How come my white boy is not eating? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 OMG please have your parents in more often. They crack me up.
😂 they’re both really funny! Glad you enjoyed them!
Totally agree! I love them!
That was the best!!! I love her family!
They're so funny I agree bring them on more often!!
I second that suggestion!!!!
Made this amazing hummus and my husband hoovered 2/3rds of the bowl in one sitting, "Take this away! I can't stop - it's so good." Winner recipe.
Haha I'm so happy that you and your husband loved it!
😂
"It's fine as a snack if you don't have anything else" LMAO, then I smiled when she made her mom so happy. That's what taking the time to cook and prepare food really well is all about, bringing your family and friends together to share and enjoy the goodness, it's one of the great enjoyments of life and you don't have to be rich or exceptionally talented to do it, just some practice and love. Thank you for sharing your recipe and family. Now I'm going to prepare it and see if I can get a big smile from my mom too.
My 2 biggest tips for hummus, which I've been making for decades:
1) It's usually good to serve as-is, but a night in the fridge REALLY helps the flavor blend. You can always warm it up.
2) Try dipping white onion petals into it, using them as scoops. It really brings the tahini out.
Can you please write the recipe for me?
No it doesn't.
OMG white onion petals sound very keto friendly... lol -- I'm interested...
"How come my white boy is not eating?" - I felt that
LOL!
xD xD
I know right if the dude was black would she say it ? “How come my black boy not eating”
@@madmoiselle007 Stop coming and leaving your ugly comments on this beautiful video please thanks:))))
Haha
You can just tell how much her parents love her and everything she makes, this is such a wholesome video.
Yes, including 7:31 where she calls her son-in-law her "white boy". Isn't that just the most wholesome cutest thing ever? XD
There's family affection there for sure! Also Rainbow Plant Life's folks seemed a little skeptical as to how good the humus would be - and were open about that. I loved their response, discovering that it was actually pretty good!
Really? It's ok to say "white boy"?
except for the racism

I like that you taste test throughout making it and actually show that it’s not perfect just because you measured things out. Always taste it!
I loved this whole video. the part when your mum came up behind you and whispered about taking a photo, she reminded me of my mum who I lost during the lockdowns and it made me shed a tear. It was so lovely of you to test this out with your lovely family, cherish them as be with them as much as you can! Thank you for this wonderful recipe will deffo be trying this!
I agree! I realized I was smiling the whole time she were going from person to person. This is remarkable because I had just watched the news; things are so bad around the world for so many people. It breaks my heart. Her video brought relief and I thank her for sharing her family with us. I have outlived my loved ones; I watch UA-cam videos of other people to help me remember.
I lost my beloved Dad during the lockdowns in Australia, too. He was in another state, so they wouldn't let me visit him even though he was nearing death. Then he died.
@@elephantintheroom5678 So sorry to hear that...they truly are in a better place! Sending blessings of love and peace to you.
@@merk9569 I am so sorry that you have outlived your loved ones, the memories are real and when you think of them they will know it and feel it I promise you! A little trick. If you put your cooked chick peas in a bowl of water and rub them gently, the skins will come off no problem and rise to the surface of the water, making it super easy to ladle them out. So fast and easy ;)

I made this today finally after watching the video at least 10 times over the past year for its sheer entertainment value and it did not disappoint. Really lovely hummus. Thank you Nisha!
Do you soak the canned chickpeas ?
Umm...I’ll take a big bowl of that hummus plz. “Wasting too much time, let’s just taste the thing lol” 🤣 😬👌🏻

