Hello everyone, This time I made resin geode coasters and I only used different shades of purple. I'm also combining different brands to see how they interact. Let me know what you think of my purple resin geode coasters. I will include the link to my coaster playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PLWqX7R3JwkuMyLPALwMjBsPvlZE3hXHUG.html

Beautiful 💙
Really enjoyed this video , it’s something I’m thinking of making for fun .just wondered how much resin you used roughly for 4 , so that I know how much to order volume wise xx
Hi Petra! I always wonder if I get the same effect if I just use mica powders and the white or do I HAVE to use alcohol ink to get this effect?? :) Beautiful coasters by the way!! 🤗
“Hopefully I also have a nice backside” oh don’t we all wish that 😌😭 but lovely video I want to try these and geode resin paintings
Hahahaha, Lol, I never know what to say, backside, bottomside, hahaha.

Hi, Petra! New subscriber and clicked all notifications, shared and like. (You're welcome!) AND I went to your Etsy shop and purchased four mica powders from your shop! Cannot wait to get them! Then I went to molds and shapes and bought several molds. However, I forgot all about the discount codes in my excitement! :( boo hoo Anyways, I've been painting for 30 years now, and I am OLD now, so I also have many hand afflictions, including rheumatoid arthritis. But I MUST keep creating art! Therefore, I have been experimenting on art I CAN do....I started looking for resin art videos and how to's and I came across your channel. I must say, so far, it is THE BEST ONE ON UA-cam!! GOOD JOB! I appreciate you sharing very much. Your work is what I would like to aspire to. New Fan, New Subscriber, New Lover of Resin ART!
Hey....DO you think you could do some videos on shaping resin? You might have some, idk yet, but I will look....in case you have. if you have NOT, PLEASE DO!! I think they are also awesome!
Hi Karen, thank you so much for subscribing to my channel. I appreciate it a lot. I hope you will enjoy my video's. Also thank you for purchasing some of my mica pigments I hope you will like them a lot. Today (monday) all the post offices are closed, tomorrow I will ship your package. The geode mold is amazing and of a very good quality. You will like it for sure. I don't have a discount code for the mold and on my Etsy shop I have a discount code (SAVE10) of 10% discount if you order above 55 USD. I'm sorry for you that you have medical problems. I think you can do this kind of Art with your hands. I don't think it will give you problems with your hands. So nice of you to say that you think my channel is great. If you mean by shaping resin, making a bowl then yes, I'm already working on a video of making a resin bowl.
They're beautiful Petra :)

Thank you so much for your nice compliment Pumpki's Nail Station ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀
I did the coasters with my shades of purple they look pretty cool tho however I feel that the different shades of colors fused together and aren't very distinctive but still waiting for them to cure to take them out of the mold.thank you so much for the awesome videos❤👍
If your resin is to thinn then the colors will blend more together, maybe that's the problem. Nice to hear that you enjoy my video's Dola.
GORGEOUS! 😍😍
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Cathii and for watching my video. I appreciate it a lot.
Thanks for all the links!!
Thank you for watching my video Mary Ruth. I appreciate it a lot. ❤😀
Amazing! I wanted to recreate the geode look, so I will definitely try this!
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Arietta. I appreciate it a lot.
Oh my goodness! First thing I thought was Mini Galaxy's! So, so, so, beautiful! So does that mean the resitint violet vigour was heavier so it fell to the bottom, or did the white push it there?
Thank you so much Melissa for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. I think I didn't use enough white to sink through all the colors and the colors blended to much together. Normaly an ink is not heavier then a paste. For sure I will try it again.

