    This episode I try my hand and sculpting a custom Cadaver Collector miniature inspired by the new Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes for Dungeons & Dragons. I use a mixutre of Wizkids and Reaper Bones minis, with random parts, Green Stuff, and Milliput to create my own unique monster mini.

      I agree, for a first attempt at mini sculpting it was real success. I would love to see more. I myself haven't tried such an involved or large sculpt, but I have some practice sculpting details and blending arm and weapon swaps into the original sculpts.

    That looks fantastic! By the way, if you want a way to age and shade gold, use the flesh wash. For whatever reason the red pigments help darken gold recesses and help age it appropriately. Nonetheless, great build.

      I will definitely not remember that! But thanks :)

    • @Stratplayer05
      @Stratplayer05 6 років тому +19

      It literally means "finger walker" if that's easier to remember. Most (if not actually all) animals with legs like that (cats, rabbits, etc.) have really long phalanges (toe bones) which basically form the whole bone structure for what appears to be their feet. If that doesn't make sense to imagine, they "walk on their tiptoes" for lack of a better explanation.

    • @19mychaellee71
      @19mychaellee71 4 роки тому +4

      They're not backwards. It means they walk on their digits. Most four legged mammals walk on their toes except for bears.

    • @cthulhufhtagn2483
      @cthulhufhtagn2483 4 роки тому +4

      The reason the legs appear backwards is that the animal is walking on its toes (its "digits"). This causes the ankle to be lifted up into the air, and often evolve into a sort of replacement knee.

    I really liked seeing you kitbash a mini, as an artist who is getting into mini painting and doesn't feel like a complete beginner I liked seeing how you worked with the materials and went with your instincts on the build. I also learned some things I was scared to experiment with myself and feel more confident getting into my own kitbashing :)

    I'll be completely honest your videos are the whole reason I've gotten in to DnD. The secondary crafting hobbies that come along with the game its self is perfect! Thanks again for your well thought out and planed projects and videos.

      Yea, the reality is that most people are lucky to gather once a month to actually play D&D, crafting and mini painting give you an excellent daily solitary hobby that keep you connected to D&D which is why I love it.

      Black Magic Craft oh I ment slicing and dicing a mini like that haha. I'm fine with power tools. I'll just be sure to buy two minis in case I mess up!

    Cracking sculpt. Just subbed. I'm an artist who loves to sculpt, sketch, paint, and build stuff out of clay. Mostly airdry,(which includes my homemade paper clay!). However, I love my Polymor clay also. I also have a collection of BJDs, with a few barbies, vintage dolls, and other dolls I collect for the sheer enjoyment of having that doll. I also do mods faceups, wigs, eyes and clothing. Love watching you work. I learn so much from you. Thankyou.

    Well done. That's a scary adversary. Glad you've made the jump to creating your own monsters. I think it's even more rewarding than crafting your own terrain, plus you get to think of cool stances for your monsters. As a bonus it's easier to put on a shelve in the home, since the terrain tends to be packed away until needed.
    Been painting alot of miniatures lately, and your tip about warming them up with a heatgun is godsend.
    It also helps with wash drying times, so might as well keep the heatgun handy while painting.

I wonder if armor plates would be easier to form out of a flexible plastic sheet like a "for sale" sign or a folder for holding homework from school. For chain mail or scale mail though, I think you'd have to use Green Stuff and a textured press or rolling pin.

    Hi Jeremy, for sculpting use Miliput and green stuff in equal parts mixed together it's much easier to work with

    I have the original prepainted version of the Cadaver Collector and I've just got to say yours looks better. Your one has a lot more character and disturbing. Fantastic job man.

      The official one does not have nearly enough cadavers on it....does it even have one? or just a few skulls?

      Black Magic Craft it has about 5 cadavers on in variety of skeletons and random dead bodies

      Ah, cool, the only pic I could find online was very very small so it was hard to tell.

      It's the same size of a feral troll it's a great mini and I know it's expensive to pick up these days. I was lucky enough to get it a a super low price. Your Cadaver Collector is great and the best thing about it you can make it any size or anyway you want. I proper love your version and I do think it's better then the prepainted one

    Also a flesh golem is a good kit bash idea and you can use extra bits left from other kit bashes

    Nice work... loved the finished product... might have to pick up that book! Green stuff can be frustrating... have you tried carving or sculpting the green stuff once it’s on the model? Sometimes I let it harden then I carve out further designs and details.

    I know this video is an older one, but I'd like to see what you'd come up with for a Loxodon Wizard. I haven't found one I really like yet, and could always use an extra bit of inspiration.

    For a dive Right in project this is pretty damned impressive. I also appreciate the kit bash, there aren't enough people doing kitbash videos in the world.
