  • How do you add delightful, unusual surprises to your journals, notebooks, and folios? A simple circle or image cut-out can become a super-fun pop-up, and it’s WAY easier than you may have imagined! Join me as I show you two simple ways to do it.
    Also in this video:
“When’s My Birthday?” by Julie Fogliano and Christian Robinson was such great source material for this project, and I was so lucky to find this worn-out copy that was headed to the shredder. If you were as captivated by it as I was, here’s the Amazon link! (But I’d advise letting your little ones enjoy it in its original form long before you take your scissors to it!)

Hello Anne! What an intriguing new idea to add to journal making. I love the pop-ups. As a retired elementary teacher, I truly appreciate the artwork from the little reader. I think even picking up children's books at thrift stores to use the artwork and photographs in is such fun. I did a little Journal that featured the Winnie the Pooh characters throughout when I reclaimed the artwork from a book that was falling apart. I was able to use primary colors for pages to make the images stand out and totally loved it. I passed it along to a friend that had a new baby boy so that she could do a little journaling about his journey into the world and she could add photos. It could be little brag books for grandmas that could be easily carried in a purse. You did such an amazing job teaching everyone the mechanics of making these pop-ups. The one with the rose is so adorable. I could also see turning one of these little folios into a Christmas gift card holder putting a gift card in each pocket with the sentiment added to the top as the pop-up. Yes, I also come from card making background. I'm sort of in the Christmas in July card making mode currently and thought I would make a few of the gift card ideas for a card swap that I am involved in. The swap won't actually happen until October, so I have lots of time to create.😊 ❤Thanks for the inspiration as always.

Thank you, Marcia! Yes, we spend a lot of time talking about math and geometry with our little grandson. He just loves math - more so than I did as a youngster, but I love it now!

As someone who was memorably bad at solid geometry many decades ago, your careful instructions and the VERY cool result are so wonderfully appreciated. It really is amazing! 🥰

Oh, Judy, you have me chuckling. I must admit, I also had memories of my high school geometry teacher, Mr. Hutton, as I was doing this. Hope you try the technique - with Beethoven in the background, of course!
