    Oh yea -- I can see me there retired. Been searching for over a year world wide for an ideal low cost good weather destination and this appears to be it. I'd prefer the 'easy living' as you put it. I'm old and get $1500 / mo. SS and I hear many expats live there comfortably on almost half that in Siem Reap ! Several there only get $900 and they report being quite content. -- My thinking is to purchase a 3 wheel Bajaj Tuk Tuk for personal transportation. Perfect for hauling 'stuff' and keeping the rain and sun off of you as well as exploring the area. Rode motorcycles many miles and these look like fun ! -- From what I can tell this place really is nearly impossible to beat factoring visa ease and cost over 55 ? -- I really appreciate the confirmation of my research from your perspective. I'll prefer to die there a 'happy camper' not missing winters in the US !

      It is a very good place, and $1500 is more than enough, but one thing to consider is healthcare. Healthcare in Cambodia still has a long way to go, so definitely invest in a plan that can take you to bangkok if needed. Let us know if you'd like to work with us for the retirement, and best of luck in your journey 🙏🏻

    I kind of like Siem Reap .
    Nice, clean, less traffic, nightlife, and cheaper.
    Can't beat that!

      As long as you have income from overseas it's great but if you need to work in the local economy or own a business Phnom Penh is better. Otherwise, SR is definitely the spot.

      @rebornabroad  9 місяців тому +2

      It's got an extremely low cost of living. The downside would be healthcare, but Thailand is nearby, and many insurance companies will airlift to Bangkok. They have a large airport they just finished, so its becoming much easier to move around from SR as well.

      yes health care is always a big consideration .. particularly for older people .. im a just turned 59 year old lifetime health nut .. no gut on this toned 5x a week workout man who doesn't smoke or drink .. but one never knows .. no guarantees .. so yes health care is definitely something to strongly consider .. i appreciate your candor in being honest about not only the upsides of Cambodia

      It depends on the place and time of the year. The one I used to recommend that was like $15 a night isn't around after covid but for clients who want to stay long-term we use my partner in Saigon she can find under market rentals

    I don't know if I would refer to Siem Reap as a "small town" with its 1 million + people. I would agree that is a very easygoing, slower paced, setting than many places. We absolutely loved our time there when we visited in 2022, and definitely will be back at some point on down the road.

    • @rebornabroad
      @rebornabroad  6 місяців тому

      It's funny you think Siem Reap has a million people, lol 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 245k population. Pretty far from a million but, hey believe what you like. The provinces population is over a million, not the city, hahaha 🤣😅😂😂🤣😅🤣😂 that's funny. I assume you know the difference between a province and a city????

    • @rebornabroad
      @rebornabroad  9 місяців тому

      I can help with that if that's something you'd like to do. Many people have the guest house dream in Siem Reap. Many do not succeed. Very long slow season, but if you can make it work. You'll be living a very good life. Most expats stay in PP because of year round economy

    Hi. As far as Cambodia goes I only know Phnom Penh. Could you explain a little about what you mean when you say that Siem Reap is "nicer" than PP? One thing about PP that sucks is the million tuk tuks spewing pollution. And, it's soooo dusty!

    • @rebornabroad
      @rebornabroad  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey 👋 we have a consulting service if your thinking of relocating to Southeast Asia, you can reach me on the fan page in the description below. As for the question on siem reap. It's smaller, and it's the face Cambodia wants the world to see. So it's cleaner, better infrastructure and small population. It's also much cheaper. That being said, you can't really make any money in the local economy. PP, you can make money year-round, so if you don't need to work or do business SR is better if you need to earn money it's PP.

    During the day, people are out to see the temples and in the evening they are back in the town. This is when they are out to eat and enjoy the rest of their evening.
