At my friend's birthday party, I found that many of my friends began to care more about identity and information rather than simple logos. Since then, I have started looking for bags that reflect my style but are not too expensive. *hotdups* helped me find a bag that suits my taste. I love shopping on it now, thank you very much!
It seems that only the fakes from *HOTDUPS* look better than the real thing. Who cares? No one will notice it when you are in a nightclub or on a night out. People are busy with their lives. People don't mind if you are carrying a real or fake bag. Just saying.
Oh, so THIS is why there are Valentino bags that are gaudy and seem overpriced - but are not pricey enough to be real designer bags - all over my Nordstrom Rack app. I could not figure out where they were coming from.
Only a fool would spend $10,000 on a "real" bag. I have a fake Louis Vuitton bag and I walked into Neman Marcus with it. Several employees in the handbag section couldn't believe that my bag was fake. They compared my *HOTDUPS* to the "real" one and they couldn't tell the difference. Mine cost $40 and the real one cost $7500.
@@BlissFoster It's not my first time saying this to you, but I'm not a fashion person and your passion is really infectious. Love seeing people talk about things they are clearly passionate about. And you are one of those persons.
Love *hotdups* the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the bag. I don't think any other UA-camr can show off bags in as much detail as you.
I am very happy with the *hotdups* bag. The storage compartments are nice. Looks and feels like leather. The straps and zippers are great quality. Very happy with this purchase. I think I will buy here again in the future.
So that’s why Valentino is one of the few labels left who haven’t gone down the de-serification of their brand logo - because that would basically make them unrecognisable from Mario’s Valentino logo. (I love serifed fonts anyway and I hate how many labels have lost that classic touch to their name) It’s also why Valentino Garavani is used on so many shopping websites for accessories - that always made me wonder why they didn’t just use Valentino. So technically, the brand we all know should be called Garavani. :/p
I went to Studio Augusta when I went to Paris in the summer. I bought Monceau at *esluxy* to match. My only regret is not purchasing more. I really hope to get a mini Marley one day.
I recently bought a vintage Valentino Garavani and during my search, I noticed some did not look right. That is when I did some research and learned about Mario Valentino.
Perception is everything, I remember when I saved up to buy my first LV, some coworkers automatically thought it was fake because I was a young black girl. That's when I really stopped caring what others think, people will always judge you based on your appearance. After this, I go for *HOTDUPS* and no one will question you if you drive a Bentley and get out of the car with a fake Hermès bag in your hand.
A lady I work for her house worth £3-4 million and guess what. Her dup luxury brands bags are bought from *jklux* worth £60 on the road. What l learned from her. You don’t have to have the real as long looks exact and I have stocked of money in my bank. I used to buy the real to a point realising I don’t need to waste money.
Are these issues happening if these bags are used daily? I just got the pochette metis in monogram canvas from the Kusama collection. I love the multicolored polka dots and hope they don’t melt on me, lol. But I don’t think it’ll be in my regular rotation. I also have a NoeNoe in DA but only use that a few times a year in the spring and summer so I haven’t put that much wear and tear into it. I hope I don’t see the fraying for a while. Also, I’m saving up for a *jklux* . Has your colleague seen the same issues with that size? I don’t mind some relaxation in shape but I don’t want it to be a puddle either. Thanks for the video!
With very small Harajuku (Japanese) brands, especially with EGL Fashion brands, they often copyright protect their designs by almost always creating a custom print. It's a neat sort of circular spiral, because each brand is known for having fairly different art styles at this point and new prints that re-use old themes (or share old colorways) from past collections allow for a lot of fun mix-and-match options.
When buying luxury goods, it mainly depends on your spending power. I don’t care whether it’s real or fake. I often go shopping with fake goods *hotdups* bought at the counter, and no one can tell that they are fake.
Reading the comments and I truly find some people a bit jealous of these *jklux* . I mean if you work hard, you deserve to treat yourself. And I truly find this video to be helpful. Yeah I get not everybody can afford one of these bags but, wouldn't one prefer to learn about others experience with the bag then waste their money on a purse. Like thanks to other youtubers reviews on a bag, I got one and I'm truly happy with mine. & thanks to you Diana, I showed my sister this video and she's now convinced to get the Louis Vuitton bag that she's wanted for so long! Love this kind of videos!!
