Fallout 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV are good games but they have been held back by the passage of time. 16 years later, LittleBigPlanet still holds up strong.

Half-Life should have beat Ocarina of Time IMO. There is always a console bias with these awards, though. Goldeneye winning is proof positive of this. Quake 2 sh!ts on Goldeneye snd has aged infinitely better.
Exactly. Both QUAKE 2 and TUROK came out 1997, the same year as Goldeneye 007, and they both blew the doors off Goldeneye 007, being technological marvels for the time, and vastly superior both technologically wise and gameplay wise. Plus, QUAKE 2 and TUROK have aged like wine compared to Goldeneye 007, and remain two of the best FPS games ever made. QUAKE 2 or TUROK deserves 1997 GOTY over Goldeneye 007. Furthermore, Unreal and Half-Life both came out in 1998, which were both technical marvels of the time, and to this day, two of the best FPS games of all time, and make Ocarina of Time look dated in comparison, and have aged like wine as well. Half-Life or Unreal should have won GOTY 1998. Good to see an honest person who has their gaming facts and history down. 👍🏻👏🏻💯🔥⚡️💪🏻
My version of GOTY (DICE Awards) 1997-2024: 1997 - Final Fantasy VII 1998 - The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time 1999 - Soul Calibur 2000 - Diablo II 2001 - Silent Hill 2 2002 - Metroid Prime 2003 - Star Wars:Knights of the Old Republic 2004 - Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater 2005 - Shadow of the Colossus 2006 - Ōkami 2007 - Halo 3 2008 - Persona 4 2009 - Uncharted 2:Among Thieves 2010 - Red Dead Redemption 2011 - Portal 2 2012 - Far Cry 3 2013 - The Last of Us 2014 - Dark Souls II 2015 - Bloodborne 2016 - Uncharted 4:A Thief's End 2017 - The Legend of Zelda:Breath of the Wild 2018 - God of War IV 2019 - Resident Evil 2 Remake 2020 - Ghost of Tsushima 2021 - Deathloop 2022 - Elden Ring 2023 - The Legend of Zelda:Tears of the Kingdom 2024 - Final Fantasy VII:Rebirth
Man if a video from your channel wasn't a treat this time of the day, I have played a bunch of those games and even though Skyrim was once my favourite game I am starting to feel like it's getting a bit hard to come back to these days, some of its elements are rather outdated, I still love it though as I really love hades also which I quite recently played.
Skyrim was only 3 years after fallout 3 which in turn was only 2 years after oblivion..now its 13 since skyrim..why does it take so much longer now to make good games? I thought 2007 was my fav year in games ..the orange box,cod mw,bioshock ,halo3..
Shark. I hadn't heard of the DICE Game Awards before this video but now that I have I wish that I hadn't. Their choices for nominees in general are absolutely awful and I didn't end up agreeing with many of their GOTY picks either. Untitled Goose Game nominated and winning over Sekiro is a fucking joke, and Angry Birds HD nominated over my favorite game of all time, Super Mario Galaxy 2, made me want to find their headquarters and commit unspeakable acts of rage. What a bunch of clowns, Geoff Keighly's game awards might be a huge advertising fest but at least they choose actually good nominees and pretty agreeable GOTY winners. As always though, your ranking of them was pretty good.
Oooh you want to get me heated about Overwatch? Ok then let’s do it 😈 I LOVED the original Overwatch. I mean seriously I had about 70 hours played on Reaper ALONE, and that’s just 1 of the 21 heroes that the original game launched with. A paid game with free content updates all the time and an amazing development team kept the game going strong for years. Then what do they do? They FUCK it ALL UP with Overwatch 2. Blizzard: appointed a new head of the overwatch team after Jeff Kaplan (the GOAT) quit. They changed direction from their original plan and started creating hype around a new PVE mode that would later turn into false promises. They then scrapped the PVE mode a YEAR before launch and launched OW2 anyways with the hype that it was still coming. And then months after the game came out Blizzard admitted that they knew the PVE mode wasn’t coming to the game for literally a whole year. So they basically pulled a bait and switch on the fanbase and I got really sick of the bullshit and lies. And on top of that in the process of everything they replaced the original game with 2 which is inferior in every single way to the original besides a slight graphical upgrade. There was ZERO reason to release Overwatch 2, the ONLY reason they did it was to change the business model from loot boxes to an overpriced cosmetic shop that every single other game uses. It was a money scheme ever since they knew PVE was canceled which is why it’s deleted from my console and I’m not playing it ever again unless they change their direction entirely and actually release a huge PVE mode and make the shop less egregious. Back in 2016 when it won GOTY I was really happy for it since I adored the original. But the 2nd game? It belongs in the trash…
