Thank you Brother... I watched your video at 11:30 this morning...went got the part, found a mechanic and now my window is fixed...under $200-- thanks to you 🥰 (African Woman here...hence the hearts 😇🤣)
Methyl Hydrate often works great to dissolve adhesives, but not every kind. It's also pretty safe; when I worked in auto collision repair, we had great results with residue from stickers, clear vinyl film from lower doors and rockers, and pretty much any vinyl graphics or wraps. And it never attacked automotive paint, but I've seen weird stuff happen with enamels though.
Thanks brother... Danny with a cable jam issue as we speak. I disassembled and realized it was cable driven, and decided to do some online research before proceeding...bout to remove and repair if possible😁
A big suction cup, or two or three small ones, wedged in the bottom of the window opening will hold your window in place without the mess. Good vid :) Need to know info for my old WJ
my WJ brother I Sam the Cannon man say use zippo fluid will take that adhesive off. dab it on with a rag , let it soak , then wipe with a green scouring pad. a huge cannon salute from your Canadian WJ brother!
Scrub with Little bit of Dawn liquid+hot water then wipe dry and put some sort of oil or hair oil (ask a chick)and rub it off with an old cloth. Should ball up like bits chewing gum.
Thanks! I basically just had this exact same issue, window goes down on its own. I can hear the motor working but window isn't going up. I now have a better idea of what its going to take to fix it.
I've had to do a few of these too. They all broke in the same way, the end of the cable snapped the plastic post on the carrier and R-U-N-N-O-F-T. I figured replacements would just break in the same way- So my fix was to drill a hole in the carrier and put a machine screw and nut to hold the cable in place. The hardest part was untangling the slack cable from the motor pulley and getting it tensioned right again.
Best I found for getting rid of tape or sticker adhesive residue is something we all probably have around..........WD-40. Spray some on and let set for a bit and spray some on a rag and start going at it and it will loosen and come up easily. Clean up with a little alcohol afterwards.
I had to do a window on my wj I removed the tape mess with turtle wax label and sticker remover works really good 👍but I used a pair of vise grips that held the window up too
When mine failed on the road instead of tape I used a U clamp on the track that I was lucky enough to just randomly have in my tool bag... I'm guessing a small vice grip or any other kind of clamp would work also.
Dawn dish soap and a glass scraper. Unless you want to mess with solvent and crap left on your glass, to clean up later. Then use wd40, it dissolves the adhesive or goo be gone. But as a glass cleaner dawn always works and easy clean up.
Awesome video! I have an 04 and my back right window will go down, but not back up, do you think it’s the regulator in that window? When I try the master switch on driver side I hear a click on the passenger door like the circuit stops there and doesn’t go to the back right window?
I use Zippo fluid to get moderate glue or tape residue off of glass then wipe with water or alcohol. If there are tiny bits left over I use 000 steel wool.
The best tape to hold a window up is Blue painters tape. However it works best if you wrap it around the door frame lengthwise (tape on inside window around door frame tape on outside of window). Pulls off easily and without residue.
1999-2004 is WJ 1998 is still of the ZJ variety 😅 Clear tape works best for the glass as I put a strip on the top inside and over the window frame and it holds perfect until you can get a regulator . Also works on Town and Country vans too .
Ron sons lighter fluid works great for adhesive removal and also to remove chewing gum from seats and carpets also takes grease out of clothes the Napter is the same dry cleaner use
I don't know who the mental giant was behind the design of the passenger side regulator but I'm pretty sure I could afford to fix many, if not all of problems, including the passenger side windows of my beater '05 Chevy Colorado 4X4 pickup which take going up and down in what we here the South call "fits" if had had your experience and opened a little "Jeep WJ Windows Fixed Here" shop....Currently both windows are in full "fit mode" and refuse to go down. But back to WJs....I would think it a safe bet if I said I had seen well over a hundred WJs on the road over the years with (usually black) trash bags taped (with 100mph/duct tape) over the gaping passenger side window or windows. Now I strongly suspect I know what the problem was and how it could be fixed.
Going camping always breaks my vehicles, either my ford seats rip more, my dodge seat regulator passenger side completely explodes (not while camping), or i break myself
Thank you Brother...

Thanks exactly what i was searching for! Did it myself!
My jeep has had this issue for a while. Thanks! I'm just learning how to take care of my vehicles at 30.
Use goo-b-gone. Citrus based. Good stuff get that adhesive off!
And they sell it at the dollar tree! $$$
It’s petroleum distillate/ether alcohol/polymer solvent based with orange extract for scent… the citrus is not doing the heavy lifting lol
Where that hoodie come from its sick
Love the MacGyver approach!
WatchJrGo just bought a clean 4 liter WJ. You should get it lol
Just had to do that last week my 99 Cherokee
Love the junkyard videos and great info your guys be dropping…more junkyard vids
Fascinating, interesting, and informative. Thank you sir for teaching me
I’ve used WD-40 to get the tape sticky loose and use rubbing alcohol for the residual mung….Good Video, Thanks!!
Thank you for the video...the exact issue on the same window.