Lay ho ma! So glad to see you here too Wil! I love both of you guys
I’ve literally made your hummus recipe for the first time about 3 months ago and haven’t stopped making a fresh batch about every 10 days or so. I’ve also done the same recipe substituting black beans for the chickpeas along with roasted garlic and it’s amazing as well! My hubby and I LOVE this stuff! And also great as a spread on sandwiches instead of the same old boring condiments!
Black beans sounds lush, gonner try this weekend.
@@UKLeonie Roasting the garlic is key and totally worth the extra effort!
How long can you store this hummus for? Thanks!
@@Moni-wq1yt I’ve had it up to a month in the fridge and it’s still great!
What Tahini did you use?
I love how much your mother looks at you with such love and affection in this video. The love ❤more than the Hummus recipe- but it looks terrific!
I've been wanting to make this hummus since the recipe dropped, and I finally made it! It's so good! My food processor is small, so I definitely had to split the recipe then combine it in a bowl! It's still so worth it. Nisha's recipes never disappoint!
Hummus isn’t my favorite food either. I rarely consider eating it. I just made your recipe. I used ½ the cumin as I don’t like it. I used 1 clove of garlic. I bought some nan .
Oh my goodness. This was sooo delicious. It will be a staple at my parties and for my own lunches from now on. And it was so economical to boot
Soak your garlic in the neon juice fit 20 minutes .
Love that you said, “alternating recipes for your taste.” That’s what makes cooking fun. And it encourages healthy eating. Thank you for stating that! 🥰
Totally agree! Taste as you go and make it how you like it!
Yes, I agree. 🥳💖
Yes. Very respectful and absolutely the inclusive thing to say. Houmous is to die for. I also add a little ground coriander to taste as well as the cumin.

Thank you for making my day, my week and providing me with a recipe I am so happy to share with my family and my bigger family, as I live in a cohousing community with 24 other households where we share a meal 3 nights a week - YUM!

Thank you Nisha for your style of cooking and presenting it to us! I greatly appreciate all your words of wisdom, humour and delicious confidence. Your ease and pleasure of cooking inspires me to start trying new things for me and my son ☺️… thank you 😘
So I did the laziest thing ever. I hooked up my store bought hummus with all your flavors. Use dried parsley flakes and Added a splash of sesame oil for good measure. I didn't use the cutting board or the food processor but I did do your lemon zest garlic oil at the end. And it was amazing!!!!! So I can't wait to try this when I'm not so lazy and do it from scratch
Hi, I am lazy too. I find Biona jarred chickpeas make brilliant hummus without having to process them first. Though next time I might boil them in baking soda first.
Too funny! But great idea 😊
Amazing hummus. I can't stop making it.
Tip! Save those chickpea skins, toss them in some olive oil and spices, and bake in the oven. It makes an awesome crispy snack and cuts down on food waste.
less food waste... what about much bigger energy consumption
@@nikolaskocovska9058 i leave my oven burning almost 24/7 so all my food is done quickly.
@@xiinVenTor Unless you have a shop where you bake things often, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard
@@OrnateOwl a shop? No I mean at home. I make dinners and breakfast (bread) in the oven so I think it will cost more energy to keep switching on / off. Thats why its always on at 100 *C at minimum
If you use a counter convection toaster oven it uses over 20% less electricity plus it cooks faster so with the bean skins it would be quite fast and energy efficient. If you don’t want to use any energy you could dehydrate them fairly quickly on a tray inside your unheated oven
Your momma made this video EPIC!!! I have not giggled this much in a minute!! She is priceless! God Bless!! The hummus looks delicious!
I could not love this more!! Your channel is wonderful, as is your family! Keep the vids coming, you are doing a great job.
I just made this today and I was totally skeptical about the lemon pieces at the end because I assumed they would taste bitter but it totally turned the hummus so much better. I’m obsessed thank you so much!
Dump them in a bowl of cold tap water to cover 2” above chick peas. Stir with your hand, The skins will float to the top and you can skim them off or pour them off.
See above yes your system is brilliant but with 2 tbs of liquid from canned any kind of legume in a blender you can keep the skins and it is seriously like a cloud ....
Is this before or after you cook them. Canned or fresh?
Fresh Cooked, then cold water bursts skin free. Similar to freezing tomatoes, then running them (frozen) under warm water, when you take them out of the freezer. The skin comes off easy. Same goes for garlic freeze it, peal by rubbing gentle between fingers & thumb, skins fall off ( slicing them thin easier or make them into a paste after they thaw).
The one time I used canned, the skins pulled off easily when I squished them, between thumb & fingers.
@@regmountain2224 thank you

Your hummus has AMAZING flavors. I can not eat tahini so I substituted sunflower butter. As I LOVE lemon, I used extra and the finished product was wonderful.
Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your precious family. I dearly enjoyed seeing the interaction. You are truly blessed to have such a lovely relationship with them.

YES! finally seeing the best recipe for hummus. after living in the middle east (and asking every falafel shop how they make it) this is definitely done well, but I have one recommendation:
start with the lemon, garlic, salt and cumin in the food processor first. once this is very well blended you can put in some ice water (it becomes the texture of an amazing mayo dressing, then lastly, add the chickpeas. something special happens when you do it like this. you can even use a little of the aquafava (at the beginning). makes it even creamier. try it.
I followed your recipe, OMG sooooo good.

