I;m sure Aussies will remember him as a good captain coz he won matches for his country. But rest of the world will remember him as a cheap non-sportsmanship like character played unfairly to bring victories to his team. Just like Maradona in soccer, his cheap act of hand of God has always been there overshadowing his past career. U can cheat and pass an exam, but ppl know how u passed and they will never treat u as a winner.
I'm from India and I consider Ricky Ponting a role model. He's an inspiration in fact. He showed the world what true leadership was like, being the ultimate team man and taking as many hits that came his way for his team. An absolute legend of the game and an amazing person with the work he has done behind the scenes with his charity to support children with cancer. I think he gets a bad rap from lots of Indians because they still couldn't come to terms with how this man could single handedly shatter a billions dreams of winning a world cup. He was feared the world over by every team and every bowler and his sustained ranking as the number 1 batsman in both forms of the game certified that.

I was using them as examples but yes Tendulkar is the best batsman the game has produced since Bradman but I if you had to pick 4 players in the modern game who are greats for stats, I'd have to go for Sachin,Ponting,Kallis and Lara. Those 4 are the best batsman of the last decade. Behaviour wise I feel ponting has let himself down in certain cases but I'd like to think as he is one of my batting role models, that his temper and what he did was cause by his passion and wanting to win

i didnt tell that im a soft person..im a very short tempered person..and i admit it...i get really angry especially when people like you try to piss me off...and iam prepared to go to any extreme you want in terms of confrontation...its upto you...you can say a hi and have a chat and go or stay there mess things up, try to confront me verbally which is never going to happen anyway...my principle is to "be good against good people and tough against the tough ones...so its totally upto you..

Sachin is the worlds best batsman by far and I really respect his achievements and they should be recognised worldwide, Perhaps Sir Sachin?? Ponting,if he calmed down and just left the umps alone and didn't cause arguments then I would think he could get more respect interantionally.I'd say his record at home v india is good but he can't play spin in india haha