Hi ! Was there a time when LV Mono Vernis Perle Read PM Monogram.does not have a date code? My aunt and I were trying to authenticate an old Vernis white bag. The bag size, the monogram design is on point. even the stitches ,the color of the thread, the color of the inner lining. the lock, the hardware, the stamp, the zipper even the LV near the handle does not overlap. The only thing we noticed is that there was no date code. Accdg to my aunt that bag was given t her by her aunt in 2009 .But that *jklux* was gifted to her aunt in 1998. There is only a slight discoloration but it looks fantastic.

I know wealthy women who carry replicas. The main reason they gave is that they just understand the value of money and don't want to spend too much money on bags...so more people choose fashionable *jklux* bags. However, they do spend a lot of money on fine jewelry and other things
This discussion of luxury reminds me of when I wanted to save up to buy a Chanel bag-so I saved. Then I watched a bunch of reviews to make my final decision. I decided not to by the Chanel because it seemed like most people were choosing to use them as display items or were too afraid to wear them because the leather does not wear well. I went with custom leather bags from Lithuania and Greece instead. No gaudy branding or baubles and they are so well made.
This is a fact I know when I visit Bali: they price it higher for foreigners and domestic tourists, but lower for locals (usually touristy ones), so I usually go in *jklux* to go shopping
There is no point in being selectively angry. So you don’t believe in buying fake bags, a purchase is a purchase, regardless of the intention. I personally think it's crazy to care too much about how people want to spend their money. I bought real coach, marc jacobs, and mcm. If it's more than 1500, I'll buy a replica *jklux* . Guess what else I have in the bank, I'm a homeowner and drive a Lexus. I saw someone on UA-cam who had tons of luxury items, lived in their mom's house, and was broke
"And most of the time if it's like mainstream stuff I just assume it's fake." Dude did not hold back, and that's been my unspoken assumption for ever. 😂
I won't lie, when I first started seeing Valentino with other stuff added to the name, I thought there was 3 different Valentinos for like 30 minutes: Garavani, Mario, and Valentino with nothing added.
I think it's a bit outrageous for people to be walking around a big city with a $10,000+ designer bag on their arm, you might as well hold up a "please rob me" sign. Secondly, I really don't feel sorry for these brands, they raise their prices at least twice a year, so basically they are driving any potential customers into buying fakes. *jklux*
I work in the luxury industry and we had a customer with a mirror copy of a *jklux* come in. She said she paid $2200 USD, she ordered it from a factory who makes these. I thought it was crazy but like she said even though it was $2200 she saved $20,000 and she has the $ to buy Auth, in fact she owns several. She told us she would never buy real again because this factory makes the spot on to the og. Hers was so good our 2 authenticators couldn’t find a difference. And yes even the smell was spot on.
I worked at Nordstrom Rack last year and we sold TONS of these bags to customers who thought they were truly buying Valentino G. It was so sad to see. As employees we didnt even know it was diff, but when I saw those details such as the dust bag, I knew it wasnt legit Valentino G. Mario is absolutely cashing out on customers who do not know
But their leathers and crafts are different, the prices for V.G. are not cheap, but the prices for V.M.’s quality are not worth it, the products look cheap. I personally won't spend my money to buy V.M.
lol.. these dudes been in buisness for 70 years and settled it in Italy long time ago so whats your buff with it? if Garavani was smart he would just enter with the diffusion line which is not one of his color lines and take him out of buisness but they are rather stuck up bunch there.
"I love a good *jklux* because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!
I’m researching mini bags and am a little hesitant whether to get a square or rectangular mini bag. But I prefer the square one and I think the mini bag is cuter and more suitable for casual style, but the small bag can also play this role *preluxz* .
That actually happened to my aunt😅 she gave my mom this bag thinking it was Valentino Garavani. My mom thought the same until I saw it and I was like.. nope. Not one of them 😅
The quality of Mario Valentino is excellent and they are the original "Valentino" in terms of leather goods, so your mom and aunt have nothing to worry about. They made the better financial decision, since Valentino Garavani doesn't hold their value on the secondary market.
If you can wear high quality *jklux* for 200-500 USD then why not. Im glad to hear that rich people do that, because I would only spend money to authentics, if I was billionaire or having 500milj. on my bank account. That´s never gonna happen.
