One day in 1988, I walked to the record store with the money I saved from mowing lawns. I bought Out of the Silent Planet because the cover looked cool. I put the record on the turntable and turned it up loud. What I heard was like nothing I heard before. I’ve been a close fan ever since and have been fortunate enough to see them three times. This is where I discovered drop d. I spent countless hours deciphering Ty’s guitar parts. King’s X, along with Rush, elevated my playing and gave me something to strive for. Musically and lyrically King’s X is a deep, deep well that has kept me curious and waiting on the edge of my seat for more.
I worked for Kings X in late 2005 on tour and they are a down to earth people and incredible musicians. Spent alot of time on the bus talking with Ty. Best time of my life.
That's just too kool 😎 bro!! The few times I've met these guys they've always been humble, friendly and just pure musical genius to the end. Must be some fond memories..👍💯
Do you know what amps he was using back then? I saw them with my dad around 1998, I was around 16 and had been playing guitar for 4 years and all I could think about is how amazing his guitar tone was.
@@cardbored_ he used a bunch of different gear back then…. I remember between the 90’s and early 2000’s, he had a POD Pro, he had a Dual Rec that was a rack mount / 2 channel version, and for awhile he used the Egnator M4 preamp. That’s definitely not all of it, but there ya go.
For those of you with kids and want to explain how life is unfair, tell your kids about Kings x. This band is super praised by popular bands and still with all the unbelievable talent in Kings x has they are not as popular as bands with little talent. Kings x made me want to be a musician and changed my life for the better. I will love them until the day I die!!
Words to express how badly this power trio was missed by the masses don’t exist. I suppose they were just too good for common folks. I saw them in Worcester, MA around 2003, opened for Ronnie James Dio. That was a stellar night.
King's X is one of the best bands ever. They have so many songs that are fabulous. They are a mix of Metallica and The Beatles. There is not another band that is as unique as King's X
@@tubehound69 Well said. Now if you don't already have their new album go buy it and make the band some money please. its an awesome album in my opinion and I have every album Kings x ever put out.
Ty nailed it on the question about how he has changed. My grandfather used to tell me "The more you learn, the more you find out how much you don't know".
King's X is one of those bands that if a member leaves then it's automatically a different group. Most bands usually have that one member who's the heart and soul of the band. But with King's X each member is required for the heart.
I like this because you know the meaning of the word underrated. Kings X should be so much bigger. I saw a comment earlier this week that said Brian May is underrated and I'm like, "What?!?!"
20 minutes in he tells how his throat is ragged and he's tired... yet he still goes on to give you another hour of his time instead of cutting the interview short. What a great guy...
The Red-Light District in Sydney Australia called "Kings-Cross"... The street signage is written "KING'S" in all Cap's with a big letter "X" under it....
I saw Kings X supporting AC/DC at Wembley and left before AC/DC just to get to meet Ty, Jerry and dUg, nicest guys in Rock. Saw them again twice and lost my mind during 'Moanjam'. Best live band out there and that bass tone is still ringing my ears 30 years later! Great interview, thank you so much for this video
I met Ty at a meet n greet after a show. I showed him a photo on my phone of a classic Fender guitar I have. We geeked out talking about music gear. Ty is a total gear head, he likes talking about guitar equipment. All 3 members of King's X are quite possibly the nicest, most friendly Rock Stars of all time.
Ty has been one of my favorite players for decades, and King's X one of my favorite bands of all time.Ty is what I'd call a complete guitarist. He's a musician first and foremost, and a guitarist second. This is why he is so incredibly musical. He's got good ears and he's not imitating other players. He can take the music where it needs to go.
Ty is one of the Greatest Guitar Players that ever walked the Planet. His tone is one that will go down in history. You can pick it out of a crowd................
Great interview. Ty Tabor is definitely one of the best guitarists around. Saw kings x several times and those guys are nothing but great people and great musicians. Gretchen Goes to Nebraska is one of the best albums of all time! A masterpiece!
Ty his my guitar guru... He’s a wonderful person. I love that saying ,“Smart people realize how little they know, and stupid people think they know it all.”
