- Porsche unveil their brand new Le Mans 24 and WEC challenger, the 2019 911 RSR at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. The car was presented by Porsche legend Jorg Bermeister before being take up the hill by Le Mans winner Gianmaria Bruni #FOS

The previous RSR was the best sounding car in WEC in any class. Sounds like this will continue that, at least until the Hypercar class starts to fill up.

Miss the old sound. The side exhaust has really changed the sound of the flat six. I’m sure it’s advanced the car but we lost the screamer 😢
If I'm remembering right, the screaming straight pipe was an addition after the outgoing car debuted. There may still be hope they'll figure something out for this gen.
@@SAHOYT71013 I don't think so. The car isn't straight piped anymore because the build a larger diffuser and they most likely won't change that.
@@SAHOYT71013 you are right. they had to fix it because tire marbles git collected and ignited due to exhaust fumes. thats why they changed it. This seems to be fixed now, so no more straight pipe for the Porsche which is sad
If anything this new exhaust sounds more like a flat 6 than the old one. Flat 6’s weren’t really screamers until the 991 RSR

My favourite looking porsche, apart from the 917/30.
Keep telling myself it doesn't bother me, but I still cringe everytime i hear "Porsh". I'm about to start calling british cars Iaguar, Fauckshall and MackLahren.

yea that angle of the rear wheel being eaten by the rear wheel arch was hideous. from all other angles it was great

Why does side exit sound so different? In nascar and V8 supercars side exit sounds great, but this has made it 4 cylinder buzzy, did they change the cylinder firing order also?

Correction: engine is no longer at the back. Hasn't been for years now. They flipped it around so its in front of the rear axle, to redistribute weight and allow for the rear diffuser. Beautiful RSR, and check out that awesome rear wing!

I remember they were talking about a midengined version so they could fit a larger diffuser in the rear, but the announcer said they just moved the exhaust in front of the rear wheels.

well another 911 RSR, Quite different looking & a new sound & guessing not every one is happy but they must continue to develop more cars as that's there bread & butter..now with a 4.2litre motor capacity up from the 4.0 was wondering the other day that porsche will have to increase capacity & this is a great development -a big six now. no mention of hp but must be 600..very cool.
At first glance, when i saw wide flared side skirts, and rectangular intake at the front i thought it resembled a 993 gt1

Love it, though the wheels could fill the arches a little more fully. Why don't they put the bigger air intakes it has on the road turbos ? They fit so much better as I've always felt the turbo intakes seem too small and unbalanced.
Agree on the wheel arches! It must be due to some aerodynamic reason I guess? Looks wrong from a purely aesthetical perspective for sure.

Well Bergmeister is 43 so that's not why he is called mister 911. He is called mister 911 because he drives Porsches since 2000 and he has been important for the developing and testing ever since.

Why wouldn't you mention the biggest change in this 911, the fact that Porsche put the engine in the proper place, mid engine for best weight displacement....like the Cayman.
