I had a copy of Blue version when I was young. I vividly remember going on a hot streak in the game corner then losing everything trying to chase that high. I realized then that I would become hopelessly addicted to gambling if I ever let myself indulged and haven't allowed myself to fall into that trap as an adult. Thank you pokemon for teaching me something about myself. Anyway, the slots in the game are rigged in all kinds of ways. For starters you can not win on every spin, the game decides at the beginning of a spin if it will allow you to possibly win on that attempt. Once you have all three wheels spinning you can save the game. After saving, stop all three wheels, it doesn't matter the speed you do it. If you don't hit, restore the saved game and try again. Within 3 attempts you will know if the game will let you win a payout on that spin. If you don't hit within 3 attempts, there is nothing you can do on that spin to win. If you do hit on any combo, you can restore the saved game on that "winning" spin and then you can manipulate the spin with enough restarts to always win the triple 7 jackpot. Once you get a 7 on the first wheel save, then rinse and repeat for the following wheels. Each wheel has multiple 7s. Except for the final wheel it has a single 7. However just like the game decides if you can possibly win at the start of each spin, it "weights" certain outcomes to be more likely. I picture it in my mind as each possible spin outcome having a very specific moment in which you need to press "A" for the wheel to stop on that specific character. However the game will give certain outcomes a larger window for pressing "A". Basically depending on how your first wheel lands the game will attempt to influence your final payout. But like I said with enough saves and restarts you can always force a winning spin to pay out the triple "7" jackpot. This was an explanation of the "meta" strategy someone posted on reddit, i am not nearly smart enough to work all of that out on my own, but I am stubborn enough to relentlessly test this method and can confirm it works. Now I did all of this on the pizza boy emulator so I don't know if the saving and restoring files mid spin is even possible on original GBA or if that is only possible to do on emulators. Also this only works for Kanto game corners. Fire red, leaf green, ultra violet are the games I have attempted it on. The same strategy does not seem to work in Saphire, Ruby, Emerald. Or I personally have not spent enough time experimenting with it in those games. Also as a last note, I have actually won up to 308 coins on a winning spin. It is possible to win triple "7"s across the top row with the first two wheels also having the pokeball "cherry" looking character (not sure what it's officially called) on the bottom row. That pays out 300 for the top row, 6 for the 2 "cherrys" on the bottom row, and then the "cherry" on the bottom left will pay off 3 coins for the diagonal. However I have only noticed that on ultra violet so I'm not sure if that is just a QOL change in that hack. I'm curious if anyone can confirm that. Finally if any of this has already been posted in comments I apologize, I didn't bother to check.
I had a typo in that comment 300+6+3 does not equal 308. I believe the single "cherry" payout it 2, not 3. Either way, still won 308 on a kanto payout.
Very possible tbh. I wonder if that’d still be the case if I tried this again but went no evolutions and had to run with abra / Dratini / clefairy etc all game
In the USA some gambling is OK at 18. Such as horse race betting, lottery scratchers and tickets, bingo, and that sort of thing Otherwise casino games are 21+
I feel once you're 18 you should be considered an adult and be able to do what you please in terms of drinking smoking and gambling. Enough rules laws and regulations of the small stuff
@@liquidsleepgames3661 I believe you should be adult by the age of 21. I'm sure the gonna decrease adultery to 16 and you know for which people so they won't go to prison... Yeah at 18-19 etc you can get responsibilities and handle them because in reality you are being pushed but still immature. Drinking, driving and stuff that actually puts you in risk of addiction etc should not be allowed to young age. Check society, most people become independent in their 20s. Like 23-24... Before that they might be working but still stay with their parents...