I tell my daughters and son-in-laws that same thing. However, I say "Wise people realize how little they know and Immature people think they know it all". Cause I think it's more about humility and pride than intellect. But intelligence def plays a part too. Btw, I also remind them that even a 2 year old thinks he knows it all & doesn't want to listen to anyone and until a person grows out of that, wiser people will always see them as somewhat immature. Same goes for impatience, drama, defensiveness, vanity materialism, etc. It all just immaturity.
A very insightful statement. Seems almost obscenely obvious. but sadly lost on or ignored by so many. As humans we have so infinite much still to learn.
I’ve seen these guys so many times in Chicago and Milwaukee. They always put on an amazing and memorable show. Afterwards, they’re so gracious and patient with their fans by hanging out and signing autographs.
Fantastic interview! Like many others that watched this video, King's X is my all-time favorite band. They completely changed my world in regards to introducing me to harmonies, different tunings and showing the "rock" world that you can still put out incredible music without bowing down to the mainstream. Yes, part of their story is the question as to why they never were a bigger band, but I love the fact that they don't care what is popular. They create from their hearts and stay true to themselves.
Can’t quite put into words just how much king’s x means to me as a band. Ty has always been such a man after my my own heart. LOVE this guy’s playing and his personality
I love Ty and Kings X..I've seen them many times..Great band, very unique and talented...Ty will always be one of my fav guitar players, not just for being a fantastic player, but for his great attitude and friendly, modest personality...I'm looking forward to the new Kings X album...great interview...
When Ty talked about The Producers experience,it reminded me of one of my all time favorite concert tour experiences ever. KingsX opened for the Scorpions in Phoenix…we went just to watch KingsX! We left to go around back of the Collisium to hopefully meet our heroes, and Monty from the Galactic Cowboys saw us when he was leaving, and gave us his 2 back stage passes. We got to meet KingsX and stand with them next to the stage as the Scorpions started their show! I will never forget that moment! Ty,Dug and Jerry were so down to earth! If you see this comment Ty….i want to say thanks for being so gracious! Still have the signed Dogman album cover on the wall of my drum room….God Bless😎🤘
The scorpions live blew my brains completely out of my head. They were somehow tighter and more radical than the album at the same time. I was working for clear channel at the coral sky amphitheatre in West Palm Beach FL, and there was a lightning storm on the horizon at sundown as a backdrop. I can't even explain it.
Thank you ELG for sharing this! 40:05 Ty, my group was so so excited to see King's X back in MN (twice, actually). King's X is the band that musicians hear/watch going "omg - that's incredible". If King's X is not your favorite band, then I will tell you that your favorite band's favorite band *is* King's X. Edit: Forgot to add that when I watched the show, I was in a complete trance - Ty was smiling at me, I was could not help stop smiling back - cheers!
It’s July of 2022 and I just saw Ty, Dug and Jerry play their first live show in several years in NYC the other night. Blew me away. I’m 52 and I don’t know how I didn’t get into them over the years- I’m like a kid again discovering all of their music. Incredible band. Wishing Ty the best of health and and all the best to Jerry and Dug. Great interview of a super down to earth guy. Thank you!!
Thanks for your kind words Red Out and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫ I'm a little older than you and from the city, as well... and I don't think they played there a bunch, I asked myself the same question!
Man I'm right there with you. I don't know how in the world I missed King's X until about a decade ago, but I did. Now, at 58 yrs old, they are among my all time favorites! Great interview!
I just found this interview tonight 11-23-24 and loved it. Great questions and nice warm approach. When Ty answered the very last question with stating how love is the ost important thing, it brought me right back to the very first time I ever heard King's X when their hit single "It's Love" had a video playing on MTV's Headbanger's Ball, hearing Ty singing "It's love that holds it all together." Can't wait for their documentary to be finished and come out. I believe it will be their "waiting for Sugarman" moment, which they so very much deserve, In addition, I am an writer and a musician who wrote a screenplay inspired by their legendary performance of "Over My Head" at Woodstock 1994 and also inspired by Doug's life. They guys have known about my project for a long time, as I've been fans of theirs since 1992 and am blessed to know them on a first name basis and even call Doug, whom I sometimes hang out with in L.A., a genuine friend. I LOVE Ty, Doug and Jerry , love King's X, my all time favorite band.
