Doom 3 is probably the most controversial one. A mod to eliminate the camera shake helps, but it's still pretty linear and slow compared to the other games.
So the Unmaker in Doom 64 only really shines when you upgrade it by getting the three demon keys, all found in secret levels. This process is an incredible pain in the ass but it's worth it, because a fully upgraded Unmaker just shreds the final boss (plus the demon keys let you seal the portals that bring additional enemies into that fight). Also: even though Evilution and Plutonia were originally released together as Final Doom, I think ranking them separately would make more sense, as both the Unity and Kex ports treat them as individual WADs and the two are really very different from each other. Plutonia is more cohesive, representing the creative vision of the Casali brothers; Evilution's larger number of creators, whose ideas about design didn't always fit together very well, makes it much less consistent.
Doom 2016 is my favorite. Easy to pick up, hard to master. Low skill floor, high skill ceiling. Best soundtrack of the whole franchise. Plus the multiplayer was one of the best things ive ever played, nothing revolutionary, but pure fun, and the customization was stupendous.
I put 2016 over Eternal, but not for the reasons you'd think. While Eternal's combat is perfect, 2016's barebones story and atmosphere is everything, and it's no slouch when it comes to gameplay either.
It has a perfect mix of story, atmosphere, aesthetic, and gameplay. Eternal I feel nearly perfected the gameplay, but I’m not the biggest fan of some of the other aspects like the more cartoony look.
@@kaijuslayer3334 Me thinks the cartoony look is to serve gameplay-make it less gritty so people don't puke all over the place when slaying at a rate of 100 demons a minute. 😁
Played Doom 2016 in Spring, now I'm on Eternal. Got to say I'm loving these games. The movement, combat, sfx, music and graphics whoa me everytime I boot them up. I don't understand the complaints for Eternal, the platforming and dashing are immensely fun including the chainsaw feature.

I also plan to get the DLC once I'm done with the main campaign. Time to go rip and tear nyehehe!
What I really love about doom eternal is that it genuinely felt like a complete evolution of the first person shooter and the doom franchise. It really is a game where you need to pretty much always be moving and making use of all of the tools in your arsenal. I don’t think I’ve played any of the other games on ultraviolence without maybe dropping the difficulty down but doom eternal and it’s DLC I’ve beat all of that on ultraviolence.
I’m new to this, just downloaded Doom Eternal last week. Beat it yesterday and I gotta say. This is most definitely the most fun I’ve ever had playing a game other than God Of War (all of them) and I just love Doom. I downloaded Doom 2016 as soon as I finished Eternal because I loved it so much.

