This is the racing car supposed to sounds like.
Loud, scream, wail.
So, fun story; in 2019 I saved up and flew over, on my own, from London to the USA for the first time in my life, to go to the 2019 Petit Le Mans with some racecar buddies of mine. And as a lifelong Corvette Racing fan, I mostly went just so I could experience the C7R GTE in person before it was retired. But really, while that entire weekend was incredible, it also felt like I witnessed the final swansong of the GTE class altogether. It was also the last race ever for the Ford GTs, the BMW Thicc M8s would scale back and eventually be retired within two years, and it was also the very last race for this generation of 911 RSR.
The Porsche team ran the throwback Coca-Cola paintschemes for that weekend, and trust me, there is NOTHING in the world that sounds ANYTHING CLOSE to those howling monsters. I went so I could experience the rumbling roaring Corvette V8s in person. But the screaming Porsches mixed in with them? Just about the best sound I've ever experienced in my life. And these beasts were SO LOUD. Like, so ear-splittingly loud my ears were still ringing when I touched down back home 36 hours after the race. Just pure magic.
The 2010s should be remembered amongst other things as the glory era for GTE racing, and getting to experience it first hand is a memory I'll cherish forever.
I went to Le Mans 24 hours in 2017 when these RSRs first came out and I’m with you nothing sounds like it, I was expecting the V8 rumble of the Astons and the Corvettes but the 911 blew me away. So happy I got to hear it in person
Best sounding modern engine/exhaust in the world
Pagani Huayra R and Murray T50 would like to have a talk.
@@puciohenzap891 disagree
The 991.2 GT3R sounds even better, more the prototypical low pitch porsche engine sound
@@empii911 sure you can its a matzer of opinion but its pointless under a video exacly meant for people who like the sound of them ...
Brabham’s GT2 is the best undeniably
This was one of Porsche's greatest Le Mans ever.
Haha! That first car in an homage to the 1971 917/20 which was known as ‘the pink pig’ and ‘the truffle hound of Zuffenhausen’. It was a one-off which was basically a 917K with modified 917LH bodywork and was driven by Reinhold Joest and Willi Kauhsen. It was crashed during the night and was forced to retire.
This is the first time I’ve seen that distinctive livery since.
I really like the atmosphere of the night LE MANS.
At this point in the race I was watching at the exit of Mulsanne corner. I’d gone as far along the straight as you were allowed. All you could see was headlight, all you could hear was exhaust. An experience that will always live with me.
0:30 Man that roar is animal
Every second of this video is a treasure! Thank you very much for uploading the video material 🙏
As the Boxer engine roared in the RSR... 😍🤤
Sounds like it should . Just perfect, like symphony .
WEC Le Mans 2018 is the best sound ever, you literally can hear every car in TV and home screen of any electronic device.
Even the quiet sounds of Ferrari, BMW and Aston you still can hear it.
The exhaust sound of the RSR is amazing
I tried looping this all day last week. I seriously could not get tired of this car's soundtrack.
For a true visceral experience do this with a 917 sound track...
0:47 start the hunt
A proper sounding race car...
I got the chance to hear this engine on the the last WEC 6h race on Nürburgring in 2017. My ears drumhead was hammering till it hurts but it was worth it. Incredible Sound. Thanks for the upload ♥
I ❤ Porsche
Sound of the Century
AWESOME to experience a tiny bit again. This is my daily adrenalin fix.
Love the throw back “pink pig” paint scheme
I have an RSR... 1978.
Please let me drive it
Not all hero’s wear a cape
This is what racing cars are supposed to sound like
1:10 *Oreca 07* LMP2 stoles the show with the 9000rpm Gibson V8 and downshifting crackles
It Defently did not
They're both great in their own way. How spoiled were we in this era with such great choices of soundtrack.
Yes, I can fall asleep to magnificent engineered work of art 💯❤️Porsche, great run, can't wait to see it for myself, John
You race VW cars too ?
Thank you bro! You are a legend
The sound is sooo beautiful
I was in the grandstand for the 2018 race. The Porsches all 10+ of them I believe across lm and am were heard round the track. The only car that came close in sound was the mighty c7.r
Goosebump every time
the best sounding 911 race care ever
I will look back on this car with the rosiest tinted glasses❤️
Holly hell... The RSR definitely one of the nastiest car sounds I've ever heard.
Immernoch die beste Hommage aller zeiten in Le Mans...
I love Porsche! Great upload 😨
This video is m u s i c to my ears.
Thanks dawg.
The 991 RSR is (besides maybe the Carrera GT) the best sounding Porsche in history
THAT, is the ultimate sounding Porsche flat 6
still love the "SAU GER!!!" on the backwindow of the #92. SAU in german is pig as a reference to the design. GER for Germany. In Comibnation Sauger - short form of Saugmotor which is german for Natural Aspirated engine.
Great quality!!
Boa noite !!!!!

Those downshifts 😩🤤
Sensational
Good year 2018
These Porsche drivers are actually paid to do something they would gladly do for free.
Infact I'd even pay money to drive that beauty
Some of these are pro-am.
@@crabnix You'd probably need almost 7 figures for this race in GTE AM
I love the livery
dude with 1080p 50fps it looks like a super realistic video game
Meanwhile the Toyota passes you like you're riding a bike
Was lucky to see them in person. The acceleration alone is out of this world
shut up Porsche, theres people trying to sleep
How did you record it without commentary?
I didn’t record this. Re-uploaded the video as the OPs UA-cam account was deleted.

Jackie Chan have a car team? Wow
Never imagined I'd see a racing driver wearing glasses...
There’s a ton of drivers that have worn glasses over the years. Sunglasses, or regular prescription
@@fivefiftyfive8464 oh so it's legal to use a glasses? i've never knew it before
@@irfanpriambodo7736 yes. Most drivers choose to wear contacts though a number of high profile drivers wear glasses. Sergio Perez has done F1 sessions with glasses on and Sébastian Bourdais has worn glasses his entire career including during his tenure with Toro Rosso

Pink pig Porsche!!! Ah!!
isn't Le Mans kinda boring these days? There is almost no corners to overtake, it's all straight lines. And all cars are super high tech and capable.
You'd think! Never that simple and even the most capable race cars have limits or break randomly. I don't have much time to watch races these days but I always find time to watch at least a little of this one every year. Always something happening.
Jackie Chan have a car team? Wow
Sort of. David Cheng started DC Racing before David met Jackie and he became a co-owner of the team (though I recall hearing that he didn't fund the team but helped them find sponsors or something). The team went 1-2 in the LMP2 class at Le Mans in 2017 and was 2-3 overall (this was the year there was a solid chance of having no LMP1 on the overall podium as reliability problems plagued the whole class).
The team pulled back in 2020 due to COVID but were supposed to make a comeback in IMSA in 2023... which didn't happen and that's the last I've heard about the team.