Correction…(My apologies in advance) not “open tunings” they use drop tunings where the 6th (E) and 4th (D) string of the guitar are tuned an octave apart. Commonly known as “Dropped D” when tuned to concert (A440) pitch. However, King’s X and other grunge/metal bands often tune down from A440 a half-step, whole step, even a minor third (with heavier strings and setup adjustment). A common King’s X tuning is C, G, C (octave), F, A, C. This is dropped D down a whole step. Most common “as low As you go” tuning with standard Instruments. Some guitar players have gone from 6 to 7 strings adding another 4th down on the scale with a string below the 6th. On standard instruments dropped “C” is about as far as you can go without string rattle and buzz. Black Sabbath tuned down back in the 70’s due to Tony Iommi’s severed finger tips (from and industrial accident at work) but did so in “standard tuning.” Many guitarists, especially Fender Stratocaster players (Hendrix and SRV), and those that play with keyboard players will tune down to E flat (one half step down). The Stratocaster just has a stronger voice and tone in E flat. I’ve always tuned my Strats to E flat. It’s where they breathe fire and take no prisoners. In bands with strong keyboard players, you’ll find they love those black keys which means songs written in E flat instead of E and B flat instead of B or A. Strong male tenors (vocalists) love the key of B flat. Also, if you play with horns they love the keys with flats and sharps (the black keys). So, by tuning to E flat a guitarist can still play in open string keys on the guitar yet the keys, horns and vocals will be playing those flats and sharps they love. It’s very common for guitar and bass to tune to E flat. The “drop D” is also commonly used on acoustic guitar as is DADGAD where the 1st, 2nd and 6th strings are all tuned down one whole step. I remember playing “Fat Bottom Girls” by Queen with Ty on our Les Pauls in his little apartment in Springfield that he shared With my band mate. He was like, “Oh, yeah! I remember that one. Drop D! I love playing in that (tuning)!” This was when the band was still “The Edge” - right before the new wave “Sneak Preview” days. 🤦♂️ Man, I hated that name…and that awful sounding album! Yikes! I remember pissing them off good - as a practical joke I sent a couple of those awful sounding songs to a buddy of mine at the local AOR FM station when they were coming to town as King’s X years later! “And now ladies and gentlemen here’s the humble beginnings of this former quasi local band with their Uber Heavy layered sounds. They are coming to town next week here’s now King’s X playing “Media Man” from they’re Sneak Preview LP 6 years ago!” LOL!!! Plank plank plank “Media Man!” LOL! Man, they were pissed at me! My buddies and I laughed our asses off. God, they were SO GOOD! Anybody that heard them back in the day knew they were going to “make it.” For whatever reason, the masses just didn’t dig them - not like all the musicians in the US and Europe did anyway. I was proud to know them. I was proud to support them. I remember one time they were in town, Jerry’s son flew in and he asked me if I would give him a ride to the airport to pick him up before the show. We did and had a blast. I think we got BBQ for everybody on the way back. That was a great visit. Love those guys. We’re all old fucks now. Back then we were all peach fuzz faced babies - except for Doug- he was the elder of the gaggle - although he rarely acted it. Good times man!
I saw Phil Keaggy in a very small church in Western NY in the early 80's. There was only about 20 people there. Had a nice conversation with Phil after the show.
I LOVE Ty Tabor, first time I saw him in King’s X was in Nottingham, England 🏴 in 1988, 1989 on The Gretchen tour. A special atmosphere when they came on the stage that night.
My first exposure to Kings X was seeing Over My Head on MTV. I was hooked for life after that. I saw them at Woodstock ‘94. Hands down they were the best band there IMO.
Craig, thanks for the interview, Ty is such a down to earth, humble person and such a big influence on me and many other musicians, He didn't mention it but 'King's-X' have one of the most loyal fan bases, and i'm proud to be part of it.
