Even after 19 years of not winning and finally breaking the streak, instead of using the rare moment to spotlight herself, the very first, second, third, fourth, fifth, final thing she did was repeatedly thank everyone else and even laugh at herself.

She’s an extraordinary woman. So humble and gracious. She could have gotten up on stage and said it’s about dang time (and would have had every right to do so). Instead, she didn’t make it about herself. At all. The perspective she shared was just incredible. That the gifts her children had made for her to make her feel better about not winning were even more important to her than the statue she was finally getting to hold in her hands. An amazing moving speech matched by a shocking standing ovation so rarely seen. Wow. Her speech was just amazing - the bomb. "Even those who didn't care for her began to feel sympathy towards her
because what was supposed to be an honor in being nominated had became a
      repeated slap in the face."
That's, so far, what the noms have been for Joey King-- she's had that award carrot dangled in front of her all four times this season (Emmy, Globe, Critics, SAG), and on the first three, she's had it whipped/whisked away by Michelle Williams and Fosse/Verdon. The good thing is, Joey has taken it in stride pretty much every time, and sooner or later, she'll get one (I hope they don't give it to Michelle and Fosse for all four on the SAGs).
That is not to say that Joey has been winless for any kind of award, though-- she has won a Young Artist for Ramona and Beezus, and a Kids Choice for The Kissing Booth, so surely there's precedent and impetus!

It was okay...they did that music thing to rush the winner off the stage year after year because the show would start running too long...it was endearing to watch her get the same treatment and then watch the audience demand they give her extra time to finish!

Susan Lucci's win at the daytime emmy's was not a daytime emmy moment it was a moment in history. Her winning and her amazing speech and the cheers and applause was huge - on par with the Oscars or any other award . You didn't need to watch her or know her show - this was truly a historic moment. You could tell the love for her from Oprah to her adoring husband to the fans and fellow professionals. I do agree her losing was a ratings bonanza - after she won the ratings plunged and now the daytime emmy's aren't even on tv and certainly not prime time. You need to separate a legendary character and actress. Both are worthy.
