- Victoria Wyndham remembers her co-star and acting partner of 16 years, Douglass Watson, at the 1989 Daytime Emmy Awards, held shortly after his passing. The clip ends with the footage of Douglass Watson accepting his second Daytime Emmy for his portrayal of Mackenzie Cory in 1981. Thanks to Eddie for providing this tribute, and all of the Mac and Rachel and the Corys scenes from 1979-1988 that I have posted here.

The fact that this lady never received an Emmy is a travesty. The volume and quality and consistency of her work was and remains utterly jaw-dropping.
right
Doesn't make any sense at all. The quality and talent was always on point.
Wow! She never won? Very sad!
I know and she was good even when Rachel wasn't a bitch anymore. I loved her.
I could not agree more. As her peers got older, they got hammier. But Victoria Wyndham gave consistent, disciplined, compelling performances, day in and day out. One of the best performers in the history of the genre.
Loved Rachel and Mac!
It's been 20 years and I STILL miss AW. Victoria and Douglass, a class act.
Yeah, my parents had ME watching soaps in the late 80's, because it was their appointment television. They'd curse me out for reprogramming the VCR from Bold and the Beautiful and Another World, to Duck Tales and Dennis the Menace!
we should all be so lucky to be remembered like this, probably the most humble and sincere speech I have ever heard. Victoria is a class act!
Wow. It has been now over 31 years since his passing and 21 for Another World. I have not seen this before, and my grief for him and the show is real.
I met Ms Wyndham in NYC years ago in the 1980's. I ran up to her while she was shopping for her son. I told her how much I loved her work. She was so sweet to me. I must have been about 19 or so.
That's neat. Beats that whole Lord and Taylor incident where a fan couldn't tell fact from fiction and tried to punch her while screaming "I hate you!"
I met Charles Keating (Carl Hutchins) in 1995. Such a gentleman and so humble!
I was a teenager when Another World was popular. My Mother use to have my sister and I watch this show for her whenever she couldn't be home to see it herself. There were no VCR, DVD Player back then. The ONLY part she wanted us to report on is when Rachel was trying to get Steve Frames attention from Alice. As a result of my sister and I waiting to see what Rachel was up to we got hooked on this Soap Opera. Then Rachel (Victoria Wyndham) went after Mac Cory. The events around Rachel, Steve Frame, Alice and Mac Cory is what kept me watching this show. When I left for College I was NOT the only one in the lounge trying to catch a glimpse of this show. Bless Them All.
Victoria Wyndham; what a class act! It's so disheartening that the Academy never honored her with an emmy. She could act circles around those woman on ABC. She is sorely missed from the world of Television.
People on AW had such special relationships. Almost everyone irl has nothing but positive things to say about their costars on the show(there were very few exceptions compared to other soaps). You could tell, when one of them passed away everyone else on the show got so choked up and emotional over it.
yea AW and GL was really nice
R.I.P. Douglass Watson😢
It’s 2024 and I remember this show and in 1975 I got married to my wonderful husband. He was stationed in ElPaso TX and I told him I would only go there if my “soaps” were shown there. Another World was one of them! I’m married to my high school sweetheart, it’s wonderful!(still)
Victoria and Douglas were amazing together and loved the show.
I loved another world. My favourite soap. Miss it
it was my favorite to
Wow, he would have been 100 this year! I grew up watching Another World
True Class!
I guess I'm crazy. But man oh man, I loved this guy. Nothing was the same after he left, nothing can fill the spot he occupied. After all these years, my heart still breaks. I guess I'm old and soft . when you have known the best its hard to settle. Miss you Doug
Beverlee McKinsey was more effective than he was. But Bev was a little temporary in her soap work by her own choosing. Still. Without Bev no soap was ever the same again. Without her the crime drama Hawaii Five-O was never the same again. Her performance on one ep (as a sexy crook named Jo) was the high point of the whole show. Bev was one in a trilliion.
The Emmys became all but meaningless a long time ago, sadly. I'm just glad we have the Internet and the memories of fans to keep these wonderful talents in the public eye.
I loved AW and watched up until the last episode in June of 99' Although it didn't have the ratings of the other soaps it had a loyal following.
right i loved Another World i Still watch it on youtube
I remember the soap opera "Another World" I was a little girl when it was on tv. I remember this show because my aunt Sue would have it on at her house when she babysat me a few times. Yes I have a pretty good memory.
You can never replace memories like another world. I watch the beginning of Mac and Rachel , celebrated the highs and suffered the lows of their love story. My mother and I were excited when Steven Frame was over so those two people to wake up and realize that they belong together. My mother died five months before Douglas Watson and it felt like mourning but this time with Victoria Wyndham and the cast of the show. After it went off the air, I've vowed to never watch NBC daytime line up never again. I never did. Another World deserved to have continued on instead of Passions which lasted 9 years on the air. AW was and still is the best.
+Jason Holloway Well said Jason.
@jason holloway You are so right. AW was the best soap ever. Love & peace to you.
Such a shock back then.
Classy Man!
Such a class act and excellent wonderful actress !!
Hello Victoria.... I'm sure you won't remember me.....I used to help you at Back Bay in New Canaan Ct. I always enjoyed your roles in the soaps!!! Keep on keepin' on!!! God Bless You and keep you!!!!👧
just got a new laptop and i have been binge watching aw ever since i got it!
I miss😭another world😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
May Corey rest in peace a very talented actor👍❤️❤️❤️
I can't imagine how any of the actors got through those funeral scenes, but it must have been especially hard for Victoria & Carmen.
Thanks for posting this clip!
my mom and everybody who watched this show cried about Douglass Watson's death
They paused the show for the next segment and as actors announced his death and gave tribute to him. It was very touching.
Don Pardo's glib intro is disrespectful.
Poor Victoria, you can tell her heart is breaking the whole time. I don't know how she got through that.
I know, right? I was like... Does he even know the reason she's coming out to speak?
Too bad the Daytime Emmys no longer recognize the great actors of the medium when they pass away (e.g. Larry Haines, Beverlee McKinsey, etc.)
The fact that they never gave Beverlee recognition AT ALL is PURE BULLSHIT.
@@marcelparker6755 It was kinda her own fault. She walked away from too many soaps rather than sticking with it.
💛⭐ 2019 💛⭐
No matter how much of his work as Mackenzie Cory ends up available, it won’t be enough. He’s that rare jewel that managed to be at least understandable while he believed his daughter over his wife, got so insecure over his wife having a career he had an affair over, and yet still came out as the sympathetic figure a while later (same wife, different circumstances).
What is odd is how completely different Mac No. #01 was.
I miss all of my friends on Another World!
Shut the music off!!
For real.
Very honest!!!😢
The first thing I ever saw Douglass Watson in was the Marlon Brando movie "Sayonara". He played a racist military man who was doing everything he could to stop marriages between Japanese women and American soldiers. It was a small part put he was real good.
Where is that first love scene for Cass and Frankie, Amy? I need to see it again, don't quite remember it. Please hurry post it. Hurry, please. Can't live without CWFF. I want more. Please, please gimme me more.