Hi Ty.. I just wanted to tell you I really enjoyed this interview.. Being a fan of your band and your guitar wizardry I kept telling our producer that I want my guitar to sound like this from Kings X. My band Love/Hate did the support slot of the AC/DC Razor's Edge in 1990 and you guys picked up the 2nd leg right after us. Defiantly helped our sales. Wish I had had a chance to see you guys on the same stage.. Nothing but respect to your band and your guys artistic approach.. Peace, Jon E. Love
Great interview with a member of one of the greatest bands of all time....goes all the way back to out of the silent planet and Gretchen goes to Nebraska
Saw them in Atlanta around the time they recorded Dogman. Ty forgot the second verse of "It's Love", the whole band stopped, he laughed, and then BAM they kicked right back into it. The most astounding display of musicianship I'd seen at the time.
I fell in love with this band in 1990. The second album was out. Kings X we’re otherworldly to me, a band from a different planet. They were real and different. Mostly real. I have had the pleasure of seeing Dogman live in 1993, all the way to seeing them live at least two dozen times. There has been no other band that has the emotional impact on me than this band did.
42:29 is the saddest rock & roll anecdote I’ve ever heard. King’s X has always been “Thinking Man’s Metal” and “Your Favorite Band’s Favorite Band,” and yet tragically ignored by the public. How they survived such crushing disappointment that week is astonishing. 😢
I've been into King's X for a long time and later got into Ty's solo work and it is really good. King's X is scheduled to come to my town in October so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays on and the virus keeps a low profile.
Incredible band.I first saw them in Joplin Mo. at a bar called Missouri Mining Co.Kirk Henderson was the 2nd guitarist. They we’re just amazing live.We got to be friends & I was always impressed with how humble they were for being such incredible players.
The Producers!Like Whats He Got,That I Aint Got!Got You!So CooL!I Saw those Guys in Lafayette,in like 85,at club Espirit!Never 4 Get That!❤Dogman, just Like The Rest of the Records,This Is Still Awesome Stuff!
Wow, this was one of the most interesting King's X band member interviews I've ever seen I really enjoyed it! I remember when I first heard King's X living in Spring, Texas outside of Houston. It was of course Over My Head from Gretchen Goes to Nebraska and I heard it on the radio when I was at work one day. I loved it and I went out and bought both of their current releases. I didn't immediately get drawn towards Out Of The Silent Planet, but about 4 months later, I was driving up to see an old girlfriend in Little Rock, Arkansas and I had that tape in the car. I listened to it and Gretchen Goes to Nebraska and was just blown away by the first album. And I loved the second album even more than I had before. I can remember driving up Highway 59 in Texas with torrential rains coming down around 2:00 a.m. and just listening to the music over and over again because it was so good. I went and saw them play at the Tower Theater soon after that and was face-to-face with Ty and Doug standing at the stage and that was such an incredible performance. The stage was not raised I guess because we were at the same level and they were rocking out like nobody's game! I went and saw them a few months later at the Sam Houston Coliseum when Galactic Cowboys opened for them. It was another great show but not as upfront and right there in front of you as the Tower Theater venue allowed. But both shows were incredible. The next time, I believe anyway, they were playing I wanted to go see them but that was when they were opening for AC/DC. That was at the Houston Summit too. I couldn't get off work and I missed that show and I'll always regret that. Seeing them in their early days in Houston was some of the best concert memories I have had growing up. Especially that first show! I've been a big King's X fan throughout their history. And I still am. I hate that I missed this 4-year-old interview. I've just never seen it before and it was great. I can't help but hear their music and have it take me back to those days in my early twenties when I first heard them and saw them. What a great band they were and are and what fond memories I have of those early days! I still have both of those ticket stubs too I did see them in Dallas one time at Dallas City Limits. But I haven't gotten to see them again through the years. I lost my vision on, of all days, tomorrow 23 years ago. I had eye surgeries that were scheduled and began on 9/11/2001 that wound up not fixing a problem but leaving me legally blind. I would love to see King's X play live again and I hope one day to get to. My three favorite King's X albums are their first two albums and Tape Head. Just seeing this interview today, I'm going to pull out my Gretchen Goes to Nebraska LPs and do some jamming on it now. Thanks for the great interview even though I am late to the party 😁 Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
I never could understand them giving up on Jughead because of the name. Excellent Ty side project. They need to get together and do more. Ty and Matt bissonette sound so good together. Call it jugface or lampshade... just a name. Great interview. Even the prato book doesn't discover those early Missouri bands he loved. YouTubing them now. Definitely see the influence of sneak preview era kx from there.