It's absolutely timing based. I'd argue there's no randomness apart from which icons appear on the slots. By paying close attention, you can see everything cycling by in a loop and hit exactly what you want. It's really hard, and I'm only somewhat good at it, but it's skill based.
The slots are timing based but also have set possible outcomes. According to my research with x0.2 speed it's either the slot stops after 1 icon or 2 icons after you press A.
As a kid in leaf green i actually learned to time the slot machines in the casino. i got 777 a lot. Since nugget cheating wasnt a thing in kanto anymore i had to gamble my way to wealth but it worked too good. I somehow had the impression that some slot machines are easier than others
When I was a little kid my brother used to make me do his slots on Pokemon gold because my timing was so good. If I remember correctly i'd almost look at the gameboy vertically when I played
i was just suggested your repel video and also ended up here. This is such a cool idea for a challenge, I would love to see you do it on other gens as well
The slots generally pay out more than you put in. It's a kid's game, so it's nearly impossible to lose all your money. It takes a while, but eventually you always come out on top. I did research into it years ago, with 300 coins I wanna say it's a 99.7% chance of hitting another jackpot before you run out, and if you manage to run out and buy another hundred coins you're way over odds on jackpot.😂 Always wanted a Porygon, it took me a couple days spinning non-stop to get it but just spin and hit a and you'll get there eventually.
Interesting concept well done on the video . I wonder if you could’ve had more restrictions on healimg items and revives felt like they carried there and were mvp .
FireRed was my first pokemon game and I spent nearly 300 hrs on one save as a kid I don't know the actual mechanics behind the mini game but here's my experience. The slots are slightly random but that's more a case of random symbols on each reel. I maxed out the game corner by watching for the 7s on each reel and timing their placements. If you ever land on a 7 it's usually just a case of timing the other two reels. I was never able to consistently get anything besides the jackpot 7s and the mini jackpot Team rocket R but those also paid out the best.
I just discovered your channel and I’m really enjoying your videos! I’m interested in watching a video with your favorite Pokémon in fire red (it’s my favorite)
My recollection on slots is that each round they determine if you *could* get a jackpot or not. So if you save state on the emulator when the machine has determined no jackpot for you, you can reload that save a hundred times and perfectly time everything and you'll never get the jackpot. However if it decides you can get a jackpot, it's partly down to timing and it also helps you a little. I can't find the video where someone tore down all the code for the machines and explained all the exact odds and at what point in each round things were determined though :/
that video would’ve been awesome to watch for this challenge, but i did also see that entire breakdown on reddit which gave me some direction and made me think there’s some sort of pre determination to the winning spins. And tbh i did notice for a lot of jackpots i got, the first 2 7’s had pretty much nothing to do with me but the third 7 coming out actually relied on my timing (at least i think lol)
I did a lot of jackpots on my phone. Some machines are defo luckier than other ones, but I didn't find switching nessacary. It's about timing and luck. I had quick load and save bound to my volume keys, so I could test spins over untill they would hit. But not every spin will give a jackpot. Although, not every winning spin will always hit. So it's a combination of timing and luck.
You should do a video on why mulch is a scam from gen 4. Not only can you only buy 1 at a time but it doesn't even save you much time when growimg berries. Damp mulch is pointless since theres a route with rain all the time. Also I heard the pokemon mystery dungeon music you should totally do some videos on Pokemon mystery dungeon! Love your content!