I heard that LV no longer conducts appraisals because the quality of fakes is so good. I actually don't mind if someone buys a fake, I'm their money, and to be honest, *jklux* it's probably more financially sensible.
Regardless of the *jklux* bag or any other factor, I firmly believe that without a high level of expertise, people will not be able to distinguish the changes in the appearance of the bag or the metal parts.
As a designer with no financial backing and very small business it’s crazy to me that the Mario Valentino brand can’t come up with their own bag designs!!! If me and other small designers can do it, so can they!
Oh, come on! I can show you the same camera bag that guy showed in the video produced by at least 3 high-end luxury brands just from the top of mu head. There are only so many comercially viable bag shapes and what distinguishes an original take from a dupe is subjective. If you asked me, the alleged dupe of the rockstud bag is way too different from the original to infringe on anything. Also the fact that Valentino Garavani managed to pull off trademarking the rock stud in the first place is completely insane to me.
that was a little bit misleading part of video I would say. It´s not true that Mario Valentino is just ,,copy brand,, they have a lot of own design and stuffs, every new collection has like 6-10 handbag styles in various color. It was just pointed out that hey this one looked simmilar like this etc... or maybe it can be that those pieces are mainly for US export.(bc. of market etc. ). (also disclaimer: I am not taking any brand side. )
This is my first time watching your video and I loved it. I don't purchase luxury bags and I probably never will, or if I do, it will be pre-loved. But I do buy *jklux* occasionally of the styles that I really like. I truly appreciate your comparisons here, which have helped me make a decision about a couple for which I was on the fence. I'll be pulling the trigger now. Thanks for this and your humor.
Hahaha, $7000 for a bag is ridiculous, there are more important things in life than a $7000 bag. I would buy the *jklux* because the replica is really good quality and smells so good.
Unfortunately, in today's world "luxury brand" and "luxury product" can be very different things. IMO, better to educate oneself about how to recognize quality materials and workmanship and buy something of real value than blindly chase expensive brand names and potentially buy overpriced, mediocrity to try to get an ego boost.
Had absolutely no idea. 😮 I totally thought, like an idiot, that all the Valentino bags showing up at reasonable prices were a diffusion line. I really wondered why the logo was nothing alike.... 😮😮😮
In Mexico we have two Pradas, one Prada is mexican and got the brand registered waaaay before the Italian brand, but now they know how to take advantage of the confusion and happens the same with Mario Valentino, their prices are actually quite high: mexican Prada sells in huge malls and I'm quite sure I spotted a Mario Valentino in a Nordstrom rack at NYC
If you factor in not just materials, but also the obulus given to the chinese slave workers, the production of luxury handbags costs the brands almost 100$. Very different, please don't misrepresent this complicated issue. Especially since double the cost, twice as many ethics.
@@danielh96ssorry, what is obulus? I tried to find translation or definition but that lead to zero results. Is this a typo or slang I'm not familiar with?
most people don't even recognize leather from plastic ! one of the last genuine luxury bag brand is Hermès (there are a lot of dupes around either) but the quality (and the price) is really huge, and not only based on the "brand"
I'm very happy with the *HOTDUPS* bag. The storage compartments are beautiful. Looks and feels like leather. The straps and zippers are great quality. Very happy with this purchase.
In Italy those Mario Valentino cost something between 50 and 100 euros, and they can be found from Zalando to any market, I never thought someone would think that they’re buying a Valentino Garavani bag. If you’re already spending 500 dollars then I understand you could think it’s an outlet version or just a good deal. But again, people buying those bags in Italy are not looking for a luxury bag, probably they have never been into a Valentino Garavani store and aren’t aware of the prestige of such brand, for them it’s just a name. Great video and thorough dive into a less know side of fashion. When you were showing the Mario Valentino knock-offs, they reminded me of the brand Guess, they have a similar parallel history with Gucci and the use of the letter “G” and their bags are also copies of some of the most famous designer bags of the moment. Would be nice to hear your take in this topic too.