The Platypus stuff is great and the first Jelly Jam album is my favorite piece of work by Ty. That album is so well written and playing not of this earth.
very cool interview..hes an amazing artist/musician/songwriter and beyond humble..ive been seeing them live since 1989 and they never disappoint.their chemistry and love for the music is tangible
Such an in-depth conversation is an absolute TREASURE to us, Ty! And when you told the story of getting to get on stage & jam with The Producers, I couldn't help but imagine what it would mean to me & the musicians I play with if we ever had the chance to set even a single foot on stage with King's X! Thank you so much for being so candid and letting folks like me feel like we're getting to know you irl a little bit. Bless you!
just ran across Ty Tabor's stuff on youtube music searching for a "Kings X station". then discovered his solo stuff, then youtubed him and found this. Very awesome guitar playing and writing. Again, the solo stuff is just amazing. its so difficult to find hard rock/metal music nowadays that is fresh and not pretentious or copycat of other well known guitarists. Also, I graduated from evangel TOO! and i didn't know that about him. anyway much respect! peace!
Kings X is probably my biggest musical influence when I started playing guitar, bass, and drums back in the early 90s. I started drop tuning my guitars because of them. I met and hung out with them after their show at the Whiskey in Hollywood back in 2003. Great guys. Those first five albums were so great.
Fools Face ("Fools tale" long back section of hair was famous)- The Mistakes - Sneak Preview (The Edge/King's X) - southwest Missouri early eighties!!!
One of the most underrated guitarists alive…. His sustain, to carry the rhythm into his solos without crazy amounts of looping is amazing…. I know Dug and Jerry play a major part with the back bone. But Ty just has that magic touch!!! 💯💯😊
King's x is so unlike everyone else out there, and that is one of the best things about them! I Iove the Beatles....but I have to say King's x is my favorite band. I will never understand why the world does not hear what I hear...I buy everything these guys do ...it's all great! I even have that Jughead cd!!
I see some " UA-cam " guitarist saying " 'I'd like to go through some of the tones I like " and then proceed to fret notes which produces a noise which is amplified. Ty has tone. Real, sweet tone. There are guitarist that learn to play the mechanics and then there are musicians who are expressing their soul. Ty is one of those guys.
It's really great you know that Ty has such a unique style, and it's so King's X, him and dUG create a magical mix of vocals and harmonies that are so pure and riveting. I always get scared that I'm going to here bad news about these guys, it's been a good ride, of a band you don't hear too much about. Which I think is why they're still here... and rocking it even all these years later. He's so humble, so real. Incredible...👍💯
I went and checked out fools face and the misstakes on ty's word...I liked them...hard to find stuff. I can hear their influence in the sneak preview album before king's x. Loved the clean guitar and bass in the mix on those songs..good vocals too!!
The Jughead record is fantastic... I had no idea it was buried... "paging willie mayes" off that album is amazing as well as a few other tracks ! I have shows with Kirk Henderson on guitar... somehow so many of those "sneak preview" shows have survived. And the back story history is one of the best I have ever heard, it backs up so many stories I know but this makes it totally solid.. nice job making Ty talk and talk and talk... wow.
My ALL-TIME FAVORITE BAND! I've been a Ravin and droolin fan since 90. seen a lot of shows, one of my favorites was them opening for Dream Theater and Joe Satriani. They played Cigarettes and Ty's solo brought the whole room on it's feet for a standing O. No easy feat, that's a tough crowd!😆
Just discovered your channel and absolutely loved the questions you asked and the content! I’m a huge Ty and Kings X fan! I’m very excited to hear the info on the new X and solo music coming from Ty!! I’ll never be able to play or sound like Ty but always fall into his style! Also as a singer I’m happy to hear of the harmonies coming on the new material also. Ty, Dug, and Jerry are 3 quality human beings and I look forward to the next post gig fan meeting!! Thanks for your channel and thanks to Ty and Kong’s X!!