Started my Doom career in Doom 2 on its release in 1994. Well I had to wait until Dec to receive it as an Xmas present. Played pretty much every Doom there's been on PC or Xbox. 🤘🏻
Yeah, I also think that Doom 2 is great and rather timeless - I mean the combat mechanics and modern maps/wads (as well as the old ones). Glad to see it being featured here on a honorable high place!:)
You did doom 64 dirty D: but to be fair putting my bias aside, yes I absolutely love the setting and aesthetics for doom 64… but it has problems and because of its obvious issues of memory limitations not only for the cartridge; which causes the missing animations for the shotguns. As well as missing enemies. The other major issue is due to hardware limitations. It could not have very high enemy counts; as a result, we end up fighting an unreasonable amount of hellknights and barons. the enemy variety in later levels becomes stale because of this. And my personal nitpick. I hate how they handled the unmaker. At level 1 the unmaker can contest against the plasma. Yes it fires slow, but the lasers are hitscan, you can shoot through bars where plasma bolts can’t. Its max damage potential per laser is 80 while the plasma bolt is 40; uses cells which is what my biggest issue is. The second you upgrade it. It completely replaces the plasma. Fully upgraded. It replaces the BFG with its DPS. Has the benefit of stun locking alot of enemies at the cost of accuracy. I wish they would have fixed these issues with kex doom 64 but oh well. Doom 3 my beloved though. If you want map set for doom 3 you can sink hours in, I’d recommend doom 3 “tested 8.1” It’s a community project so you’ll have varying quality of levels. You got some stinkers but it’s good more good things going for it. Be warned some of the custom enemy variants are on the more difficult sides (couple new surprises though)
The Doom video that needs to be made is a top 10 list of Wads that actually work on the console port. Alien Vendetta works. Going Down works but Map 27 is unplayable. Icarus: Alien Vanguard works but it really feels dated compared to most.
The main problems right now with WAD uploads are (a) people uploading GZDoom WADs, which do NOT work in the Kex port, and (b) the inclusion of GAMECONF lumps instead of UMAPINFO, because GAMECONF causes a problem with corrupted save files. What annoys me no end is two of the main Doomworld forum regulars who've taken it upon themselves to upload "Bethesda Edition" versions of WADs insist on keeping the GAMECONF lumps in there even though they know it's causing a problem, because supposedly a future update will require GAMECONF. So we have to suffer now for that?
Edit: Cyberdemon Having played through Doom 1, 2, 3, Doom 2016, and half of Doom Eternal, my favorite Doom game is Doom VFR. A lot of people whine that it isn't just 2016 dropped into VR, but the point is that Doom VFR is distinctly made for VR, including some level designs that are made with some teleportation in mind. Nice list, i still consider half life 2 to be the greatest fps of all time but doom 2's a close 2nd and the best in the series. and agreed about doom being the best fps series of all time, IT IS and will never be topped.
I'd make the argument that Doom 2's gameplay is even more dynamic than the newer ones. It has much more complexity than it first appears. The levels feel open with a ton of exploration and devious intricacy. The game itself is unpredictable, surprising, always fun and feels varied every time. Enemies roam about the levels, in silence or groaning in the background - where are they? They often get in to unusual positions. Back in the day they would startle me, now they still surprise. When a fight breaks out between demons amongst the chaos, I still laugh. You just never know how a play through a level will go. Doom 2016 and Eternal became a bit more repetitive - area lockdown, clear room, continue, still fairly linear & restrictive. The juggle glory kills and chainsaw for items dynamic kinda got old for me. I do like them, but they're still not as satisfying and well balanced as classic Doom with item placement. I kinda miss desperately hunting the level for supplies. Shotgunning an imp, watching it recoil, sliding backwards off a ledge or down some steps with a bullet hole in the head still feels good after 100,000+ times. It's immediate and immersive. Underneath it's now-charmingly basic but gorgeous sprite design and aesthetic is a simple but clever, well balanced game design. The feel and flow of movement and gunplay hasn't really been bettered. Quake 1 is also a favourite of mine. Eternal tried to go for the fast-paced chaos but became a bit overhelming - a bit too much to think about whereas in o.g. Doom you had to react and move quickly and skillfully, manage guns and ammo, but once the bullets were flying you didn't have quite so much to think about to keep the carnage flowing.
Counter-argument for the Doom 3 shotgun... the spread of the gun is absolutely horrid, and takes too long in between shots for it to be viable. You literally have to be _at_ melee range for all the bullets to hit the intended target.
Cyberdemon. While something has to be last, most of your final doom images were of tnt. Plutonia are normally quite a lot shorter levels, more memorable when you are used to the chaingunners and revenants. The fact it came out the time of quake means it was mostly overlooked at its time of release. The step up in difficulty was quite rough. Similar to episode 4 in doom1. I’m yet to play 2016 or eternal. I think your praise of the master levels is misplaced. I’ve been replaying them all for the Nightdive version and they are awful, too easy but with inescapable nukage pits. The confusion of Jim Flynn maps, the awful difficulty of cranium. I was just so happy it was over
You can say that again about the The shitty Pistol it's useless Is the worst weapon ever? I. Immediately wanna find a secret shotgun the minute I play Doom.
Doom 2016 revived the series when it was left for dead, top 1 for me. It felt the most DOOM, balancing the DOOM 3 horror aspects and the classic DOOM mechanics. Eternal elevated that gameplay but toned down the visuals and atmosphere for a lackluster story and forced playstyle.
Disagree. The story is straight 80s action nonsense with surprisingly deep lore and the playstyle I.e. the mechanics is revolutionary in its finesse. Nothing forced about that. It's just fast and complex as the natural evolution to crank the shit up
Not to tell you your business but... I'm not sure I agree. Well, when you made your ranking and from what I saw - and this is just my humble opinion - from what I saw in this video... your ranking? Not right. I wouldn't put Evilution and Plutonia in the same place, even tho they are both in Final Doom, they are so different. Also, Master Levels should get it's own last place, not put next to Doom 2 which got first, lol. If you don't want so many places, understandably, I would put Final Doom in Doom 2's category, considering it adds "nothing new" to it. Legacy of Rust deserves to be a separate entry, it has new weapons and new monsters.
