Watched this movie with my Dad in 1975 together with the war movies of those times like operation daybreak, midway, a bridge too far, etc. Miss you Dad.
For those who might be interested about the location where the movie was shot, it is the castle of Bruniquel, a village about 70 kms North-North-East from Toulouse in the South of France. It's a very interesting place and when you visit the castle you can easily understand why it was the perfect location for this movie which has become a Classic.

Right, I`ve seen this movie as a young boy with my parents together on a black and white screen. In East Germany. Now and in colour is it same terrifying. Great actors. But not all German where so wrong in this killing days. Also not all SS members. But to many.

It's more difficult with the SS though but I'm sure you are correct and not all were monsters. It is also undeniable they were brave, but honourable is much more difficult to say though.

One thing I always disliked in a lot of these movies is how the Germans are portrayed about not caring about their men when in reality , they had some of the best medics in the early part of the war .
But they really didn't. They had mobilized 21 mln of men to wermacht and ss, and by April 1945 there have been only teenagers and oldmen 65+ left. So where did these 21 mln disappear? You can watch a movie "Der Hauptmann" 2017. It explains a lot.
They indeed had some of the best medics in the early part of the war, and I know that more than anybody else : I'm French and my grandfather fought during the battle of France in may-june 1940 in one of the bloodiest battles of this campaign, the Inor wood, a fight so hard the Germans themselves called it "the Green Hell". My grandfather fought valiantly and was awarded the War Cross fot gallantry. A few days later, he was heavily wounded by an explosive bullet in the belly. Left for dead on the ground, he was saved by a German soldier who saw he was still alive. He took my grandfather on his back to the nearest field hospital where my grandfather was treated by the German doctors as if he was one of them. He was so well treated that, a few weeks later, he managed to escape from this hospital and never caught again until the liberation of France. But in the film, the action occurs in 1944, the things had already changed, the German medics weren't as good then
Saw this movie at the ABC Woodford Green with my late Dad back in the mid 70s, I was about 10 and loved war movies. I seem to remember it was overdubbed in English though!
An outstanding film, with the fury of vengeance burning brightly and full of strong emotions. There are still some great moments that you didn't include in this video, but thank you for making and sharing it. BTW, loved the first victim, very handsome

Are you sure it was not called old rifle ( Russian language English sub titles ) I just watched a complete diff film all different actions ,but exact same plot .Russian school teachers wife is rated and burned alive by the Germans who have taken over the Russian village ,and he turns into a one man army and kills them all .only diff is it was called the old rifle.
Cool. The gun may be old, but these war movies NEVER get old. All I can say to that poor soldier at 0:35 is "Oh well." Wish I knew what was said to the guy at 3:42 to make him fly off the handle like that. I'm guessing he was told "Your mother wears army boots. Combat life is not always bad though. Sometimes you run into an old flame like the dude at 5:40. Watching this clip as they emptied theirs was a pleasure.
Because the movie-makers made a mistake and in the days before videos, DVDs, downloads, pause etc etc no one probably noticed so it was left in. It's a controversial opinion but there you go 😁

That had broken her. 8 months later at the age of 44 she passed away. Some say suicide, some because of a heart attack. It is a shame she was a very talented and a really beautiful lady. RIP.

The massacre of the village of Oradour Sur Glane on June 10, 1944 by the SS Das Reich division, in central France. 642 inhabitants massacred, with women and children burned alive in the church. This village has never been rebuilt, and is today a memorial visited by thousands of people from all over the world.

Yes, my copy can be watched in the original French (with the Germans subtitled when they speak) or English dubbed. I hate dubbing normally!

The well was build long ago, and the plumbing was done much later.

The massacre of the village of Oradour Sur Glane on June 10, 1944 by the SS Das Reich division, in central France. 642 inhabitants massacred, with women and children burned alive in the church. This village has never been rebuilt, and is today a memorial visited by thousands of people from all over the world.