It think these awards are terrible, too many times the best game didn't win. It's criminal not to put witcher 3 or bloodborne as GOTY for example. For all the hate Jeff gets, I feel the GOTY goes to the best game
Currently, this is my favorite game of each year, starting with 1980: 1980: Pac-Man 1981: Galaga 1982: Dig Dug 1983: Ultima III: Exodus 1984: Tetris 1985: Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar 1986: Castlevania 1987: Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished - Omens 1988: Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny 1989: Ducktales 1990: Super Mario World 1991: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 1992: Ultima VII: The Black Gate 1993: Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium 1994: System Shock 1995: Chrono Trigger 1996: Duke Nukem 3D 1997: Blood 1998: Thief: The Dark Project 1999: Planescape: Torment 2000: Deus Ex 2001: Super Smash Bros. Melee 2002: Metroid Prime 2003: Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne 2004: Half-Life 2 2005: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory 2006: Ys Origin 2007: Odin Sphere 2008: Valkyria Chronicles 2009: Left 4 Dead 2 2010: Mass Effect 2 2011: Portal 2 2012: Dishonored 2013: Rayman Legends 2014: Shovel Knight 2015: Bloodborne 2016: Persona 5 2017: Hollow Knight 2018: Dusk 2019: Disco Elysium 2020: Doom Eternal 2021: Psychonauts 2 2022: Elden Ring 2023: Blasphemous 2
Holy hell, love the content but damn you need to start writing scripts because within the first two games mentioned, you repeated yourself so many times, it makes so hard to sit through.
Red Dead Redemption 2 really should have won in 2018. I thought the storyline and gameplay were way better than God of War. God of War 2018 felt like it was trying to be like The Last of Us and also has you fight the same troll like 10 times. Arthur Morgan and the realistic gameplay of Rdr2 was just something else, idk to me it's no contest what's the better game.
Goldeneye 007 was a great game for 1997, but TUROK and QUAKE 2 also came out in 1997, which blew the doors off Goldeneye 007 back then, both gameplay wise and technical/technologically wise. Furthermore, TUROK and QUAKE 2 also aged much better, and were ahead of their time compared to Goldeneye 007, which was already behind the standards at the time of release. My evidence for QUAKE 2 being the rightful GOTY for 1997 is a little game called Unreal (1998), which was the most technically advanced game of 1998, and was literally created to be a QUAKE killer, not the Goldeneye 007 killer, because QUAKE 2 was the standard, while Goldeneye 007 was not the standard, and didn't deserve GOTY. When you have played QUAKE 2 or TUROK in 1997, then Goldeneye 007 isnt so amazing for 1997 anymore. So, I think QUAKE 2 or TUROK should have gotten the 1997 GOTY award. As for 1999, you had Unreal Tournament (1999) and QUAKE 3: ARENA, which were the standards of the time in every conceivable way. Both were cutting edge technologically and gameplay-wise, and the brand new dedicated arena shooter genre was born that year, which was fresh and at the highest point of popularity during that time. Both Unreal Tournament and QUAKE 3 ARENA are still amazing to play today and aged well. The Sims didn't deserve GOTY 1999 when you had those 2 monsters back in 1999.
TLOU is so overated, like really I don't understand the hype. Gameplay is so repetitive and boring. And on the hardest difficulty there's so many bugs, and controls are clunky
@BasedDoomSlayer yes of course I, am talking about my time experience and comparing it with elder scrolls also that i have a different opinion In that one
@@alexcrock7942 Like I said, some people like Fallout, some people like Elder Scrolls, some people like both of them, and some people like one more than the other. While someone may love Elder Scrolls, other people may like Fallout more, and some even may not like Elder Scrolls at all. It all comes down to preferences at the end of the day. For example, some people think Halo is the best thing ever, while I think it's one of the most overrated series of all time. It's a great game, but people make it out to be more amazing than it actually is, in my opinion (When you have played every great FPS game since 1991, then Halo is not that amazing anymore). So, to each their own.