I'll try to correct your list: 1. Doom 1993 - best 2. Doom eternal 3. Doom 3 4. Doom 2 5. Doom 2016 - worst Final doom/doom 64 and the rest: these are just dlcs and spin-offs, I think they can be ignored.
@@kevinfromsales9445 Doom 2016 - has the worst game design of all doom games. Almost every aspect of the game has many flaws. The technical part, combat, level design, visuals, plot, interface, even the name are made at a terrible level. The game is good if you play it once and forget about it.
@@jk-bj9mu I'm not the biggest Doom fan but 2016 singlehandedly revived the series which was long dead after Doom 3. I'm curious as to why you placed Eternal so much higher than 2016 because that game is definitely worse in almost every aspect including but not limited to the Doomguy being changed to slayer a huge disrespect to the fans, heavy story narrative which no one cared for, forced platforming and puzzles in a boomer shooter franchise what is this Metroid Prime? and enemies dropping all kinds of colorful candy powerups and ammo it's just a really silly game, still good but a huge disappointment after the amazing 2016. But thats just my opinion.
@@kevinfromsales9445 Because doom eternal is a close to ideal game (doom 1 is an absolutely ideal game). All the problems that you called are "spoiled lore" and platforming. Nobody spoiled the lore. On the contrary. With the release of Doom eternal, the authors answered all questions of the plot and made it more brutal. It became several times more pleasant for me to play DE simply because I play as a self-confident gigachad who evolved to the level of a god with a thirst for revenge. Platforming only makes the game more exciting. Thanks to platforming, the game does not slow down even outside of battles.
1-Doom (2016) - THE GOAT - Revival of the franchise, atmosphere surpassed only by the title below, everything here is perfect. 2-Doom 3 - Despite being a more truncated experience, the title is the height of the franchise in terms of atmosphere and fear. 3-Doom Eternal - Greatly enriches the franchise's lore and is the height of image of the Slayer's legendary, but at the cost of too many colors on screen and a downgrade to the sinister atmosphere. 4-Doom 2 - Doom 1 improved, impossible to place it below 1 if your criteria is not limited to innovation in the videogames market. 5-Doom (1993) - THE SEMIGOAT - Start everything. 6-Brutal Doom - I thought it was fair to put a mod here, spectacular work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7-Doom 64 - Just as I thought it was fair to put the worst, most limited, and disconnected Doom from the mainline in comparison to the others. I almost hate this Doom. It's almost a non-Doom.
I don't think Minecraft Needs a movie, u know where the point is a storyline with a constant direction, where an audience have an understanding of the protagonist, and those things, and give or take quite a few other aspects, of course, are some primary points of a well made (as it were) movie, and Minecraft thrives as a video game, and Not a book or a movie, is because of the vaguery of the Minecraft gaming experience. Thanks for listening
Nope, and I love Doom 3. If classic Doom gets a full 10, Doom 3 gets a solid 9. Doom 3's gameplay fits the tone well, but sometimes (most times) you want to be the one scaring the demons away.
I love Doom 93 & Doom 3 about equal for different reasons. I love the visuals of the original, I love the sprites, the sound effects & the music and gameplay. Just a fun shoot end up with great controls, enemies and level design. I feel the same way about 3. 3 is more realistic & more scary but I love everything about it as well. I don't believe Doom 3 deserves as much hate as it gets. It's an amazing game
Translation into English: I couldn't figure out the mechanics of doom eternal, because I like games where 80% of the mechanics are useless (doom 2016).
@@jk-bj9mu Wack take. Some people just want to use the weapons that they want to use and not the specific weapon/attachment that the game forces you to use.
@@bigimp3018 Yeah it does. You always have to use specific weapons and mods for the weak points of the enemies. You can't just run around with a super shotgun and gib everything
The music in D64 is WAAAAAAY better than the original music. The original music is naff, but doom 64 brings the horror and makes you feel like you're playing in hell - Like the Playstation version before it (so it's not actually unique to D64)
Jesus bro, this is such a treat ! I might think I maybe had something to do with this one lolz 😅. Anyway I finished doom 2016 3 times and Eternal 2 times and I am currently playing all the older games, I got Doom 3 on game pass and the collection on PS5. So I admire some things about 2016 more because it was more grounded and the simplicity of it, however eternal is overall the better game imho because of the length, boss fights and just overall a super fun and complex FPS with non stop action. I think it is one the best fps ever made along with BL2, Quake 2, Half life 2 and Fallout 4. Thanks ! ❤
Doom Eternal is so hypeeee just heavy drum rolls when your bouncing around arenas chain saw-flamethrower-glory killlll 😂 Gonna go play Doom II and Doom Eternal now!
From the perspective of someone who has played Doom since the old days: 7. Eternal: Dull, garbage, story-heavy, not at all what Doom should be. 6. Doom2016, aka NuDoom: Slightly better than Eternal's trash but still trash. The two games are what happens when you marry garbage modern FPS and the "only fun for 5 minutes" Brutal Doom mod. 5. Doom 3: Also not Doom, more like Resident Evil: Mars, still better than NuDoom. 4. Doom 64: Absolute garbage on the N64 because of the controller but I'm ignoring that one, much better on the PC. There's a huge quality gap between this and Doom 3. 3. Doom II: Map quality takes a huge dive in this one over the original but it's still great 2: Final Doom: Doom for experienced players, very good map quality, very good everything, 2x32 levels of awesome 1. Doom/Ultimate Doom: The original and the absolute best. Nothing beats the quality and the visceral fun of this one. Nothing. Best FPS game ever. Hell, probably best game ever.
Your the only pwrson i agree with here. Everytome i play 2016 i just get this feeling like "why isnt this fun?" Also with the new dooms all the demons are the same shade of brown. It all looks like identical brown blurs whennyou sre fighting. The original dooms were nice because eavh enemy had unique silhouettes and colors.
I always felt that while DOOM 3 felt so different from every other game in the series. It makes perfect sense it turned out that way when you consider how much Id and John Carmack loved pushing technology back in the day. The lighting was the big cool thing about the DOOM 3 engine, so yeah make it a slower paced horror game this time.