Me a newbie. I love it. Awesome work. Question: the liquid gold is clean up with water? Or paint thinner? Thanks, debs from Texas
Thank you so much for your nice compliment D C ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 You can clean it with alcohol.
I really love your work!. Just beautiful! I have a couple of questions and I would be very grateful if you could help. 1. I was wondering how you avoid the tiny air bubbles around the edges of the coasters… I don’t dare to use the torch as it could destroy the mold. And 2. how do you seal the gold around the edge. Do you put another coat of resin, or varnish??? Thank you!
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Blue Bird ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 To prevent air bubbles has a lot to do with the kind of resin you are using. If you use a thinner resin then you don't have a lot of air bubbles. A thinner resin has a great air release. I also never use a torch. I always use a heat gun. I seal the gold with another layer of heat resistant resin.
@@petrajongbloed4425 thank you Petra. Very kind of you to give me this info! Very helpful for a beginner like me! 🌷and thank you for your amazing videos.
To get rid of air bubbles I use my embossing heat gun for the bubbles on the top of the resin.
Then for the sides of the coasters, I use a silicone pointy tool, it doesn't mark the mold, but it's gentle enough to get rid of any bubbles that's round the edges.
For the sides of the coasters, I've got a gold pen, but I've also used some clear varnish & my gold powder. They both are OK, I'm still learning how to do the edges, but I always practice on a resin piece that I'm not bothered about.
Very awesome I. Just starting out my question is after every paint pour do you add resin with the mica powder or resin and hardener with acrylic paint or resin and hardener with gold flakes
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Harley ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 I color my resin with mica pigments, ink and pigment paste. Sometimes I also use mica flakes or glitter in resin to give it some sparkle.
Thanks for the tip on the alcohol + pigment, didn't know, will try!
Turned out beautiful even if the glitter ate your backside! ♥ Would be interested cutting it half to see if there are circles :D
Thank you so much Orsi Dirda for your nice compliment again. I appreciate it a lot. I can't cut these in half, because they are sold.
So you use a bit of alcohol with mica powders is that correct? L💜Ve the purple❣️
Hi Petra, beautiful work! I am looking in the description but can't find the link to golden paint you used for the edges
Hi Tatiana, thank you so much for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. In this video I used the Testors enamel paint, but I like the Lefranc & Bourgeois Gilding Liquid much better. The link of the Testors is in the description box, but I wil also include the link of the second one. www.gerstaecker.nl/Lefranc-Bourgeois-Guilding-Liquid-vloeibare-vergulding.html
These are absolutely gorgeous! I’m going to look if you have an Instagram page ❤️ the resin you use, you mentioned it’s an art resin, do you then add a heat resistant resin on top? I’ve been making resin jewellery but I’ve just started with coasters, I’m confused about making it heat resistant as I read the heat resistant resins can’t be used with inks/mica/glitter
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Vicky. I appreciate it a lot. I do have an instagram page. You can find the link in the description box of the video. No, I don't add a heat resistant layer on top. The resin I'm using is heat resistant up to 80 degrees. I always let the coasters dry for a month before I use them and then I don't have a problem with dents or sticking. In my resin I add inks, mica pigment, glitter, pigment pastes etc.
These came out gorgeous! 😍🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you so much Scarlett for your nice compliment. I hope you and Carrie are feeling a little bit better and that everything will be oke. Sending you much love, hugs and positive vibes.
Petra Jongbloed thank you my friend. We are taking it one day at a time. Just trying daily to rewatch and connect back with our specialist surgeon so that I may get personal clarification to questions I need to ask and receive answers to. Plus, the fact COVID-19 is still important but no one is hearing it, because of all the rioting, killing of innocent people, some caused by riots, fires, looting, etc. it’s very scary and getting so dangerous. I feel so saddened and so scared. 🙏🏻🙏🏻😭
❤😘
If you want the back to be similar to the front you will have to pour concentric circles, a problem since the resin is self leveling.
No, I don't have a problem that both sides are looking different. But thank you so much for your suggestion trippleaaaaa. I appreciate it a lot.
Was the second pour resin or just color? New, learning, gathering information before I attempt any resin project! Thanks! ❤
It’s very beautiful! I couldn’t find such liquid leaf anywhere! Where can i find this ?
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Balkees Jaluta ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 You can buy the liquid leaf on Amazon.
I wonder if done in varying shades of black if it would look like a galaxy.
Yes, that's a great idea Victoria, but I would also use some interference colors to creat the nice opal/galaxy look.
Please could you send me the name & colour name of the purple gold pigment paste??
They're absolutely beautiful!!!!

