@Gerard Hopkins The motor of the mixer has the same power as a Classic Stand Mixer K 45SS. A Magic Mix is an awesome machine for food processing! It is the modern version of the company that created the first Cuisinarts back in 1972 and the later created Robot-Coupe. I have a Robot-Coupe RC 2100 that I have been using for over 35 years, still using the original work bowl and have upgraded with attachments. Juice extractor, citrus juicer, power strainer, expanded feed tube &10 disks , dough dome and blade, and a few other pieces to organize it all.

I have watched a few of the kitchenaid accessories videos and they all seem to take a lot of work and have lots of pieces, which over time probably get lost. I have my kitchenaid mixer but I don't think I would buy the accessories.

Her biggest problem is she has it on too low a speed, you can hear the motor lugging.. With carrots, alternate big and little ends down. I've had mine for 5 years and love it! I don't take near as long as she does to do things. Definitely pack peppers and other softer foods into shoot so they don't flop around.

Great review. I gave me the right information for decision making.
This attachment cannot handle soft vegetables.
It cannot handle hard vegetables too.
Conclusion: It is almost good for nothing. Except for mangling vegetables. 😁😁😁
I know I should not buy this.
And the wish of being able to dice vegetables by machine is still not found.

I have a stand alone processor too. I like that the thickness can be adjusted with this attachment. My stand alone only has 3 disks 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and 4mm. Too thin for what I would like. I also like that the food shoots out the bottom so I don’t have to stop and empty my stand alone bowl all the time. Mine doesn’t dice either and a stand alone machine that does all this is much more expensive than the attachment.

I love mine too! It is a huge time saver, especially when I am dicing garden veggies for canning. What used to take me hours now takes seconds. I think this reviewer is pushing too much into it at one time. I did one carrot. It was done in probably 5 seconds. Had the next ready to go. She is not reading the directions. It plainly states for smaller veggies, then use the smaller chute. Faster speeds, like 10 for hard veggies. Speed 4 for softer ones.

  • @voiceofreason6914
    @voiceofreason6914 5 років тому +12

I think shenis pushing too hard. The machine should be doing all the work. She is forcing it down....should just need slight pressure to push it down. Speed should be higher as well.

    • @russ5024
      @russ5024 5 років тому +2

The pressure exerted does affect the slicing thickness--like with the cucumber. I do not understand why she attempted to julienne bell peppers, using the disk, they just needed to be sliced again. It was a great demo showing the attachment in action and shoWws what you get. Your actual results will vary with your expertise and experience. With any machine there will be un-processed bits of food.

The way this attachment hangs out so far from the motor body and the downward force exerted on the end when food stuff is fed into the cutter I am afraid it would put a torque on the motor axle, which is detrimental to the motor. There should be a vertical support at the end to counter the downward force when veggie is being fed into the cutter. It is either that or the operator should support the attachment by pushing it upward to counter balance the downward force.
Thanks for the honest review. It is very helpful to see how it actually works. The julienne function does not appear to work to my expectation.

Thank you for this review. I have seen this attachment perform in other videos and it did a much better job and was fast and powerful. The difference was the size of the mixer, so I assume that a higher power mixer will work a tad better. The only reason I am even considering this product is for the dicing capability, which has performed well in all of the videos I have seen including yours. My Cuisinart stand alone food processor blows this thing out of the water in terms of shredding and slicing, but does not have dicing capability. I can get this for about $100 plus tax with discounts and coupons, but that is a lot to spend for just needing the dicing so I will have to think about it and see if there are other dicing options out there. If anyone has any recommendations on a product that dices, I would love to hear about them.

You should have alternated the carrots stacked in the feed tube being wide and narrow or just use the narrow feed tube. It would not have taken much more time to process one carrot at a time. Bell pepper pieces should have been sliced to give the strips you were seeking. The julienne disc is meant for beets, squash, carrots, & sweet potato. Great to see how the dicing upgrade works. Thank you for the review & demonstration.

It doesn’t seem to actually be a food processor. I have other attachments for my 5qt Kitchen Aid that slices, shreds, grates, etc. I’m looking for something that will work like the chopping/mixing function of a food processor. Her mini version is definitely not suitable for the strength needed with this and her pressure.with the harder veggies and the cheese. My other style of attachments are akin to a salad shooter style. The dicing disc seems to be the best out of everything.

