- I thought of this idea on a whim since we're approaching the new year and I hope it's translated well to the screen. 2019 has been our first year of dedicated job adjustments and in this video, I list what I think the top six among them have been.

New player here and I’ve recently subbed to you being your one of the very few producing content for this game. Much appreciated by the way. I started back in November during the discount campaign. Joined a great LS and thus far the experience has been awesome. Started as a red mage and was shocked to see it being your number one on the list. I was starting to feel not so motivated by red mage but figured it could do many things that may keep me occupied until I find the right job. You Give me hope lol, but I’m still in the slow process of trying to narrow down a job. I’ve been slowly unlocking job after job to get a feel for the play style. I’ve played MMOs such as WoW and dabbled with FFXIV but this game has been very enjoyable. Thanks for your content

Thanks Ruau this was such fun to watch, cant wait to see what comes next as jobs get closer and closer to their perfect version. As everyone else says i cant wait to see what the to for whm, nin and bst in the future updates.

Love your video, I used to play FFXI for years as a Bard main and then left when FFXIV 1.0 came out. I came back for a bit during Abyssea but never got around to playing around in recent years and your videos are always so interesting to watch. :)
I’m stoked that I can finally roll rdm again! Only started playing again a few months ago but was super bummed to hear (at least in vids) that rdm wasn’t doing so hot, as it was my first class when I initially started playing back in 75 era.
Suggestions for worst job updates here: I remember they had messed up WHM's update in some way that they ended up needing to reverse / correct, but at least they didn't get what BST got in only two new pets. I would have friggin' loved to see BST get new (old) "large" type monsters like Ram and Marlboros. I recall that WAY back in the very earliest of days, BST could actually charm them. Large type being the kind that make the ground shake when they wander around. Thank you for providing entertaining content about a nearly 18 year old game that is well-informed and seemingly unbiased.
Majesty is SUCH a game changer. PLD is my first love, and I've enjoyed the heck out of that ability since I returned to the game. Great video bud, Nudawn podcast brought me here!
I couldn't agree more with RDM being #1.Between the Lilith set and the sabo/spell buffs, the things it's capable of now are insane.

Brd's tiny song update meant for our LS to consistently having dead DDs on wave 3 boss due to everyone being hate capped to never having them die or pulling hate anymore.

He mentioned in the Nudawn podcast that he keeps gear that he uses for multiple jobs in the wardrobes, and most of the job specific gear goes into satchel / sack / case. That way he only needs to move everything BLM into his inventory when he wants to play BLM.

It’s called party buffs haha ironic, but you can google it and find it easy, it’s not part of regular windower, but it’s just for your party not alliance

Yeah, I personally know Avesta... he's not on any private server. People just like to steal his name. His name can be found on Nasomi, Eden and Omega. None of which is him.
Avesta stopped solo’ing once gravity was nerfed with diminishing returns for the most part. He relied on it heavily and it made solo’ing very easy. He should still be commended for inventing the method and inspiring but realistically it wasn’t skillful with gravity up full time.

Wow, that's some fantastic news. I love MNK so if I start to play FF11 again I will have that to look forward to. LOL, I remember back in the day when RDM was OP and SE nerfed it to death, and now they decide to make it OP again. 🤣👍 RDM was my first job to 75 but not to long after I got it capped I really began to hate it and decided to lvl up other jobs, thank goodness. All RDM was really good for or what it was wanted for was to haste/refresh which became so stinking boring I wanted to pull my hair out. Colibri camp in Wajaom Woodlands I think it was that people really wanted an RDM for, that or Bhaflau Thickets, I can't remember. The good old days. 😎👍

So back to the days of 75, when Monks were the best general DD except in super HNM with massive defense and RDMs were just OP period.
as someone who only plays private servers, it's nice to see what's still happening on retail.

havent played since 2017 but when you said they removed the spells from rdm merits and made them into scroll spells my ears perked up lol loved rdm back when cap was 75/80 and then again when cap raised to 90 but ever since they raised it above 90 my love for rdm died hopefully the changes to it since 2017 will bring that love for it back again XD

