    Thank you very much. That was exactly what was wrong with mine! Reconnected the black power wire, and all my doors would lock, and windows would roll down!

      Awesome! I hate that happened but I’m glad this video helped! Those wires are a pain to get to, but worth it to save some money and frustration. Thanks for the positive feedback!

      @StephenRamsey no worries man. They weren't as much of a pain as it was not having the ability to use my remote or the windows and lock on that door. The drivers side was kinked and almost broken a well so both doors got splices.

    I ripped the inside panel off in about five minutes to get to the issue. Destroyed it in the process, but was a quick and easy job. Now I just need to know the fix for the right window to work again. I don't care if the controls on the right side work.. in fact, that whole interior panel is going in the dumpster... control from driver's side would be all i need. Thnx in advance!

    My windows, mirrors and locks don't work from any door.
    The passenger door lock works but that's it.
    2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
    Is it a wire or a fuse or what?
    What do I need to fix

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  2 роки тому +2

      If you’ve checked the fuses then pull back on those accordion style wire protectors in every door. If there’s a security(black) wire or sometimes another random wire that’s damaged or broken, it can affect all of those. It’s just a really bad design and with those doors being open and shut so many times, especially with an older vehicle after they’ve become brittle, that’s typically where the issue is within the door jams.

      @@StephenRamsey thank you, I'm no mechanic.
      But out of necessity I need to do it to save money. I assume I disconnect battery before hand.
      But what kind of wire connector do I need, assuming female to female, not sure what it's called (wire clamp connection?) And what size wire connector?
      Sorry for all the questions 😅 but I really need to fix this before it gets worse.
      Last night the overhead lights are now turning on with the first click of the speedometer lights that you twist next to the headlights dial on left side of steering wheel.
      Before the inside top lights in Jeep would not turn on on any setting but last, but now to even raise brightness of the dash lights and speedometer it forces me to drive with inside lights on. Very strange.
      P.S. before the windows stopped working they only worked if I had driver side door closed. I figured had something to do with the wires you said. But figured I'd at least mention that
      And the windows not working is killing me with 100° here in Missouri

      @@CameronDC-Grimes once you get into those protective coverings, if you locate any damaged wires you should simply be able to strip some of the rubber coating off, twist the wires together and use some electrical tape to cover them up. You can get more technical than that, but electrical tape will do the trick. If there are damaged wires under the steering wheel behind that plastic paneling (which is possible from rodents and stuff if you live in the country) then those should be easy fixes as well.

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  2 роки тому +1

      @@CameronDC-Grimes also, totally your call on disconnecting the battery. Unless you
      Cross 2 wires that shouldn’t be crossed (it’s just matching color to color) then you shouldn’t do any damage and it shouldn’t shock you in any way. It’s also easier to text once you put wires back together, turn the key and then test.

      @@StephenRamsey okay thank you. So would the clamp connector be more advised since it does break from normal use of the door?
      What are those clamp connectors called and what size do I get. What size on a wire stripper tool 🔧 would I use in your opinion

    How do you put back on the sleeve

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  6 місяців тому +1

      If it didn’t tear when you slid it up, it should simply slide up the cable so that you can unclip the wire from the sensor and then remove the sensor. Then just reverse those steps when you have your new sensor in place. I hope that helped some.

      @@Ggllg2323 of course! I honestly thought I was replying to another video, my apologies. If you have a small curved pick tool, try to get it under the edge and as you push it back up on there, run it carefully around the edge and guide it with your fingers and it should slide back around all the way. I had a couple comments to reply to which I’m very grateful for!

    Iv been driving my 2006 keep with only driver side window and lock working for 3 years. All other doors windows/locks don’t work. I finally brought it in to mechanic and they couldn’t fix it. Sails I needed entire passenger side module ? Only thing you can’t find them anymore.

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  Рік тому

      I had an 05 when they changed models and those can be very finicky. Check the wires going to each door inside of the jams, unplug your driver door module, hit the lock and unlock with you inside and turn the key to the on position and see if you can roll any of the others down by their modules and see if you get any signal from those. You may have to get a test light out and check the other modules to see if you have power to the main wire that leads to them. It’s a lot of work, but cheaper to check it yourself if you have the know how! Send an update when you have one please and good luck!

      It could be a similar issue or it could be something else fuse/relay related on something that new being that there are so many other sensors and electrical components on newer models.

      I appreciate the information on what worked for you David and what may have worked for others. However, with mine having damaged wires, unfortunately for me a simple battery reconnect would not have worked so I had to repair those wires to actually regain full circuit and power back to them. Again I hope yours was an easy fix and I hope you'd consider subscribing to help build my channel and allow me to provide more content over time, especially automotive content. Thanks for stopping by and take care!~

    • @StephenRamsey
      @StephenRamsey  Рік тому

      I’d have to agree that it wasn’t one of my best videos years back and I’ve learned from that. However, I did show where to start looking for damaged wires which is usually the cause of all of those issues. Simply pull those black, rubber accordion covers back and check to see what wires are damaged. Which in turn, someone’s issue may be behind the actual door cart versus where the door jam is. With these models, usually it’s under that cover in the door jam. Once you find the damaged wire, just cut it, strip the ends, use a but connector and crimp them together. Before you crimp them, just twist them together and see if it fixes your issue. If it doesn’t, you’ll have to keep searching and tracing wires. It’s usually a black or white wire that’s damaged that helps your security system respond to the ECM. I take the criticized comment as productive, but it doesn’t hurt to simply ask what I ultimately did to resolve it since I didn’t include it in this short video, I don’t mind responding in as much depth as I can to help. If you have any other questions, just ask, and I hope you find what’s causing your issue.