Playing by starting in Celadon City by using a rom hack that only does that or walk through walls to get there would be interesting. In the gen 1 games, there are different odds for different slot machines and with the Brock Through Walls glitch you can get to Celadon with only 2 battles.
Slot machines are all about timing. I can get first two sevens around 80% of the time and got 35 jackpots in an hour or so to get porygon. Worth noting though is the longer you let it spin the timing changes, that’s the tricky part. The “luckier” machines just have a better seven to not seven ratio. My machine of choice (machine at the north end of the line with the old man) has around 8 images on the first spinner, around 13 on the second, and I’d estimate just around 20 on the third, though that last one is hard to test without slowing down the game (I play on original cartridge). I’ve seen a machine with over 12 images on the first spinner with one being a seven, so they aren’t all the same ratio. Hope this information helps anyone willing to try this at home.
You probably won't see this, but I do know a bit about the game corner slots. As far as I know, the top machine in the row with the old man has the highest chance of having what's called a "winning session". You can either have a winning or losing session. A winning session will have a high chance of giving you the opportunity to win (e.g. 2 rows of Rs or 7s etc). The third row of the slots is totally skill, you can time it if you're good enough. A losing session won't give you enough of these 2 in a row situations to make your money back. Essentially, you can speed up your time on the slots by skipping through rows 1 and 2 and only focusing on row 3, since I don't believe rows 1 and 2 are skill based whatsoever. Using this knowledge I gained from a 2005 forum post, I got a porygon in about 45 minutes on the top slot machine.
yeah this is great info. I started to think that the first 2 spins don’t matter at all because they’re seemingly predetermined after all my spins because I would randomly get double 7 so often without trying and then botch the run for the third 7 lol
Did you make an exception for abra because it was a cheaper Pokémon? Otherwise, wouldn’t it have been better to capture a Clefairy at Mt Moon? Anyways, I love your videos and keep it up!
I decided on abra because it has higher encounter odds and isn’t much later to be able to pick up, and it’s the cheapest game corner Pokémon so I felt like it was the most fair pickup. And thanks, will do!
Allow me to bless you with some external hardware allowed speedrun knowledge. One gym. You need one gym, a copy of pokemon stadium 2, a game that has already reached celedon city and at least one transfer pak. . In a normal play through go to bill like normal, return to cerulean pokemon centre save tge game inside. Close the game, open your second game buy a freshwater, save in any pokemon center. . Open pokemon stadium 2 > white city > pokemon lab > pc > colour case deposit the fresh water. Switch games, withdraw fresh water. Boot your game back up. Go through the burgled house and give water to the north saffron guard. . (It doesnt save much time over rock tunnel in a run but it seems like it would have helped you get access to celedon for this challenge) . This can all be done on "specially designed digital hardware" for anyone whom it concerns. . Upon starting to actually watch this video I have realised my mistake, he's using FRLG not RGBY 😂 they changed it into a key item sadly so it can't be replicated (yes that's the reason why they changed it, it wasn't a softlock issue it was a sequence break issue)
ironically, pokemon's gambling mechanic is what warned this one off of ever gambling. The odds are so low this one always found it to be a better use of time to just grind out some cash and buy the stupid pokemon/tms. It would be especially true in newer games where you have options to boost your income like G-Max Meowth, the move Happy Hour, or Gholdengo's Make it Rain in tandem with the Amulet Coin or Luck Incense. Still wish there was a way they coulda kept the games, but oh well. Not like they were fun anyway
also, if you ever wondered why the prize corner and game corner are seperate buildings, it's because of japanese laws, iirc. In japan, you can't have a gambling facility that gives out money(also why you cant exchange your coins back for cash), and iirc you can't have them give out the prizes in the same building either, so you'd have to go next door to exchange your tokens for what you were after(or exchange those for cash at another booth a little ways away)
I’m very hyped for ZA - I don’t know about transferring though. Is there a way to transfer from emulator (that’s what I play all the older games on)? I never really dabbled much in Pokemon transfers tbh
That’s what was one of the most magical things about growing up and playing Pokemon in the early 2000s (or probably any game, but my main experiences were Pokemon) before the full takeover of the internet. About Gambling: In Real life these amshine are rigged against you. You will lose in the long run. You can get lucky for a moment, but if you play long enough, the better odds for the house will show. So Gambling is a dumb idea! In these games the slots a rigged towards your favor. If you simply play long enough, you will get more coins in the long run. So in this games Gambling is a good idea.
The running out of luck makes sense because real slot machines are rigged to only pay out the jackpot every so often. After it pays out it won't pay out again for a while. That is why you switch machines. Gen 1 slot machines have a mode where you will keep winning on the same machine multiple times in a row for a time period.
In yellow, I went to the machine closest to the door on the left side and just mashed the a button. Got to like 800 pretty quickly before I gave up. I never got a jackpot, but I got a match almost every time. (Also, I’m a minor so hehe underage gambling)
yeah, abra was the easier catch though & the least significant pokemon in terms of game corner coin price, so i figured catching one would have the least impact on the challenge🤷♂️
@@mistercbody Oh I totally understand that, but it's always a bummer to see it missed out on - mainly because it requires having a Clefairy until the Elite 4, but regardless, great video, I always thought the Game Corner prizes were a bit underwhelming outside of exactly Fire Red getting Scyther.