Very nice, but my question is, are you putting color directly or you mix them with risen??
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Samia ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 I mix mica powders, pigment paste and ink into the resin.
Wow - that's a lot of colors. Is it good to always start with clear color resin? ...or does that matter.
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Rob I ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 For these coasters I used clear first, because then the next color on top will spread much easier to the sides. If you don't use clear resin first the color will stick a little bit on the bottom of the silicone mold.
Thank you, Petra.
May I ask you what’s the viscosity your resin is ? Thank you! ❤ gorges work 🎉
Thank you, Petra. This tutorial is all so helpful and the design is stunning! How much resin in total do you think you mixed up to complete the four coasters? I'm having difficulty working out how much I need :)
Thank you so much Christie for your nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot. I use 560 gram and then the coaster are 1 cm thick.
Love them xxx
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Fiona. I appreciate it a lot.
I love these so much! I tried doing my own version with shades of green, using 2 of your mica pigments (lemon grass and Christmas - so beautiful btw!), but my dark green colour sunk to the bottom, and the 2 mica pigments blurred together, when I was pouring i didn't have the separate rings like you do. Now my coaster have cured, the dark green in on the bottom, and the mica pigments have mixed together on the top.... Where did I go wrong?!
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Emma. I appreciate it a lot. I don't know which resin you are using, but if your resin is to thinn then the colors will blend together to much. I'm using a medium viscosity resin and I don't have that problem. What you can do is mix your colors and let them set for a few minutes. The resin will get thicker and then the color will not blend that much. So nice to hear that you like my mica pigments. Thank you so much for buying them.
I love the colour of these coasters, like you I prefer the top such depth to the layers. Do you keep the coasters for four weeks before you sell them so they are fully cured ? How do you store your finished coasters while they finish curing ? Many thanks x
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Chris. I appreciate it a lot. No, I sell them, but I always add instruction in the package for how long the coasters need to dry before use. I store them flat on a shelve.
Petra Jongbloed Do you include instructions on how to care for the resin pieces ? Xx
Yes, I do add instruction how to use my resin pieces. Also how to clean them and other instructions.
Hi, I like the interaction of shades of purple. I can't find the description of the liquid leaf you used in the end for the Golden edges. Can you please share what product / brand you used for the liquid leaf?
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Salwa ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 For the edges I used Testors Enamel Paint. I will include the link. www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAC0IPP/?ref=idea_lv_dp_ov_d&tag=aiponsite-20&linkCode=ic6&ascsubtag=amzn1.ideas.13PO0BIDWP0NB

Where do
I start?
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Irina ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 You can find all the website links of the materials I used in the description box below the video.
This is so beautiful! But did you say it takes over a month to cure?
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Nneka ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 Yes, the total curing process will take a month.
@@petrajongbloed4425 oh wow. I thought resin would take a maximum of 48hours. Do you know why it takes so long?
@@nnekamyrie7337 drying time of the the resin I'm using is 24 hours, but to use them as a coaster it needs the full month of curing. Otherwise your hot cup of coffee will stick to the coaster.
Hello,
Very elegant and nice!!!
May I ask you question, I make coasters filling with pressed flowers, but I need to know if I make a second coat of resin after the first coat cured 24 hours or 72 hours? Am I still able to make several coats after completely cured?
Keep nice work on!!!
Thank you so much for your nice compliment ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 Yes, you can add more layers. . If you add them after 24 hours or when they are totaly cured, then you need to sand the surface and clean it with alcohol.
@@petrajongbloed4425 Many thanks for your help.
Now if I’m making the coasters for the coaster holder would I fill the costed mold all the way up? These are stunning💙
Thank you so much Beth for your nice compliment. Yes, if I made the coasters for the coaster holder I would fill it all the way to the top. Then the coaster would fit perfectly in the holder.
Petra Jongbloed thank you for replying! I’m purchasing the coaster mold & holder mold soon and was making sure 🦋
Those are absolutely beautiful! The different shades of purple worked so beautifully together. How much resin did you mix in total for those four molds? I always think that I am mixing up way too much resin and usually a.m. LOL
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Diana ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 In total I made 600 gram of resin.
I always have little molds ready for my left overs, that way I don’t waste anything
Prachtig my favorite colour

lovely colors and the video:) I have started you tube recently and leaning a lot from your videos:) I will def try this and I subscribe:)
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Shwetha Bharathi and for subscribing to my channel. I appreciate it a lot.
Is there a way to seal the edges after you paint them, so the paint can’t be scratched? If so, what product?
Yes, you can add an clear layer of resin on top or you can add a thin layer of polyurethane gloss varnish on the edges.
How long are you waiting between adding next colour? Also do you use heat gun between each colour adding? Thanks
I do not wait in between pouring the colors. Yes, I do use the heatgun to remove air bubbles.
