Hi Both, Sarah, It is upsetting at the time but your land Rover is only a big piece of metal you can replace that but thank goodness nothing happened to you because Willie, cannot replace you & you worried yourself for nothing Willie was lovely about it & as far as thin ice goes no thin ice drive the big boy all the time Really glad you both survived the storm both keep safe keep warm & look after yourselfs all 4 of u 🙂💖👍Lin

Oh sweet Sarah, that is why we call these things that happen accidents. You had no way to control the wind. Vehicles can be fixed and replaced, people cannot. I am grateful you are ok and safe inside your car. You are precious to your husband, and your dogs and to all of us who follow you on your life’s journey on the Isle of Skye!
❤ dear Sarah and Willie, don't sweat the small stuff. That was a favorite saying of my husband for years. We have been married 53 years now, and know that is true. Cars, hinges, all easily fixed or replaced. He had a massive widow maker heart attack and then afib, but survived. I had 3 cancer surgeries, radiation within 7 months, and last summer my gall bladder exploded because it was so full of huge stones. I am fine. That is the big stuff, but you get through it. Sending hugs from a 74 year old survivor in Ohio.
I could tell right away you’ve been crying. I assure you it was not your fault that that hinge broke. It was rusted and it just proved that that was the time that it gave. I’m sure you were shocked more than anything. I’m glad you’re all right.
Sarah your health is all that matters. Even if it does need another door it's not the end of the world and will give Willie something to do now that the boat is out of the water. You keep your chin up. ❤
Always appreciate your cleaning alas it does trouble me so much plastic and muck finds a way to the shores, goodness knows much trash actually is in our oceans and how much more junk floats and reaches the shores. 🇬🇧📣💕

Poor Sarah. She was really upset by that accident with the door. Glad they remembered to secure the bins. In virtually every news programme of the dreadful storms there are all over the world just now, bins are featured along rivers and floating down road. The most important thing is never take it for granted with regards to securing everything down you can.
@@livingtheskyelife- liking your bin storage area! We don’t have a bin down the bottom of our track here in Orkney, there’s no room - double field gate on one side and a bridge and burn on the other. Even if there was room it would be blown away most weeks!! I don’t fancy picking things out of the stream or under the bridge! 😏 We keep our bin in the garage and take the bin bag of rubbish down to the road end on collection day…assuming it’s not too windy, though a stone is handy in anchoring it down!!! I take our recycling (and sometimes landfill rubbish) when I take the car over on the ferry to mainland Orkney, often before I start college. 😊. Funnily enough the recycling bin here on Rousay is often quite full, especially the glass one! 😉 Let’s hope we don’t get too many storms this winter, this weekend has been a tad breezy..have you got snow yet?
Sarah - accidents happen- I actually saw my sweet hubby’s car and still backed up and hit his car 🫣then I ran over his foot in the process of moving my car afterwards- long long story he was fine 😂Willy, you are a rock star for how you handled the whole thing. I really felt bad for you Sarah, your tears were kind of heartbreaking. But Willie treated you so kindly. And Willie your voice is beautiful, it, your lyrics and music remind me of John Denver a little bit. But, truly you have a beautiful voice. And it’s so funny how Jack Spaniles tilts his head when you ask him if he wants to go for walkies. It’s impressive how you have trained Jack to handle himself when there are livestock near-by.
Oh my Sarah, these "accidents" can happen so easily without even the slightest warning! Once I was at the market getting groceries, and when I went to get out of the car a gust of wind wrenched the door right out of my hands. Fortunately for me, and my door, there was a fairly large pickup truck parked next to me with one of those steps to get up into the cab. My door hit that step, so there was no damage to the truck, only a relatively small 'wrinkle' in the edge of my door. Nature throws these things at us sometimes, I guess to 'test our metal', so to speak (no pun intended). Don't feel badly, you had no control over this.
Hugs to you, Sarah! I sure understand the shock and unhappiness of damage to a beloved vehicle. My 22-year-old Civic Emily was done in last weekend in a violent accident. I feel guilty, too, but we both did our best. And we will both go on and stay safe!

Hi Sarah I hit a tree in our paddock my fiance had just had the Land Rover sprayed. I was so worried he would shout , but he was fine I loved that Land Rover we sold it for more than we brought it they are truly amazing work horse but not for comfort XX
Enjoyed that, the two big plastic/rubber fish farm finds would make cool key rings, leather cutting die hammer them out then Sarah could make a Skye cottage logo to stamp onto them....id buy one and doing your bit to recycle

Oh my Sarah, these "accidents" can happen so easily without even the slightest warning! Once I was at the market getting groceries, and when I went to get out of the car a gust of wind wrenched the door right out of my hands. Fortunately for me, and my door, there was a fairly large pickup truck parked next to me with one of those steps to get up into the cab. My door hit that step, so there was no damage to the truck, only a relatively small 'wrinkle' in the edge of my door. Nature throws these things at us sometimes, I guess to 'test our metal', so to speak (no pun intended). Don't feel badly, you had no control over this.
Hugs to you, Sarah! I sure understand the shock and unhappiness of damage to a beloved vehicle. My 22-year-old Civic Emily was done in last weekend in a violent accident. I feel guilty, too, but we both did our best. And we will both go on and stay safe!

Oh my goodness…. Sarah, I wish I could have given you a big hug at the beginning…I felt so bad for you. It could have been so much worse… you could have gotten hurt!! And it could have happened to anybody. Don’t beat yourself up. You guys are so resourceful, I have no doubt you’ll get Yolanda back in tip top shape! Hi Sarah I hit a tree in our paddock my fiance had just had the Land Rover sprayed. I was so worried he would shout , but he was fine I loved that Land Rover we sold it for more than we brought it they are truly amazing work horse but not for comfort XX