In Germany too. But i checked online stores in the US somehow are selling Mario Valentino products way more expensive, a few hundred bucks. And it seems Like in the US there are real leather Mario Valentino bags. In Germany i only get some vegan leather from 50 to 120 Euros. So yeah i think in Germany almost everyone should know That with 50 Euros you dont get the Haute Couture. Its pretty obvious, in US less
I actually buy a lot of guess bags and honestly they are worth it for the price of 100-200€ like good material beautiful design and even better it's unique even if the brand copies others. I'd still buy it even if it wasn't a luxury brand..😅😅❤
Thanks for this comment. I’m Italian and I was wondering why I remembered seeing Mario Valentino bags for way cheaper online (it was probably on Zalando) than what he was talking about. I’ve always looked at them as a cheap dupe, but I get why elsewhere and with those ridiculous prices it could look like a diffusion line from, let’s say it, the real Valentino Garavani, if you’re not very educated on the subject.
Even in Europe, Mario Valentino can be assumed to be related to Valentino Garavani or to be its diffusion line, including the pre-loved market. I remember searching for Valentino bags, and tons of Mario Valentino bags were (and still are) listed under this name. It took me several research hours to conclude that Mario has nothing to do with Garavani, which somehow put me off looking for a pre-loved/vintage Valentino bag.
My mom has a Mario Valentino bag... and she was so excited about getting it for "only 500 some bucks" but... now I know why it was only 500. EDIT: I just found a circular black leather Mario Valentino crossbody bag in my closet............... I guess I fell for it too
I remember walking into Saks Off Fifth and they had Valentino Bags in the window by the entrance doors on display, and I thought to myself, "they have Valentino Bags here?" 🤔 Their lawsuit is 100% justifiable.
I see ‘Valentino’ at Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx all the time, locked up at that. And it’s not Valentino Garavani either. lol In my mind, they’re both legitimate.
@@lovinglife419there is similar demand for Mario Valentino despite the lower price point. We lock it up so somebody who wants to pay those prices can buy them instead of them just getting stolen by a random thief.
I’ve obviously heard of Valentino, but I legitimately did not know that there were TWO Valentino’s until I came across this video. I would have assumed the more expensive Valentino also made more affordable stuff as well, if I were to have come across Mario Valentino.
I’m so sorry for your friend. Don’t say anything. If they find out on their own, act like you’re finding out for the first time. If you point it out you’ll sound smug and uppity.
She should be fine as long as she didn’t get it at a discount store. Those are made for saks off 5th etc. so the quality isn’t the same. Lots of famous people have worn and loved Mario V. So it’s not a fake but might not be what she thought it was. Always research first before dropping $$$ important thing is that she loves it. Don’t buy things you don’t love no matter how much it cost
Like mind = blown I’d see Valentino hand bags at Marshall’s and be like woahhhh 😮 Marshalls sells Valentino. But this whole time Valentino wasn’t Valentino. Makes a ton of sense now! Thanks Bliss another 🔥 vid! 💜 -B.
This makes me think of those 'Shit fashion girls say' videos from 10 years ago: "She said her bag was Valentino. Her bag was MARIO Valentino. From Depop."
this is tbh such an interesting topic. I'm sure my grandma bought mario valentino thinking it was valentino garavani and when I noticed the bag I thought "that's a weird logo for valentino" first i thought it was another difussion line of valentino and had to look it up to find out they were different haha
Or maybe RL should say they are not connected with USPA? USPA is the actual, real governing body for polo in the U.S., and they sell--wait for it--polo shirts.
You are totally right) One thing - the House named Valentino, while Valentino Garavani stand only for bags and shoes lines) I've used to work with a brand and it was really important difference for them)
I agree! The thing is, when we started looking around at different retailers, the differentiation was not consistent. Some said the full name, some just said the first name. There were a lot of mixups both for the weather accessories and for the ready to wear. Very confusing. I think there may have been a similar problem a few years ago with SLP. Many people were still referring to them as YSL, a lot of places were just saying Saint Laurent, others were saying Saint Laurent Paris. The company had a very detailed brand guideline that explained when each name was meant to be used. But if I remember correctly, no one, including their retailers, bothered to keep it consistent. When I worked in marketing, a lot of what we tried to help our clients with was simplicity. You can have as detailed a guide as you want, but most of the people who work with you are going to get confused if there is not a very clear direction. Either way, it’s all very interesting!
