This episode I try my hand and sculpting a custom Cadaver Collector miniature inspired by the new Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes for Dungeons & Dragons. I use a mixutre of Wizkids and Reaper Bones minis, with random parts, Green Stuff, and Milliput to create my own unique monster mini.

I have to admit, I do miss the old music.
Link is broken fyi
Dude this is sick! You need to sculpt more monsters!
I plan to!
I agree, for a first attempt at mini sculpting it was real success. I would love to see more. I myself haven't tried such an involved or large sculpt, but I have some practice sculpting details and blending arm and weapon swaps into the original sculpts.
I made a mini by kit bashing tamiya stuff and mega blocks parts and toothpicks.
I really like how you were honest about just staring over so many times because you weren't happy with the results, and then you finally got to a point where you were satisfied.
You think it looks "fairly cool"? Dude, that is absolutely amazing! That is one of the best custom minis I have ever seen!
When you said that you drilled through the Umberhulk's crotch, i almost cried. Nothing, not even your worst enemy, deserves such torture
That looks fantastic! By the way, if you want a way to age and shade gold, use the flesh wash. For whatever reason the red pigments help darken gold recesses and help age it appropriately. Nonetheless, great build.
I've tried every shad of wash on gold/brass metalics....except for fleshshades. I'll have to try that. thanks for the tip!
using fleshwash on gold was a revelation for me too! i find the army painter quick shade works best
Digitigrade. That is the word for the backwards canted legs.
I will definitely not remember that! But thanks :)
It literally means "finger walker" if that's easier to remember. Most (if not actually all) animals with legs like that (cats, rabbits, etc.) have really long phalanges (toe bones) which basically form the whole bone structure for what appears to be their feet. If that doesn't make sense to imagine, they "walk on their tiptoes" for lack of a better explanation.
They're not backwards. It means they walk on their digits. Most four legged mammals walk on their toes except for bears.
The reason the legs appear backwards is that the animal is walking on its toes (its "digits"). This causes the ankle to be lifted up into the air, and often evolve into a sort of replacement knee.
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial also those feet are cloven, not “hoofen” (:
Jeremy, you really surprised me this time! You have exceeded all my expectations and you have shown skills that until now I had only imagined ... congratulations, excellent work!
Thanks man, I think people need to be unafraid to try new thing in crafting. New materials, new techniques, and get out of their comfort zone. It can be very surprising what you can accomplish.
Cadaver Collector is seriously one of my favorite monsters of all time. Bought a proxxon using your link, hope the commission gets to you! Thank you for the amazing content, you've inspired my gaming table a great deal.
good stuff, man. Agree about the book..its a gem!
Usually I'm just like "Ok, its a kobold, but with spells, great".....but this book is full of "what the shit? this is crazy"
SHADOWJUMP ftw
I really liked seeing you kitbash a mini, as an artist who is getting into mini painting and doesn't feel like a complete beginner I liked seeing how you worked with the materials and went with your instincts on the build. I also learned some things I was scared to experiment with myself and feel more confident getting into my own kitbashing :)
Excellent job! That really looks alien and weird, just like in the book. I need to get back to my own sculpting projects this weekend.
It came out less robotic and more crustacean than the book art, but still cool.
I'll be completely honest your videos are the whole reason I've gotten in to DnD. The secondary crafting hobbies that come along with the game its self is perfect! Thanks again for your well thought out and planed projects and videos.
Yea, the reality is that most people are lucky to gather once a month to actually play D&D, crafting and mini painting give you an excellent daily solitary hobby that keep you connected to D&D which is why I love it.
Builds like this would be great as a two'fer. This short format is great content for quick digestion. A long format showing that troubleshooting process can be a great aide for people looking to try something new. Great work!
This came out absolutely amazing! I love the way that you kit bashed this together, its really inspiring. Though when you started to drill through the mini and chop it up. I couldn't help but slightly cringe because I'd be too afraid to do that haha!
Being afraid of tools is dangerous.
You should not be afraid of tools, you should respect them, and be aware of their dangers, but not afraid. Being afraid is how you hurt yourself.
Black Magic Craft oh I ment slicing and dicing a mini like that haha. I'm fine with power tools. Just the fact im not used to doing kit bashing I just feels wrong to mess with the mini even if its to turn it into something cooler haha. But with this video ill give it a shot. I'll just be sure to buy two minis in case I mess up!
Ooooh, sorry thought you meant afraid of using the rotary tool!
Yea, don't be afraid to hack up a mini, just make sure its a mini you dont care about ruining :)
BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!!! BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!!!!
Excellent build!
+10 for the Python reference
+10 for the metal song
"But I'm not dead!"
"Yes he is!"
You have a really good eye and imagination! This is awesome how you transformed a bunch of plastic and trash into an artwork!