Excellent video! I wish you'd done a 2012 Liberty.
so, those were the wj window clips ;)
Very enjoyable. Far too complicated for me. Well done.
I used carb and choke cleaner to remove stickers from my back glass. Worked like a charm.
I always use paint thinners for glue removal, or a house brick is quicker. lol
my WJ brother I Sam the Cannon man say use zippo fluid will take that adhesive off. dab it on with a rag , let it soak , then wipe with a green scouring pad. a huge cannon salute from your Canadian WJ brother!
Goo gone is the answer
Scrub with Little bit of Dawn liquid+hot water then wipe dry and put some sort of oil or hair oil (ask a chick)and rub it off with an old cloth. Should ball up like bits chewing gum.
He said he couldn’t find it
Thanks! I basically just had this exact same issue, window goes down on its own. I can hear the motor working but window isn't going up. I now have a better idea of what its going to take to fix it.
Thank you, I did tht quicker then anticipated
Goo Gone!
B12 chemtool. Keep bottle on the shelve. Takes any adhesives off quickly, and does great with tint adhesives
Thanks Douglas 👌👍💪
Thanks for the video. What do you call the rubber feel like liner behind the panel? I'm replacing the window regulator. Thanks.
My cleaner of choice is acetone. 😎👍

Nice fix. 😊 I know WD40 will help immensely when removing window tint. Not sure about that adhesive but worth a try?
I like your helpful tips on reinstalling the regulator… my weathershield crumbled in a million pieces… junk yard not a solution… any other fix?
I had to do a window on my wj I removed the tape mess with turtle wax label and sticker remover works really good 👍but I used a pair of vise grips that held the window up too
Are those tan window switches I've never seen those I'm going to have to find some of those at the yard to spruce up my tan interior
Not goof off but goo gone. Goof off is for paint, goo gone is for adhesive
You can actually just leave those metal clips in and push the ball end into it
Love your freestyle illustration and ebonics. SLAMAZON 😂😂😂 SUBED 👍
When mine failed on the road instead of tape I used a U clamp on the track that I was lucky enough to just randomly have in my tool bag... I'm guessing a small vice grip or any other kind of clamp would work also.
Found my problem, TY

How can I put the window back up for now? Just so snow doesn’t get in while I wait on parts

Acetone?
Thank you ❤!
I got a 92 jeep I need to replace both motors windows in my jeep. Does it take the same motor

Good morning I have a2002jeep grand Cherokee window won't go up or down how much a job like that would cost?
WD-40 usually gets most adhesives off. Either spray it into a paper towel or directly on the area.
Literally just did a window regulator assembly on my neighbors car yesterday lol
Wd40 for the tape residue.
1999-2004 is WJ 1998 is still of the ZJ variety 😅 Clear tape works best for the glass as I put a strip on the top inside and over the window frame and it holds perfect until you can get a regulator . Also works on Town and Country vans too .

Wd40 and a razor blade, or a plastic razor blade for painted surfaces and like there of
The Porque why you no stay. Ive never related more bro 😂😂😂
Acetone work great
Rule #1 never leave home with out your main toolkit. I learned the hard way just like this once before. Never will I go anywhere with out my toolkit.
U should of Used a 2x4 to hold up the window until u got home to fix it works every time I did it more then once
I bought a regulator off Amazon and it didn't fit at all. Learned my lesson and bought the next one from rock auto
I’ve often used straight gasoline or kerosene to get adhesives off. Works 80% of the time, every time
Melaleuca oil is THE BEST for removing sticky stuff! Even pitch comes off your hands. No more gasoline 😂
12:20
Lil bit of rubbing alcohol and a good razor.
Spray window cleaner on the window and used razor blade and or use Mr. clean Magic eraser
Lighter fluid will remove all that glue from the duct tape. Way better than alcohol.
Wd40 helps get duck tape stuff off of windows
My kid slammed the car door and the window went off the tracks. This feels beyond me to do but I may try it.
You got this! Follow this vid and hmu if you run into any issues. My email is dandeoffroad@gmail.com
I think I used acetone when I had this exact issue... i used gorilla tape... big mistake.

OTO -Quick Degreaser(chemical) or goo-gone
Dont use tape keep a wood wedge I'm your car so if it happens use that or a screw driver to hold it up
pb blaster try that
I would use brake cleaner on the tape
Going camping always breaks my vehicles, either my ford seats rip more, my dodge seat regulator passenger side completely explodes (not while camping), or i break myself
Use a rag and wd40. It will loosen and dissolve adhesive.
Just go ahead and buy the driver's side now. You'll thank me later.
Denatured alcohol will dissolve that residue
R U N N

oh brother
Wherefore art thou
Acetone
Goo Gone
Usually "always" prepared? Hmmmm.
Brake fluid on a rag.dont get on paint of course.
Soapy water in a spray bottle and a fresh razor blade. 👍
use wd40 to remove glue residue
Goo Gone or Goof Off