Well, crap, now I want to resub. It's been a few years since I played frequently and about two since I subbed to focus on XIV (casual play) and other games. I logged in during free period on Lakshmi and it seemed a little dead there, but ran into a couple people I knew or remembered. I don't really care for endgame in games and always loved DDing as Bard (I have an i119 Mandau). I've been able to solo darknss for a long time. I loved in XI you could try different things out and sometimes make them work.

are monks good now? monk is my main in every game and i heard they were terrible, so are they good enough to play now and not be shunned by other players?
Aldor PeaceKeeper it’s really powerful now but requires a bit of skill and a solid weapon
I would like to reply that a properly geared Monk, with a good knowledge of how to play the job, is among the best DPS in the game. This video is spot-on in terms of the improvements for the aforementioned jobs.

The worst updates were probably NIN and BST. Ninja didn't really get much that I can remember, except that their spell casting was made even worse. BST also didn't really get much that I can remember, although BST is getting another update soon so maybe they'll get something good.
I think it's going on 10 years now since I last played... I'm almost tempted to get back on. Though, wonder if my character is still even there, I really don't want to have to start from scratch :/
If you have your log in information you can check see if the character is still there though if it isn't it is so much more quicker and simpler to get backup to speed as it were now.
@@Starnech Sadly, there is huge chance I won't be able to recover as e-mail it was attached to is gone. I do still have my original codes and even my one time login token.
I also was an original player who did not come back after over 7 years. If you call customer support they were able to work with me so that I was close enough to reclaim my original account. This is after I used a buddies account for a year and then he took it back. Also I will say starting from scratch is nothing anymore. I had forgotten so much that I created a new character to play with my wife who just started. So did a buddy of mine. We surpassed our old characters in a couple of months. It does not slow down until you get to endgame if you could call it that, and you start farming for gear and grinding job points. I am basically saying do not feel like you are behind by loosing an account. Once I got used to the game again you can become overwhelmed with how much content there is and you can do almost all of it solo if need be because of trusts. I say take the chance and give it a try. @El Bottoo I believe to buy the Ultimate Edition which includes all expansions is $30 US. After that the normal subscription fee. Compared to all the MMOs me and my friends played over the years, I finally just had enough and settled down and started this as my only MMO to play. Good luck on your choices!

Beastmaster definitely got the shaft this year. Nerfing the Ready distance and not touching other pet jobs in the same manner was a slap in the face.

@@nhifuu There are some who use BST to solo end-game content! With the right gear you can do alot of damage and content.

It... kinda boggles my mind, the idea of Red Mage being bad in Final Fantasy 11, where it healed better than White Mage, buffed better than bard, and still tossed out enfeebled and was like... one of the only jobs outside of BST that could effectively solo?
I used to HATE the smug confidence that RDM mains would exude. I used to shake my head as my friends would do some sort of nonsense with Joyeuse and K-club that would feed mobs oodles of TP, but also lay them low with the onslaught of En-spell damage.

I guess BST too, but really, there is no saving BST. NIN needed the MNK treatment, and instead, we actually got nerfed, by changing the buffs on the relic head.

Generally like the video. I think the PLD love here is a little bit overblown. At best I might put it 5th below the DNC update but I think that’s generous but also indicative that some jobs had terrible updates.
Hit enter too fast. The DRG update was fantastic and something I think needs to be said is it’s actually now a very good subjob for many DD replacing /war in attack capped cases. In fact the DRG update was an indirect update for many jobs because of this. For RDM I agree it was a great year for them. They still have an issue where you only ever need one per alliance which limits them but for now I’d call it a win.
Almost done with Goldsmithing Crafting shield. Then it’s all in on RDM. I got depressed when I returned to the game and Excalibur was worthless.
Why almost all video of ff11 looks like its running at 15-20 fps?

