- It's not that we were expecting the world to change, when we heard Sabato De Sarno was appointed for the position as creative director at Gucci.
We are fully aware that the job as a CD is not easy, especially when the house has been struggling. There are several examples right now, like Daniel Lee at Burberry or Maximilian Davis at Ferragamo, who really try to get the best out of a brands heritage, while changing and developing the brand still in a greater direction, while also trying to increase sales. It's hard for everyone. But, but! This doesn't mean you should wash off everything you ever stood for and deliver us this. I might take it too personal, but we know Gucci can do it better.

I like fashion, but I feel like I don't know much about it, so I watch this channel to learn. I don't necessarily hate what I saw here, but I do feel like I could copy almost every look by going to the thrift store and equipping myself w a needle and thread. And when I saw the jeans w the daisies I laughed bc I bought some oversized jeans w flowers printed on them...not dissimilar to the photo AT ALL...at Target about a month ago...which is your point exactly. (and oh yeah, I have never hopped on the ballet flat bandwagon.)
The Gucci blue jeans had the daisies not printed but hand stitched! If you want to honestly evaluate a collection that you are unable to see directly you should rely on very good images and above all read the descriptions given by the fashion house. If you don’t do this, you will lose a lot of details, you won’t understand correctly the beauty of details and your judgment will be dishonest. As for recreating the look by going in a thrift shop, this is true in a very superficial way of several outfits seen on catwalks nowadays. But it isn’t true if we speak of the beauty of details and fabrics which make the difference. People who have not a good knowledge of the quality of fabrics and details are unable to judge both a real outfit they see as well what they see on a catwalk. Cheap brands like H&M or Zara have been remaking for years now trends seen on catwalks and invented by creative designers of luxury brands. In this way buyers of low brands outfits are not used to appreciate the quality they can’t afford. This means they are even unable to evaluate a runway show seen on the screen of a smartphone.

Many comments seem to come from people who are just judging the show and want to be amused, shocked etc. But these are very different expectations from those who on the contrary judge how much the outfits are wearable and sellable. So these perspectives clash. But for the home financing group, retailers and the real clients what are much more important are things as wearability, desirability, quality, uniqueness.

Love you Tuba. Minor note: you keep referring to the material of the blouses as organza and it's actually chiffon or very lightweight georgette. Organza is more stiff and structural whereas the other two have sheerness but drape softly. Can't wait for your next huge video.

You missed out Frida Giannini. Gucci grew hugely under her leadership 2006-15, she emphasised quality, craftsmanship, heritage. Sabato De Sarno is OK, I bought one of his silk shirts, and I like the suede cape on the Cruise24 catwalk so will check it out - but I could do without Gucci-does-Miu Miu. The flats are ****ing 0, the dresses with one-sleeve like student's work who ran out of time,, and the Abigail's Party gowns hideous. Prices have risen steeply, I'd like to see where the money is going.

For good reason it was boring kinda similar to now and if something was interesting it was a tom ford knockoff.
Finally, someone like u who speaks bravely and freely about how disappointing this runway show was! I thought the Ancora shows were good, but this show crushed my hope so much! I used to be a Gucci VIP, when it's under Michele's direction. Now that my favorite SA had quit, i have not been shopping at Gucci, probably won't in the next year or so.
coming back to this. like even if it lacks originality. i also can't imagine wearing any of this on a resort or cruise. all of the outfits feel so early fall/winter.
a lot of items look like they were reused from previous collections of YSL. Its not the first time I see Kreing brands exchanging things between each other.
At the end of the day Gucci has gotten to big to risk being truly creative and to showcase true new design. I worked for Nike for 5 years and it was very similar in the sense that it was all about selling as much product as possible, so you have to design within the realm of commercial trends that appeal to the masses. In this way it’s almost impossible to even analyse it from an authentic fashion perspective, it can only be looked at as a corporate giant business. Love your ideas in this video though and couldn’t agree more about the jeans!

It seems that they are also trying to jump on the wave that Chemena set in motion. I preferred the previous collections, to me they had more integrity and I'm sad they did not continue with refining that direction which had more potential to develop in an interesting way than this jumble.

It's obvious that they are taking inspo from the current college age generation. No shade. I can get down with some creepers and wide leg trouser-esqe denim silhouettes. I think we just desire more from Gucci. Like always. It seems this house should be innovating and setting standards not just chasing trends. It's like leather bags and shoes with a side of clothes as opposed to the other way around. It's very thrifted , "Urban Outfitters" , "I raided my parents closet" and I might be a second year fashion student vibes. Again - no shade , we all began somewhere. I think leaning more into the collared 60's mini shift , go-go dress , perhaps with drop waists and peter pan collars would have felt nicer. More of that oxblood leather? It might have been predictable or too "throwback" but also comforting in a way. Especially amidst all the loose denim / loose leather / wrap sunnies Y2Kness going on. Fashion as always is reflective of the times , I guess in that sense this is mirroring society and the economy. We're broke and painfully aware of how fucked our environment is , and if we're not broke then we don't want to flash our cash. Is it time to blend in and look "humble" ? Is this what Gucci thinks humble looks like? Why do I feel insulted all of a sudden?

I don’t really get the collection either, I think Chloe, Saint Laurent, and Miu Miu (And also prada with the satin shoes) just made better versions of the pieces in this collection. Why buy these over something else, you know?