She has the motor set on a lower setting and also she is just cramming food through it. It’s no difference than using a table saw and forcing wood through it. You burn the blade up and it becomes dull, with this you should let the processor do it at its own pace via the amount of speed you command it to.

I just bought this attachment second hand for a very good price, tried the julienne cutter first - a total disaster with all kind of different veggies :-((( came here to see reviews and saw not a single review where the julienne cutter performs decently.
And your review of all of the attachment is the best to be found on youtube by far !!!
You gave the julienne different tries and were even not over critical of it in the end ....
I also agree that the dicer is the best one of all the blades and accessories.
Had similar problems with the other blades just like you had including the size of the slices being too thick for the thinniest option.
My biggest criticism is in regard to the overall alignment of the attachment to the mixer: It is too heavy to be a stabile counterbalance forthe standard Artisan. It needs only a small additional weight or tipping on the attachment and the Artisan lifts up in the big.
Plus, pressing hard vegetables through the blades - even when done with highest caution and attention - makes the attachment slightly bent, which makes me worried each time that it might break off.
The book with the instructions is a total catastrophy and done by s.o. who seems to have not done any research on how manuals for electronics are usually done.
The case for the blades - however - is quite a master piece, very well designed to help with easy and quick organising and storing.
The blades themselves seem good quality, very sturdy and well made.
I have the feeling that there were different design teams involved in developing this attachment. The sum of their work coming together does not cut the cake.

I Love my mixer...just want to get even more out of it. This is the review I have been looking for. Not biased for or against the product. I saw this online and wanted one for Christmas...glad I did not get it because I am sure I would not have used it after the first time. I hope you have reviewed other Kitchenaid attachments so I can get a feel for them before I possibly make a mistake. Thank you!

I like the Pasta Roller and two cutters --- but I like making pasta noodles, spaghetti & lasagna. I do not have the pasta extruder and have doubts about it working well. If you like snow cones the ice shaver is fun to use. I like the ice cream freezer with the new improved dasher. I prefer the BeaterBlade over the flex-edge beater--it has better mixing-scraping action. The sifter/scale works better in the video and no where else! It does not remove lumps be the screen is too big! I do like the spiralizer for peeling and slicing as well as making veggie noodles. The sheet cutter I have no use for, too much is wasted. I have a great food processor so no use for the fresh prep attachment in my kitchen.

KA should have made a bowl to go with it with the correct height to alleviate issues with product safety that look obvious with this unit. Go get the real deal. Would be interesting to know the gear material nylon or metal, I don't see longevity with this unit forget about safety. Kitchen aid back to the drawing board. Would have been a perfect fit for the 1970's.

""u should get a stand alone processor" yep if that is what you want to use, but the advantage i see is the pass through nature of the unit which would allow for some big ass containers under it if you are processing a ton of pickles , and my mixer never leaves the counter anyway so i don't have to drag out a second appliance. looks like a labor saver to me.

For the julienne demo, the vegetables might have been better laying on horizontal in the tube resulting in longer strips more similar to julienne expected.

Here is a list of blenders I've reviewed, including two KitchenAids: ua-cam.com/play/PLzun5Kt3JnhPrmdJ1Hsq_-yGS4yVKUXJZ.html
I have reviewed milk frothers that were included with some coffee makers, not a milk frother alone.

It’s nit a chopper though. It has no S blade to chop, like a normal food processor has. I don’t know how they got away with calling this a food processor!

Hi! I've been binge watching your videos! It's really great to see a good appliance review. May I ask if you have heard of the gourmia power dicer and if you could do one! Been searching through your channel but don't seem to find it probably there's no video of it. Great job on all your videos! I love it!

I received this food processor as a gift. I won't complain about it because I didn't have to pay for it. This review was a great help to me and I was able to make Pesto by processing first then using my stand mixer to finish my pesto. You have a great voice for reviewing and great editing skills! The lighting is on point! :)

The only attachment I’ve chosen to get (years after buying my KitchenAid) and has for sure added value for me, is the shredder/slicer. It’s not as bulky as most of the other attachments and it’s definitely something I use quite a lot!

I purchased one of these and the lid would not stay latched so it would stop working every time--very annoying. Needless to say, I returned it. Don't waste your money. KitchenAid has problems with a lot of their food processors. The older models were much better and easier to clean. These new ones have so many parts and pieces that you may as well use a knife or grater because you don't save time after all the cleanup.

Load the hopper widest side down. It is obvious this attachment has its issues. Especially when the weight is offset.