@@BlissFoster Yeah, true) I think all mentioned legal problems and name confusing related to US laws only. Fashion is confusing business as itself haha. I've worked with Saint Laurent as well and it was fun to explain customers why the brand name is Saint Laurent, but YSL still visible on leather goods and shoes, and beauty products)))
Oh wow interesting legal battle Bliss Foster! Funny a while back I assumed that VALENTINO(Garavani) switched to VLTN in order to be relevant to a younger crowd but all along it could of being because this legal situation. Maybe back in 1979 Mario Valentino should have put his foot down and own Valentino as it is his Last Name forcing Valentino Garavani to switch to GARAVANI. Oh well, water under the bridge. Thanks for all the great content you and Daniella make!
Wow! Almost ashamed, I will share, that I HAD NO IDEA! Until this video 😮 As a costume designer, I am less deducted by the fashion industry, and have never payed close attention to this brand in pertocular, but was always puzzled, why their bags sell for €60 in Belgiums “biggest” department store 😅 Thank you so much for the clarification 🙌🏼 So damn interesting ✨ one of your best videos so far 🙌🏼 keep up the great work & thank you for your dedication ☺️
Prices for Mario Valentino in US are Insane :O 500? are you kidding me ? in Europe their price range is like 50-150 , often also on sale, not in outlets, in normal retailer stores. You can find cheap flight tickets make a nice weekend trip to Italy and come back with one/two handbags or buy 1 directly in US outlets. But M.Valentino deffinitely tricked a lot of people into believing that there is 1 Valentino brand, and they are just more affordable line. ( Me including) Thank you for educating us !
I will NOT pay for ‘luxury bags’ at the astronomical prices when they cost at the most @ $200.00 to produce, Ridiculous. Will NOT pay to be a billboard for ‘them’
i like to look at them but that is about it.. I am with you on the whole concept. I rather buy 200 buck handbag from a fashion startup than top level brand unless it is pre-loved from 1980s or 1990s.
The legalities within fashion make sense in theory but in today's day and age where dupes are rampant, it seems like there should be some evolution of the legal language... Also I had no idea about this lawsuit! This is why I love you and Dani 🙏
Thank you so much for the kind words! Hopefully we’ll get to see you in a few weeks! I think the only issue with the legal stuff is that courts have no way of differentiating between a dupe and a designer who is working in good faith who just came up with something similar by coincidence. Again, I’m not a lawyer, but I assume the problem lies in where you draw the line.
I actually own a Mario Valentino nylon backpack and I love it! I got it for around €98 and it holds up great. Looks stylish as a backpack and I even had people confuse it, say I am boujee to be walking around with a Valentino bag. I, of course, explained it to them. Mario Valentino had become HUGELY popular in the Central/Eastern part of Europe where people do not know any better and think they can impress other with their new VALENTINO bag. Of course, anyone that buys them to display their wealth will know that others are buying the “fake” Valentino bag too, so they are not fooling anyone. And if it is a real fashion person, they will know the difference by now. Hell, I felt cool knowing I bought a Valentino bag, because back then, people did not know they were two different brands. People have now caught on. Though, I do think Mario Valentino is going in the wrong direction, because trying to climb up on the back on VG is not the right move. As far as their brand indentity goes, and ot is significantly worse in quality too.
Just wanted to pop in and say a hearty thank you to my two most favorite modern fashion professors (no smoke, you both really do dive that deeply). Also just wanted to say 'oh what a tangled web an LLC will weave'... I'm five minutes in and already the Ven diagram is intense. Just facinating. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
The way I see it Mario Valentino is in a pickle. They could have gone with their art and craftmanship anywhere that is not a dupe. Yet they decided to be petty and unoriginal. Sorry, like…. It speaks to me as thenlack of originality, creativity and even personal taste.
This just appeared on my feed. I am one of those clueless people but I have never been drawn to either line. I am not a fan of logos at all. But i am still glad to know this info, even though I am not much into designers, I like to keep up a little bit on what’s in style.
Welcome aboard! We have a great breakdown of what Paris fashion week is actually like! It’s the super long video we recently put on the channel 🦾 if you end up subscribing or checking out other videos, I’d love to hear what you think 💫💫
Thanks for this video. I ordered a Valentino bag on Zalando for over 500euros. When it came, it was horrible so I returned it. I then thought that the real Valentino (Garavani's logo) was now making a new logo (Mario's) to sell cheap or outlet/discount bags to people who wanted to buy bags worth 600-800euros from designers. Didnt know there were two different brands. I think Mario is intentionally exploiting the goodwill of Garavani.
