I'm a chevy guy, but I'd rather have a mustang. Especially a terminator.
F body all day. Just bought a 2001 trans am
truth is as a young teenager when my mom took us street racing in the early 2000s we were never racing camaro's it was always a gt cobra or terminator who wanted too race unfortunately for them 3rd gear in a vr4 3000gt will humble most mustangs real quick like. it never lost a race too a mustang. had a nice cobra sticker on the back that said snake skinner
Mustang all day
Hey guys, I released this one an hour early to see if that helps people in the East who want to watch earlier in the morning. So many watch while having breakfast and coffee so this way it's not coming out at 10:30 for them. Good morning!!
Thank you!
Since I'm watching this on Saturday Night in Australia what am I going to do Sunday Morning?
Much appreciated ❤🙌
Thank you Alex
Watch again!@@paulaus
Your editor is stepping his game up! He's also really really ridiculously good looking...
😂😂😂😂😂😂
He really wants to be a male model

I liked seeing the gauges when the Mustang was on the dyno it was a nice touch.
I thought the banner over his dyno said “mustang farts unlimited” 😂 it wouldn’t be wrong
After seeing the sign I knew someone was gonna comment that
not the only one 😂
@@AlejandroRamirez-vl8mr Same here! HAHAHAA
I came to the comment section to see if I was the only one that saw that and laughed. We are all children..
Same lmao
29:51 I saw the banner and couldn't understand why I was reading "Mustang Farts Unlimited" 😄
Same here 😂
Dammit! Now can't unsee!
I've said it a bunch of times, and I'll say it again, your videos are therapeutic to me. They bring back so many great memories of the old Power Block TV days that it tickles my brain. This is what I look forward to every Saturday morning when my kids are still asleep and before everything turns hectic. Keep up the great work, Alex, and happy Father's Day to you and all the dads out there.
“Rule #1! We’re not here to kill the tuner”….. mandatory to say when in a Mustang lol
Been waiting. For this. This car changed the muscle car 2 Era. And moved the 60s into 00s. This is going to be my favorite episode I know
I live in Hampshire in the UK, we all pronounce it 'Hampsheer'. It's not a Town here, it's actually a County.
In Hertford, Hereford, and Hampshire hurricanes hardly happen
If you don’t use right fluid for rear end formulated for lockers it will make more noise than normal. You need a fluid friction modifier
PIN THIS
Unless it is a Detroit, they do not require a modifier.
Its a locker, not a limited slip
Gifted to me by my Dad, the "Original Owner" ~ I would always choose my Complete #'s Matching, 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6, M22 4-Speed, in Tuxedo Black w/ White SS Stripes. The Memories far surpass the Money!!! Happy Father's Day!
You're car is the greatest muscle car ever built in the best color scheme for sure. I would likeca clone one day because I would be so nervous driving a true LS6 around. I envy you👏🤘👌
You just proved I did the right thing. Just bought new wheels for my Z28 and the previous owner had drag radials. First thing I did was buy new rear tires. Glad I did.
It's crazy how far tech has come since that car was new. I had a 5th gen ls3 Camaro with a V7ysi blower and basic supporting mods (blower cam and valve springs and such) rolling 800-1000hp depending on the tune. No way you're getting that out of a 2000 Ls1 Camaro in the year 2000. Innovation is a crazy thing. That you're seeing 1000hp daily driver cars with A/C no less!
"I wish I wasn't good at this" is something I've said a million times. I feel your pain.
She never says that
Cannot begin to express how much I appreciate your vids. Especially the issues you sometimes go through to resolve a problem. I was away from wrenching on cars for 30+ years while I raised a family. Now I'm back into it and wrenching on a 2015 Mustang that I track several times every summer. Can't tell you how many times I have installed or modified something and it didn't work out. I start wondering what I did wrong... then I see what you go through and how many times you have to install, remove, install, remove, etc., to get something right, and I realize, What the hell, this is just part of the deal. So, I relax, remove the part, review what I'm doing, revise, improve, and attack the issue again. Awesome. So, I'm gradually getting my car to where I want it to be, not losing my temper, and actually enjoying the process. Even when the high end clutch I installed doesn't work right for the umpteenth time and I have to pull it out and send it back b/c I see after I pull it out there's something wrong with it, not me! Thanks Alex!! Really, really appreciate that you show what it's really like to build a car!!