I know venturing into sculpting without any prior experience can be intimidating and you did a very good job. The figure turned out great!
Jesus, I didn't know how much a kit bash could make something so believable. Awesome job. Just bought a shirt.
Cracking sculpt. Just subbed. I'm an artist who loves to sculpt, sketch, paint, and build stuff out of clay. Mostly airdry,(which includes my homemade paper clay!). However, I love my Polymor clay also. I also have a collection of BJDs, with a few barbies, vintage dolls, and other dolls I collect for the sheer enjoyment of having that doll. I also do mods faceups, wigs, eyes and clothing. Love watching you work. I learn so much from you. Thankyou.
Absolutely spectacular job!!! Would love to see more of you doin g the mini creation!!
That was awesome! ! Very imaginative! !!! You really did a great job. I hope you make more because it was very interesting to see how you did this and the materials you used.
I plan to!
you have inspired me to continue on my sculpting journey! I watch your videos while I craft and always learn something new!
Really like the videos. I started collecting miniatures of all kinds in the late 80's and continued through the years as a hobby but never played any games with them. I just ordered the D&D 5e to start playing with my kids. Humble Bundle also has a D&D bundle with all kinds of companion book or adventures so we are going to give it a try. Thanks to you and the Table Top Crafting guys for all the info.
Hope this turned out for you! I love collecting, painting, storytelling, lore, and strategy so role-playing/wargaming was the perfect hobby for me. I sincerely hope you are having fun too.
I don't want to fight that at all...so 11/10, mission accomplished!! Great job!!
That looks really good, and you made it look relatively simple.
Takes the fear out of sculpting.
That is an impressive custom sculpted miniature; kudos! Glad you mentioned letting the Green Stuff set up for a bit; before you said it, I was going to include it in the comment.
Yea, like I said, I've got a lot to learn when it comes to greenstuff. I think I'll do some research before trying this again.
That is the sickest mini i have ever seen! Phenomenal work!
Super duper cool! I'm planning to run a cadaver collector in one of my games. It's going to be a slightly sci-fi-y setting, so I upped the CR and replaced its stench attack with a laser gun.
Brah!!! That's one of the sickest mini I've seen. Amazing work bud
That is incredibly wicked looking. I love it!
Im not really into fantasy stuff but I love this, it really came together quite well. I gotta say though, the runes imo really elevated it to an even higher level.
I loved the video. I'll definitely need to try my hand at making my favorite monster. I would love to see a tutorial on how to make a neolithid from Volos guide to monsters.
That came out looking amazing.
I was really unconvinced for 3/4 of the video about how it would end up but all of a sudden it came together - not sure why I doubted when I've seen your other builds. More of this type of modding please.
I feel like this could be said about most of the things I build. They often look kind of goofy until they get primed.
I really liked this and and your corpse flower build, would love to see more monster miniatures.
Again, totally wicked!!!!
I really like Tome of Foes. Going to borrow your idea on this build. Really love your channel bro!!!
I really love the cadaver collector. It's a fun monster.
Never really thought about attempting a custom mini like that. Awesome job!
I've always kind of wanted to, but never had the right reason...until now!
It came out looking pretty amazing.
That is so sick!!! Looks amazing dude! I'm really impressed! Sharing this with all my friends
share share share :)
Thanks for all the content man! Love all the builds.
I loved this. This gave me a few new ideas for my own stuff. Thank you
I've got to get the green stuff!Amazing job on the major mini of death!!😀👍
Im realy loving these custom figures based on pre excisting figures. This and the power ranger statue are Awsome! Giving me such good ideas.
That was a sweet build. Nicely done!
Wow! This thing is epic! Well done
This is awesome. I definitely love it. Very inspiring !
Keep up the good work.
Awesome work! This is similar to "kit bashing" the model building world. I highly recommend apoxie sculpt for sculpting. The white vers has 2-3hrs of working time so it starts soft like milliput and gradually hardens to take details like green stuff. Keep doin your thing building rad shit man!
You’ve done a great job well done!
Wow that looks amazing! Love you videos. Keep up the great work.
dude that is a fantastic effort. well done
Outstanding BMC, outstanding...
Your talent knows no bounds sir! Incredible work
My only talent is not being afraid to try stuff.
Great model. I'd really like to see you create a custom Chimera or even a Dracolich? Looking forward to seeing more custom made monsters, thanx for sharing.
Absolutely awesome as always!
Brother this was an AMAZING model. Makes me want to build one myself
Totally amazing. I have never seen such an extensive conversion before, Incredible. Looking forward to more. Would be nice to know why some gave it a thumbs down but they don't seem to have left a comment, v strange.
There is a small group of people that thumbs down everything I do, instantly, without watching. It happens to every youtuber.