I think your praise of the master levels is misplaced. I’ve been replaying them all for the Nightdive version and they are awful, too easy but with inescapable nukage pits. The confusion of Jim Flynn maps, the awful difficulty of cranium. I was just so happy it was over
My favorite is Doom 2, I love modding it a ton. But second, is definitely Doom 3. I don't care what anyone says, I love that game.
You can say that again about the The shitty Pistol it's useless Is the worst weapon ever? I.
Immediately wanna find a secret shotgun the minute I play Doom.
Here's my list:
1. Doom (2016)
2. Doom (1993)
3. Doom II:Hell on Earth
4. Doom Eternal
5. Doom 3 + Resurrection of Evil
6. Doom 64
7. Final Doom
Gee, now I want to play DOOM! Any of them! (LOL)
The best DooM Games I've ever played are Speed of Doom and Estranged. 🙂
It's just fast and complex as the natural evolution to crank the shit up
@@kiryukazuma7960 you could technically still use one gun to kill the demons
Doom Eternal makes 2016 completetly obsolete.
@@georgelabauve not very rewarding though is it? The game goes too much into the breakdancing on the kayboard to get results.
@@matrix255 soundtrack, ambience, graphical fidelty, level design, 2016 has Eternal beat in many areas and vice versa.
You’d have liked the DOOM 64 UnMaykr better if you found the demon keys! XD 🤣 🤣
But I’m just teasing you. Those secret levels were ESOTERIC tier!
the multiplayer in 2016 was amazing!! way better than eternal
Nice, Doom its legendary bro, my list:
1 - Doom 2
2 - Final Doom (TNT and Plutonia)
3 - Doom 1
4 - Doom Eternal
5 - Doom 3
6 - Doom 64
7 - Doom 2016
Doom 2016 at 7 is absolutely diabolical
This is one of the worst lists I’ve ever seen
@@randy2152 yeah for sure
Doom 2016>Doom 64>Doom II>Doom Eternal>Doom3
Eternal kicks ass but I stopped playing it for a while and trying to get back into was a bit tiring. Doom 2016 easy as fuck to jump right back in
Here we fucking go
1:27 😭😭 (cyberdemon 😁)
DOOM is awesome the only fps series I'd rank above it is Quake
My top 3 fps games list would be
3. DOOM 2
2. QUAKE
1. QUAKE 2
25:24 i feel bad that you play doom in 60 fps...
Here's my ranking based on interest:
7: Final Doom
6: Doom 64
5: Doom 3
4: Doom Eternal
3: Doom II: Hell on Earth
2: Doom (2016)
1: Doom (1993)
I'll try to correct your list:
1. Doom 1993 - best
2. Doom eternal
3. Doom 3
4. Doom 2
5. Doom 2016 - worst
Final doom/doom 64 and the rest: these are just dlcs and spin-offs, I think they can be ignored.
2016 worst? what lol
1. Doom 2016
2. Doom 1993
3. Doom Eternal
4. Doom 3
5. Doom 2
We all have different priorities.
Mine:
1 Doom eternal
2 Doom
3 Doom 2016
4 Doom 3
5 Doom 2
I don't dislike any of them.
But, but, i like Doom 2016 multiplayer 😢
1.Doom 64
2.OG Doom
3.i don't care about the rest
Tetris. Tetris has been ported and sold more than Doom. Sonic the Hedgehog? Tsk…
Doom 3 need Remester