Who else owns a Mustang? Whatcha got?
I've a Tata manza with faulty glow plugs

I don't have a mustang but my brother has an 84 Corvette. If you're ever in new Hampshire you should come up to Maine

Probably easier to find a different tensioner than that belt.
Either a larger or smaller pulley wheel would be a good solution. 👍
You put your left foot in... you put your right foot in... you let your left foot out.... then you crash into a crowd 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's what the mustangs all about! 😂
You leave the cars and coffee, take pedestrians out. And that's what the 'stang's about.
@@davidgwin4540 That wasnt a mustang at that white nationalism rally that slammed into a crowd of people driven by a deluded magical childish thinker, but then again we see that sort of thing even with pickup trucks on sidewalks driven by maga hat wearing teens and such that killed families. That's what maga is all about, Make America Gregorian Again.
As a mustang owner I agree
Hence the “crowd killer” moniker 😯
I am a Mopar guy. The fact that you are not is the reason I watch your channel. I learn a lot about models I am not as familiar with. I also am into Mercedes and I am one of the few people that really liked the Daimler Chrysler merger.
Agreed, but if he ever revives an old Viper I'll be giddy out of my mind. 😅
@@chrisej5987 A Viper series would be sick!!!
Would you rather have a Mustang or Camaro?
5.0 mustang
Mustang Gang
Mustang
Can I have both? 🤷♂️
Camaro
If you can find a “Torsen” differential, I think you be impressed. Great straight line traction and in turns. They have been made by several different owners during the years. If the unit available uses powdered metal/sintered gears, it is to be avoided at all costs! Billet cut gears are the only type to own.
I was saying to myself Alex needs to drop the locker and put in a Quaife.
This is the earliest I have ever been for an Alex Video. Hello from. 11:45pm Melbourne Australia.
Hi Alex. I love this Cobra, Yes, we have tole's over here in Ireland and they are a proper rip off bro, €3.80 for Cars to pass through. You did a brilliant job on the GTR last week. Very impressive Alex. Beefcake is the man, NICE job fitting that belt with the blower. Jesus, I love that Boost, Mike is such a nice guy 😅. Mike has some serious cars parked up there. I hope you're doing well with Selling some of your Cars 🚗, mate. Anyway, great video as always Alex. Keep it up, bro. 💯🥰 🇮🇪
Mike is the man! Too bad we couldn't hit 500, but that is still very respectable numbers for an old school combination. It was a pleasure having a small hand in this project. Maybe another Mustang is in your future and maybe we'll be there to help out!
- Epi
I know Terry and that car (as many people probably do). Brings back a lot of memories.
I live in Iowa and I had Mike tune my turboed 99 cobra. 4 years later and she’s still running strong. Definitely a very knowledgeable dude.
loving your channel even more, can't help myself but to sit down every week at the same time and be entertained.
Hey Alex, The owner of the Mopar shop is Jeremy Satera (Satera Tuning) super cool guy. It’s like skittles in there with all the Mopar colors 😆.
Mike from DeLorean Midwest knows him pretty well. He’s a good LS tuner too.
A little earlier upload today absolutely love it man Rock on Alex also I can't wait to see the end product of the mustang!
I lived in Illinois for 12 years. Sometimes I would get in the car and drive for an hour. Then turn around and drive back. Just for the hell of it. Loved every minute living there.
Awesome power, Alex! With an 18% driveline loss correction, you're making a solid 600hp at the crank.
The driveline loss varies greatly with what converter is in it, line pressure, what pump is in the transmission etc. but I agree it is probably right around 600hp
@@johngarlick7115 Absolutely, I concur, there are a lot of variables. Older cars are *usually* a little looser, a bit more loss. Newer tend to be tighter tolerances, so more efficient. With a loose converter, you're probably closer to 20% loss, but I assumed it was a tight converter and decent high pump pressure. Live axle usually is a little less loss that independent. I used to have a shop and tuned on a Dynojet. So a decent loss on this Cobra is probably right in the 16-18% loss, which is a solid 600hp. It would be awesome if he tuned for higher octane/E85, but the car isn't gonna hook on the street like it is now, so more would be a waste. "Spinning ain't winning."