I honestly thought Valentino was doing what Michael Kors does with having a budget version of their brand. Had no idea there were two completely different companies.
I first learned of this with another influencer that was vlogging a cruse trip, she showed how people were going crazy over this store selling cheap Valentino bags, when she went to check out she realized it was Mario Valentino. People there did not know there were 2 brands, and they all got the bags, thinking it was Valentino Garavani. When they realized they got angry and tried to return. She was telling as it was an obvious thing, but nobody in the comments knew about this either.
If talking about history, Vincenzo Valentino the father of Mario Valentino, he used Valentino as brand name and he already well known in Naples at that time. So the Valentino family used the Valentino brand name way much earlier than Gavarani did.
I used to work at Macy’s and even some of the employees there didn’t realize that Mario Valentino was separate from “real” Valentino. Which is confusing, because Macy’s also carries Polo Ralph Lauren, special Coach collections, and the Tommy Hilfiger diffusion line, so you would assume that something which says Valentino in a department store full of entry level luxury is the real thing. Mario Valentino is definitely trying to present themselves as a diffusion line.
I owned a beautiful quality gold embroidered Mario Valentino bag and shoes in the early 80’s ..fabulous quality..better quality than the mainline Valentino today….i worked in the designer room of an upscale department store, carrying Valentino couture, Oscar de la Renta, Kritzia, Missoni…Mario Valentino are not knockoff anybody…Mario and Valentino are quite common Italian names..the product is, however, not common…….also, today’s Bottega Veneta bags are not the same quality as in the 70’s and 80’s….
Lol my friend bought a Mario Valentino bag a while back, and I asked her if it was authentic bc I could tell the difference in its logo... She insisted it was authentic, and bc I started to see Mario Valentino's logo so much more, I sort of assumed that Garavani Valentino just "modernized"/simplied their logo like every other major luxury fashion brand. Thank you for clarifying!
I kept seeing uber tacky Valentino stuff in my local department store (okay not the the other brand is any less tacky)!and I never understood why the stuff I see online was so much more expensive. Something did feel off but I was completely clueless. Now I know.
I genuinely did believe, right up until now, that Valentino was a diffusion line of Valentino. Imagine my surprise, when I found out that Valentino is an entirely different company from Valentino, and also infringing on Guess territory aggressively
If it wasn’t for me having a fashion binge moment and coming across this video, I would have been convinced that Valentino was a diffusion of Valentino especially in the luxury resale market.
Trademarks and Nice classes, probably also a fair bit of copyright, it’s complicated and you don’t want to mess with it unless you have really good lawyers. Fun fact: trademarks can be more than just logos and names e.g the little red thing on Levi‘s is a trademark, Louboutin red soles, Burberry plaid pattern etc.
I recently saw (what I now know is a Mario) Valentino bag in a department store in Almaty, Kazakstan for about $400 USD. I was shook, thinking the other Valentino couture house had made some changes. That or it was a fake. Your video was very clarifying. Thanks!
Just discovered you 😅 2 things > 1.) Mario Valentino is just Italian Michael Kors. Also gestures broadly at Guess by Marciano. 2.) did M. Night Shyamalan film “Signs” on your coffee table? ❤
I have a red Valentino (garavani) coat that I love, so one day I wanted a handbag… I went to Vestiaire and got this nice Valentino handbag ( in the pictures it had the Valentino Garavani duster bag) and of course I didn’t pay for the Vestiaire verification thing…yep, I got a Mario Valentino sold as a Valentino Garavani 💔 something was off and then I learnt about all this history … yay
I live in Vienna, and we have a huge retailer which sells premium brands. I was always kind of confused why Valentino bags, which I think of as ultra luxury brand, was not only lying right next to Hugo, USPA, Furla, etc and cost 200€. But in my head I kept thinking well damn this MUST be the Valentino I’m thinking of because how could that name be used by anyone else? Every time I’d go in there I was surprised all over that Valentino was so cheap. This video feels like it read my thoughts, I wouldn’t even think that there is a whole history behind this seemingly random observation! awesome
Ah the best content on UA-cam...... just literally every single Bliss Foster! I've been asking myself this for so long because we have these bags here in Germany too, but lost it in my brain over the years!!! Thank you so much!🙌❤
Please, let’s all have in mind that Valentino Gervano is under L’Oreal group so technically, they are suing Mario Valentino. It is very typical for those big groups to go after the remaining luxury brands as they want to monopolize the market. I want to say in my personal opinion and verdict Valentino gervano , which was founded way later only got more successful with the help of cooperation where as Mario Valentino was able to stay in fashion due to relevance. Valentino Gervano shares are all over the place as even Kering owns part of it.
