Thanks for the tip on the water shoes, that will be really helpful when I go. I've never been to Volcano Bay, but I keep seeing the entrance to the park when I stay at Aventura, and that's only fueled my excitement to go to the park for the first time. 😊
If it is a tube or raft slide, aquacoaster, or either of the rivers (lazy or crazy) you can keep your water shoes on! Only need to take them off for drop slides and body slides. Same goes for goggles.

We've been down to Universal quite a bit and have never gone to Volcano Bay. Definitely going to be something we have to do soon. Looks awesome.

Yes, there are little spots to put them at the entrance of the ride!
