If you’re going to spend a few months there….much better to rent an apartment. Mine was $150 a month.. for a nice clean apartment with cross circulation between windows, air conditioning which I never turned on. Nice fan..which I did use. Wifi, etc. $150 a month works out to about $5 per day. And I can get clean apartments there for even cheaper. $100 per month. I would never stay in a $14 a day hotel. That’s three or four times what I was paying.
@@RetireandGo Where abouts in Thailand? In Chiang Mai ten years ago, I stayed at the Malin Residence. About $160 a month. But I could have also stayed at much cheaper places. In Bangkok I got the cheapest hotel room I could find, not far from Khao San Road. But I was in Bangkok for only four days. Not for months like in Chiang Mai and Siem Reap. Otherwise I would have rented an apartment.
@@RetireandGo My $150 a month apartment in Siem Reap had both a fan and also airconditioning. Each apartment in the building had their own electric meter. I simply never turned my airconditioning on, and never watched TV. So my electric bill was extremely low. I only used a couple of lights, and a fan. (Prices can be haggled also) I’d never stay in a hotel if I had the choice.
I'm a vet with benefits but I had no idea I was covered anywhere in the world until you said that. And how do you keep the pounds off? I'm asking because when you eat you really eat. 3-4 dishes everytime?!?!
First, you have ambulance and ER service covered world wide Second , if you are moving to a foreign country, you can make a local provider your physician
Oh yes they can be rented Make sure you have the triple A international license ok? It is accepted in most Asia countries Double check of course haha I just walk myself or use tuk tuks The walking mostly for exercise You like to rent a motorcycle when you travel? It’s fun for sure !

Good video. I find the TukTuk prices you quote of $5 US is pretty high compared to the other prices in general. I know in the Philippines I pay under a dollar, usually 30 cents for most places in to town.
You are probably asking actual costs for services? I live in a city of 600,000 in Indonesia. If I go see a specialist I pay them the equivalent of $12 cash for the visit. No paperwork or bills. A catscan cost me $125. Had to have emergency rectal surgery… not a planned event! Everything including three nights in hospital with private room, tests, medicine, doctor visits and surgery costs was less than $1400. I had a nurse come to my home every day to clean and change my wound site. Guess what he cost me? $6.25 cash each day that I needed him. It’s incredible how affordable healthcare is here just paying cash as you need it. The risk of course is a major health event like a car accident or cancer etc. But in USA I would pay medical, premiums and out of pocket charges that amounted to easily over $15,000 each year and I NEVER USED THE SERVICES. 😮. Just like throwing cash onto the street paying huge amounts and never getting any VALUE in return for that cash. Now, I only pay cash when it’s needed and I always feel like it was a reasonable charge for the service. The doctors can speak English, they are highly educated. 12 bucks to see a specialist? In Indonesia you can also qualify for a govt insurance plan that you pay for IF you become a permanent resident (not a citizen, just an equivalent of a green card holder). I now pay just over $9 a month on auto debit to give me the highest level of coverage available (private hospital room). Trust me, the VIP coverage means I get seen before other citizens who have a lower tier of coverage. It’s a no-brainer for catastrophic events.
Second point.why are you paying 5 dollars for tuks...its a dollar a ride around the city?...also push bike rental is so cheap and easy its S.R. is flat
Do the Bed test ie is it hard, medium soft, no use telling us how cheap it is if the bed is like granite, Do you get freebies or discounts by mentioning businesses in your videos? Just comes across a bit Corny.

Interesting! These are new to me
I hope to retire in Cambodia couple years.
You are planning well!
It’s a good retirement location
The French quarter of Siem Reap has low cost long term apartments to rent
I am a veteran and do not know of this benefit. Do you have more information or a link to submit these forms? Thank you .
Which ones ? The VA overseas medical benefits?
Could you share your health insurance provider please mate? The price you quoted is cheaper than others I have found in Cambodia.
Yes of course
Check out the description of the video
There is a link
@@RetireandGo oh thank you. I did check already but I'm heavily vision impared and it's hard to see sometimes on my phone. Thank you for your time mate :)
Do many people speak English? What about special diets, like vegan? Are there options like that there?
I have no problem in Asia or Latin America
Smile
Speak basic words
Aloha. I know I can apply the visa in Cambodia upon arrival. Can they take the photo for the visa there at the same time. Or I have to bring an extra passport size of picture with me? And do you know the cost to apply the visa in Cambodia. The good are yummy. Thanks for the good informative video. Aloha!