Indeed. DOOM ETERNAL easily deserves GOTY for 2020 over something like Hades. I just can't take these dice awards seriously.
What does "convience" mean?
I agree with the Top 14 but I think the rest should've been;

Fair enough my sir :)
Good choices! I like the shoutouts to Returnal and Final Fantasy X, my goty as well in their respective years.
@@ernestjanzen6809 Returnal is prolly the most underrated game ever to me. The combat is literally perfect, and what a modernized 3D Metroid game should play like.

2022: God of War: Ragnarok
2023: Baldur's Gate 3
I only agreed with DICE Awards 2 times, lolz.
~ Let's see if someone else can reach a lower bar.
Kinda cheating, as I didn’t play many games before 2005, but

2006: Bully
2007: God of War 2
2008: Left 4 Dead
2009: Uncharted 2

2021: Returnal
2022: GOW: Ragnarok
2023: Ghostrunner 2
Only two games
How on earth did Re4 not get a mention at least???
Didn’t know hades won GOTY in 2020 thought that was the last of us 2. But I’m so glad it did. It was my first rouge like n I downloaded it on a random chance. Don’t even know what made me get the game???
Keep in mind this ranking uses DICE awards. The Last of Us part II actually won the game of the year of 2020
@@MoonlightShield oh they won the Jeff award 🥇.
TGA has many developers and journalists voting while the rest are just a small group.
Fallout 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV are good games but they have been held back by the passage of time. 16 years later, LittleBigPlanet still holds up strong.
I know I’m late and maybe you’ve played it already but you have to play the ori games, especially if you’ve played and enjoyed something like hollow knight
Goose game is the goat and I’m so glad it won tbh
My version of GOTY (DICE Awards) 1997-2024:
1997 - Final Fantasy VII
1998 - The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time
1999 - Soul Calibur
2000 - Diablo II
2001 - Silent Hill 2
2002 - Metroid Prime
2003 - Star Wars:Knights of the Old Republic
2004 - Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater
2005 - Shadow of the Colossus
2006 - Ōkami
2007 - Halo 3
2008 - Persona 4
2009 - Uncharted 2:Among Thieves
2010 - Red Dead Redemption
2011 - Portal 2
2012 - Far Cry 3
2013 - The Last of Us
2014 - Dark Souls II
2015 - Bloodborne
2016 - Uncharted 4:A Thief's End
2017 - The Legend of Zelda:Breath of the Wild
2018 - God of War IV
2019 - Resident Evil 2 Remake
2020 - Ghost of Tsushima
2021 - Deathloop
2022 - Elden Ring
2023 - The Legend of Zelda:Tears of the Kingdom
2024 - Final Fantasy VII:Rebirth
I got over 1000 hours in destiny bout to put more once the last dlc come out this summer
20+ years ago EA sports games were actually really good.
Tbf ESO, FO4, FO76 and Starfield have released during this duration
Fallout 4 over Witcher 3 or Bloodborne ?? That’s bullshit…
I would take Fallout 4 over those two personally, but to each their own.
@ bruh
@@tommasogentile2175 It's called preferences...Bruh.
58:20 ok but seriously how does no one mention Minecraft or Terraria like wtf
Shark!❤
GTA 4 also 2008
BG3 will be my number 1
dont get me wrong. I liked untitled goose. But i had no idea it won game of the year. Its not "That" good hah
Sharks: Did you play Journey with other people online? To me that was the whole point, finding a random person and sharing the journey together.
Great Video
Fallout 4 was definitely deserved goty
Journey is a game for people who review games but would rather be reviewing movies and TV.
Sharks 😊
ZBotW over Persona 5... we have a lot of games that feel like the same that is good, but Persona we dont
43:55
Orkarina of time 😂
Baldur’s gate3 is great for watching and reading not playing. That’s it.
I would have Dark Souls over Skyrim for 2011
Oooh you want to get me heated about Overwatch? Ok then let’s do it 😈
I LOVED the original Overwatch.
Are u saying that buggy unfinished dragon age is better then shadow of mordor your a actual nutcase
dice awards have a VERY wrong taste in games lol
fallouyt 4 over witcher and goose game over sekiroa are real example
no witcher 3 on this list is just 💀
Bro is saying orcarina lol
It think these awards are terrible, too many times the best game didn't win. It's criminal not to put witcher 3 or bloodborne as GOTY for example.
For all the hate Jeff gets, I feel the GOTY goes to the best game
It feels like theyre really biased towards fps games, especially in the 2000s
2022: Chained Echoes > Elden Ring....which is a great game, but so overrated in my opinion! Sekiro>DS3>Bloodborne>Elden Ring!
2005 just should be RE4
Rank the god of war franchise

Though putting skyrim above the last of us, big respect for that one bro! That was some ballsy move and i applaud.
Littlebigplanet is way to low, it's the best platformer along side Rayman Legends.
Holy hell, love the content but damn you need to start writing scripts because within the first two games mentioned, you repeated yourself so many times, it makes so hard to sit through.
sims is not better than age of empires 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 really should have won in 2018. I thought the storyline and gameplay were way better than God of War. God of War 2018 felt like it was trying to be like The Last of Us and also has you fight the same troll like 10 times. Arthur Morgan and the realistic gameplay of Rdr2 was just something else, idk to me it's no contest what's the better game.
No one asked

It’s funny how half your rankings put Balder’s Taint > Elden Ring and the other half out Elden Ring > Balder’s Taint

This year HAS to be Astro Bot.
Fallout 4 over Witcher 3 & Bloodborne??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
Fallout 4 is 6/10 game, Witcher 3 & Bloodborne are 11/10.
I can't take these awards seriously 😐😂
I personally would take Fallout 4 over both of those. Everyone has a preference. So, to each their own.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. While you may not like it, other people do. So, to each their own.
