    I've done a couple of your tutorials now, and as a new crochet-er, I've really admired how you hold your yarn in your left hand. I usually use my first finger to hold tension & after awhile my hand feels tired. Your hold looks so natural & comfortable. How do you keep the tension in your yarn?

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm delighted to hear that you've been enjoying my tutorials😊❤
      Holding your tension and getting hand cramps is a very common problem for beginners.
      The more you crochet, the more your hand will get used to holding the yarn and maintaining tension. As you gain experience, your hands will find a more comfortable and efficient position.

Nice to hear that you have benefited from my video tutorial and have used it to create a bag.🙂 I would recommend that you take the inside measurements of the bag and cut some solid fabric according to the measurements with seam allowance included. If you made your square following my tutorial, it's likely around 4 (10 centimeters) wide and tall. Hi i love this and i was wondering if blocking the squares is necessary for the bad?

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  23 дні тому

      Hi there! 🥰I'm glad you love the project! Blocking can help to give your squares a more polished and even look, especially if they tend to curl or if you want them to all be the same size. It's not strictly necessary, but it can make a big difference in the final appearance of your bag. If you're new to blocking, there are various methods you can try, such as wet blocking or steam blocking. Feel free to ask if you need any tips or guidance on how to block your squares effectively!

    I love this pattern and great work! I have just realised I have been crocheting the sqaures without the ch 1 spaces and I don't want to have to start again. Would it still turn out right if I didn't do the sc into the ch 1 spaces on the top border of the bag and instead the stitches totalled up to 112 instead of 136? Just a little bit unsure. Thank you!

      Thank you so much🥰 It's great to hear that you love the pattern! Don't worry too much if you've made a small adjustment. If you've been crocheting the squares without the chain 1 spaces, it might affect the overall size and shape slightly, but it shouldn't drastically alter the appearance of the finished bag.😊

    Hi! Amazing tutorial. I'm at the part where I'm doing the rows on top. I'm brand new at crocheting so maybe I'm confused but looking at the slip stitch you did after completing the first row (24:45) it adds an extra stitch into that row? Does that mean each row will have one extra stitch from the row below it?

    Hi! Thank you so much for this tutorial. This is my first crochet project ever so sorry if this is a silly question - but how do you weave in the ends with this specific design? Thank you 🌸

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  Місяць тому

      Congratulations on starting your first crochet project! Weaving in ends is an important step to ensure your work stays secure and looks neat. Here's how you can weave in ends for the daisy granny square tote bag:
      Thread the yarn tail onto a yarn needle: Cut a length of yarn from your project, leaving a tail of about 4-6 inches.
      Weave in the tail on the wrong side: Turn your work to the wrong side (the side that won't be visible when you're using the tote bag).
      Insert the yarn needle under the stitches: Thread the yarn needle through the stitches on the back of your work, going back and forth for a few stitches. Make sure to weave in the tail in different directions to secure it.
      Trim the excess yarn: Once you're confident that the tail is securely woven in, trim any excess yarn close to your work, being careful not to cut the stitches.
      Repeat for other ends: Repeat this process for any other yarn ends you have from joining squares or changing colors.
      By weaving in the ends in this way, you'll ensure that your tote bag looks neat and the ends won't unravel with use.
      If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask! Happy crocheting and enjoy making your daisy granny square tote bag! 🌼🧶

    Love the pattern and idea of a bag looks great, I have had several attempts but my wool splits and my square doesn’t look like the tutorial, the stitches seems loose, I’ve tried a smaller book, but there is no way, if I make a bag it would keep its shape, I would have to line with a natural tote bag or similar, any advice would be gratefully received. By the way I am using the same yarn as used in video.

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  3 місяці тому

      I'm glad you like the pattern and concept of the bag! 😊It sounds like you're putting in a lot of effort despite the challenges. Dealing with splitting yarn and loose stitches can be frustrating, but don't worry, there are ways to troubleshoot these issues.
      Firstly, make sure you're using the appropriate hook size for the yarn you're using. If the hook is too small, it can cause the yarn to split and the stitches to be tight. Conversely, if the hook is too large, it can lead to loose stitches.
      Secondly, pay attention to your tension while crocheting. Try to maintain a consistent tension throughout your work. This might take some practice, but it can greatly improve the appearance of your stitches.
      Lastly, if you're concerned about the bag maintaining its shape, lining it with a natural tote bag or similar material is a great idea! Not only will it add stability to the bag, but it can also give it a professional finish.
      Keep experimenting and don't get discouraged! Crocheting is all about practice and patience. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. You're doing great!❤🤗