I stumbled into this and am very happy to see Ty and hear that a new couple of albums are coming out... Would love to have Ty master some of songs we have.
Thank you so so much for this. You said an interview with Ty was on the way. As ever, great interview and great insights from an extraordinary musician.
Ty is a fine steward of the spirit of musicianship and kindness. It would be such a gift to be able to just sit and pick some guitar with him. A really good player and even better person. Always learning.
Craig! Dude Really? 1:07:10 in the interview. You've Never heard of Trapeze? Mel Galley, GLENN HUGHES, DAVE HOLLAND? The song MEDUSA Mel Galley had a distinct guitar sound. Very good call Ty.

AMEN! Kinda like Rush, the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.
Love the thumbnail!😎
Good example of one member being heart and soul is Queensryche when DeGarmo left. Totally downgraded their music to the point of being bland.
Often the case with three piece bands of longevity. If a three piece band is around for long enough there is no room for dead weight by default.
Jim Martin!
Yep! Their talent is off the charts. You can't just replace that.
My favorite band of all time. Kings X is the most underrated band ever. Can't wait to hear the new album, Ty. You guys rock.
I like this because you know the meaning of the word underrated. Kings X should be so much bigger. I saw a comment earlier this week that said Brian May is underrated and I'm like, "What?!?!"
Senator Jaiz
Brian May is under rated -
when you consider the lexicon of British nobleman such as
King Arthur and William the conqueror 🙂
I agree!
They're my favorite live band for sure!
@@SenatorJaiz I would say that May is the most overrated guitarist ever.
20 minutes in he tells how his throat is ragged and he's tired... yet he still goes on to give you another hour of his time instead of cutting the interview short. What a great guy...

King’s X or Platypus…Ty is one of my favorite players.
Incredible tone, and an insightful person.
Thank you for listening @martianshoes! 🎉🔥😇
Glad you enjoyed it Sean, thx for listening...
Can’t quite put into words just how much king’s x means to me as a band. Ty has always been such a man after my my own heart. LOVE this guy’s playing and his personality
Thank you for listening Jeff Davis! 🎉🔥😇
New jersey . studio one newark.. seen kings x twice . giant band at a small place! met them all in person. after that , no autograph needed!
Right on @darrenbizzell3822, thanks for listening! 🎸💥🙌🏻
One of the greatest unsung guitarists ever.
KingsX fans know how great he is but in the wider guitar community he's not well known enough.
I love Ty and Kings X..I've seen them many times..Great band, very unique and talented...Ty will always be one of my fav guitar players, not just for being a fantastic player, but for his great attitude and friendly, modest personality...I'm looking forward to the new Kings X album...great interview...
Thanks for your kind words Doreen Livers and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫
When Ty talked about The Producers experience,it reminded me of one of my all time favorite concert tour experiences ever.
Very cool, thanks for sharing that, @chriszilar3657 🙌🏻 💥 🎉
Right on man, thanks for listening!
Right on man, Thank you for listening 🔥 🎶 🎸
1:00:48 You're welcome.
Thanks Bro!!!
Thank you!!!
THANKS!
thanks!!!
I just discovered King's X last month and I can't get enough of them.. My current favorite band
Right on man! Thank you for listening 🔥 🎶 🎸
King's X were the true Godfathers of grunge ... open tunings ... incredible atmospheres and tone, one of the best bands ever.
Most common “as low
As you go” tuning with standard
Instruments. I remember playing “Fat Bottom Girls” by Queen with Ty on our Les Pauls in his little apartment in Springfield that he shared
With my band mate.
Enjoyed the interview! And I'm so glad Ty is busy making more music as well as King's X....love, love, love their music!!
I LOVE Ty Tabor, first time I saw him in King’s X was in Nottingham, England 🏴 in 1988, 1989 on The Gretchen tour. A special atmosphere when they came on the stage that night.
