait for your next trip.
Another beautiful vlog Steve and alicja thanks, yes would love a bothy tour, maybe overnight on previous island visits.
Informative and entertaining. Your videos are becoming a highlight! I love your enthusiasm for Scotland - it's certainly a beautiful country. Never made it to Skye so far but its on the list now.....
I wish I could come to Scotland again. I miss it very much especially after I watch your video. I love to hear your Scottish accent, too.
Thank you ❤️
Excellent vlog as usual. That boat trip and hike back to Elgol is now on my list.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us beautifully done of awesome landscape
About 30 years ago my friends and I drove from Sussex to Neist Point Lighthouse where we booked to stay. Fabulous memories and great fun. Rock pools, wildlife, beer and friends. Happy days.
Yes, thank you for asking Steve, I would love to see the other bothys as they are a truly intriguing and caring shelter phenomenon. It's lovely to see you are so intrepid! Take care,
Just amazing again guys, got 3 days booked on Skye beginning of September, think that boat trip is on my must do list now,
Thanks 👍
Thank you for sharing this beautiful island! So much history beauty and freedom it touches my soul.
How disappointing, I’m glad my late husband and I weren’t on that coach trip when we used to go in our later years, never forgot that magical place!
Many thanks Steve and Alicja,i have never been to the isle of Skye til now .
What a stunning isle,Glad you took me round with you both.
An absolute pleasure to show you around :)