Great question
Go to your local mail box store
Get 4 to 8 passport photos taken
Travel with them always
What kind of international health insurance is $100 per month
Travel insurance
It’s for emergencies when overseas
There is a link in the description of my newest video that will help explain better :-)
Can you tell me who you use for health insurance?
Google the top five travel health insurance companies that cover Southeast Asia
They all offer about the same plan
It’s $100 a month for great coverage
does medicare or medical, whatever it is for old people, are they covered overseas?
This is a good question
In the Philippines I think they are
Please research the Philippines ok?
If you’re going to spend a few months there….much better to rent an apartment. Mine was $150 a month.. for a nice clean apartment with cross circulation between windows, air conditioning which I never turned on. Nice fan..which I did use. Wifi, etc.
$150 a month works out to about $5 per day. And I can get clean apartments there for even cheaper. $100 per month.
I would never stay in a $14 a day hotel. That’s three or four times what I was paying.
Wow! That is an incredible price
I saw some $300 rooms in Thailand
Fan rooms
Same idea ?
(Prices can be haggled also)
I’d never stay in a hotel if I had the choice.
garden park hotel ?
Yes it’s the first place I stayed
I would say the lion hotel I stayed at is the best location
Check out my Cambodia videos to find the lion hotel
I'm a vet with benefits but I had no idea I was covered anywhere in the world until you said that. And how do you keep the pounds off? I'm asking because when you eat you really eat. 3-4 dishes everytime?!?!
First, you have ambulance and ER service covered world wide
Second , if you are moving to a foreign country, you can make a local provider your physician
Great video, can foreigner buy or rent motorcycle in Cambodia?thanks
Oh yes they can be rented
Make sure you have the triple A international license ok?
It is accepted in most Asia countries
Double check of course haha
I just walk myself or use tuk tuks
The walking mostly for exercise
You like to rent a motorcycle when you travel? It’s fun for sure !
@@RetireandGo I was in Cambodia few years ago , for sure that Cambodia it is not as fun as Thailand maybe now has changed ,do you know ? Has More restaurants things to do ?
You retire here in Siem Reap?
Not permanent
I’m here for 30 days to check the price and living
I will then check out other countries :-)
How long do you stay in Cambodia? And what kind of visa do you get?
I use only the arrival visa
I stayed a little under 30 days
Hey, Malaysia was 90 ! Boom !
Do you like to extend? Or just use the arrival visas ?
@@RetireandGo I will go to Cambodia in a few weeks. I’d like to stay for two months. I’m wondering how easy it is to extend the visa in Cambodia
Csn you get veggie smoothies for $1 there like you did in Malaysia or just Fruit???
Cambodia has low cost fruit yes !
Good video. I find the TukTuk prices you quote of $5 US is pretty high compared to the other prices in general. I know in the Philippines I pay under a dollar, usually 30 cents for most places in to town.
He's paying too much
$1
Yeah true
The all day price was cheap
I eventually got my trips to 3
You *know* how to live!
It’s available to everyone
Get out of the west
It’s time to enjoy the life you earned
WHAT IS THE COST OF HEALTH CARE?
I’m paying $100 a month for great coverage
I get dental done in Thailand though
I’m doing a video in that later this year
You are probably asking actual costs for services?
Second point.why are you paying 5 dollars for tuks...its a dollar a ride around the city?...also push bike rental is so cheap and easy its S.R. is flat
True! Cheaper rides!
You are a good looking man .
Thank you so much
I’m trying different looks haha
How was the nightlife?
Pub street has everything
Prices were good
Check it out !
Do you live in Siem reap?
I was in Siem Reap but I’m a nomad traveler with just one backpack full time :-)
$5 Tuk Tuk is over paying.
Yeah I agree
You think 3 is better?
🖤🖤
Big hearts right back at ya !
Just had a coffee, Americano in Orlando...6.28USD
Lunch bbq place pushing 40USD...tipping is out of control
WOW
Had a friend buy a coffee at LAX. USD12!. He ordered a triple shot admittedly, but still.
I agree
Tipping is crazy right now
I am just eating light and cheap as I travel
You can determine tip.
Living in the US is a flippin' joke. everything is overpriced
True
In retirement I was not going to pay 2500 for rent
25 for a hamburger meal
Nope
I’m gone and not looking back
Do the Bed test ie is it hard, medium soft, no use telling us how cheap it is if the bed is like granite, Do you get freebies or discounts by mentioning businesses in your videos? Just comes across a bit Corny.
No freebies
Just enjoying travel
Luciernaga
Yes haha
Food is cheap in Cambodia, butt, when you're making $100 a month, $4 is expensive.
Yes that’s true
