    Yessss, I love Calla Lilies (Zantedeschia spp.)! These are some of the coolest plants with arrow shaped foliage and lovely flute shaped flowers.
    They are also one of the fastest and easiest to grow bulbs. In this video I outline everything you need to know about calla lilies to get your bulbs to create beautiful growth and flowers as quickly as possible.
    By planting a few Calla Lily Bulbs together you can easily grow enough flowers to use in Bouquets, have flowering plants all around your patio, or even grow them directly in your garden beds.
    If you have any questions please leave them in the comments section and I will answer them! #callalily #zantedeschia #callas

    Thank you Devin. I have been a loyal Roberta's customer for almost 10 years or more. Love, love, love your plant collections. Moved to a new house and i am starting all over with my landsacping. I planted my calla lilies in the ground; My sister-in-law planted hers in the pot. We are seeing sprouts now. Looking forward to endless display of colors in my yard. Zone 9.

      I have an enormous amount of Calla bulbs, they multiply like crazy! My recommendation is that when it starts getting cold in the Fall (below 10C/50F), cut off the green stems and toss em in your backyard or someplace, they decompose fast, dig up the bulbs and cut off any white roots sprouting from the bulb. Place the bulbs in a box and put it in a dark area indoors with the lid unsealed (don't tape it shut or place them in plastic bags, just put in a box with some ventilation you'll be fine, need to let moisture out). By early March of the following year they will automatically start sprouting right within the box for planting again!

      @@UnsaltedCashew38 Hi, do you plant them deep like Devin does, or more shallowly? I'm confused because I've seen it done both ways and I don't know which is correct. I live in the high desert area of southern California where it gets to freezing (or below) in the winter and up over 100F in the summer. I can plant them where they will get morning sun and afternoon shade. Thank you for any help.

    • @UnsaltedCashew38
      @UnsaltedCashew38 2 роки тому +1

      @@valeriestevens5250 Are you planting them in pots or in the ground? I find that their stems do get long and then start learning over and then you need to use stalking sticks to tie them. 4 inches deep should be good. 1-2 inches would be too shallow.
      When they are just bulbs I plant them in small pots 1-2 inches deep, when they get 4-5 inches tall I transplant them into something bigger.
      I keep them in my driveway and they get full sun with some shade in evening, if its too hot then just check soil and water accordingly. Don't over-water Calla's, if they start to rot and get slimy, there is no saving the plant. If leaves are turning yellow / brown you'll know its drying out.
      I didn't know it gets to freezing in California, thought you can just leave them in the ground.

      @@pattymiller6696 With Calla's I've learned you have to be careful not to make the water muddy or too wet, the bulb will start rotting and then you can't save the plant even if it dries up. I lost my first $20 Calla like that before I knew about buying bulbs.
      Water them 1-2 times a week max when soil seems dry. Bulbs just need a drizzle of water only. You can water more as the plant grows larger. They grow very fast!
      Every plant needs different watering. Geraniums and Dahlia are happy with frequent watering but not Callas.

    Lots of videos on the care of calla lilies but no one has been able to answer my question. Why are not my calla lilies flowering? Started my bulbs indoors around April May they've been sitting outside since the anime getting half a day's worth of sun but still no flowers. One bulb is from 2 years ago the five other bulbs is from last year. Could it be that it takes a couple years before they bloom? One neat thing that I discovered was last fall I hated to take them out of the pot so I could put mums in. I broke off some of the green leaves and stuck them in a vase of water which lasted all winter long. You can do this as long as you still have roots on them.

      Hi Di. Couple of questions: how deeply did you plant the bulbs? If planted too deeply they may have difficulty flowering. You said you’ve grown these bulbs before, are you using the same soil as previous seasons, or fertilizing? They need new soil each year for nutrients

    • @di4085