This is sick dude, very good job!! I'd love to see move videos like this, especially a humanoid PC starting with an armiture. Keep up the solid content!
Don't think I'm quite ready to start from an armeture, but one day.
That is amazingly terrifying, great work!
Well done. That's a scary adversary. Glad you've made the jump to creating your own monsters. I think it's even more rewarding than crafting your own terrain, plus you get to think of cool stances for your monsters. As a bonus it's easier to put on a shelve in the home, since the terrain tends to be packed away until needed.
Been painting alot of miniatures lately, and your tip about warming them up with a heatgun is godsend.
It also helps with wash drying times, so might as well keep the heatgun handy while painting.
Great video, thanks:-)
Thanks. I'm very lucky that I have a dedicated game room so I can display all my builds, even terrain.
Black Magic Craft Yup, that's pretty much the definition of lucky right there:-)
It's on my wishlist, but it's not something I'm expecting anytime soon...
Very impressive result! Interested to see what you make next. 🍺💨
You’ve done it again! Bravo! Keep it up BMC, really enjoy these vids.
Thanks :)
Nice work. Try using some gloss-varnish on the eyes to make them pop a bit :)
Cheers,
Tristan.
you've made an amazing mini of an amazing monster, the only other mini i've seen for cadaver collectors was on that someone made that could be 3d printed but yours looks cooler.
Great video! Inspired me to dig through my box (OK...boxes) of Reaper Bones for minis I don't like so I can go crazy with the green stuff and bitz.
Yea, go for it, what's the harm in hacking up some left overs?
Very cool! Sweet look!
Thanks man
This is great. I might try it but with a junk rescue Cryx warjack at some point. I wonder if armor plates would be easier to form out of a flexible plastic sheet like a "for sale" sign or a folder for holding homework from school. For chain mail or scale mail though, I think you'd have to use Green Stuff and a textured press or rolling pin.
Mind = blown. That is amazing!
Awesome! Well done!
Very cool customisation work dude, looks pretty badass!
Thanks :)
This was so stinking cool!!! Nice work man!
Total length of video: 1337.
Coincidence? I think not! This was pure leet, Jeremy!
#planned
What's the significance?
@@TheBeelzboss 1337 is code for "leet" which is also shorthand for "elite".... Jeremy has Elite skills
Awesome project!
Awesome! It's cool that you're expanding your horizons. I plan on doing something along these lines: making a Gorax from the old made for TV Ewok Adventure movies in scale for Star Wars Legion. I have a 10 inch action figure I'm going to repose and sculpt over. It should be a fun custom scenario.
That would be a perfect beast to build.
Wow! well done!
Great kit bash!
Hi Jeremy, for sculpting use Miliput and green stuff in equal parts mixed together it's much easier to work with
I have the original prepainted version of the Cadaver Collector and I've just got to say yours looks better. Your one has a lot more character and disturbing. Fantastic job man.
The official one does not have nearly enough cadavers on it....does it even have one? or just a few skulls?
Black Magic Craft it has about 5 cadavers on in variety of skeletons and random dead bodies
Ah, cool, the only pic I could find online was very very small so it was hard to tell.
It's the same size of a feral troll it's a great mini and I know it's expensive to pick up these days. I was lucky enough to get it a a super low price. Your Cadaver Collector is great and the best thing about it you can make it any size or anyway you want. I proper love your version and I do think it's better then the prepainted one
You should definitely do a Cerberus!
You are a freaking crafting stud! That is badass!
Thanks :)
great build man !!
Another awesome build
Wow he is wicked and he does look Bad ass
Great build man.
Also a flesh golem is a good kit bash idea and you can use extra bits left from other kit bashes
Amazing stuff
Nice work... loved the finished product... might have to pick up that book! Green stuff can be frustrating... have you tried carving or sculpting the green stuff once it’s on the model? Sometimes I let it harden then I carve out further designs and details.
I thought it was awesome bravo very inspiring
You never cease to amaze.
Aw shucks.
I know this video is an older one, but I'd like to see what you'd come up with for a Loxodon Wizard. I haven't found one I really like yet, and could always use an extra bit of inspiration.
DUDE THATS SICK!
That turned out Bad Ass! Inspiring!
Genuine Frankenstein
It's aaaaaliiiiiiive!....well actually it's not.
That was so dope!
This is great, i wouldn't mind seeing you do more creatures
Super creative, This is a great video just to show that if you want it, make it!
That's the number one message I want viewers to take away from this video :)
I love this! Your editing is really good by the way.
Yea, I've been really trying up the quality in that department.
It shows man. It is really good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this vid bro 👌
For a dive Right in project this is pretty damned impressive. I also appreciate the kit bash, there aren't enough people doing kitbash videos in the world.