@@End3r_Wiggin yeah e85 would wake that thing up, he already said he the injectors, and pump where running at a low duty cycle so probably wouldn’t even have to mess with those. I bet a lot of his spinning has to do with suspension, even though it was a drag car with a suspension for drag racing doesn’t mean it’s adjusted properly. Just looking at video of the car when he stabs the throttle it doesn’t look like any weight transfer is happening, like the rear suspension is hard as a rock, and the front suspension strut rebound is set to full and is slowing the front end coming up fast enough to get the weight transferred.
Taking it to Mike was your best mod. He is the only tuner for Ford products to use.
Max deserves a bonus for the idea. 💡
I've mentioned in the comments before that I have a '96 Cobra. There is nothing I hate more than driving it in the rain. I've had more close calls from hydroplaning and busted rims and bent axles from sliding on ice. Always keep good tires on your cars!
I live in Hampshire in the UK, we all pronounce it 'Hampsheer'. It's not a Town here, it's actually a County.
IIRC, the "shire" part indicates it's a county or county-like area, is that correct?
In essence, yes.
Technically we still own the US lol lol lol
I live there too and can confirm this to be correct. We'd never say 'Hamp -shire'.
@@BuildandTinkerAnd it's definitely said Lanca SHER up here in Bolton. I cringe every time I hear Americans say the Shire but to any of our counties
I'd like to admire how Alex said "...so, let's get to work"(16:29), as opposed to something like "But, that's a project for future Alex." I love this guy!!
Love that car. Hated mustangs of that era but the cobras were the king. Had an 02 TA but a cobra always scared me. Love your work Alex!
If you're in a pinch and your wipers aren't working well- get some rain-x, pretty much all gas stations around here carry it in spray bottles or wipes. If it's raining hard just dump it on there- don't need wipers with rain-x! I only use their wiper fluid for this reason, the only time I really use the wipers is to just spread it around.
Perfect timing, just sat down to drop a dump on overtime 😂
Make it a long one!
I did all the same stuff you are doing many years ago on my blown 97 cobra. Swapped the pulley for a custom made smaller pulley. I had to machine the pulley shoulder so it would clear the valves cover. Then i had to find the right length belt because mine was a little too long. It worked but at high rpm it popped off. So many hours, luck and money i found a green belt that they had only just began making. (I had wanted green for years but they didn’t have them in my size). Similar setup. But mine has a Paxton Novi 2000. the pulley swap went from 17lbs, to making 21lbs………. Which was unheard of 15 years ago before the Procharger era.
I think the thing that made me happiest in this video was peaking a engine under wrap under the lightning
There is just something special about a mustang. I still love my 2008 GT, even though I don't drive it very often anymore.
My favorite part of Saturday!!!
It’s nice to see these professional UA-camrs have to do it 12 times before it’s right just like I do, makes me feel not so bad about my projects!
You've finished a build?
No no no, you've just finished the build...for now 😉
Have a very similarly built 99 Cobra and this is easily the best video on the web for the build. Love this channel.
Awesome video and killer editing Max
Beautiful car. My old 300hp Fox body with 4.10s and a 3krpm stall converter would blow the tires off up to 50mph. Arguably Fords best sounding motor, sounds even better with boost. 🔥
Drag radials + rain = bad day!!!
GOD I LOVE MUSTANGS!!!!! That blue 1992 or 1993 5.0 Fox body is awesome! You can tell because the molding that goes around is body colored. In 1991 and before it was black on every car. I have had 2 1992 Mustang LX hatchbacks. The white and yellow Mustangs are 1994 or 1995s. In 1996 they changed the taillights to go vertical.
You guys hear the GTR lately? ua-cam.com/video/pEq-hqE7iec/v-deo.htmlsi=qhKqqqkJismb-9pz
@8:15 that was slick as hell bro I always appreciate little things like that
What's the most dangerous car ever made?
Vw Beetle
Dodge viper 1st gen
I've heard the ford pinto wasn't actually that dangerous but I douldnt like an exploding rear end in any situation.
That would be the 3 wheeled Reliant Robin. Slightest turn would turn that car on its side.
