  • Join me as I prep a useful notebook for this year’s gardening season. There are so many ways that garden-themed decorations and embellishments will continue to find their way into this notebook! We also see the return of the Weathergrams - a month earlier than expected!
I’m already writing madly in this journal, and it’s really helping me approach the growing season in a thoughtful, organized way - which makes everything so much more enjoyable!
Stuff I reference in this video:
How to make super-fun FrankenPage signatures: • SHAKE UP YOUR SIGNATUR...
    Meet the Weathergrams: • WEATHERGRAMS! A 100-ye...
Faux seed packets: • Let’s make seed packet...

If you’re looking for more junk journal ponderings…. Last summer, I made a limited-series podcast about all my deep thoughts regarding junk journaling. It’s free on the Spotify app! Search for “Ordinary Paper” or link here:
    podcasters.spotify.com/pod/da...
Note that in the first episode, I mention that I was doing a podcast because I didn’t think I had enough ideas for a UA-cam channel. Things (happily) went a different way, so ummm, never mind on that!

    Hello Anne👋
I absolutely love your gardening notebook. 🌿I agree with you. A notebook keeps "notes".
Your weather quote items are brilliant! I am going to hang several on my balcony. 🌞☁️🌬🌩 It is not often that an outdoor project works for me. This is perfect!❤
We are expecting a cold snap this weekend, but after that, we should be in the clear for more planting besides ice pansies.
Thank you for a beautiful project. The notebook is very inviting! It is perfect for your garden progress this year. I hope you keep us a little updated on how your flowers and herbs are doing in 2024.
    Thank you again, my friend.❤🤗🌺

Yes! Just the inspiration I needed to get out into the garden. AND to make a garden journal, great idea to keep a record of all we do out there! Thank you so much! Beautiful work, such creative ideas and of course I love your use of "trash"!

Not sure if I’ve commented here before or not. Love your ideas, the whimsical embellishments, so adorable. I watched this one today... just for the 36 min mark conversation. 😮 Saving the bits to add in AS YOU JOURNAL! Mind blown! 🤯 I watch so many crafters stuff their journals full, and forget they’re selling a lot of them. I want to write in mine. Then I make all the lovely pages, and get stumped on where to start? What if the page doesn’t go with my vibe for the day’s entry, I skip around. I’m sure to DATE the page, because now, it’s not chronological!?
It never occurred to me to have embellishments, tags and ephemera READY to decorate as I go!How embarrassing is that!? 🤭No worries about your calendar faux pas 😉 I was thinking wow! Time went quickly, I think I began watching your channel around that time frame. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing. 😂

Love your garden book! I reuse my plant markers as well. Also, I was so thrilled to hear you mention Le Guin! One of my fav books is The Left Hand of Darkness. We read it in college and the discussions that followed were some of the best from that course. Thanks for sharing your idea. Happy Gardening 😊

Oh, this makes me so happy, Susie! Yes, there are SO many reasons to love Ursula LeGuin! Of course she is a literary treasure here in Portland. What a broad and variety body of work she had, over so many years. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! (and for re-using your plant markers!)

    Hello Anne!
Love your garden notebook. What a great find for someone...finding the loose weathergram...I did a few when you did yours...but the squirrels started eating at them and they got bird poop and tree sap on them so I ALSO ironically pulled mine off the bushes a couple weeks ago...i just tossed em...lived the idea though...love yours...even though not extremely weathered...❤❤❤B

Thanks, Brian! I think I was super-lucky that mine didn't fall prey to bird poop, but I admit I wiped them down with a water/vinegar solution before I ModPodged!

Even without Minecraft inspiration, as a 7 year old I used to make what I called "special concoctions", putting little bits of old tea leaves, bits of spices my mother might allow me, a bit of toothpaste, adding water - always it been too much water, so going out to the sand box to try and find a little vein of "silver sand" to add, and then adding too much sand and eventually winding up (somehow, every time! so frustrating!) with somewhat fragrant mud. Thanks for the memories!

Ok. The controversial commentary maybe killed the first text? It wasn’t controversial to me. Oh well.
I lost what I said about your Botanical Notes Journal. ❤. The topper is great. Some great pieces came together very nicely. Wow!
I saved plant tags for years. They crumbled mostly and became trash then I wondered why keep them anyway. Now I know one way to remember them.
My maternal grandmother had red geraniums and gave me a pot of them when I was seven. I had them off and on over the years I always liked them and loved her very much. I had a huge pot of them some years back. Since I moved I’ve just had empty pots. My beautiful shrimp plant froze a couple years ago. Shrimp plants have always been beautiful and and in memory of my grandmother. I need to get with getting plants again and make a Notes Journal. 😂 and with Frankenstein-paper. See, it corrected me!! You know what I typed first! And I love the stitching on this NOTES Journal.
❤. All great ideas! Nicely done!! ❤
“Mitch” and “Frankenstein”!!! Oi vey!! Have to read my comment over on fabric scraps to understand Mitch. 😂😂😂
Gotta give you some kind of … puzzle … to my texts, right? 😂😂❤

How strange on disappearing text, I certainly haven't deleted anything of yours! Tech glitch, probably. Not Mitch, just Glitch. Hahah. Loved your memories about garden flowers. Such memories we treasure - I appreciate you sharing yours. Thanks as always!

@@annekenlon there are automatic deletions if someone puts a link directly into a comment. I do not know if YT made that standard bc some people link some really bad stuff. I had said something about the origination of plastics. That’s about as controversial as I got. AI tracks and manages …. I thought maybe it was even the mention of the YT channel name - I’ve got to be creative if and when I mention stuff about other channels. Typically don’t but now and then just gotta. 😉

@@annekenlon and I’m sure “the worst” is yet to come. Not far off. (Revelation 13) unless a person is where Daniel 7; John 3 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:3 I think it extends - and others - Yep. I am a believer in Christ. And see lots of stuff going on day-by-day which reads out of the Old and New Testaments. I’ll “leave it there” and not “preach’ but just say. ❤️

@@annekenlonI missed this half of your comment. Thank you. I have a pic of grandma’s flower area. It wasn’t too nice when I was there and the treehouse in behind it had fallen long ago. Her flower beds were in brick edging along 3 sides, like a pocket! Ha ha. It was weedy and I would pull weeds for her against the odds. That was a long long time ago. I google map searched for her house some years back - she was the original owner of a few acres and the house. Her husband had died in WWI (tuberculosis - the name no one wanted to utter for shame. What a shame that was.). She had chickens and such back in those days. Now, where was I going with this? I have completely forgotten. You tagged a pocket of memories there huh? I’m just 😊. She meant a whole lot to me. Okay. Whatever I was going to say, it hasn’t returned. Later. ❤😂
Three sides of a large concrete porch (uncovered). Oh, yeah, I saw her house on google maps and was upset bc it was all different and it was HER house not theirs. And this was probably 10 years back. You’d think I would be more adult about it. She was a rock for me in shifty situations of my life. We laughed and played dominoes, cooked and made pralines. Mmmm. Now I know why she didn’t like stirring those candies as they hardened. Arthur-itis! And no will power to not eat them all! 😂❤. Oh you get stories out of me here! ❤ I should go back to my blogging!!