      You're very welcome, and I'm delighted to hear that you've made it to the stage where you'd like to line your crochet bag! Adding a lining can not only enhance the bag's durability but also give it a more polished look.
      While I don't have the capability to provide specific links or URLs, you can find many tutorials on how to line a crochet bag by searching online. To get you started, here are the general steps you would typically follow:
      Gather Your Materials:
      Fabric for the lining
      Sewing machine or needle and thread
      Pins
      Scissors
      Measuring tape
      Iron and ironing board
      Measure and Cut the Fabric:
      Measure the inside of your crochet bag to determine the size of the lining needed.
      Add some extra fabric for seam allowances.
      Prepare the Fabric:
      Iron the fabric to remove any wrinkles.
      Fold the fabric in half, right sides facing each other.
      Sew the Sides:
      Sew the sides of the fabric together, leaving the top open.
      You can use a sewing machine or hand-sew it.
      Attach the Lining:
      Turn the lining right side out.
      Place it inside your crochet bag to check the fit.
      Use pins to secure the lining in place, ensuring it's evenly distributed and aligning with the top edge of your crochet bag.
      Stitch the Lining to the Bag:
      Carefully hand-sew or machine-sew the top edge of the lining to the top edge of your crochet bag.
      Finishing Touches:
      Trim any excess fabric if needed.
      Make sure all seams are secure.
      It's always a good idea to check out video tutorials or detailed guides online for a visual demonstration. Many craft websites and video platforms like UA-cam offer step-by-step instructions on how to line crochet bags. You can search for "how to line a crochet bag" to find the one that best suits your needs and preferences. Happy lining, and I hope your crochet bag turns out beautifully! 😊🧶

    What kind of yarn is the best for a totebag? I’m afraid of it not being able to hold alot of weight - and it unravelling. I have both acrylic and cotton yarn. And is it safe just to weave in the ends? Or use som kind of knot? Alot of questions, I know 😅 Thank you in advance 🩷✨😊

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  6 місяців тому +1

      Choosing the right yarn for a tote bag is important, especially if you're concerned about its strength and durability. Both acrylic and cotton yarns can be suitable, but they have different characteristics.
      Acrylic Yarn:
      Pros: Acrylic yarn is often more budget-friendly, comes in a wide range of colors, and can be quite durable.
      Cons: It might not have the natural feel of cotton, and it can be less breathable.
      Cotton Yarn:
      Pros: Cotton yarn is natural, breathable, and has a softer feel. It's also durable and can hold up well to weight.
      Cons: Cotton yarn may be a bit heavier than acrylic, and it can sometimes be more expensive.
      When making a tote bag, consider the purpose and your preferences. If you want a lightweight bag, acrylic might be a good choice. If you prefer a more natural feel and don't mind a bit more weight, cotton is a great option.
      I recommend that you both tie knots and weave in the end afterwards.
      Feel free to experiment with small swatches using both yarn types and securing methods to see which combination you prefer for your tote bag. And don't worry about asking questions - that's how we learn! If you have any more, feel free to ask. 😊🧶

    Hi! Im a beginner at crocheting and I watched your tutorial and it seemed easy and pretty simple how you explained it, however, when it came to attaching the front and back to the tote bag, I didn’t really understand how you did it. You showed that the last 9 pieces should be sewn together and be sewn around the edges on the big front piece. You don’t show a lot at that part, which got me a little confused, but after you sew all the edges around together, how do I sew the middle back part? • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  11 місяців тому +3

      Here are a few tips:
      Consistent Tension: Maintain a consistent tension while crocheting. This means that your stitches should be neither too tight nor too loose. Experiment with how you hold your yarn and how tightly you pull it to find what works best for you.
      Count Stitches: Count your stitches regularly to ensure you're maintaining the correct stitch count in each row. Mistakes in stitch count can lead to wonky shapes.
      Blocking: After crocheting, block your squares by gently wetting them, shaping them into a square, and allowing them to dry flat. This can help even out any unevenness and make your squares more uniform.
      As for cleaning up leftover yarn tails, here's a simple method:
      Weaving in: Thread the yarn tail onto a yarn needle. Carefully weave the needle under the stitches on the wrong side of your work, going back and forth for a short distance. Make sure the tail is securely hidden and won't come loose.
      Trimming: Once you're confident that the yarn tail is woven in securely, you can trim the excess yarn close to the fabric. Be careful not to cut the working yarn or any nearby stitches.
      Remember, practice makes perfect! Over time, you'll develop your own techniques and find what works best for you in creating tidy squares and finishing off your projects neatly. Happy crocheting! 🧶😊

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet

      Absolutely, a granny square tote bag can be a great project for beginners! The granny square itself is a classic and relatively simple crochet motif, making it a wonderful starting point for those new to crocheting. Plus, tote bags are practical and stylish items that you'll enjoy using.
      As for how long it takes, that can vary widely based on factors like your crochet speed, the size of the squares, and how much time you can dedicate to crocheting each day. Since you mentioned you're not super fast, no worries at all - the joy of crafting is in the process itself. Take your time, enjoy the journey, and celebrate each square you complete. You're building valuable skills with every stitch!
      If you're uncertain about the time commitment, you might want to start with a smaller tote bag or create a few squares to get a feel for the process. This way, you can gauge how much time it takes you and adjust your expectations accordingly.
      Remember, the goal is to enjoy the process and create something you're proud of. Don't hesitate to ask for help or guidance if you encounter any challenges along the way. Happy crocheting! 🧶🌼👜❤

    What can you put in this bag? I am making it now, and there are lots of holes just from the way the granny squares are (from the corners and gaps between the flower petals). I am hesitant about putting anything in because it could fall out or poke out the holes. I'm worried about the overall sturdiness of it.