So you could get more of a diverse team
Well there was a way to cheese it on an emulator...each round determines if its a winning round or not...if its not a winning round no matter what u do ull never get anything...once uve determined that the round ur playing is a winning round u can load a previous save and keep trying till u hit the jackpot

Tbh ever since i played fire red lets say 2 years ago i honestly think its more so timing. Not that it matters for the method i go with. Any machine for me worked as i just buy enough coins (usually 50 is fine for me or the free ones you get cuz once you save infront of a machine you can just go for the 300) Regardless the first random factor is just getting the first two 7s. Once you do the last one is just timing, i usualy "count 1 to 3" everytime i see the 7 pass for a good minute. Its honestly easiest at the top for me cuz doing the other two id need to "offset" myself. But doing it like i did i usually got to 9999 on like i wanna say 2 hours max? I have easily sunk in so much time just to get porygon, multiple TMs and items. Like i never had some "bad machine" i dont knoe if there is one nor do i care cuz im built different and have success in anyone of them 😂

In my country (Greece) gambling is allowed once you are 21 and older. Something good this country has actually thought to do 💀
good or bad depending on your circumstances hahaha
In the USA some gambling is OK at 18. Such as horse race betting, lottery scratchers and tickets, bingo, and that sort of thing
Otherwise casino games are 21+
I feel once you're 18 you should be considered an adult and be able to do what you please in terms of drinking smoking and gambling.
@@liquidsleepgames3661at that point just cheat in rare candies, sell them and buy coins
You can easily beat the game with just Kadabra. No gambling needed
I was onboard until you didn’t condone gambling, very disappointed
i cannot tell if this is satire but i did condone gambling for those under legal gambling age

Used to play the slots during school assemblies
Your grandma sounded like she knew how to have a fun time.

As a kid in leaf green i actually learned to time the slot machines in the casino. i got 777 a lot. Since nugget cheating wasnt a thing in kanto anymore i had to gamble my way to wealth but it worked too good. I somehow had the impression that some slot machines are easier than others
Funny chance that when I found this channel anf watched the money scams, it was the same day a new upload would happen.

When I was a little kid my brother used to make me do his slots on Pokemon gold because my timing was so good.
If I remember correctly i'd almost look at the gameboy vertically when I played
i was just suggested your repel video and also ended up here. This is such a cool idea for a challenge, I would love to see you do it on other gens as well
also it cool, that you donated based on the game itself instead of views or likes or something
thanks, glad you enjoyed! more to come in the future definitely
I clicked this video because I love gambling, I've been doing it for all my life and I'm still not addicted!!!
I’m interested in watching a video with your favorite Pokémon in fire red (it’s my favorite)
thanks!! Glad you’re enjoying - more to come
My recollection on slots is that each round they determine if you *could* get a jackpot or not.
"Play responsibility, my friends." Dont tell me what to do.
*Blows entire monthly salary on gambling*
now we’re talking

Go through the burgled house and give water to the north saffron guard.
.
(It doesnt save much time over rock tunnel in a run but it seems like it would have helped you get access to celedon for this challenge)
.
This can all be done on "specially designed digital hardware" for anyone whom it concerns.

151 bpm on a metronome sounds like an urban myth to me. It's just plausible enough to fool kids on the bus
That’s what was one of the most magical things about growing up and playing Pokemon in the early 2000s (or probably any game, but my main experiences were Pokemon) before the full takeover of the internet. Someone could say literally anything and I’d believe it. My next door neighbor growing up was 4 years older than me and would make the most outrageous Pokemon myths up & I’d blindly believe him for the sole fact that he’s older than me lmao

How come i not know that the pokeflute could do that in Battle?
Got to ask. I thought you could obtain Porygon 2 in Fire Red and Leaf Green. Why didnt you evolve porygon?
Only after Sevii Islands

I'm surprised you went with Abra for the official starter you could have gotten Clefairy at Mt Moon 😂

As someone who has a Level 45 Clefable on a save, not seeing someone get Meteor Mash on the li'l dude is kinda rough. Broken move
One of the main point of the challenge was to use majority game corner TMs. Meteor mash is pretty 🔥 tho
Was thinking how else ypu could do this, if ypur going game corner only, you cpuld say ypu could catch chancy in mount moon as well as abra in the other route, basically still using only fame corner pokemon, if your rules allow it, ypu could open it to any gane corner pokemon, in any game.
5:50 this sounds like something a gambling addict would say but ok.
Why didn’t you get Clefairy from Mt. Moon instead? You get it sooner than Abra.

Tbh ever since i played fire red lets say 2 years ago i honestly think its more so timing. Not that it matters for the method i go with. Any machine for me worked as i just buy enough coins (usually 50 is fine for me or the free ones you get cuz once you save infront of a machine you can just go for the 300)
Regardless the first random factor is just getting the first two 7s.