Porsche 930 turbo… the OG widowmaker.

YES A MUSTANG VIDEO!🎉
Liked your earlier edition. Now that it's tuned...the sound and the immediate power is so exciting. To be in that driver's seat...wow.
Early today! Love it!
Man what a car I'm a Camaro guy myself owning a Krypton green Camaro but I'm going to tell you man I've already seen you have the guy who was buying it on and that's cool that you sold it to him for what you bought it for even after fixing it up and getting it at its glory that it is currently but man with a car absolutely stunning and you did a wonderful job I mean no one could have done a better job from pickup to drop off absolutely amazing
Pennsylvania has the most expensive toll road in the world to drive on. The Pennsylvania Turnpike
Don't I know it.
We dropped 50$ going through there.
...
The services prices are bad too.
Went through there in 2014. 30$ for 2 Starbucks 2 waters and 2 sandwiches..
.
Probably a grand for the same now..
Lol.
At 15 mins. FYI. Centri blower will make boost linearly. Rpm is directly related to boost, unlike a positive displacement blower. You will only see max boost at max rpm. Also, Procharger uses a blower pulley with no lip on the alternator side for more clearance. Might be something to look at if Vortech has similar if you go to another pulley.
Is no one else blown away that the guy who sent him the 3" pulley is the SAME GUY who drove AND OWNED the Cobra that he is working on right now. He sent him the part to the same car he built and owned and raced. Same car. Same guy. What. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN THAT'S SO COOL
A mustang going sideways when you don't want it too. Is there anything more predictable about a ford mustang than that? A friend and ford lover I know coined a phrase that seems to be fairly fitting. "Ford : The check engine light means it's running!"
Love that shop with all the mustangs! Man Alex so many issues trying to find a belt. Hope you have an extra one. Alex glad you grabbed this cobra and got it running and driving again! Love this cobra!
Mike needs to clean his computer screen.
Great vid.
We have to consider the current ~ 500wh is a safe daily driver spec.
Yet back in the Day it was pulling another ~100 horses.
Amazing how technology moves on..to make that 500wh a daily.
***WARNING*** Beware of Mustang drivers may cause sudden uncontrollable skids into hard objects.

what wheels are those on the cobra?
Replica 03-04 Cobra wheels
Great video, really enjoy you videos over all the crazy yelling and just none stop revving of the engines of lambos and Ferraris on “the other” channels. So just good edits, good videos, good cars, no yelling, normal way awesome cars, real repairs and tuning, and explanations of actual facts and not regurgitated facts that even the “tuners” or “mechanics” don’t understand. Thanks for posting all the work you do to make the vids brother.
I see why so many people lose control all the time. People have to respect the power with a rwd. Even bone stock on wet pavement can get dicey for someone that doesn't know what they're doing lol. Best thing to do is find a good wide open area away from everything and get used to launching it and counter steering out of that pretend stop sign without taking out the crowd lol.
He has 1000hp trans am etc, That do not lose the traction like this Postang, Its the ford design of bad wheel base, Why kids and newbies think they are much faster then they are, And why they kill so many people.
I love your passion for cars and enthusiasm to teach people
I’m a Camaro man but I like that yr of Mustang . I was coming down my street and there was a 12 or 13 Camaro on the side of the street with his belt thrown off his whipple, fast but, more problems. I’m sure he never checked tension after initial break in, rich kids you know. I’ll stay N/A 14 SS 1LE 416
Do not change those lower control arms. Rebuild them. They are an old head key to traction for any 79-04 mustang. They are south side machine bars. They force the rear end down to the pavement as the body shifts back. Instant center is near perfect. They work best with tubular adjustable uppers with solid joints. The car has battle box reinforcements and connectors. Launch it and it will hook in gravel.
I had a 99 cobra too with a procharger. Thats not a blow off valve, its a bypass valve. Id run it open so id get the loud swooosh!! I loved it. Not sure why but sometimes if i goosed it while turning, my belt would come right off.
Alex…I feel your pain on the whole serpentine belt saga…years ago I built a motor for my wife’s civic with a D16z6 and a Jackson Racing blower setup and getting the belt right sucked!! I worked at a parts store at the time and i think I had all the belts on the floor!! …lol…I got it and man it was a fun little sleeper.