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  6 місяців тому

      It's wonderful that you're making a crochet tote bag!
      I use my bag for a beach bag or for crochet and knitting projects, which the bag is perfect for.
      To address concerns about the sturdiness and preventing small items from falling out, here are a few suggestions:
      Lining: Consider adding a fabric lining to the inside of the tote. This can help reinforce the structure, cover the gaps between granny squares, and prevent small items from poking through.
      Base Material: If you haven't already, you might want to use a dense or sturdy yarn for the base of the bag, as this can provide additional support.
      Remember, the holes and gaps are inherent to granny square designs, but with some of these adjustments, you can enhance the durability and functionality of your tote bag. Happy crocheting! 🌼👜🧶

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  8 днів тому

      Hi! 🥰To determine the right zipper size, you'll need to know the dimensions of your purse. Measure the length of the opening where you want to add the zipper, and choose a zipper that's slightly longer than that measurement for a comfortable fit. For lining, you can use a fabric that complements your purse. Thanks for reaching out! 😊👜

    What is the reason why my corners doesn't make a perfect square? I'm a total beginner and the two first parts are fairly easy to make, but as soon as I begin the last part and get around the corners, I do not get a beautiful square...

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi 😊
      There are a few common reasons this might be happening:
      Tension Issues: One of the most common reasons for irregular shapes in crochet is inconsistent tension. If your stitches are too tight or too loose, especially around the corners, it can cause the square to warp. Try to maintain a consistent tension throughout your work.
      Stitch Count: Make sure you're counting your stitches correctly. Each corner of a granny square typically has a specific stitch pattern (like 3 double crochets, chain 2, 3 double crochets in the same space). Missing or adding extra stitches can throw off the shape.
      Hook Size and Yarn Weight: Using a hook size that doesn't match your yarn weight can also lead to problems. If the hook is too large or too small for your yarn, it can affect the tension and overall look of the square.
      Blocking: Sometimes, granny squares just need a little bit of shaping. Blocking your squares (wetting them and pinning them in the correct shape as they dry) can help even out any irregularities and make your squares more uniform.
      Practice: Since you mentioned you're a beginner, keep in mind that practice is key. Your technique and tension will naturally become more consistent with experience.
      Keep practicing, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions or need further assistance! 🧶🌟

      In general, when assembling crochet pieces, you want to make sure that the edges align properly, and the stitches match up. I recommend going back to the tutorial and carefully reviewing the assembly instructions.

    Which ply yarn is best for bag making..pls reply

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi thanks for your comment😊
      When it comes to choosing the best ply yarn for making bags, the ideal choice can vary depending on the style and durability you're aiming for in your project. Here are a few general guidelines:
      Worsted Weight (4-Ply): Worsted weight yarn is a popular choice for bags. It's durable, relatively thick, and can withstand the wear and tear a bag may experience. It's a great choice for tote bags and larger purses.
      Aran Weight (8-Ply): Aran weight yarn is even thicker than worsted weight and provides extra sturdiness. This is excellent for bags that need to carry heavy items or for those that will see a lot of use.
      Bulky or Super Bulky Weight: If you want a very sturdy and quick-to-crochet bag, consider using bulky or super bulky weight yarn. This will result in a thick, dense fabric that can handle a lot of weight and is great for market bags and winter accessories.
      Cotton Yarn: If you're making a summer or beach bag, consider using cotton yarn. It's breathable and holds up well in humid conditions.
      Nylon or Acrylic Blends: For bags that need to be water-resistant or are exposed to the elements, consider using yarn blends with nylon or acrylic, which can provide added durability and water-repellent properties.
      Ultimately, the best ply yarn for your bag-making project depends on your specific design, the purpose of the bag, and your personal preferences. You can also consider combining different yarn weights for interesting textures and color patterns in your bag. Make sure to check the yarn label for care instructions and durability before making your choice.

    • @AdoreCreaCrochet
      @AdoreCreaCrochet  Місяць тому

      Hi there! 😊The time it takes to make a granny square tote bag can vary depending on your crochet speed. Generally, making a large tote bag with multiple granny squares can take several hours to a few days, depending on how much time you can dedicate to crocheting each day.
      Regarding your hook and yarn choice, using a 5.5mm hook with yarn that recommends a 5.5mm hook should work well for your project. This hook size should give you the desired tension and stitch definition for a sturdy tote bag. Make sure to check your gauge as you go along to ensure the bag turns out as expected.
      Happy crocheting, and enjoy making your tote bag! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. 🌼🧶