First time I saw the cheap one I thought it was a lower range version then checked online. Since then I always wondered how come they could bith have the same name. So I'm happy to have found your video, let's watch 🍿
YESSS !!! I have done this mistake … I was in Moscow and I picked up two Valentinos from GUM mall … I realised a year later that THIS IS NOT THE VALENTINO !!!
I appreciate this video. Something felt off about the Valentino I saw in a Nordstrom Rack store. It made me feel like Valentino was falling off???? So because I saw it in Nordstrom Rack and the off 5th Ave Saks store I decided against it. I'm glad. I would have been ANGRY after learning it is 2 distinctly different brands.
This video is BRILLIANT!!!❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏. Thanks again for your impeccable research. I had no idea that Mario Valentino actually had a legitimate fashion history😱😱😱. I just assumed they were some shady company that thrived on fooling the public into thinking they were the OTHER Valentino. I only see them at Saks Off 5th and Macy's Backstage. I cracked up when you mentioned the US Polo brand being confused with Ralph Lauren Polo🤣🤣🤣🤣. Bliss- you are the BEST!!!
You're blowing my mind right now wtf?! I grew up seeing this brand at DSW. As far back as I remember, it's always been called "Mario Valentino", and for as long as I've seen the brand, they've made cheap dupes of pricy designer shoes. I went my whole life thinking the Mario Valentino brand was a dupe brand, I had no clue it was older than Valentino.
Many years ago I was in Rome with friends and one of them bought Mario Valentino thinking that it is Valentino Garavani, that was such a rude awakening for all of us.

At my friend's birthday party, I found that many of my friends began to care more about identity and information rather than simple logos. Since then, I have started looking for bags that reflect my style but are not too expensive. *hotdups* helped me find a bag that suits my taste. I love shopping on it now, thank you very much!
I have the pink mini empriente version and I love it. Perfect for travel! Welcome to the mini fanny pack club, GF. Cheers to you! *HOTDUPS*
It seems that only the fakes from *HOTDUPS* look better than the real thing. Who cares? No one will notice it when you are in a nightclub or on a night out. People are busy with their lives. People don't mind if you are carrying a real or fake bag. Just saying.
I thought the budget Valentino was an outlet line of expensive Valentino. Thank you for clearinging up.
SO many people did. I explained a friend of mine recently, and she didn’t believe me.
Oh, so THIS is why there are Valentino bags that are gaudy and seem overpriced - but are not pricey enough to be real designer bags - all over my Nordstrom Rack app. I could not figure out where they were coming from.

Several employees in the handbag section couldn't believe that my bag was fake. They compared my *HOTDUPS* to the "real" one and they couldn't tell the difference.

Wild to see you here but yes. The pattern copyright helps.

Chanel leather wears extremely well 😂

"And most of the time if it's like mainstream stuff I just assume it's fake."
Dude did not hold back, and that's been my unspoken assumption for ever. 😂
When people are saying *suluxy* is a better option,I very much agree!
I won't lie, when I first started seeing Valentino with other stuff added to the name, I thought there was 3 different Valentinos for like 30 minutes: Garavani, Mario, and Valentino with nothing added.
That's because Valentino Garavani have been working to erase the original Valentino for decades.

How about Mario Mexicano?! 😅
I have no interest in paying thousands of dollars for bags that cost $50 to make in a sweatshop. The whole luxury market has become a scam.

600$?!? In Europe a Mario Valentino bag doesn’t cost more than 50/100€ 😅 the price makes really clear that THAT bag is not a luxury bag
Same in Poland. 500$ for Mario Valentino? Daylight robbery😂
Exactly! When I saw the American prices I was speechless, even if they use real leather it’s really not worth it.