I owned a blacked out 98’ Cobra SVT about 15 years ago now and it was trying to kill me anytime it started to rain. Those cars just naturally want to break loose even when you’re least expecting it too. They are awesome, some what “inexpensive” cars tho for what you get. 🐍
27:17 Dude Alex, your arms are getting huge man. You should really show us a before and after picture from your 30 day challenge you’re doing with OJ! Love it man…
That was so interesting to learn about how to use the plug to check timing. Awesome video!
If I still had my Dad's '79 Indy Pace Car (he bought new and it lived in the garage, under 40K miles in 2010 when I sold it after his passing a year earlier)....I'd definitely be taking it to this place! (Don't hate on the 4 cyl Turbo lol) And what's this at the end? You're not keeping the Cobra??!!!
My dad had the same car. Wish I still had it too! Sold it in the early nineties when I was about twelve or so. Still have dreams where I can smell the interior
Leather belt slitters have been a thing for quite a while. Everything from handheld ones to massive commercial ones. For a rubber belt, it's easier to make a jig out of wood. A utility blade embedded most of the way into a board and a straight edge is clamped at the required distance. Another board is placed on top using a shim to hold it away the thickness of the belt. In this case, carefully starting the cut by hand is necessary because it's a loop. It may necessary to have a fence on both sides, because the belts are so expensive. no mistakes allowed. The bottom piece must be clamped/screwed down to a workbench.
I don't recommend the hand held ones for your use.
I believe 6psi was the starting point for centrifugal blower kits back then. 6,9,12,15 psi was somewhat the step up in pulley options. So someone put the most mild pulley on there.
Sweet! Waiting in the airport and an unexpected LSC video pops up! Should make the wait go by quicker. 😁
That’s what I have to do with my Mustang as well. I get the 12rib belt since that’s what other shops do and cut it down to 10 with a razor. It’ll be fine and it won’t tear or anything. As long as it’s straight
Alex-thats how we check jetting and timing on a 2stroke, we do a plug chop. We basically got WOT and kill the bike. Pull the plug and look at the porcelain color.
5 simple mods to turn the crowd killer into a crowd pleaser are strut tower braces in front and rear.. racing front and rear control arms .. and coilovers I swear anyone with a swirly mustang should give these easy to install mods a chance and see the difference
Great video Alex sorry it took a few days for me to get time to watch it !
Love the old skool Vibe to this car 👍🏻such great nostalgia!
Mike is my tuner as well, and he and his crew are great guys to work with. If there is even remotely any question of the man's skills, all you need to do is look at his white New Balance shoes and know that you're in good hands.
Best car repair/upgrade channel I have found. Great video keep it up.
As the old saying goes, it isn't the car, it's the driver. Fun video. Great car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tuning a dirt bike carb for the main its called a plug chop. Get it up WFO on the main jet (warmed up) and chop the throttle and hit kill switch. Let it stop and check the plug. Will give you an indication of main jet. You can then tune in the needle and work the pilot and fuel screw.
Mike Post and DynoTuneMP is the perfect place for rhe job!! So Glad you got over there...
You put in a lot of hard work. I feel bad seeing how many issues you’ve had and how many times the blower had to come back off. Nice work.
SMALL WORLD , my mechanic eric loslowsi ( you might know him ) he lives in woodstock ,, he put my whipple on my 2018 gt a few years back ,,, AND MIKE’s shop is where he brought it !!!!! i live in woodstock at the moment … But Mike knows Eric personally !!!!!! he’s the best dyno shop in the midwest!!! cool stuff . i’m Scott Zydel . grew up in DesPlaines
With the cicadas I only knew of 2. A 13 year one and the 17 year one and every 87 years they both hatch. It’s been so loud here but now it’s gotten quiet again. It’s nice not hearing the bit kinda cool hearing both. One last thing those things will bite. They have a little tube mouth and will stab you with it.
Razor blade in the vice trick was key. Way to go M A X
Great video! Thank you for this! Would be nice to have a video summarizing all dyno results from all your cars
subaru ej207 cam belt = australia $267.00 and that`s a standard type - blue race version $325.00 yes they are expensive but made really tough - i use the old belt as a short tow rope ! puller . thank you Alex .