Trapeze was huge in Texas! Great Choice!
Glad you enjoyed the interview @user-kj3fs3xp5w, and thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !
Definitely top 3 guitar player for me. His style and tone are incredible.
Right on @1848revolt, thanks for listening! 🎸💥🙌🏻
My first exposure to Kings X was seeing Over My Head on MTV. I was hooked for life after that. I saw them at Woodstock ‘94. Hands down they were the best band there IMO.
Ty is such a humble dude. I met him after a Kings X concert in 2001. Great band, great guys.
Craig, thanks for the interview, Ty is such a down to earth, humble person and such a big influence on me and many other musicians, He didn't mention it but 'King's-X' have one of the most loyal fan bases, and i'm proud to be part of it.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for listening Dagmar :-)
I was on the cover on the trapeze album, between the drum sticks.that pic was taken at the overton park shell in Memphis
Cool!
@@EveryoneLovesGuitar love your show man. you seem so easy to talk to. God bless
Alien Beans is one the best albums in my entire collection. I love the King's X, but Ty's solo stuff is phenomenal on its own.
His solo stuff is better than all the King's X stuff after Ear Candy.
This fills my heart with joy. Great interview!
What a humble and genuine guy. Great interview, thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ty's MOONFLOWER LANE is awesome!
Island Sea and Hollow Eyes are the highlights for me. Good Ty Tabor sounds like Good Kings X. Cheers! V
Love
your tone and playing aint half bad yourself Jon !!
Love/Hate were awesome - great guitar work! Hilarious opening line for your introduction!
Love/Hate came at the wrong time, such a great band the debut should have sold millions.
Don't f*ck with me
I REALLY REALLY hope they make a movie about King's X. Their story would make a great movie.
Met him once. Humble guy.
Great interview with a member of one of the greatest bands of all time....goes all the way back to out of the silent planet and Gretchen goes to Nebraska
Glad you enjoyed the interview @randallpphelpsify, and thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !
Favorite musicians to play with: Dug n Jerry.
That says a LOT! And that is why King's X is still around like fine wine. They love each other.
Saw them in Atlanta around the time they recorded Dogman. Ty forgot the second verse of "It's Love", the whole band stopped, he laughed, and then BAM they kicked right back into it. The most astounding display of musicianship I'd seen at the time.
Right on @BeauregardHall, thanks for listening! 🎸💥🙌🏻
My absolute favorite guitar player. He has the best riffs ive ever heard.
Love hearing the name-drop of The Producers! I got to open for them back when they had just released their biggest album - they were a great band.
Very cool, thanks for sharing that, Dave 🙌🏻 💥 🎉
Ty is such a great guy. He was kind enough to play on one of my records called "The Adventures of Dr Mumbai" a while back. A true gentleman.
Thank you for listening @billpitts9897! 🎉🔥😇
Thank you for listening @edwardx.winston5744! 🎉🔥😇
I've loved King's X for a long time, but never heard an interview before. Enjoyed this a lot. What great music from this man and his compadres.
Glad you enjoyed the interview @jeffmaddox4104, and thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !
I saw ty with Matthew when I was a kid. Love his journey.
Can't wait to see the film!
Thanks for the great interview even though I am late to the party 😁
Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
Brian, thanks for sharing and all the very best to you. Glad you enjoyed this and thanks for listening!
Thank you for listening hystat! 🎉🔥😇
Thanks James Taylor, Rock on! 🎸🙌🏻🔥🎶
love king x to bits.
Sweet interview dude! Ty is one of a kind :)
Thank you for listening @larslevinberget9558! 🎉🔥😇
Love King’s X and did a cover of Live In Your House. Ty is a wonderful songwriter and guitarist.
Bless you!
Thank you for listening Christopher Wilkerson! 🎉🔥😇 subscribe: elg.fun/subscribe
just ran across Ty Tabor's stuff on youtube music searching for a "Kings X station". then discovered his solo stuff, then youtubed him and found this. Very awesome guitar playing and writing. Again, the solo stuff is just amazing. its so difficult to find hard rock/metal music nowadays that is fresh and not pretentious or copycat of other well known guitarists. Also, I graduated from evangel TOO! and i didn't know that about him. anyway much respect! peace!
