The S4 was one of the best car I ever owned. Aside from the difficulty working on it yourself, I fell in love with it. I plan on finding one after my chemo treatments end.

I had a silver 2005 S4 6 speed manual with 30k miles that I kept as a driver for awhile. I loved it, I drove it to Chicago from Kansas City a couple of times and to Rochester, Minnesota twice to the Mayo Clinic. Mine had the same seats as this one, I think they're super comfortable, especially for long trips. I also bought a 2002 Audi S6 Avant at Manheim Orlando back in 2005 or 2006. It was an executive driven car and only had 1200 miles, it was in the VW/Audi financial lane and I just had to have it...even though I had no idea of the value due to only having a thousand miles I ended up paying $10 grand over extra clean wholesale book, just me and one other guy bidding back and forth for thousands, luckily for me he gave up. I shipped it back to KC and put it online and sold it later that night! A really nice couple flew in from San Francisco and gave me my asking price. I don't think anyone that has ever worked on a audi has said you should try out an Audi the lie detector test determines that was a lie 🤣 anyways good luck with her sell it asap and run as fast as you can
Should have done the PCV while in there. Normally that's paired with the thermostat if you have the SC off. Surprised FCP Euro didn't recommend that. As a B8.5 S4 owner, glad to see you get one. I consider some of these common problems as things I will likely have to address in the future.
15:13 can confirm the rattle is normal. My dad has a touareg hybrid. Even tho its a 2014, it has the same supercharged v6 and it does rattle on cold starts.
With everyone buying cars from “dealer auctions” it’s not representative of what we could do as DIY people. That’s one of the reasons I watched both you and samcrac.
Is it though. A man without a dealer license found someone who did to buy a car for him. Tons of people all over the US offer similar services as to what Sam gave legit streetcars.
I drive a Q7 with a revised version of this supercharged 6. I would have replaced the PVC valve while in under the supercharger as they commonly fail causing excess crankcase pressure, blow by, and increased oil consumption, but you do you. I love my Audis.
Surprised you don't need to completely remove the entire driveline to access the thermostat. Usually with an S4, the labour quote for anything is "we'll start at 50 hours and call you once it goes past that, and it will go past that..."
@@cigarsgunsanddiesel8032 The supercharger on the 2010-2016 Audi S4 isn't creating the heat that most other "hot V" engine suffer from. The newer 2017+ B9 S4 has a turbo within the V and Audi did a great job on keeping the thermals in close to the turbo so its not cooking the cylinder head components. I own a tuned/upper pulley 2013 S4 and Best friend has 2018 S4 that he bough new and it also is tuned and typical bolt on's with zero issue's after almost 80,000 miles.
@@rachelgreen1368 Yes 80k is still kinda considered lower mileage for today’s standards because of the engineering that’s gone into these modern Audi engines. As far as 150k goes anything can happen regardless of the layout of the forced induction system that it’s equipped with. I’ve been using FCP Euro for years, best for me is that I live 40 minutes away from their retail outlet. That comes in handy when your returning brake rotors under warranty.
Guess he picked the new car. Nice choice man!
2005 Audi S4 Avant - 4.2 V8 Manual 6 speed, Hotchkis sway bars, Milltek catback non-resonated exhaust, stage 1 tune. 144,000 miles, full timing service performed at 114,000 miles. Fantastic car in superb condition. Amazing car and lots of smiles per gallon...
The best engine was on the shirt on Alex's back.
Another success story. You are the man. And Sam too.
Great colab, flip this one and buy Sam's Jag!
Thumbs up for Sam's ingenuity.
I don't think anyone that has ever worked on a audi has said you should try out an Audi the lie detector test determines that was a lie 🤣 anyways good luck with her sell it asap and run as fast as you can
You 2 needs to do more Audi specials like this! Also, help me get my B6 A4 diagnosed 😭
31:28 Watch Sam's arm movements. Now we know what living around chickens does to you! Do the chicken dance Sam! 😂
If you need a obd tool for the audi get VCDS or obd11, I used carly and it had limited options
you can get a brand new wrangler without power door locks and windows... they are an option
That makes sense with removable doors.
Nice to see an Audi on the channel. I have a very modified 2004 S4 and I love it.
Should have done the PCV while in there. Normally that's paired with the thermostat if you have the SC off. Surprised FCP Euro didn't recommend that. As a B8.5 S4 owner, glad to see you get one. I consider some of these common problems as things I will likely have to address in the future.
Lol at the rusty Allen keys. “They’re not rusty, They’re mine.” Awesome. Love that guy
When are you going to post more lexus stuff???
Keep up the questionable reliability car content
God bless you
Very soon

Haha, next 2 weeks

15:13 can confirm the rattle is normal. My dad has a touareg hybrid. Even tho its a 2014, it has the same supercharged v6 and it does rattle on cold starts.
It can be worn timing guides too
With everyone buying cars from “dealer auctions” it’s not representative of what we could do as DIY people. That’s one of the reasons I watched both you and samcrac.
Is it though. A man without a dealer license found someone who did to buy a car for him. Tons of people all over the US offer similar services as to what Sam gave legit streetcars.
For a hefty fee…
Finally an Audi!! Thanks for listening Alex. Love to see it.
Sams cows have advanced on the Audi.
They're cute!
I drive a Q7 with a revised version of this supercharged 6. I would have replaced the PVC valve while in under the supercharger as they commonly fail causing excess crankcase pressure, blow by, and increased oil consumption, but you do you. I love my Audis.
I think it needs a gearbox fluid flush - I'd also like to see this stay close to stock - the OEM+ route would be nice.
Surprised you don't need to completely remove the entire driveline to access the thermostat. Usually with an S4, the labour quote for anything is "we'll start at 50 hours and call you once it goes past that, and it will go past that..."
The worst cars are the "hot V" engines with the turbos in the V... and the Lexus V8's with the damn starter in the V!!!
@@rubenm.391 80k miles is new.what about after 150k miles?
@@rachelgreen1368 Yes 80k is still kinda considered lower mileage for today’s standards because of the engineering that’s gone into these modern Audi engines. As far as 150k goes anything can happen regardless of the layout of the forced induction system that it’s equipped with. I’ve had turbocharger failures at 25K and cracked ringlands at 49K on my other currently owned Audi vehicles.
@@rubenm.391 Thats why my last Audi was 2006 A8.No turbos,no FSI, timing belt at front of the engine.
It's about time we get to see it! You only hinted at it a couple weeks ago. Get that thing back up here, I'm looking forward to see what you do with it! Don't flip it!
Without sam this would've been 5 episodes😂😂
Some of your "cows" are bulls or steers, which means that they're all cattle, not cows.
between the two of you the amount of knowledge is impressive