Playing all kinds of awesome mods brutel doom probably the best
The worst DOOM game is still a great game
No such thing. None is "worst"

#1 Brutal Doom
#2 Doom 64

#4 Doom II
#5 Doom Eternal
#6 Doom 1993
#7 Doom 3
Doom Eternal is my favorite. I love that soundtrack so much. I can't wait for the third game.
Doom 2 is categorically the worst 😂
Doom 64 . End of discussion

1. Doom eternal
2. Doom 2016
CYBERDEMON!!!
Doom II is one of the greatest games of all time. Practically flawless level design from top to bottom.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7-Doom 64 - Just as I thought it was fair to put the worst, most limited, and disconnected Doom from the mainline in comparison to the others. I almost hate this Doom. It's almost a non-Doom.
Doom 3 at 2 is criminal but I respect the opinion
Everyone has their own opinions.
The only thing i would argue is that Final Doom is not a game on its own but an expansion pack to Doom and Doom 2
Nah doom 3 is the worst just look at it
Doom Eternal
Doom 2016
Doom 1993
Doom 2
Doom 64
Doom 3
Is that worst to best or best to worse
I really hope Master Chief vs Doom Slayer wins the new Death Battle rematch.
It's probably mewtwo vs shadow as that one has sonic 3 hype along with shadow generations hype
Doom Eternal is one of the worst games I've ever played. Absolute GARBAGE game.

People give Doom Eternal way too much praise
Lets be honest, DOOM 3 is better then the old ones from 90s. Do not len nostalgia tell you otherwise.
Doom 3 is the only game in the whole franchise I couldn't finish because of how boring it was
doom 3 is another realm within doom, the artifacts and temples show og doom slayer
Best to worst for me is
doom 1 and 2
Doom 64
Doom 3
Doom 2016
Doom eternal
Never played the rpgs for doom just seen them on videos
Doom 2016 >>> Doom Eternal
Translation into English: I couldn't figure out the mechanics of doom eternal, because I like games where 80% of the mechanics are useless (doom 2016).

Thanks ! ❤
16:55 Rayman 2 must be pretty close too. There are a lot of Rayman 2 ports

Doom Eternal is so hypeeee just heavy drum rolls when your bouncing around arenas chain saw-flamethrower-glory killlll 😂 Gonna go play Doom II and Doom Eternal now!
From the perspective of someone who has played Doom since the old days:
3. Doom II: Map quality takes a huge dive in this one over the original but it's still great
2: Final Doom: Doom for experienced players, very good map quality, very good everything, 2x32 levels of awesome
