We have 5 kids ages 9-27 and we have always had multiple guns in our home, including pistols. We NEVER even set them down for 2 seconds with ammo in them, let alone chambered! When we get done firing a weapon outside, we immediately remove all ammo, double-check the chamber, and put the gun on safety. PLUS we teach all of our children from toddlerhood, that guns are NEVER to be touched without permission. And that if they want to see one all they have to do is ask. That way there is never forbidden curiosity. They are allowed to be around them and handle them from the earliest age that they can do so, as long as we are helping them and of course, there is NEVER any ammo in them. This is how responsible parents raise children with guns in the home. This woman was so incredibly irresponsible!

But yours is a ‘wrong’ belief system.
(I was taught the same way😉)
From a young age I remember guns being around. When I was 10 I got my BB gun. At 13 a 22 but had to attend hunters safety before I could shoot it.
Probably 15 various long guns in the house and at 1 point 4 handguns. Nobody ever got shot or even injured with 1 of our guns.
      *56 yrs old and I still have all 10 fingers & 10 toes😂.
But with everyone trying to prohibit/ban guns, kids cannot be properly and safely educated on how to handle guns.
Go simpler tho. Growing up, I was shown the proper and safe use of all TOOLS. So to cut a log for firewood, I was shown how to use a sweep saw long before I was shown how to operate a chainsaw.
Or building a doghouse. Hand saws and even hand crank drill. Once I’d established that I could safely operate and respect the tools, I was shown safe operation of the corresponding power tools.
‘Baby proof’ the world and you end up with kids that hurt themselves the second you remove the bubble wrap.