Right on Karl Werner, thanks for listening! 🎸💥🙌🏻
1:12:58 what a fortunate thing to be able to say. So many kids don't get encouragement from their parents.
Sad but true...
Kings X is probably my biggest musical influence when I started playing guitar, bass, and drums back in the early 90s. I started drop tuning my guitars because of them. I met and hung out with them after their show at the Whiskey in Hollywood back in 2003. Great guys.
Those first five albums were so great.
i grew up on you guys and i can't wait for your new music :)
Pay attention @20:38
applies to all ;musicians;
Difference between musicians and artist is feel(add soul and love/heart ye got massive difference)
Fools Face ("Fools tale" long back section of hair was famous)- The Mistakes - Sneak Preview (The Edge/King's X) - southwest Missouri early eighties!!!
thanks for listening!
One of the most underrated guitarists alive…. His sustain, to carry the rhythm into his solos without crazy amounts of looping is amazing…. I know Dug and Jerry play a major part with the back bone. But Ty just has that magic touch!!! 💯💯😊
Yes, I agree @Dave-dy7fs - thanks for listening 💥 🎶 🎸 !
Well said!
Ty is my favourite musician. Genius!!
What a sweet guy Ty is. Love the enthusiasm after a long career and he is still so motivated. Another great interview. Thanks Craig
Thanks bumzigan!
I went and checked out fools face and the misstakes on ty's word...I liked them...hard to find stuff. I can hear their influence in the sneak preview album before king's x. Loved the clean guitar and bass in the mix on those songs..good vocals too!!
Love Ty and his music (both with Kings X and solo, seen him many times live, really nice to see the personal side of him.
Ty is one of the best guitarist out here. King’s X has some of the baddest Rock riffs. 🤘
The Jughead record is fantastic... I had no idea it was buried... "paging willie mayes" off that album is amazing as well as a few other tracks ! I have shows with Kirk Henderson on guitar... somehow so many of those "sneak preview" shows have survived. And the back story history is one of the best I have ever heard, it backs up so many stories I know but this makes it totally solid.. nice job making Ty talk and talk and talk... wow.
Thank you for listening David ! 🎉🔥😇
My favorite all time band also. This was the tour that I discovered them, absolutely blew me away.
@@evilgerry123456789 Top shelf dudes too! They stick around until they met every one and signed everything. No ego at all
Right on Dave, thanks for listening man!
one of my favorite musicians, and one of my favorite bands.
Amazing to hear the story of Kings X from Ty. Ty,Doug and Jerry thank you so much for following your muse. Life is better with your music in it.
Thanks for listening
he does have a great voice. his original material is awesome and distinct. very rare, and underrated musician.
I’m late to the party, but very happy to listened to this interview. I’m very impressed with both of you guys. God bless you both!
Thanks for your kind words @danstringer7610 and glad you enjoyed this Dan, God Bless... 👍🏻🎸♫
Tys on my short list of favorite guitarist. Along with Alex Lifeson, Chris Poland, Jeff Beck and Brett Hines
Thank you for listening @pawlpoche8736! 🎉🔥😇
Great interview! Thought provoking questions and thoughtful answers in return. Thank you!
Thanks for your kind words @flee4767 and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫
Just discovered your channel and absolutely loved the questions you asked and the content!
Thanks for your kind words leftyshep and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫
I stumbled into this and am very happy to see Ty and hear that a new couple of albums are coming out... Would love to have Ty master some of songs we have.
That Producers story is so cool.I saw them once and I totally agree with Ty they were so amazingly awesome!
Thank you so so much for this. You said an interview with Ty was on the way. As ever, great interview and great insights from an extraordinary musician.
Thanks for your kind words Mark Nicholas and glad you enjoyed this 👍🏻🎸♫
Love Ty Tabor. Love Kings X.
The song MEDUSA
Mel Galley had a distinct guitar sound. Very good call Ty.
