I use ice water instead of just water from the tap...it kind of same idea as the ice cube except you know exactly how much water is going into the hummus and for those people who think this is strange, it DOES make it creamier!

After watching this months ago I have made one of these recipes weekly. All are unbelievably good! One word of warning on the red pepper hummus - I made it exactly as the recipe calls and found mine to be quite runny. It may have been from the size of my bell peppers (larger = more juice), so I would recommend not adding the water in the recipe until you see how thick it is without the water.
This is a minor warning. The major warning is the flavor is so amazing that you won’t be able to eat Sabra store bought hummus ever again.

I have a small theory. Some people are such traditionalists that they can’t imagine changing a recipe. For example , some people believe that it isn’t hummus (or falafels) if it doesn’t have chickpeas. I’ve seen a lot of comments of the like when I search for recipes for chickpea free stuff. I’m allergic to them so I had to research substitutions.

I love making my own hummus and have gotten creative with the recipe when I find my pantry empty of garbanzos. I've made hummus with canned blackeyed peas, canned limas, canned navy beans and all have turned out yummy. Rather than purchase or make tahini, I just throw 1/2 cup of toasted sesame seeds into the blender with the other ingredients. I also always add 1/2 to 1 tsp of cumin.

Research has linked hummus and its ingredients to a variety of impressive health benefits, including helping fight inflammation, improving blood sugar control, better digestive health, lower heart disease risk and weight loss.
Moreover, hummus is naturally free of common food allergens and irritants, such as gluten, nuts and dairy, which means it can be enjoyed by most people.

Love the video! A great trick for making your hummus extra creamy, that I recently learned, is to boil your pre-cooked or canned chickpeas with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda for 20 minutes and then drain and thoroughly rinse them off to get rid of any baking soda taste. This process breaks down the chickpea skins and helps you get an incredibly smooth hummus. Another trick, if you're not a big fan of the harshness of raw garlic, is to mince your garlic and soak it in your lemon juice for ten minutes before blending it with the other ingredients. This takes the edge off of raw garlic while still imparting a delicious garlicky taste.

I prefere it chunky in texture and use a manuell chopper for it but yeah, the queen of creamyness is absolutly using a tiny bit ice