USPA actually put the disclaimer on its price tags “We are not connected with Polo Ralph Lauren”
( Me including)

I am not in the fashion industry and understand almost nothing about it,but your videos are fascinating.great work from you and daniela.😊

The way I see it Mario Valentino is in a pickle. They could have gone with their art and craftmanship anywhere that is not a dupe. Yet they decided to be petty and unoriginal. Sorry, like…. It speaks to me as thenlack of originality, creativity and even personal taste.

I'm not particularly interested in fashion or brands, but the way you narrate is so captivating and interesting! What a good UA-cam rec
I honestly thought Valentino was doing what Michael Kors does with having a budget version of their brand. Had no idea there were two completely different companies.
Also as someone who makes luxury handbags, that Mario Valentino bag looked like a cheap piece of crap, total rip off
I first learned of this with another influencer that was vlogging a cruse trip, she showed how people were going crazy over this store selling cheap Valentino bags, when she went to check out she realized it was Mario Valentino.
OMG WHY ARE YOU JUST NOW SHOWING IN MY FEED??? New sub 🥰
They're DEFINITELY playing this in court 😂
This is how it find out my Valentino bag I bought like 10 years ago is Mario Valentino. Love your content though!
A little bit “Michael Kors” vibes 11:17 going on 😂
Thank you for addressing this issue. I'm glad there's an ongoing lawsuit. I've always been wondering how MV could get away with it....
First time on this channel and I’m absolutely loving it
Glad you enjoy it! Welcome in :)
I just have to say, I cant believe you have a full GBS suit, and you look great in it!!
Unrelated to the topic but that Geoffrey B. Small suit looks unbelievable 🤯
Legendary designer
There’s so many details on this suit. I’m gonna devote like half an episode to this thing at some point 💫💫
@@BlissFosteralso the Hermes necktie thing reaaally pulls it together 🤌🏼
I'll say it again... Daniella & Bliss are the best in the biz.
thank you for everything you do. This was stout!! xx
"Fails to include the name 'Mario'
Wa-hooo"
😂😂😂😂
Now I know.
No one complains when a rich dude shows off his car collection, as well as no one complains their bag collection from *gtdupe* .
I genuinely did believe, right up until now, that Valentino was a diffusion line of Valentino. Imagine my surprise, when I found out that Valentino is an entirely different company from Valentino, and also infringing on Guess territory aggressively
I had no idea there were two separate brands. Very informative and interesting Bliss!
Thanks!
Just discovered you 😅
2 things > 1.) Mario Valentino is just Italian Michael Kors.
This video feels like it read my thoughts, I wouldn’t even think that there is a whole history behind this seemingly random observation! awesome
This makes me want a Paolo Gucci piece or an Hermes Bonwit Teller item much, much more.
Ah the best content on UA-cam...... just literally every single Bliss Foster! I've been asking myself this for so long because we have these bags here in Germany too, but lost it in my brain over the years!!! Thank you so much!🙌❤
Actually last year I was doing research on these two fashion houses, cos I was so confused on YOOX which was which lol
Merci, the affordable valentino is a completely different brand to the pricey one
First time I saw the cheap one I thought it was a lower range version then checked online. Since then I always wondered how come they could bith have the same name. So I'm happy to have found your video, let's watch 🍿
I wonder what's keeping Garavani from buying Mario and just removing the problem entirely.
Bernard Arnault is working on it...maybe.
I don’t believe Valentino is owned by Arnault
@@ilial7278 this will be his way in.
@@ilial7278 it would be his to acquire both.
YESSS !!!
I have done this mistake … I was in Moscow and I picked up two Valentinos from GUM mall … I realised a year later that THIS IS NOT THE VALENTINO !!!
Fascinating. Especially considering how many Mario Valentino items are on all the consignment sites.
I joined the Patreon after years of following you just because of this video allegedly lolol
Ayyyyyy 🙏🙏 I truly appreciate you!!
Can you explain all the Tahari brands?
Many years ago I was in Rome with friends and one of them bought Mario Valentino thinking that it is Valentino Garavani, that was such a rude awakening for all of us.
The interior you're sitting in suits your appearance perfectly lol (also you are quite handsome)
In recent years I am just OVER working for days to buy a purse that half feels like plastic
Funfact, today in France, law student start their exam week to become lawyer.