That was so gross when they added Accension (or whatever the SCH ability is that makes spells AoE), but didn't allow haste to be cast via that ability that way as AoE. Back before I loaded up on an enhancing magic duration build, I recall that 3 minute haste timer being sofa king annoying.
Forgot about the RDM updates and 2 of my toons are 5/5 malignance. LOL I wonder what a full PT of RDM in malignance could do.

Although I believe that Monk was never that broken in the past year, they did in fact improve the weapon skills greatly. A properly geared Monk will rip through most end game content .

You should have mentioned rdm soloing WoC. That's far more impressive than Ou. Other jobs can solo Ou. No one has soloed WoC besides rdm now.
The job, unfortunately requires so much custom writing in a lua or XML depending on your playstyle. And I'd say 70% of the "skill" comes from what gearswap/ashitacast can do for you and your ability to write unfortunately
It's about right. But I believe that monk needs more update. To me the WS update for mnk wasnt really needed as monk is not a dos for spike dmg. What I would have like to see fix and adjusted are the JA. Example make the miss reset ration for impetus a 1 to 1 ration. Miss one you lose one. Lower chakras CD. Increase Chiblast dmg. Increase dmg of FW or increase it duration. Change the dmg penalty on counterstance to maybe penalty on att speed. I mean there a while lot more that could've still be work on mnk. Not gonna lie seeing big numbers for mnks WS is nice, but didnt choose mnk for it's high dmg even back in 75 era when I played mnk then. I hope the updates continue and like drg and rdm, I hope to see another update for mnk.
That change to impetus would be completely broken with 99% accuracy cap. Chakra is meant to be a full cure for oh shit moments, not making a monk a self sufficient job. Chi blast damage would need to be huge to matter and it would have no sense really. It has great utility and require no updates. FW has very high damage, not sure where are you coming from here. It's very good ability. You could increase duration, but you would probably need to tone down bonuses then. I like it how it is now. It's a great zerging tool or something to partially fill the spot of 2 min of Impetus downtime on longer fights/events. The only thing that could be changed is counterstance.
Vote for worst update is Bst. Top dog back in the heyday and now pups and smns laugh at it.
DRG and WAR still cant hold a candle to DRK sadly, which IMO needs a solid Torcleaver nerf. If cammlanns functioned the same as torcleaver maybe, or if both jobs got a base damage tweak to keep up. Otherwise they both get left in the dust.

@@nemeanlioness lol yea NIN arent the highest DD but Blade Ten, and Chi are really nice but arent that great for SCing. I would rather they fix ninjutsu as now its pretty worthless on end game fights. And there should always be a way to make an aspect of a job perform well in the endgame and atm ninjutsu just does not.

@@nemeanlioness The Relic head had Enhances San Spell damage...That is Yonin/Innin augment now. The feet had M.att they now has cast speed and macc. Nukes are weaker, and they were already weak for endgame stuff.

See the thing is I have both THF and DNC at BIS. I LOVE my THF, but that doesn’t mean it’s better than DNC in spike damage. It’s just not. Climatic flourish is basically guaranteed 99k damage and you can do it multiple times. At best THF can equal this with TA and SA. But it’s when abilities are down that DNC will really dump on THF because they just have better gear. I really hate that they gave THF only +6% WSD on their +3
And literally NO job can out DD a DNC for the roughly 15 seconds it has its 1 hour active.

I highly doubt it beats the triple attack/ dex gear of thf.
Im guessing it looks more like drg or blu gear and have a bunch of other stats that help with your job abilities than straight up dmg.
Your two hour is limited to how many ws you get off and seeing as dnc is slow compared to thf.. Good luck.
Dnc has more survivability and can lay down some damage once an hour.
But thats like saying smn can do more spike damage because of their astral flows once per hour.

@@SplitFinn This. My group has played almost every major mmo and plenty of minor. None have the challenge or the community support this one has. There are 3 of us out of 7 who have come back to FFXI to stay after the last 13 years of searching for better. Only 2 others play mmos sometimes anymore as no one has found anything that can not be completed in just a handful of months. Almost all MMO's are made for the masses. The masses are happy with so so.
Worse mmo in gaming history. Such a let down. Slower then a turtle missing all 4 legs