Love your mom! She is the comedian and your dad is such a good food critic!
"How come my white boy is not eating?"
Omg this is such a desi/SE Asian mom (in law) thing to say haha
lol yes! 😂
And any normal white boy would not be offended, It is just an invite to eat. With all the racial stuff at the moment, this is just honest verbalisation of "come eat with us and share."
Im a white gal and I though it was totally cute that she said it. It clearly comes from a place of affection. What a cool mom!
I thought that was what she said. My mum's family are Asians (my father is British) so I am Eurasian and I can tell you Asian's are a race so very underrated and misunderstood.
Asians do it best when it comes to a lot of things. I am proud of my Asian bloodline.
@@CaptainValian You're right. No one should be offended. However it did sound like a passive-aggressive poke at the daughter. I've heard similar comments from my own mother that(if you read between the lines) means "why didn't you marry a nice Jewish girl", and in this case the comment was likely a similar passive aggressive statement "why didn't you marry a nice Indian boy".
Definitely one of THE best hummus recipes, and we LOVED that you included your family in the video! The olive oil "dressing" at the end was spectacular!

I've been making hummus for a long time now, nearly every week and I always try some new things with it. This is by faaaaaaar the best hummus recipe on UA-cam, the quality of your videos is outstanding!!!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Made this yesterday. First time making hummus ever. Was lazy and soaked my dried chickpeas for two days and added a full lemon. It was fluffy and delicious. Nothing but compliments.
Hey Nisha,
Friend of mine recommended me the instant pot when I was searching for an rice cooker. I knew your channel from before but not the instant pot videos. Then I was searching for vegan instant pot recipes on UA-cam to convince myself to get an instant pot over a rice cooker and was positively surprised to see your channel pop up! Binged all the videos regarding that content. Then discovered you had an vegan instant pot cookbook which I instantly bought! Exactly what I was looking for! Oh you also kinda convinced me to see the utility and versatility and I finally add a food processor to my kitchen collection, admittedly a different model but I am very happy with it! Helps allot with vegan cooking total game changer IMO
So I made the hummus recipe for the second time, first time I did it without lemon juice becouse I had none and thought “mhe won’t make to much of a difference” , I was wrong VERY wrong! Just made it again with the juice of 1 whole lemon HOLY such a positive difference! Now I wonder what I missed all these years by not adding lemon juice to my other dishes!
Keep it coming, super good content!
Best wishes

I hate garlic.....lol I love Italian food but I still hate garlic😂😭😭😅
@@ovee5281 try make tasty food and put along with garlic and salt u may like it i used hate garlic too now i like cant live without garlic lol
me too i really love garlic
Garlic doesn't go well with hummus actually, Americans often use too much garlic and lemon and it tastes very weird, I'm speaking as a Lebanese that loves garlic and lemon. Hummus shouldn't taste like garlic and lemon, just a hint. Hummus needs more of a creamy tahini taste rather than lemon and garlic, if it tastes like garlic or lemon its usually tastes off its more to give it a flavor rather than to "taste like garlic/lemon). Of course to each their own.
Hummus is also not hummus without some good olive oil on top of it and some sumac or paprika on it, tastes so much better.
This hummus is insane!!! I tried and tested a bunch of recipes and this beats them all by far! SO dang good! Thank you 😍😍😍

Gotta try this! I absolutely love hummus, and always add cumin, garlic and lemon. I often add a small bunch of fresh dhania (cilantro/corriander) into the blender. Other times, I'll add a red pepper. This gives colour to the hummus, and a different flavour.
Just love your family humour and playful banter around the table! Thanks for sharing.

I made this yesterday and it is hands down the best hummus I've ever had! The topping of sautéed garlic and lemon rind is delicious, but for some it might be overkill. It's just as good to give the finished hummus a sprinkle of smoked paprika and chopped parsley. This is now my go-to hummus recipe!

I love that when you taste it you don't just say its amazing, you're honest, like,"hmm needs more salt, or lemon"

THIS IS THE BEST HUMMUS RECIPE EVER. Definitely didn't use as much lemon juice as I'm not a fan of a lot of it and it turned out SO GOOD. My sister and I used to eat store-bought hummus and it was only when we made our own using this recipe that I realized the stuff we used to buy was "meh" or "just decent."
